The Mystery Of Carl Nassib
September 6th, 2019He is crazy.
He is missing a screw.
He has multiple personalities.
He is a financial advisor.
He is an acquaintance of Taylor Swift.
He is an opponent of social media.
And he isn’t awful getting to the quarterback.
Who is this mystery man? It is Bucs outside linebacker Carl Nassib.
The above sentences are all used by different people to describe Nassib. But Nassib, when approached, clams up which is normal for him.
Something of an enigma to the outside world aside from the prying cameras of “Hard Knocks,” Nassib’s teammates love him. So much so that roughly a year after getting cut by the winless Browns and being signed by the desperate-for-pass-rushers-but-won’t-draft-one Bucs, Nassib was elected by teammates this week as a Bucs captain.
In this report by Kevin O’Donnell of WTVT-TV Channel 13, O’Donnell tries to dig for the real personality of Nassib. But the Penn State grad, true to his nature, reveals little and hides behind a cloak of cliches.
His teammates and coaches, however, do pull back the covers.
He’s been called “Psycho”, “Crazy” with “Multiple Personalities” and that’s just from his teammates. Who is the Bucs “Captain Carl.” Watch and find out. #GoBucs @Buccaneers pic.twitter.com/bTQb4ldDIK

He has no trouble getting to the QB, problem is he doesn’t wrap him up and take him down. At least he should swat the ball out of his hands.
September 6th, 2019 at 10:06 am
I guess “the Riddler” and “Batman”…played on the same team last year.
September 6th, 2019 at 10:11 am
He has a great bull rush. Would like to see him lined up at TE for goal line plays.
September 6th, 2019 at 10:17 am
time for consistency…. I realize this will come as a total shock to most bucfans but greatness takes more than a few good plays or years even…. great ones do it consistently over a long period of time… can he be great who knows but I prefer his attitude and work ethic over cancer93’s the undisputed leader of the losing culture and face of the basement years.
September 6th, 2019 at 10:24 am
K2 Nice 1. I think Nassib will show at times but not having JPP on the other side means the OL/blocking will shift toward Nassib. He does not do well when double teamed due to size.
September 6th, 2019 at 10:25 am
Carl has done absolutely CRAP in the off season and he didn’t have a good camp either
……….why is he even on this team??????????
September 6th, 2019 at 10:28 am
great team attitude, apart from good numbers……When those things come together in the same person you have a good NFL player, and that´s what Nassib is so far…….

I like crazy when it’s a lineman.
QB……… not so much.
Go get him Killer Carl Rocks!!
September 6th, 2019 at 10:36 am
@TheBucsAnthem
Carl has impressed the coaching staff enough to make him a starter at a new position this off season.
Carl has impressed his team mates enough to vote him Captain this off season.
Taylor Swift was impressed enough this off season to name her latest chart busting album, “Lover”, after Carl.
What have you done this off season besides b!tch?

I guess on a team with few legit stars the Glazers and the media need to pump up “psuedo-stars”……guys who have never done a damn thing in the NFL
Psuedo = “closely or deceptively resembling the real thing”

Carl.. set up, you’re at the big boy table, time to eat or be eaten!!!
September 6th, 2019 at 11:25 am
I’ve laid this out before but I don’t think anyone’s noticed:
JPP 2018 stats – 58 tackles / 12.5 sacks on 933 snaps (89% of Defensive plays)
Carl Nassib 2018 stats – 29 tackles / 6.5 sacks on 598 snaps (57% of Defensive plays)
If Nassib got as much play time as JPP he would have projected for over 10 sacks and close to 50 tackles.
He also graded out higher per PFF than JPP. So they likely counted more pressures or impact plays per snap for him.
GO BUCS!

Great video, when do you ever show your personality? I do you just got to become friends with me first. Nice!
Crazy Carl Nassib! Didn’t look or sound to crazy to me.
Good line from Jameis. Few screws missing. Roflmao
We need this player to keep Growing into “Our” system.
Very excited to see him play on Sunday. I love his crazy energy attitude. And his crazy Beat the man in front of me play. Wrap up Carl or run thru them. Drive them in the turf!

What, you believe in witchcraft? Go root for the Aints. Watch Bucs split wins with Panthers. Suh better match his billing. He wasn’t all that impressive in preseason.
September 6th, 2019 at 12:38 pm
Hilarious to read Buc “fans” in this thread ragging on Nassib. Aside from JPP, he was by FAR our best pass rusher, with 6.5 sacks and ton of pressures in 9 starts. He was one tiny bright spot in a defense that was a huge dumpster fire — a waiver wire pick-up that played great for us. And people are like “not consistent! Bad camp!”
These fans… unreal. smh

He only started 9 games last year and had 6.5 sacks in that time frame…

hell with those numbers graded with the buccanners CURVE factored in he’s a hall of famer already…
September 6th, 2019 at 2:40 pm
Drafting a pass rusher isn’t a panacea, Joe. How’d Spence work out. And they “drafted” a PROVEN pass rusher (3rd round) with the JPP trade. Picked up Barrett and Nassib. How are Armstead and Thomas working out for the Niners? Didn’t they draft them, and high?
September 6th, 2019 at 2:43 pm
Funny how the Niners DID draft a good player (and pass rusher) in Buckner though it took him a while…and it wasn’t until they moved him INSIDE. Didn’t the Bucs draft Vita? Isn’t he supposed to be athletic enough to be a pass rusher too? Joe is obsessed with the concept of an outside pass rusher to the point of borderline ignorance about anything else on the D, it seems.
September 6th, 2019 at 2:45 pm
When the next guy bangs his wife and his mother, someone will leave GMC alone.
September 6th, 2019 at 2:47 pm
Hard to believe the Browns cut him. One of the few good Licht moves.
September 6th, 2019 at 3:45 pm
haha forgot how entertaining he was on hard knocks that year.
Hope he can match / exceed his production from last year. I liked him coming out during the draft and was hoping we would nab him. Good on Licht for sweeping him up last year.
September 6th, 2019 at 4:56 pm
Still does not answer the question…Where is our dominant pass rush comin from this season?
September 6th, 2019 at 5:57 pm
Crazy to say but I hope they don’t play Vita for a few weeks and Nassib steps up for what we are missing in the middle.
It is all in Nassib’s hands now as this is a contract year for him. Wishing him the Best!
September 6th, 2019 at 6:01 pm
Suh’s kind of crazy. So was Sapp. GMC was just weird.
I’ll take Nassib and his crazy. We need more wild and crazy dogs on our team!

So by your train of thought, Carl Nassib should have been cut?
Heh.
Hope you are prepared to eat crow, buddy.

If you ever take the time to go through all of Jason Licht’s moves, you’ll see that he’s made a lot of good moves.
Go ahead. Look through his drafts, trades and free agent signings. It;s easy to point at the free Agents that did not work out, but he’s also had a lot who did.
