November 25th, 2019Add another national columnist to the growing list of folks that believe America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, is must-see TV.
Watching the football roller coaster that is Jameis is sort of like the old, old, old game show “Let’s Make a Deal.” On each play, you have no idea what’s behind the curtain. It’s drama at its finest. A sit-on-the-edge-of-your-seat thriller each Sunday.
Joe was in the press box at Artie’s Ark yesterday in downtown Atlanta and it was a vintage Jameis day. A pick that was beyond mindnumbing for its stupidity was followed by breathtaking throws.
And Jay Busbee of Yahoo! Sports is glued to the tube when Jameis is behind center.
With Winston, even after all this time, all we know is that we know nothing at all. Winston remains the most exhilarating-to-maddening quarterback in the game, usually both in the same game, sometimes even both in the same quarter. …
It’s entirely possible that Arians will decide that rolling with Winston, as agonizing as it is in the moment is the best overall option. If you get to your destination, so what if you put a few dents in the car along the way? Just buckle up, Bucs fans, and try to enjoy the ride.
And yet there are some who lurk among us that would prefer to go all Woody Hayes and celebrate handoffs because something bad might happen with a pass.
Joe has a Twitter follower who may have summed it up best.
2nd in TDs
2nd in Yards

who cares….quit watching couple weeks ago. JW garbage time stats are meaningless. he is a loser. wake me when it’s over and we get a QB.
November 25th, 2019 at 1:04 pm
and he owe’s me 98$ for gamepass this year.
November 25th, 2019 at 1:05 pm
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Glazer Family sign Winston to a $100M+ Guaranteed, multi-year contract. PLEASE!!!!!!
Because it will be the beginning of the end of the Tampa Bay Bucs fanbase and probably forcing the Glazers to sell the team to someone else.
It’s our only hope at this point.
November 25th, 2019 at 1:06 pm
Franchise him. Buy a year to decide.
November 25th, 2019 at 1:09 pm
Its been 5 years!
November 25th, 2019 at 1:10 pm
Bucs are def entertaining!
And im saying it now, i feel a franchise tag coming. 1 more year to mature and get those god awful decision making demons out of you Jameis!
November 25th, 2019 at 1:10 pm
Trade the half route-running Mike Evans for a Pro Bowl Left Tackle!
Draft the best right tackle out of college, and then draft the best Center in college. Trade up if you have to. I’d rather see how Bowles develops all these recent draft picks in our secondary than see Licht pick one more. At least with a competent O-Line, we could win shoot outs. Jameis isnt the problem, and you “Fans” who want him gone are gonna wonder why he will look so different when hes not throwing 50 Passes and getting sacked 5 times a game.
November 25th, 2019 at 1:11 pm
@bucbandit……..that just might save the fanbase. 100M+ would be enough for another couple lawyers and female “incidents”. pretty sure godell would save us then.
In that case I agree. sign him, let them eat crablegs!
November 25th, 2019 at 1:13 pm
Nobody told Rodgers he could pad his stats in garbage time yesterday and I’m pretty upset about it.
November 25th, 2019 at 1:15 pm
I love Winston but I truly am at a cross roads the picks are mind numbing the tds are breath taking WHAT THE F DO WE DO do we draft a qb idk by I don’t love these qbs this year I really don’t so do we give him another year but then again yesterday proved something to me Jameis Winston can win if we have a good defense 2016 proved we can win with a good defense but then again I just really don’t know what we should do lol this is insanity roller coaster Jameis only the bucs right
November 25th, 2019 at 1:15 pm
But***
November 25th, 2019 at 1:16 pm
That’s my quarterback 😭
November 25th, 2019 at 1:18 pm
Brad johnson and trent dilfer proved they could win with a good defense as well. lol
November 25th, 2019 at 1:19 pm
For sure this offseason will be entertaining. What will the Bucs do with jpp. Suh. Barrett. David. Winston. Jensen. Dotson. Running backs. Brate. Gholston. Nassib. At safety. Cb’s.
