No Trades For The Bucs
October 29th, 2019It’s official.
The Bucs couldn’t find a trade partner today.
Joe just might head over to Abe’s Place to get a jump on the weekend’s ice cold beer intake.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network took to Twitter and shared that the Bucs didn’t trade anyone. Of course, technically the Bucs could have moved draft picks for a player, but the annual trade deadline has passed and nothing has happened.
So here is Tampa Bay at 2-5 with the season nearly flushed down the toilet. Of course, a win Sunday in Seattle would re-ignite hope, while a loss would finish the flush.
The Bucs are free to trade players after the season, so hope is not lost when it comes to a roster purge that nets draft ammunition for the spring.
It’s important to remember that Bucco Bruce Arians has only coached seven games. He’s not carrying around the baggage of 11 no-playoffs seasons like fans are. He’s not 6 1/2 years into intense counseling like so many Bucs fans.
It’s likely Arians sees a team that should have beaten the Giants and the Titans (his opinion) and be sitting at 4-3 preparing to gel after a brutally long road trip.
Joe predicted the Bucs to finish 7-9 this season and that’s still in play. And frankly, Joe would bet a few nickels that Arians told Team Glazer last January that he expects the Bucs to be a 7- or 8-win team, but we’ll never know the truth there.

Suckaneers baby!!!!!!
October 29th, 2019 at 4:25 pm
In denial…they are in total rebuild. BA can say what he wants but he has a rookie QB and an inconsistent OL/RB. I fully believe at this point that BA and Licht will be gone at years end or the fans will mutiny.
October 29th, 2019 at 4:26 pm
wheres the other 5 wins coming from??
October 29th, 2019 at 4:27 pm
6-10.
Status woe for the Jason Licht reign of terror. I suppose the Bucs make plenty of money from the fools that are Totally Confident with Licht.
October 29th, 2019 at 4:28 pm
The Bucs are not a 7-9 team. Coulda shoulda woulda regarding the Giants and Titans games. This team finds ways to lose and has done so for over a decade now. This is exactly what bad teams do. They find a way somehow to lose games.
October 29th, 2019 at 4:28 pm
“Light you made this mess now deal with it. You have waisted our money in free agency, waisted draft pics, and coerce us into giving you a TOTALLY undeserved extension. Either win with these guys or your getting the Jazzy Jeff treatment from the fresh prince of Bellaire.” Joel G.
October 29th, 2019 at 4:29 pm
I guess you can’t improve on imperfection. Or its just nobody wants to trade with a perennial loser who have delusions that half their players are future pro bowlers.
October 29th, 2019 at 4:29 pm
The only way to cure this team of the losing culture is to fight their way out of this 2-5 hole. Forget about the playoffs, learn how to win first. And if the team quits, then purge the roster in the off-season. Colts were 1-5 last year, finished 10-6, it can be done.
October 29th, 2019 at 4:29 pm
Told you all we weren’t going to do anything at trade deadline this team is extremely close to putting it all together and oh yeah JW is going to be extended believe that haters

if the glazers are really planning to move the team to london, then the long term plan over the past handful of years and moving forward is to just keep the team afloat until the actual move..no need to win and get fans attached and then bounce…

Good teams win, great teams cover….given the Bucs are neither of those, I’ll bet we end with 6 wins (over under 6.5 for the season) and just miss the cover. Gay’s missed chip shot being the difference.
October 29th, 2019 at 4:35 pm
So building a training facility in Tampa makes the glazers want to move to London. Dumb. Bucs will stay in Tampa. Now … I can see bucs playing half of home games in London. But moving I don’t think so.

The Bucs are not a 7 or 8 win team. Besides Atlanta, I don’t see another game on the schedule where they will be favored. And maybe not even the game in Atlanta. We will be lucky to finish 4-12.

