“Stupidest Call I’ve Ever Seen”

October 6th, 2019

“He’s our best corner,” Bruce Arians said of ejected Bucs cornerback Carlton Davis.

Bucco Bruce Arians wasn’t a fan of the head-hunter ejection call on second-year cornerback Carlton Davis late in the second quarter.

FOX sideline reporter Laura Okmin said at halftime that Arians told her, “it was the stupidest call I’ve ever seen.” She also added Arians said, “Now we lost our best corner.”

After the game on the Buccaneers Radio Network, Arians wasn’t nearly as hard on the ejection call, though it was clear he didn’t like it.

The personal foul was called on the field after Davis launched himself to the head of tight end Jared Cook. Joe usually approves of those calls, but this was so fast in real-time; Joe didn’t agree with the ejection end of it.

If Cook turns up field or straightens up a quarter-second sooner, then things are different. After the flag, NFL officials in New York intervened and booted Davis.

Arians also repeated on the Buccaneers Radio Network that Davis “is our best corner.” If so, then Joe has to ask why Davis wasn’t shadowing Michael Thomas? Arians wouldn’t make excuses regarding how the Davis ejection upset the Bucs’ play. He called the loss of Davis, “disruptive to a point.”

So CD gave up a big play to MT on their first drive which resulted in a TD and got flagged that extended another drive but all 31 points were scored on VHG…..lol….

Let’s trade for lattimore…..he locked down Mike Evans with no pass rush and no safety help…..

And MT is just so chump the saints pulled off the street Friday….lol….

    GO BUCS

But hey atleast the refs proved you can blatantly pusj off too as long as you play for NO.

I was watching the game with my kid and as soon as I saw the replay I told him “you watch, he’s gone.” These guys are so big and fast and it happens so quick I hate how they’ve taken this out of football. Don’t like the call at all but…. they did just suspend a guy for the rest of the year and said he had another bad hit that game. Crap call but with what they’re doing in the nfl it didn’t surprise me.

    Brucie got out coached

The whole coaching staff got out coached…..again

Just give them flags and dresses already….

Vh3bust couldn’t cover me running with a bong in one hand and a stripper on my back….

I do love myself a good hit but to be honest that one was hard to watch.

Crown of the helmet right to the face….Ouch.

I’m certain that ejection happened just cause of how bad that hit looked………I’d call that a PR ejection.

Any real football fan sees that play and knows there was nothing malicious about it. Carlton was trying to make a play. That’s all there was too it. In mine opinion it was just bad luck and he just ran into a facemask……..The NFL is trying to limit that play so did what they needed to do. But I would wager that even the NFL knows that play is always going to happen in football.

It was a good football play with bad luck involved. I’m glad Bruce said that’s the way they train their players & do not change a thing. Bad luck happens and the NFL has decided to punish that bad luck via suspension………….I guess some folks don’t like to see hard hits in football I have have no idea what they expect to see in a football game. If you don’t like hard hits and dont wanna see them then why in the heck are you watching freaking football for……..I have absolutely no idea which fans these NFL suits are catering too but they darn sure aren’t anybody I’ve ever watched a football game with.

    Outplayed out coached

  10. Pelbuc61 Says:

When Davis is your best corner, that pretty much tells you all you need to know.

  11. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

“Carlton Davis is our best corner!” Any coach that has to say this has a horrid secondary. Davis sucks just as bad as all the others!

  12. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Lol Pel I didn’t see your post until after I commented. Agreed!

  13. JimmyJack Says:

TDTB disagree……Davis can cover. He can be a asset to this defense. Only problem is he can only cover one man.

But hey to each their own. Let’s let Carlton comd back from his ejection and show us how good or bad he really is. I think he’ll trade your mind.

    GOOO BUCS!!!

  14. Bob in Valrico Says:

I don’t get why Davis was taught to tackle so high. Hard hitting a must but there are plenty of other places on the body to deliver a crunching blow that
can dislodge the ball and not get a penalty.

  15. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

“He’s the tallest midget in our secondary circus/carnival.” BA

Cryin’ Sean Payton will get every courtesy call this season. Bellyached so much they changed the current PI “review-ability” to the shat show it currently is. Fact remains he mismanaged the clock and blew the playcalling before the non-call PI.

  16. bogiedr Says:

Can we please cut him, waive him, place him on the practice squad?? Please? He was TOAST more times than Rod Jones, whose nickname WAS TOAST!!! If you guys are too young to remember or know, please look it up!! Hargreaves stinks!

  17. Bob in Valrico Says:

Meaningless accountability board if Davis is the top corner. He has done too good a job of getting the refs attention. That said no corner played well and the ejection may have saved Davis from being exposed also. Maybe we need four corners on the field for passing downs.

  18. Boltsfan17 Says:

“Our best corner”???? Good Lord Arians, Bucs are in bigger trouble than I thought.

  19. Barbosa Says:

The ejection is ridiculous. Who are these “ football gods “ in New York who kick out players with a snap of their fingers? It really sucks.

  20. FanO’Bucs Says:

It’s crazy to witness the organizational failure that amounts to years of not being able to fix a secondary. Let’s hope it happens soon

  21. James Says:

What is crazy is, they throw out Davis for that hit, but let the safety in Baltimore almost decapitate Mason Rudolph and yet he stays in the game. It all depends on who it is. If it’s a rookie, you can be assured he’s going to be made an example of.