Pretty much all positions except wr and guard are a lock.
November 25th, 2019 at 1:20 pm
Jw is soooooo good. Would y’all agree?
November 25th, 2019 at 1:21 pm
Draft a LT, DE, LB, S, RB, K, BPA and get a vet qb in FA
November 25th, 2019 at 1:34 pm
We should all know by now that Jameis will play lights out for the rest of the year…he always does…buy not until we’re almost assuredly out of the playoffs and we should be losing to get a better draft pick. He screws us early in the year by playing horrendously, then simultaneously teases and screws us late in the year by playing better, for some reason.
November 25th, 2019 at 1:36 pm
DON’T WORRY, FOLKS!
Tune in next week, same time, for the “Bad Jameis” game wrap-up where all the Joe articles about how they “told us so” that Jameis shouldn’t be extended after his 5 INT performance and crapping the bed once again.
November 25th, 2019 at 1:37 pm
You know things are bad when they are airing the browns game over the bucs game on my TV (fort myers).
November 25th, 2019 at 2:05 pm
So the bucs have 93 mil in cap space next year. 27 mil for Winston, 15 mil for Barrett, 11 mil for JPP, 5 mil for Nassib, 9 mil for Suh, 10 mil for draft picks that totals 77 mil. So that’s about 15 mil for free agents. In other words a couple of this group has to go if this team is going to improve. To me Winston and SuH are the obvious. Definitely Suh the first two picks offensive tackle and defensive tackle. Kris Richards of the cowboys says you don’t have sign high priced corners of you know what your doing.
November 25th, 2019 at 2:08 pm
If this guy has a defense and an oline sky is the limit.
Not sure why it took this long for the cornes to actually make contact at the line of scrimmage.I guess Bowles finally got a memo grom someone daying that press cocerage actually inVOLVESs PRESSING!!!!
Lefrwich stull sucks. The guy doesnt know how to design an offense weeklu based on a defense. He just throws something at the wall and sees ig it sticks.
Jameis is not the problem with this team.Yesterday was a perfect example what he can bring when he has a good team around him
November 25th, 2019 at 2:10 pm
Damn its a shame JW can only shine against losing teams Joe “Three of the final five Bucs games are against teams with losing records. The other two are at home. Injuries? Joe doesn’t see any of the Bucs offense”.
November 25th, 2019 at 2:14 pm
jaymiss is just like :
Ryan Fitzpatrick 1 good game 1 bad game…. 8-10 million a year …. you are what your record says you …same movie the last 5 years….
November 25th, 2019 at 2:23 pm
Bad Jameis!!!! Bad Jameis is #2 in yards and #2 in TDs. If that’s wrong I don’t want him to be right!!!!
November 25th, 2019 at 2:25 pm
“Celebrate handoffs” eh?! Well, facts PROVE that less Jameis is better. Maybe it wasn’t all “Woody Hayes”, but he didn’t attempt 30 passes either.
Jameis Winston career W/L when attempting 35+ passes= 9-28
He is 16-24 when attempting less.
November 25th, 2019 at 2:29 pm
@Robert… LOL, about him owing you $98.00 for game pass. Honestly that was some funny spit! I said the same thing last year, lol!
November 25th, 2019 at 2:31 pm
Personally I’m tired of watching Jameis against Jameis. The blind squirrel analogy is perfect here.
November 25th, 2019 at 2:32 pm
Jamie’s will be extended ! He is a Beast!
November 25th, 2019 at 2:34 pm
Easy decision. Cash strapped, so no money for WinSTUNNED. Spend wisely elsewhere….
November 25th, 2019 at 2:46 pm
Get Jameis cheap and get a decent QB (Tua?) backup in the draft, get O line early in draft, pay for secondary in FA. Cut Jameis in 2021
November 25th, 2019 at 2:54 pm
Hate to make you guys mad but Tampa will have 85 million in cap this upcoming off season. So if Winston plays like he played Sunday for the remaining 5 games I’d expect a franchise tag. Honestly if the trenches is improved in the offseason at RT and get DL depth it may just be a interesting next year. I would like to see the 1st and 2nd year players on defense develop under Todd Bowles. Also look at the two offenses Winston has been in. Both are down the field passes so that in itself will result in Ints because its so pass heavy. Look at Carson Palmer numbers below.