Personally I think we should have made a temporary trade. We could have loaned OJ Howard to the Patriots for the remainder of the season. Of course we get him back in the off season. The Patriots ship us a 5 th rounder for his use this year. Then Billicheck could show the Bucs proper way to use OJ….lol
October 29th, 2019 at 4:49 pm
I wonder how many teams called to inquire about Winston? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
October 29th, 2019 at 4:50 pm
Joe, I doubt BA told the Glazers this was a 7,8 win team. Even if he did, he lied. Bruce, and Licht said talent wasn’t an issue, BA said this would be a quick turn around. You cover the Bucs, when Arains was hired did he say this is a 7 win team, and it’s going to take time? No, he told us all he had a good roster, and a great QB, just need a little whispering. The Glazers could’ve kept Koetter if they only wanted 7 wins, they, and us were sold on BA taking this team to the playoffs. Don’t change history.
October 29th, 2019 at 4:51 pm
Anything to show the fans you care, anything!!!
October 29th, 2019 at 4:52 pm
Don’t draft a rookie QB next year. Build the team around the QB first, starting with the trenches! Raekwon Davis and Tristan Wirfs.
And of course I am legally bound to root for the Bucs to pick up Warren Jackson out of Colorado State as an UDFA after the draft. Man is a 6’6 matchup nightmare, and CSU has put several receivers into the league in recent years (Michael Gallup, Rashard Higgins, Preston Williams, Olabisi Johnson), surprising for how small the football program is.
October 29th, 2019 at 4:58 pm
What a waste of talent, BA isn’t going to use him as a receiver. Might as well sub him out and constantly bring in a 6th O-lineman.
October 29th, 2019 at 5:03 pm
No one inquired about Winston.

I’ll stand firm at 3-13 until they get 2 more wins which I’m not confident they can…
Arizona looks like they could win against this team.
They play the Falcons twice which means the Falcons could single handedly put the Bucs back into Bucs cove by season end!
October 29th, 2019 at 5:10 pm
Cardinals play thursday night so it will give them a couple of extra days to prepare. Plus they can watch their division rival play the yucs.
October 29th, 2019 at 5:15 pm
Dirk Koetter is going to drop 40 pts each game vs the Bucs
Only way they stop Koetter from getting his revenge is if Atlanta fires him
October 29th, 2019 at 5:16 pm
@Son of Kobe Faker, harsh criticism and opinions are fair game and perfectly acceptable, but constantly calling people derogatory names in anonymous comment sections is the purview of a weak escalated little coward who would never dare do so as man face-to-face.
October 29th, 2019 at 5:16 pm
Unless no action is a mistake (who knows)…….at least we didn’t make a mistake today…..we still have all of our players……pretty hard to trade FAs at the end of the year…..good luck with that.
October 29th, 2019 at 5:16 pm
Did anyone expect any trades, seriously? JBF? Anyone?
You should know better by now.
October 29th, 2019 at 5:17 pm
Until this team stops turning the ball over they will not beat ANYONE! Fans are digging too deep into the issue and who’s fault it is. What if Brady had Evans, Godwin, Howard, Brate, and Ronald Jones? They could have the last place D and still win most of their games with those guys.
October 29th, 2019 at 5:18 pm
3-13
After 11 straight losses they will beat Atlanta week 17 after their new kicker misses a game winning field goal which will be the difference in picking 5th or 7th in the draft.

October 29th, 2019 at 5:24 pm
There are only two (main) reasons the Bucs have been so bad for the last decade…….Freeman and Winston own the last 10 years of turnover football. This team has 8-8 talent but they are fumbling, bumbling, stumbling into every Sunday’s game. If Ray Lewis played on this team Winston would quit football and return to where he should have stayed playing baseball.

