Not A One-Man Team

September 13th, 2019

“We’ve got a defense!”

This is for the wins = good quarterback crowd.

Joe argues with JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman all the time. Ira is of the belief if a quarterback doesn’t win, he’s awful and move on.

Joe believes that is a terribly simplistic mindset. By that standard, Shaun King, who has the best winning percentage of any Bucs quarterback, would be in the Ring of Honor and a guy who had but two wins as a Bucs quarterback was a total stiff.

The latter quarterback Joe mentions happens to be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. That would be Steve Young.

Joe cannot comprehend just how truly inebriated one would have to be to choose King as your quarterback over Young. Yet if one values wins as the ultimate quarterback stat above all us, Joe guesses one would pick King over Young. With a sober mind, if you can imagine!

That’s why Joe always gave Jameis a break. He played on Bucs teams with some of the absolute worst defenses you will ever see and hope to never see again.

Shoot, Aaron Rodgers and Matty Ice would be lucky to win any games with the Bucs defenses of the recent past.

That brings Joe to jet-flyin’, kiss–stealin‘, data-analyzin’, Bucs-film-studyin’, limousine-ridin’ Thomas Bassinger of the Tampa Bay Times. He twittered out last night just why Jameis had such an ugly road loss streak.

You think if the Bucs defense held previous road opponents to 14 points a game the Bucs may have won some of those road games? Of course they would.

But it was too easy for some, too low of hanging fruit to attack, to #BlameJameis for the horrid defense.

One Win and Jamies is good

    Nooo

    Look at the QB play

Still has a hard time with long ball
    Accuracy is not there

He made some throws and the WR made him look better than he is

  2. ITS ABOUT TIME !! Says:

dr jameis jekyll and mr hyde ….. i will savour the win

  3. ATrain Says:

    House if moderation

And someone else using the ATrain name

    Come on Joe

  4. Phil Says:

It’s a great day in Tampa Bay. So this is what victory Monday feels like on Friday. Everything seems so much brighter with a win. Of course the bad part is I’ll be wanting another one next week. But at least I have a positive outlook until the next game. Can’t wait.

  5. TheBucsAnthem Says:

The defense won the game…….not Jameis

    #TIMETOMOVEONFROMJAMEIS

  6. TheBucsAnthem Says:

…….wow…..I actually said the “defense” won the game

Not since the days of Warren Sapp have I said that

  7. Pugs&Bucs Says:

Definitely not a one-man team. It also doesn’t help when he has OJ Howard working against him. A fumble and an interception for OJ last week. Two crippling penalties this week. I tell you. Cook was the pick.

  8. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

Whew !…nice win…a blow out by Buc standards…after the 4th down stop I turned off the TV and my wife said “why did you do that and I said the Game is over”…she said NO..No the Bucs could still screw it up…that is about the only thing she knows about football….any who…many signs of improvement and 10 days of positive vibes

  9. Old School Athlete Says:

I will be the first to admit I didn’t see this win coming. Great to see us play on national prime time tv and not embarrass ourselves. So much improvement from last year’s team. This time, it’s our opponent’s turn to ask the tough questions!
Now a couple extra days off to let the bumps and bruises heal. Go Bucs!

  10. ATLBuc Says:

Actually the defense allowed only 12 points. There was the safety

  11. Ricordo Says:

    Dear Jameis:

    You had it in you!

    Love,
    Bruce

  12. Bucsfanman Says:

    LESS Jameis= More wins!
The % for turnovers increases exponentially when a QB throws more than 35+ attempts.
    Last night’s game: 25 attempts, 208 yds, 1 TD….Most importantly, WIN!

  13. Bill Macy Says:

A lot to like with the defense! Young backs playing agresively. Shack all over Cam. McCaffrey stifled. Perriman has hands of stone. Winston needs to throw away a few when pocket collapses. Defense won the game. Offense did just enough. Godwin is a stud. The Hampster broke some nice runs. Newton isn’t running now. Too many injuries. Easier to defend as a pocket passer. Some silly penalties to clean up but nice to see some D!!!

  14. DB55 Says:

So jw 7-0 when the def holds to 14 points or less?

THE GREATEST QUARTERBACK IN THE HISTORY OF THE BUCCANEERS

  15. DB55 Says:

    Bucsfan

That’s always been the case. Jw has always needed a run game to win. No. Shame in that.