Carson Palmer first season in Arians offense:
4,274 yds, 24 TDs, 22 INTs, 6 fumbles, 7.5 Y/A, 63% comp, RTG 83.3, sacked 41times,
Looking at the QB landscape to be honest I’ll take these QBs over Winston.
Brady
Brees
Mahomes
Jackson
Watson
Wilson
Ryan
These QBs are a toss up
Prescott
Wentz
Carr
Cousins
Stafford
Murray
Jimmy G
I’ll take Winston instead these guys
Darnold
Goff
Mayfield
Brissett
K. Allen
J. Allen
Tanehill
Bridgewater
Mariota
Fitzpatrick
Rosen
D.Jones
Rudolph
Rivers
Dalton
Finley
Trubisky
Haskins
B.Allen
McCoy
Keenum
Foles
Not in the NFL yet
Burrows
Tua
Eason
Herbert

Bin saying it for a while now it doesn’t matter what QB we have under center if our defense gives up 30 pt a game it will be hard to win. I’m just as sick of the turnovers as anyone else but the way #3 can move the ball up an down the field is amazing an fun to watch. Ow if an it’s a big if like really big but if our defense can play every game like they did vs the Dixie chicks we will make the playoffs next year even with #3 as our QB.
November 25th, 2019 at 2:59 pm
I’ll take any of these guys instead of WINSTUNNED:
Brady
Brees
Mahomes
Jackson

Darnold
Goff

Eli Manning and both San Fran backups too…
November 25th, 2019 at 3:01 pm
All the questions about what to do with Pickston. Its simple, franchise tag him and draft best qb available for insurance. 1 last year to figure it out, there’s too much talent to walk away. But you need to CYA!
November 25th, 2019 at 3:15 pm
I will take Bruce Blahak’s comments over the following posters…..

November 25th, 2019 at 3:19 pm
Wait until next game and another meltdown.
November 25th, 2019 at 3:32 pm
%th year, still “learning”…a turnover machine. Has a good game, and some people shout “SEEE???” But he is what he is. A loser. This guy will NEVER…I repeat NEVER hoist a Super Bowl trophy. Time to move on, because if you’re not in it to win the whole damn thing, what’s the point?
November 25th, 2019 at 3:32 pm
5th year **
November 25th, 2019 at 3:53 pm
Morgus I love when people think they said something smart. 95% of all the qbs playing now will never go to the super bowl either especially as long as Brady is playing. Matthew Stafford is a better qb but hasn’t taken the Lions to the bowl either so what’s your point?
November 25th, 2019 at 4:25 pm
db55
bad JW has 20 INTs….
and counting….we havent even discussed the fumbles….
i know you also refer to CP throw 20INTs with BA but that was a huge difference….CP was already and established QB that took his team to the playoffs twice before he landed with BA…..
the only thing JW has established is being inconsistent…..
GO BUCS!!!!!
November 25th, 2019 at 4:31 pm
Bruce sounds remedial. I’m so sorry. Lol!
I see Mariota didn’t make your list.
But HE WAS YOUR GUY????
shows you are just sad, hateful, and biased toward Jameis.
He’s been asked to do FAR too much this season.
He should NEVER lead this team in rushing. EVER!!!! Lol!!!
November 25th, 2019 at 4:36 pm
I made the point. But once again for those that have thick skulls…..America’s Groper will NEVER…I repeat NEVER hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy. And isn’t that all that matters?
November 25th, 2019 at 5:00 pm
DavidBig….So to you it doesn’t matter that Winston will never hoist the Lombardi Trophy? OOOOOOKKKAAAAAYYYY………
November 25th, 2019 at 5:03 pm
Yesterday Jameis broke a 12 game road losing streak. It was just plain luck, The Falcons were flat and traded talents with the Bucs defense.