Bucs don’t need no stink’n trades. They will win out and go to the playoffs! The Glazers will double ticket prices and every game will sell out before the season even starts. And the bucs will go 1-15 in 2020.
October 29th, 2019 at 5:29 pm
I have a feeling Sunday is going to be ruff. You thought it was bad against Carolina and TN. Well try beating Seattle in Seattle with those fans and how loud it is. You thought the fumbles, Interceptions and Delay of games were bad before we might see a whole new suck come Sunday…
October 29th, 2019 at 5:33 pm
of course there were no trades. outside of evans this roster is GARBAGE! No body wanted anyone on this roster of overpaid below average talent.
October 29th, 2019 at 5:35 pm
I’m checking the weather for the best day to picket and protest outside One Buc Palace with the “Fire Licht” signs.
October 29th, 2019 at 6:00 pm
We all know what would’ve happened if Howard had been traded to the Pats. He would’ve immediately excelled and become an impact player.
That would’ve just added to the Licht endless list of personnel disasters he’s now famous for.
October 29th, 2019 at 6:01 pm
Reality is this…..Arians is on the payroll for the next 5 yrs, as is Licht. The Glazers dont unload entire staffs and bring in a totally new staff. If Arians or Licht is let go, somebody below them will get promoted up. From a coaching perspective, that’s a downgrade. From a GM perspective, can it really be worse?
Disappointing they didn’t make a move for Bell…..that would have created a buzz and real opportunity to change the dynamics of our offense. The weapons for winston has been a fail….He needs a run game and minimized drop backs. Control the clock and Winston’s ability to screw up, we might actually find a winning formula.
October 29th, 2019 at 6:01 pm
Right now so far I don’t have any issues with B.A. and company , I wasn’t expecting to much out him in first season as far a complete turnaround for the bucs….But the Glazers are totally responsible for this franchise’s losing culture, I would love seeing their stankin a$$es sell the team and move far far away from football and never look back.
October 29th, 2019 at 6:08 pm
7 – 9 is not impossible. It sure beats double digit losses ….again
but Winston’s gonna have to get woke.
He started last game well with accurate short completed passes, playing mistake free for a series moving the ball but then somehow our play calling morphed into playing long ball. Jameis made some really nice throws to Evans but going longball also took to long to develop and bad things began to happen. Make Jameis be more methodical. When he’s scripted he looks like a champ.
October 29th, 2019 at 6:11 pm
This is either EXTREME cockiness on the part of BA (it has been said that his system takes half a season to learn, right?) or absolute delusion. We’ll know soon enough.

For those of you floating the London idea out of frustration or simple hate of Tampa Bay sports I have to point out that a guy named Kahn has a huge head start on the Glazers and even toyed with buying Wembley awhile back. Jags in London 4 games a year soon….
As far as trading goes. Well I am going to assume Licht or whoever called last April’s draft will be back so extra picks below the value of any talent yhe Bucs actually have is what you would get and since the Bucs can or will not draft any real need (OL, edge rusher, qb) or royally fail when they do (secondary and rb) then why are you upset Licht and company did not get more draft bullets to shoot the Bucs in the foot or the fans in the cojonnes again. Win prediction 4 dash 12 likely winning just enough (ironically against totally inept Koetter whose dirty birds go 3 dash 13 and then get a marquee player in the draft for their new coaching staff) and the Bucs get another CB or a Broderick Thomas like bust with the 6th overall pick.
BA talks accountability but if he walks the walk why have we not seen starters getting benched? Why is Barber, VH3, Jameis, Perriman ,etc not punished for ineptitude. No way the bench players can do worse. Give Ryan Griffan a chance if Winston fumbles again. Start Rojo. Release Perriman. Fire Licht. Oh yah and Fire Licht!!!!!
October 29th, 2019 at 6:49 pm
Hey, with 5 losses already, Bucs are half way to 6-10 with a lot of football left to play.