  16. ModHairKen Says:

The difference between winning and losing this game was a stupid play call and a half a yard.

  17. DB55 Says:

We’ve been saying get him a def n a run game. Been saying that.

    100 yards rushing last night.

  18. Todd Says:

BA, “We’ll always be churning the bottom of the roster.”

    Buh-Bye Perriman!

  19. Anonymous Says:

should the haters re evaluate if Jameis is a franchise qb. No. Joe said it, even shaun king got wins, and he had some awful games too. Why? Because he was not a franchise qb. Neither is Lameis. He didn’t lose this for the bucs. And he didn’t win it either. no, don’t pay a guy like this a gazillion. spend it on the rest of the team and draft someone who can be consistent.

  20. Greg Says:

Bad weather between rain and winds made it tough for any passing game. Conservative playcalling and Winston limiting mistakes won the night but obviously won’t beat the Saints. We will need more than 200 yards and one touchdown going forward but finally looks like team is moving in the right direction.

  21. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Joe

Now tell the whole story of that road losing streak and how the offense had 35 offensive turnovers in that road losing streak!!!!!!!!!!!!! 35 TURNOVERS!!!!!!!!!!

So far, in that unwatchable sloppy game that set this passing league back years is that the bucs at best have a inaccurate game managing qb!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 more wins to go!!!!!!!!!!!! enjoy it sheep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. #1bucsfan Says:

Bucsanthem the whole team won the game you idiot it’s a team sport. Defense played the best offense an an ST showed up an played well enough to win. If the offense an ST didn’t score at all then we would of lost by 14. Some people are freaking idiots an you are one of them anthem

  23. Greg Says:

we had a pass rush. Solid defense. Running game is coming alive. Vernon Hargraves is finally able to show his potential. Winston is learning to play using his brain. People should be thrilled with the direction not Critical a day after a victory.

  24. mark2001 Says:

Well Joe…I guess we do have a defense, don’t we?

And guys…one lesson to be learned… COACHING MAKES A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE.

  25. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Trade for Minkah Fitzpatrick

  26. Colonel Angus Says:

Win by any means necessary. There is no ugly victory in the NFL. Last night was a thing of beauty!

  27. Barbosa Says:

Great point Joe. We can’t ignore though leading the league in interceptions. I mean look when you throw more than Blake freaking Bortles, it’s a big problem. IF Winston can finally learn to play within himself and take the safe play, even if it’s a sack or throwing away the ball, then he will probably be franchised for next year.

  28. crazyBucs_CL Says:

one sector we lost last night: the HC match…..
BA is more an advisor then a HC…. he should have been hire as “president of the football”.. he is very slow, looks lost most of the time, made no decision when need it, and rookie mistake at the end of the game……and he knows that, he knows his stamina is gone….. that explain why he got the biggest coaching staff in NFL…. defense, defense, defense….. they won last night…..no one else..

    BA = LovieS 2.0

  29. AwShbucs Says:

We’d have won last week too if Jameis had played with the same kind of reserved, within himself type of game against the 49ers. We saw him be successful and limit his turnovers with that style of play to close out 2018.

If he can now just be consistent and play the same type of game every week, provided our Defense and running game do the same thing, we’ll wrack up some much needed wins around here.

200 yards and a win is better than 400 yards 4 TDs and a loss and monumentally better than 193 yards 1 td 3 ints and a loss… So keep up the solid work Jameis.

  30. BigZ Says:

Shouldn’t even been that close at Perriman held on to that touchdown and we had a kicker, but the Bucs overcame would they usually don’t

  31. Ed Kerber Says:

    Dear Bucs Anthem:

Cook may have been the pick. BUT he got hurt year 1. So he would have been cut by the fans.

  32. DooshLaRue Says:

    Glad we won.
Great job by the Defense and Jaboo managed to not F up.
Congratulations on that and make it 2 in a row next week.

Dotson and OJ need to sit the next game out.

And Softie93……..you lived up to my expectations, you crying over rated punk.

    Go Bucs!

