“You Are Riding Him Until He Taps Out”
September 10th, 2019Yes, it is in vogue to beat the piñata that is America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, for his sickening pick-six that doomed the game Sunday.
Lost in the focus on Jameis is that Ronald Jones finally showed signs of life as an NFL back. He led all running backs with 75 yards on 13 carries.
In an exclusive sitdown with Dan Lucas of WFLA-TV Channel 8, Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians said the way Jones ran Sunday against the 49ers is the same way he ran in practices in August.
In a perfect world, Arians told Lucas he would like to use Jones like a closer in baseball and he pounds the defense, chews up chunks of yards and eats the clock.
“He had the hot hand and he was breaking tackles and that is what we expected,” Arians said. “That is what he has done all camp. …
“You are riding him. You are riding him until he taps out.”
Sadly, the Bucs didn’t have a lead late in the second half where they could have used Jones to close out a game. Perhaps that may happen Thursday night?

He should be the starter, and pound them with Barber
September 10th, 2019 at 7:10 am
People gave up way too early on Jones last year. Good lesson not to call players a bust after only one year.
September 10th, 2019 at 7:28 am
Sarasota … I didn’t understand that ‘closer’ comment either. RoJo is supposed to be our breakaway threat, our explosive back. That doesn’t seem like the guy you’d wait until the 4th qtr to use when the defense would be more keying on the run (assuming we were ahead of course).
September 10th, 2019 at 7:34 am
People didn’t “give up” on Jones last year. He did nothing to warrant any type of confidence last year. This was the FIRST game that we have seen him be productive.
He looked good out there.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Rojo run between the tackles…..and we did open up some holes for a change…
I still don’t like our running plays in the red zone…..they haven’t worked there for 15 years…..and it’s certainly a mistake to run it twice like we did….it puts too much pressure on Jameis with 3rd and some…..usually an incompleted pass or a sack.
September 10th, 2019 at 7:38 am
he really had about 10 carries for 85 yards….
and got stacked up for losses on about 3 carries that the line totally collapsed on him…so 3 carries for like -10 yards…
thus equaling: 13 carries for 75 yards
September 10th, 2019 at 7:39 am
Run between the tackles…not to be a party pooper…Panthers DC saw this and understands the Bucs OL is not good enough to run outside the tackles until they prove they can….hence the DC will take away the inside run game until proven wrong
September 10th, 2019 at 7:40 am
its in vogue to bash Winston because his antics have been the storyline for 5yrs of losing ..jamies is the samies..
September 10th, 2019 at 7:45 am
Agree with Sarasota, start with Rojo and pound it with Barber late!
September 10th, 2019 at 7:49 am
rojo is moving at a different speed than barber…barber is more like a bowling ball with limited vision…if rojo gets more comfortable hopefully his vision and patience will increase as well…as of now we do not have a back on the team with great vision and patience to feel out the right hole or proper cut…hopefully rojo has it in him and just needs to relax and get heavily into game flow for it to surface

The niners game was one of the four wins that I projected for the year. 0-2 start after the Panthers game.
September 10th, 2019 at 7:52 am
3-13
September 10th, 2019 at 7:56 am
LOL! are you kidding me perhaps we will have a lead at the end on thursday night and we can ride Jones till he taps out–really!?! CMC will be riding all night and we are playing catch up throwing piks like crazy, I will still watch but honestly I would like for us to get a new QB and thx to Jameis and and his ability to lose the game we should have first pick of 2020 draft.
September 10th, 2019 at 8:32 am
What good is having the first pick in the draft if Licht is doing the picking? He’s already 0-1 picking QB’s with the first overall pick, and his entire body of work is 27-54. With the first pick in the draft the Tampa Bay Bucs select QB Bullwinkle from Whats A Matter U!!

Hodad is throwing in the towel on his mancrush. Glad to see you have joined the good side. You are not as ignorant as I thought you were
September 10th, 2019 at 8:53 am
Alstott made a fan of this funny farm, and man do I miss watching him play!!! CAN WE PLEEEEEEEASE get a BIG BACK to compliment ROJO. What’s BLOUNT doing these days, miss him too. Say what you want but angry runs are the BEST! The day of the FB have past but a 4th qtr beast would be a welcomed addition. They just don’t grow on trees.

Perhaps they shouldn’t even throw the ball and just run the RB’s on every single play. Jameis is a liability … smh

Bucsfanman Says
“People didn’t “give up” on Jones last year.”
Ahem.
That is bull. There were only two people who did not give up on Jones…myself and Cmurda. Everyone else literally labelled him a bust. And I mean EVERYONE.
Plenty of proof of that in the backposts.
Tampa is made up of bandwagoners. They’re in denial of course, but it’s true. When one game can turn you against a player, you are a bandwagon fan.

Hodad Says:
” He’s already 0-1 picking QB’s with the first overall pick”
Revisionist history. Licht had no choice but to pick Jameis. Lovie had already convinced the Glazers, so he had to fall in line. There are even public statements supporting this.
September 10th, 2019 at 9:47 am
i say start rojo and pound them late with dare….
GO BUCS!!!!!
September 10th, 2019 at 10:28 am
Everyone else literally labelled him a bust. And I mean EVERYONE.
I f’kn didn’t
September 10th, 2019 at 10:38 am
Bonzai- Not to split hairs here but, what was there to give up on? He did nothing last year. NOTHING!
For Jones it wasn’t “one game” either.
You’re right about the “bandwagon” fans. I remember pre-Dungy being in the stands with 30,000 Buc fans where you could get a ticket for a song. They started winning and suddenly EVERYBODY was a fan. It’s the same here at work. Not a single soul from outside the Tampa Bay area, some 30-40 people, and THREE, count ’em, THREE Bucs fans here!
I was told yesterday that I, “Needed to root for a different team!” To which I replied, “And what, miss out on all this winning!”

Anyone know why Freeman didnt do sh!t for Atlanta. Was it koetter r the new additions to ATL oline 🤷♂️
September 10th, 2019 at 1:01 pm
I was saying calling rojo a bust was stupid af last year cuz of the fact that Freeman didnt do sh!t with koetter there n he became the starter and a d@mn good one at that now i know it was only week one but Freeman did nothing (i didnt see the game) but koetter not utilizing him sur af wouldnt surprise me
September 10th, 2019 at 1:04 pm
Bucfan37 i thought the same thing especially at the end of the game n that is sad af. Unfortunately that is a bucs life home games r like away games for us. Thats why that schedule shouldnt make a big difference except for all the traveling miles