October 29th, 2019 at 7:11 pm
Called it. Weeks ago.
As to those claiming Arians doesn’t know how to use Howard, don’t you think he’d do so given the choice?
With the oline being what it is, he needs his best blocker back there.
On the bright side, Godwin is starting to show the ability to block. That will help.
As I’ve been stating…you guys would have had a fire sale halfway through Dungy’s first year. If you were fans back then.
October 29th, 2019 at 7:13 pm
No way Gump was gonna trade anyone. For one thing he’s running scared; scared that the Glazers will figure out what a fraud he is & can him. Lapdog will do exactly what BA says right now because BA is his protector.
More than that though, what we NEED no one will give us without asking for a king’s ransom in return, and BA can’t allow that if he expects to FIX this team next year. Bucs NEED 1-2 veteran, starting-quality OLinemen & no team will give that up. We NEED a veteran, starting-quality CB to take charge in our Secondary & help bring these youngsters along. Again, no team will give that up, not without a king’s ransom.
We’ve got what we’ve got for the rest of the year. Jameis will get pummeled & our running game will be mediocre game after game because our OLine stinks; we’ve already seen that. Our Secondary however SHOULD improve as they gain more experience. Biggest issue in my mind is will our defense improve fast enough to compensate for our deteriorating offense. Only time will tell.

Who gives a flying F if we win?? Bucs fans are still mad when we lose. Does not matter
October 29th, 2019 at 7:32 pm
I really think until the Glazer sons are gone we’re in trouble. The League (Goodell&owners) and league (everyone else) just doesn’t care about Tampa. The refs, camera coverage (even scheduling!) all put the Bucs at a competitive disadvantage to popular teams like, NYG, DAL, NE, NOLA, or others.
Second point: The G-Boys don’t seem to have the ability to hire/identify a good GM or head coach. We’ve seen how well that works in Washington. But I mean, if the money keeps coming in, it can’t be all bad, yeah?

But goes down a lot with a lot of turns (over)
October 29th, 2019 at 7:49 pm
Let’s think about some things. What are the primary weak spots on the team?
• Offensive Line
• Quarterback Play
• Cornerback Play
Jameis’ better games seem to come whenever the offensive line plays well. Few sacks/hits…fewer turnovers. This has been the case throughout his career. As sacks increased, so did his turnovers.
We all knew the offensive line had issues. I felt fairly secure that Cappa would work out, but right tackle has had issues for years. Dotson hasn’t been good for a while. But…if we can get the oline to play better going forward, Winston should play better. (I am not talking beyond this season with Winston).
So far as the CBs, they are young, and growing pains should have been expected (outside of VHIII). They need time to develop. Unfortunately, I’m not sure it will happen this year.
The method of practice should speed things up a little. Practices are structured for development and learning.
But honestly, we go through the same emotions every year in regard to new draft picks. The majority of fans expect them to instantly make a difference, but the is very rarely the case. Practically never. You might see one player excel right away (rarely) but the rest always need time.
Yet fans neglect to consider this every year.
We’re not even at the halfway point yet for this season. Joe talks like the season is over (or close to it), and maybe he is right. Maybe.
So the playoffs would be very difficult at this point. Heck, 8-8 seems like a dream right now.
Know what that means? No expectations. No emotional stress over a playoff spot. We can sit back and look for progress on a player by player basis. Or progress for each unit. Or coach.
I don’t know about you, but I am enjoying watching Jones and Vea progress, and I see other players starting to. Look for thing to enjoy.
Matt Gay has been an improvement. He is progressing as a kicker.
Davis is just starting to improve. Yes he makes mistakes, but has anyone noticed how much more often he has been tight on WRs? He’s improving. He’ll never be big on picks, but he could become a shutdown corner with just a little more growth.
There are bright spots. Focus on finding them if you want to get joy out of the remaining games.
October 29th, 2019 at 8:03 pm
Fans come to see their team win and get in the playoffs. Not watch preseason for the next year.
October 29th, 2019 at 8:09 pm
If the team isn’t winning or improving, then we should rebuild or at least make the changes to get back on track. Right now I see stupid losses and no assurance we are on a path to improving.
October 29th, 2019 at 8:23 pm
I mean at this point is anyone really surprised?

