Yes, today was a disaster from America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.
Horrible.
And he and Bucs coaches can’t blame an absent running game or brutal defense. The veteran QB crapped the bed.
Twenty-one million apparently doesn’t buy what it used to — and neither does the cash for four dedicated QB coaches.
Jameis did all the things he’s not supposed to do any longer, fumble, needless interceptions and questionable decisions.
That last pick to ice the game, a pick-6, really stuck in the craw of former Bucs tight end Dave Moore, the team’s official radio analyst.
“Throw it at the feet of the running back where it’s supposed to go,” Moore said after the game.
He continued to wag a finger at Jameis: “You took an intentional grounding penalty when you had a guy in the flat,” he said. “You can’t go out Day 1 and have four turnovers and expect to win the football game” (referring to the Bucs as a whole).
Jameis is in a contract year. And for a solid starting quarterback, that means asking Team Glazer for $30 million per season with a few of those years guaranteed.
This mess was a negative in the contract column, one small step toward the NFL unemployment line.
If this was a road-game performance, Joe would feel differently. (See Matt Ryan) But this was just inexcusable on so many levels. The fans deserve better.

Like I said before..Our great secondary will earn every cent of their salaries. Garapplo had mega time to deliver his passes. where was the pass rush? And Jameis just solidified his career backup status role today. He will never be great.

only now does Ariens see the true Jameis Winston! He talks a great game, says all the right things, works hard in practice, but is a turnover machine on Sunday. Can’t hit a deep ball. Joe can’t stop whining about DeSeaun Jackson who had 158 yards and two touchdowns today. Winston is horrible and so is our O line. Hargraves looked a lot better today. Everything Joe said is true, running game defense showed up yet Jameis can’t stop throwing int’s one of them was on OJ but the other two were not acceptable. So embarassing to be a Buc fan with him. Most of the time I can’t watch without fully expecting an interception or sack fumble. I’ve had enough!

He was never going to be the franchise QB, nearly every QB that has come in after he was injured or was benched performed slightly better or a lot better then this guy. If he’s still making these mistakes why keep him? He’s not going to get better, this is who he is. Jamies Winston is a losing QB. And stop calling him “America’s QB” he shouldn’t even be Tampa’s QB. I have been coming here for years but I never comment. I like reading the opinions of all sides even if I disagree. I never been a Jameis homer but also thought he had potential just needed the right break. When we hire Arians I figured if he cant win with him he can’t win with anyone. Well today Jameis proved he will never be elite or even a solid NFL quarterback. Look around at the good QBs he just doesn’t have it upstairs. Maybe he can pitch for the biscuits and try mlb like Tebow. Or he can stay in Tampa……and play for the XFL team.

One comment used today’s disaster to defend Koetter. He must have been watching a different game because the stingy, attacking defense and the pounding RoJo run game I saw are further indictments of Koetter’s tenure. I guess you could use today to defend Koetter’s decision to bench Jameis but that’s it.

I was 1 of the guys who backed Jamies . For me to have any more confidence in him again he will have to play good and we get to the playoffs that’s the only shot now for me . I don’t want a rookie quarterback. I rather have a guy who at least plays ok . But at least we have a running back now and our defense looks like it’s going to be good. I don’t want to see Barber in the game no more.

It’s quite obvious at this point that Jameis isn’t our QB of the future. Far as I’m concerned he just about single-handedly lost today’s game. Totally unacceptable. What really floored me was that he looked lost out there … the ‘deer in the headlights’ look. For a 5th year QB, that’s inexcusable IMO.
On the good news side, our ‘new’ defense played lights-out I thought. Take away Jameis’ two pick-sixes and we won the ballgame. Take away the other two turnovers and our defensive performance would’ve looked even better. What a shame to waste such a stout defensive performance.

Towards the end of the game the 49ers were playing back up defense and Winston could not even do anything against them. RG4 was very efficient against back ups in preseason, he knows the offense, he stays calm and poised, is more accurate and can complete a long pass. Alsi since OJ ayed so bad, if it continues, I say bench him for Hudson who catches everything he gets a hand on.