The only entertainment value in Jameis is that he drives me to drink.
November 25th, 2019 at 5:09 pm
Craig what are you talking about? Yesterday was Winston’s 3rd road win this year.
@Panthers
@Rams
@Falcons
I guess it’s not luck when you don’t know the facts.
November 25th, 2019 at 5:24 pm
I agree with you Big buc$ that’s a good list and about how I have it. The problem with most of the guys you like there’s only 3 Qbs that aren’t getting close to retirement. Mahomes, Watson, Jackson and the problem with the two quick mobile two Qbs are that they don’t last long and get exposed when they lose that ability to rush after a few injuries. That leaves Mahomes and he had a drop off this season from last hopefully for KC fans that doesn’t just continue like it seems to be doing to Wentz. One guy a might add to your top list is Darnold. Not now but I think Darnold is going to mature into a solid Qb in a few years if they build a decent team around him.
November 25th, 2019 at 7:01 pm
Winston, Suh and Nassib have to go. Bridgewater as primary in FA or sign a game manager instead and draft a QB that falls to round three. Trade down at least one (unless Thomas does the Tunsil slide) but preferably twice. Draft highest rated OL or DL first, draft the other next, then draft another OL and RB in round two with trade down picks. A decent QB is going to fall to round three or maybe even four. There’s some good OLB’s that will be in rounds three and four too. Package lower picks to get a second pick in round three. As long as Licht follows conventional wisdom with this kind of strategy, the Bucs will Be contenders next year. If he reaches or drafts a WR, TE or MLB any earlier than round five, they won’t.
November 25th, 2019 at 7:16 pm
Expert “copy and paster” Bruce. You are a Jameis Basher. You must hate life knowing that Famous Jameis is more successful than you and you can’t walk a day in his great shoes. You are a Winston Hater. Look at yourself in the mirror and see something worth hating. That would be you; an ignorant imbecile.
November 25th, 2019 at 7:20 pm
TDTB you forgot to add in drafting a kicker or another MJ Stewart. It’s customary NFL tradition to draft kickers and CFL secondary players. Fireeee Licht!
November 25th, 2019 at 7:45 pm
Sorry Dapostman I missed the rest of my comment.
Yesterday he broke a string of 12 road losses where he threw more than 1 interception.
Someone asked me something in the middle of writing it and my mind wandered
November 25th, 2019 at 9:52 pm
Winston is an enigma.
Sometimes he plays like Tarzan, sometimes he plays like Jane.
Sometimes he looks like Joe Montana, sometimes he looks like Hannah Montana.
Winston will put the team in position to win 4-6 games per year. And he will individually cost the team 4-6 games per year.
From game to game you never know which Winston you will get.
Half the Bucs fan base want see if he can be more consistent, half want him to anywhere but Tampa.
The Bucs have never had a more Polarizing figure
November 26th, 2019 at 12:05 am
If you franchise Jameis, you don’t draft a QB in the first round. Round 2, maybe, but more likely, round 3.
If i’m the FO, i franchise him then draft the highest OL/CB on my board and then grab the other position in the 2nd.
November 26th, 2019 at 2:01 am
I’ll take every bit of action on the Bucs franchising Jameis. That’s stupid. Book your bets here. Write your own ticket at whatever odds.
November 26th, 2019 at 2:26 am
If Brett Favre played in the era of social media he would have been treated like Jameis is … especially if had a team with as bad a defense as Jameis has had for 4/5 years … tons of highlights, tons of turnovers, in and out of rehab, multiple Packers coaches wanting him benched for Brunell, etc … but he was THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 27th, 2019 at 9:01 am
That must have been Jay Busbees first season watching JW.
The article is touching and it’s stats that I used to use to defend our Bucs but that argument doesn’t work anymore.
At the end of the day, defined by your win-lose column, we suck!
2 winning seasons, ZERO playoffs in 12 years!
Unfortunately, fans want wins and this team does not produce enough! Not even close.