Im pleased. We lose. That’s what we do!!!
Y’all hate to hear it but I became a fan to losing franchise winning about .300 of their games. Now it’s the same so yeah I’m not mad.
The only player that really needs to be set an example out of is VH3!! Cutting him will do wonders and wake up the secondary. Every week he is the weakest link and that’s with JW 9 turnovers in 2 games. It has surpass that.
This will always be the main issue. Number 1 issue of the team is that corner spot. Carlton Davis is penalty machine and just barely ok. I thought he could be better he is a second stringer at best but Vh3 is so terrible and easy target every single play. There is not one route he can stop. We won’t be any good until that changes

And they only had the ball for 9:24!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BUT they had 14 points off of turnovers!

October 29th, 2019 at 10:01 pm
not giving credit to the qb credit for wr success is like a man taking credit for giving birth to a child….

It is kinda funny that they didn’t at least CUT Perriman’s worthless a**…
If it’s true that they could have gained a compensatory pick by letting him go, I have no idea why they wouldn’t.
Trading away one year assets is one thing.
Not cutting one year liabilities for compensation is another.
Perhaps the Bucs are on the cusp, and all of this is an overreaction?
History says different.
This franchise blows.

JAMEIS WINSTON IS ABOUT TO GET $$$ PAID $$$ AND WILL BE STARTING IN TAMPA IN 2020 … AND 2021 … AND 2022!
October 29th, 2019 at 10:35 pm
@ElioT No reasonable explanation, why Perriman was not cut, given compensatory pick……SEE THE Fricking Patriots – they have X+ compensatory pics, most years.
Oh well, a Bucs life…..this guy is NOT EVEN a downfield threat!!!!! He cannot run a semi-decent route, or catch a ball in-bounds, when a given…YIKES!!!!!
October 29th, 2019 at 10:46 pm
BA Redzone: They’d get a 5 or a 6 for Perriman if he was cut via compensation plus the higher pick they should get for Kwan (3 or 4). Guess BA has gone into tank mode…..
I keep thinking of a post Jean LaFitte posted about BA and the cult classic movie “Scanners”; yeah I think the old guy is pretty close to having his dome blow up except it is not Michael Ironside doing it; its Jameis, VH3, Perriman et al…. combining to do the man in…..

We will win 4 games this year.
This O-line won’t get better, not good enough to give JW time/trust to throw the ball. A good sign of a good line is rushing yards, we have sh** for rushing yards.
On a serious note, the only thing we can do to show were not happy with the team success is stop going to games and stop buying team gear, anything with TB Bucs on it. They will see it when they see their earning reports then and only then the Glazer’s might wake up and get rid of Licht.

SB
You can’t make a bottom line when you ignore context. I know, you think you’re actually applying it, let me explain. You’re insinuating that every single one of Winston’s turnover’s through almost 5 years resulted in an immediate short field and the opposing offense converted them into points 100% of the time. You’re essentially making the same excuses for the secondary that many accuse people of making for Winston. It’s been provocatively OBVIOUS that this secondary is the absolute worst on the planet. What about week 3 against NYG? That one second half INT was what caused the defense to blow an 18 point lead, eh? Your take is half baked, It’s silly… (we could go down the list of all these games and would bet hard cash there is MORE examples of him playing well enough to win than there are games that were just straight tanked by him turning it over, btw. I’m up for the challenge) Winston has his turnovers, sure, but at least he also shares many statistics with elite company and that type of play from him comes out anytime the offensive line has a solid day and the defense looks just average instead of abysmal (regardless of if you are willing to admit it or not). Funny how that works. There’s virtually NOTHING you can say for this secondary.
Another reason your logic needs to go back into the oven is because you’re implying that turnovers will automatically mean you either have a winning or losing season. It’s ridiculous. In 2010 Drew Brees had 22 INTS and the Saints went 10-6. Peyton Manning actually had ONE HUNDRED AND ONE…. I’ll repeat…. 101 turnovers in 5 years. THREE of those five seasons ended in 13-3, 10-6, 10-6. So what gives? Why is Jimmy Garoppolo top ten in turnovers in 2019 but the 9ers are undefeated? We all know the answer. Some of us just refuse to say it.
All together now: “It’s a team game”

