Bruce Arians: Bucs Suffering From “A Little Bit Of Lack Of Preparation”

October 23rd, 2019

Joe will let fellow Bucs fans read this and interpret it how they wish.

For a 2-4 football team, it was hard for Joe to hear this take and not want to hurl his laptop into the Gulf and then make the quick drive to Abe’s Place for nourishment and adult refreshment.

On Total Access, an official Buccaneers show that aired yesterday, Arians said he had a major message to convey to players for the bye week.

“I think our preparation level has to be better. We’re ok to start games, but not we’re not making enough of in-game and halftime adjustments, which is a little bit of lack of preparation maybe,” Arians said. “A little more film study, just put a little more time into it so we can make in-game adjustments a little bit better.”

What should Joe think of that take from Arians, the accomplished coach presiding over a veteran and historically huge coaching staff?

Man, Joe sure hopes the Bucs figure out enough by Sunday to beat the Titans.

I think you meant suffering from Low T!!!

Bucs Suffering From “A Little Bit Of Lack Of Preparation H”

Buc’s fans need Preparation H in order to watch this team.

  3. Robert Says:

as to preparation. thats simple. prepare for a minimum of 3 turnovers by americas grop.. and we win

  4. Pete I Says:

BA’s Golf Cart doesn’t need Preparation H it just needs a little lube to get it on!

BA’s Golf cart is the most consistent member of this rather large coaching staff.

  5. Frank Pillow Says:

It’s the Buccaneers’ very own “chicken and egg” question…

    ”it’s the players/it’s the coaching.”

  6. DBS Says:

And exactly who is in charge to make sure they are prepared? Get off your damn golf cart.

Boilerplate coach speak…has a whole Rolodex of them labeled 1-16

  8. Mike Johnson Says:

I’m prepared every single GD Sunday..to lose. I line my shots of libations up prior to kickoff like a priest giving communication. That way when the final losing score is shown, I give..No F’s.

  9. LordCornelius Says:

When you’re losing there aren’t going to be many inspirational quotes or things to celebrate. Just things to ponder about negatively while questioning your own sanity for even following this team. That’s what this organization has done to us for over a decade now.

    It’s a Bucs life.

  10. Pete I Says:

Bruce “Preparation H” Arians and his Golf Cart and Jameis “Meaningless Stats” Winston.

    The terrific trio!

  11. Tampabuscsbro Says:

I am convinced we wanted to be competitive going into this season. But after the week 1 performance Arians is convinced he cannot win with his QB and we started tanking.

  12. Robert Says:

I love how everyone is jumping off the BA train…..it really is funny, yet we still have so many ******* who support americas turnover machine, serial criminal

  13. Bucamania Says:

Time to kick some arse then BA! One thing that cannot be tolerated is a lack of preparation. That’s just ridiculous. And yes, it shows on the field.

    ‘Suffering from Low T’ lol

  14. Pete I Says:

I hope the Glazers have hemorrhoids after hearing that quote. Of course they have the $ to buy an ounce of prevention! So the only ones left itchy by BA and his Golf Carts statement is the fans.

  15. james west Says:

to many damn cooks spoils the damn pot, to many voices silence’s what needs to be spoken and heard, we have an immature QB who once he get rattled, or gets put to turf too many times, or things are not going his way, begins to retaliate with cheap shots remember the headbutt, the face grab and lift off, the running from the sideline to push a defender, he’s like a child who will not listen and is hell bent to show mom and dad he’s right and can do it his way, i see a team who have for the most part quit, mailing it in, whatever you want to call it, defense, offense, special teams, there is no leader, maybe this will change when JPP gets back because there is no quit in that freak of nature

  16. Stanglassman Says:

I give the guy credit for doing and giving an honest self scout opinion. Not sure I’ve ever heard a Buc coach come up with this conclusion even when it was obvious to the fans.

  17. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Unbelievable

All these coaches and we aren’t prepared?

And then we give the players this past week off?

    #BAPAIDVACATION

  18. ClodHopper Says:

He’s not prepared to use the TEs. He’s not prepared to start the better RB.