I agree, I myself blame the entire passing offense. Dropped passes, receivers falling when running their routes (See Peyton Barber when Jameis threw his 1st pick 6). 2 things on a positive note, our running game looked more efficient (Ronald Jones showed speed and physicality) and our defense looked like its good enough to keep us in games when the offense is struggling. Lets see what happens on TNF vs the Panthers

Jean … TOP was just about the same for both teams. SF: 30:04 to Bucs: 29:56. The Bucs 4 turnovers were the difference in the game … no need to look any further. 49ers scored 3 pts (FG) off of the blocked punt in the 1st qtr (good job defense) plus the 14 pts off of the two pick-six INTs. That’s 17 pts right there that should be charged against the Bucs’ offense.

Winston was running for his life the entire game. Jimmy wasnt..O.j missed blicks, dropped a pass for an int and lost one in the redzone for a fumble. Not one single slant route and no screens or checkdowns called when the pressure was none stop. Leftwhich was horrible and Atians knows.it. Wr have seen Jameis ball out before with a good team around him and there was nothing good about the team around him. I want Arians calling plays. If he isnt calling plays then you can t call.him a qb whisperer which leftwhich is not.

The thing that really strikes me with Jameis, is that no matter who the coach is… what they have to say….no matter the circumstances, when push come to shove, Jameis always reverts to the same QB… everything he learns if superficial. And doesn’t seem to penetrate his brain. If that doesn’t chance immediately, after all this time, there is no chance.

There was a lot to like today. The OL was serviceable for most of the game. RoJo looked the part of a legit NFL RB. While the pass rush was feeble, the D played good enough to win. David looked good, Vita was a force, Suh made plays, the DBs were in the vicinity of WRs (largely). Our rookie K nailed his kicks.
There was also a lot not to like. Bryon’s play-calling flat out stunk for most of the game. There was no reason to go away from the power Kappa/Jensen ISO on the DT run scheme- but as soon as they were on their heels, we went to I Backs and a zone look. I don’t get it. I just don’t. We never attached the middle of the field or took advantage of Kwon’s ejection. The holding penalties on Dot- ughhhh. I could go on and on…but Jaboo takes the cake. The game is too big for him. He has regressed to the point of being a liability on the field. He is our Blake Bortles, on a good day. On a bad day, he’s Dilfer reincarnated. If he poops the bed on Thurs (and we all know he will), Bruce will have some serious soul searching to do.

BR75… I don’t think anyone gets a bad mark for play calling. Would Arians be any closer to blowing a fuse? I doubt it. This settles the question, I believe in the mind of many of us. If Jameis has any games like this, after this many years, he can’t be depended on to lead us to the promised land. When you are in a one game elimination, you can never afford a game like this. Time to start finding a new starting QB.

Certainly made real quarterback decisions in preseason for the past couple of years. Maybe HE is the guy that is coachable and will actually listen to what he is told? Maybe HE is “America’s Quarterback”? Certainly has NEVER looked as bad as this guy has, on a routine basis. America’s Quarterback should pursue MLB. He just doesn’t have the instincts of a NFL guy. I’ll give Jameis and Bruce/ staff until week 4. New coach. New OC calling plays. Oline is the same but can’t get it together. Defense got it together but some went missing. And the old Jameis smells it and goes back to his own. Howard can’t catch, no hump, and oline getting bull rush over. Evans don’t want nothing to do with this mess oh and the punter gets blocked. Way to go experience coaching staff.
I would bench Dotson , Cappa, Carlton Davis and Howard. Move Ronald to the starting line up. AND start the screen pass sooner.

I saw nothing today that makes me think any less or more of Jameis. This is how he has played since day 1. Bad decisions, hangs onto the ball too long, and terrible accuracy both short and deep passes. His receivers have been bailing him out since day one. This experiment has to stop.

Bucs just beat themselves today. Winston was just awful. That might be the worst game I have seen in a long, long time from an offensive standpoint. If you haven’t figured it out by now, it seems rather obvious that you never will and the Bucs will be in the market for another 1st round QB in the draft, which is just a travesty.