Really, they couldn’t even cut Perriman to get a comp. pick?? I bet you anything that they will waive him in the offseason and we will get nothing.
If the Bucs really wanted to TRY they could’ve traded for a number of DBs this year… I’d gladly fork over TWO #1 picks for a shutdown corner (we’d probably only had to give ONE #1 and #2, cause our #1 would be a lot higher than say, the Rams)
We could have gotten Mikah Fitzpatrick, Jamal Adams.. Marcus Peters probably could have been a realistic pickup at CB
Bucs could have made a play for Tunsil to help out or OL or any number of players from these other teams who are having FIRE SALES.
If I were Licht I’d be happy to get rid of my draft picks, because so far, a tiny fraction have actually panned out!
We don’t have money is NOT an excuse! That’s a crutch. And please tell me how we don’t have any money and no good players. I’d be hard-pressed to find 5 players on this team I wouldn’t getting rid of!
There is something seriously wrong with this team and I’ll be damned if I’m going to support a team that does not give a flying f**k. If they don’t, why should I ?

@HereWeGoAgain At LEAST we hung onto our RB’s, and did not accept tempting trades for them….Oh wait —– you mean no offers???? Shocker!!!!
October 29th, 2019 at 11:17 pm
7 win team, HIRE THAT MAN….lol
October 29th, 2019 at 11:41 pm
We must think very highly of our secondary, rb to not a trade.
October 29th, 2019 at 11:48 pm
One interesting note is the Rams gave up BOTH their starting CBs (who are both good players and would easily start on the Bucs) for NOTHING … yes, NOTHING.
They traded Marcus Peters for a 5th … and then gave up a 5th to the Dolphins just to take Aquib Talib!
If the Bucs would’ve traded a 7th for Peters & Talib, the Rams would have received more than they ended up receiving for them, and the Bucs would have a far better defensive backfield than they have now … BUT … I think Arians believes in the “future” of Dean, Davis and Murphy-Bunting … and it’s about the future.

Talib is hurt on ir he could not help Bucs
October 29th, 2019 at 11:53 pm
OJ was the only player to even draw interest.
Apparently Belichick thinks he could be useful on a championship caliber team.
Left foot doesn’t know what to do with him. How can he be our OC?
A 2 yr QB coach who was terrible in AZ, gets promoted. Then tries to pass off a high school offense as an NFL offense. While Big Daddy Bruce stands by….

NFLN just reported LA received a5th for Talib and a 7th in 2022
Yes LA wanted him gone, but they got a 5th.

I have followed JoeBucsFan for years and read countless comments, commented here and there, and have dealt with the ups and mostly downs of the Bucs since 1990. I love this team. I love this site, and I hope sharing this doesn’t get me banned, but brings laughter, some boos, and raises an eyebrow after my bottle of Jameson pondering our latest loss. It’s not mine, it’s not used with permission just a fun share of a Licht conspiracy worth a watch…

As long as we have that charlatan GM in the front office, and that loser QB (.383% NFL winning percentage) on the field we will see the same garbage every game, every year.

@Coreyatx… really dude?….. Some people will just believe anything huh.
October 30th, 2019 at 10:53 am
Glad they didn’t make any trades so I can sit and laugh the rest of the season to see if we can make it to 5-11 again. Its going to be a challenge.
October 30th, 2019 at 5:15 pm
Looking at the rest of our schedule:
WE LOSE (2)
@ Seattle
@ Jacksonville
NOT LOOKING PROMISING (3)
Houston
Indianapolis
New Orleans – although we do typically play the Saints tough at home
SO YOU’RE SAYING THERE’S A CHANCE (2)
@ Detroit
@ Atlanta – they suck far worse than us but we typically find a way to lose here
PROBABLE WINS (2)
Arizona
Atlanta
If you split the games in the middle two categories that means we go 4-5 or 5-4 the rest of the way which equates to 6-10 or 7-9 which is exactly a 1-2 game improvement over Dirk and the last two years. 8-8 at this point doesn’t seem likely at all.

LMAO the burner account! Wake up Glazer’s!