  19. Brandon Says:

I’ve always said that it takes six games for teams to learn a new offensive system and adjust to a new coach… we’re six games in now. Either sink or swim. We’ve seen excellent performances by the offense, and solid performances by the defense… but we haven’t seen consistency. This is the time where the players should know their assignments and their X’s and O’s… no more excuses. If we can come out of the bye and pull off a W, then there is hope. If we don’t, all hope is lost.

Thing is, despite what some might want you to believe, this is not a team with no talent. There is plenty of talent on the team. The top four pass catchers are excellent. The RBs are not bad, half the OLine is good. The QB position can be good at times. On D, there is talent. The D-Line is good. The LBs are good… the secondary, not so good right now but super young and too early to give up on. Carlton Davis has the makings of a very good cover CB. The jury is out on Bunting and Dean… but their physical talent is top tier and worth trying to develop. The safeties are young and physically talented. Jordan Whitehead is already a pretty good one.

  20. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Not prepared to bench Vern…..

  21. tmaxcon Says:

He is prepared for retirement…. All Aboard the glazer retirement express. A first class, stress free nonstop train ride to peace of mind…. bring as many assistants as you like!!!!!! All Aboard!!!!

  22. D-Rome Says:

And some of you thought this was a playoff team…..shame on you.

  23. TampaTown Says:

W…T…F are you kidding me. The Glazers are paying a 100 coaches at your request and none of them can make in-game or halftime adjustments? Then they’re not good coaches. Has anyone suggested improving the pass rush also improves the secondary (see: Lynch, John). Just in case you or your 100 other coaches haven’t heard that one before either.

  24. JimmyJack Says:

About time somebody that matters said it………Oh we don’t prepare hard enough? No crap dude. We been watching it for years. Our last regime ended with the last TD we surrendered was wide open because 3 Tampa defenders all run into one another.

I hope Bruce knows what he’s doing and can fix this problem. And hopefully we got enough hard working players to build on.

  25. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

Probably went to the BA “well” a little too late in his life. I was all for the hiring…I almost feel bad for him. He’s a loyal guy and he finally realizes the shat show his pal Licht Weight has been running into the ground/Year 6. There’s no quick fixes or easy answers here. BA has to be wondering what he got himself into. A cancer survivor taking on the “tumor” that is the Tampa Bay Bucs for the past dozen years and counting.

  26. Kord Says:

I just hope they get prepared for Tennessee. I’ll hope over the bar and start guzzling straight from the taps if we lose to Ryan Tannehill….

  27. Buczilla Says:

Huge staff with a$$ tons of experience and they are unprepared? I get maybe over thinking things and maybe too many cooks in the kitchen, but wtf kind of answer is that? I can’t help but laugh at that since it’s so ridiculous. What a pathetic joke this team has become under the Glazer kids, but karma’s a b!tch and it’s taking what’s due for f’ing around with soccer those few years. I need to go pet my dog I’m so p!$$ed. 🤣

  28. Mike in MO Says:

    BA = Snake-oil salesman

  29. Defense Rules Says:

BA should’ve given that ‘We’ve got to prepare better’ speech to himself BEFORE giving it to the media. Bucs were AHEAD at the end of the first half of the Giants game 28-10, with us having home-field advantage. Giants adjusted at halftime; we didn’t. Giants win 32-31. Our offense scored 3 points TOTAL in the 2nd half against a bad defense. Bucs defense allowed 22 points … 3 TDs … in the 2nd half against a bad offense. Inexcusable loss on BOTH sides of the ball AND on S/Ts. And yes, I’d say that your 2nd half adjustments BA REALLY SUCKED. MAYBE you as a HEAD COACH should’ve been a tad more ACCOUNTABLE?

  30. TampaTown Says:

    Kord:
Make sure someone gets that on video!

I used to be a happy person now I’m just screaming WTF out loud all the time mostly in my car while listening to an Ira Kaufman podcast. This is what I’m reduced to.

  31. Bucsfanman Says:

Thank you Lord Corn! You summarized Buc fandom perfectly:

“When you’re losing there aren’t going to be many inspirational quotes or things to celebrate. Just things to ponder about negatively while questioning your own sanity for even following this team.”

  32. LJsDaddy Says:

Joe…not related to the Bucs on this comment. Thanks for calling that large body of salty water to your west, the GULF! I live in Destin, people constantly call it the ocean. The ocean is on the other side of Florida! It may technically be an ocean…but it is the GULF. Well done Joe.

  33. TampaTown Says:

    Joe:

Yes and while you’re at it could you tell all major media that TampaBay is a body of water and does not have a zip code.

  34. ruggyup@gmail.com Says:

It is disappointing to hear coaches, assistant coaches, owners and team team leaders respond to a difficult question or situation with, “I THINK”.
This guy says, BS, who cares what you “think” WTFU do you KNOW, what is your plan to fix and improve the problems. Bucs perennial public face, lots of think and no, KNOW.

  35. Sharthappens Says:

Why joe. We have a coach for every two players. Why are we not prepared?

  36. Howard Cosell Says:

Accountability starts at the top..and by “the top” I mean OWNERSHIP

  37. Howard Cosell Says:

We’re not prepared because 90% of the players know that glasers could care less and run a walmart franchise…and that no HC or GM can change that

  38. Mister Negative Nancy Says:

Fire the cannons? no, FiRE THE GLAZERS!

  39. ancientasbuc Says:

I think the main take away from his comment is that he thinks the issues are solvable. He seems to be never surprised and has a ” I have been here” attitude. There are no magic potions and his team can get there.

  40. Alanbucsfan Says:

What should Joe think of that take from Arians, the accomplished coach presiding over a veteran and historically huge coaching staff?

I would put that more on the veterans on this team who are known for finishing games poorly and are accustomed to losing.
    – Part of the losing culture that permeates- more house cleaning is needed.

  41. SchlomieBarmitzvahCircumScissorStein Says:

How could the millionaires not be prepared?

  42. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

Man I almost miss Dirk after hearing these comments

Hard to go from retired to working again and this just proves you shouldn’t bring back retired coaches who just want to be figure heads riding golf carts

  43. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

I am glad to see the fans pissed off !
Waiting for the next Chris Thomas or Steve Duemig to step forward in this town
    Enough is enough !
The local media’s don’t seem to be able to say Sh** after taking a bite out of the same Sh** sandwich year after year

  44. Clw JB Says:

Sunday win and everyone is back on the “it’s early, still time to recover the season” train…

Sunday loss, 2-5, means season is over and if you think the comments today are harsh….

    3-4 vs. 2-5 – how sad a reality already….

  45. Buc believer Says:

Put a pipe in his mouth and a Pom Pom on his hat and you have Santa Clause

  46. richbucsfan Says:

My take on all this has to do with all the rumors about Howard. I think back when Lovie Smith was the HC. He gutted to Oline and we have yet to recover from those stupid moves. For anyone to think that a guy in his second year in the NFL after a stellar career at Alabama is trade bait is repeating history, dumb move history. I don’t like it when a new coach washes his hands after 6 weeks’ worth of play. Makes no sense.

  47. Anonymous Says:

All the great coaches in NFL history spend practice visibly disengaged “participating” (as Bruce calls it) from a golf cart.

    Loserville.

  48. Anonymous Says:

Good, I thought it was just about needing to play better.

  49. sincethebeginning Says:

BA needs to start looking in the mirror. I’m tired of hearing all this praise for how “honest” he is when clearly he is a master at deflecting accountability away from his own self. The man’s ego is m-a-s-s-i-v-e. If he can’t include his own errors when he’s so “honest” with the media, then he needs to at least get back to being more directly involved. This “coaching the coaches” thing is clearly not working if we’re going into halftime unprepared to make adjustments and execute them in the second half. He’s a professional BS artist and not a professional coach right now.

  51. The Coy Says:

    IT’S COACHING 😜

  52. BA FAN Says:

All BA needed to do was order his DC to play man to man and have White be a spy on the QB and just use Vernon as a slot corner only. Expecting Vernon to take on the leading receiver every week is poor Coaching!