  33. Son of Kobe Faker Says:

“Our inside run defense is stoudt

U can’t move and run in the middle of the field against us

Get them on passing 3rd down and

Our odds of winning goes up”

    Son of Kobe Faker

  34. Ndog Says:

I love the win but we have to cut down the penalities big time, especially the unforced presnap ones. Dotson is getting old quickly and needs to figure it out. OJ what is his deal he just is playing horrible football outside of one great block on the Barber TD run. Also we can’t rely on Brees, Goff, Ryan and others to miss as many throws as Cam.. Happy with the win but there is still quite a bit to clean up. Go Bucs baby!

  35. mark2001 Says:

Poor crazy…been so long he has seen what a real coach looks like on the sidelines, that he no longer recognizes one.

Much of what a real coach accomplishes to prepare for the game happens in the six days, normally, before the next game.

And during the game, he manages the OC, DC, steps in to pump up and chastise the players for plays made/not made, deals with the officiating, and adjusts the game plan.

Very sad that many Tampa fans have no idea what good coaching entails.

  36. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Hey Pittshore, BucBandit, Ben, and Realist (aka fake ass fan), all of you can GFY!

  37. AwShbucs Says:

Funny how Realist has yet to acknowledge just how much better the defense and running game have been under Arians/ Bowles than they were the last 2 seasons under his mancrushs Koetter and Smith.

With largely the same roster from last year as well…

  38. NOSBOS Says:

Greg, the aints have been complaining all off season about a non call. But if you check the stat lines from that game against the rams you’ll come way realizing the rams outplayed them in all facets. Rushing, passing, time off possession and turnovers. The rams were flat out the better team an deserved to advance. The texans had them beat Monday night, silly prevent defense late cost them that game. The aints will sorely miss Igram because with him went their physicalityon offense. Brees threw 43 times. That ain’t winning football late in the year for a QB who statistically fell off after week 4 last season. Tune in Sunday, the rams about to beat them again. With our current D, and limiting JWs pass attempts in favor of more running the ball. I ain’t slightly concerned with the aints.

  39. '79 Defense Says:

Great illustration of an excellent point, Joe. (King and Young)

  40. Bucsfanman Says:

Ndog- Agreed on the penalties. We darn near snatched defeat from a victory. It should have been a LOT cleaner game than that.

  41. The Buc Realist Says:

    @AwShbucs

They are healthier, that is for sure!!!! They are stouter on the line in the middle, that is for sure!!!! If she-mc was still on the roster, the Bucs lose last night, that is for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take away 2-3 more D-lineman, another LB and 3 more secondary and then face Real offenses and not the two damaged QB’s the Bucs just faced!!!!!!!!!!!

and if you compare last night’s game with the last Carolina game from last year. It is a more convincing win!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now sit down at the kids table, while the adults talk “real” football!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  42. Bird Says:

    Dude

    Jameis played his game Awesome
    No turnovers = wins
    Especially a tight game

    They do matter
    Defense is legit

  43. Defense Rules Says:

@Joe … “You think if the Bucs defense held previous road opponents to 14 points a game the Bucs may have won some of those road games? Of course they would.”

@Realist … “Now tell the whole story of that road losing streak and how the offense had 35 offensive turnovers in that road losing streak!!!!!!!!!!!!! 35 TURNOVERS!!!!!!!!!!”

And therein lies the problem. Far too often the Bucs’ offense has started SLOW or worse, turned the ball over & put the Bucs’ defense in lousy field position. Then Joe and others pee & moan because the defense gives up points. And oh ya, ridicule them mercilessly when they’re pooped out by the 4th quarter. Lousy coaching, no depth, too much time on the field, too many injuries = a crappy defense. We’re FINALLY starting to build some depth, our coaching has improved light-years, offense didn’t turn the ball over AND won the TOP (34 to 26 mins), and our injuries are ‘reasonable’ at this point. Result? A defense that allowed 17 points in the 1st game & 12 points in the 2nd game. And oh ya, a win. Imagine that.

  44. Pickgrin Says:

Steve Young won 3 games as QB for the Bucs. 3-16…

Man those Leeman Bennett teams were bad. The Bucs ’86 defense was one of the worst Defenses in NFL history….

  45. TexBuc Says:

Need set the edge, stop the run, or just sack the QB use the “SHAQ WOW” Barrett. Works in wet or dry fields get yours now for only $4 million or 4 easy payments of $1 million every 2 months.

Call now operators are on standby taking orders for a limited time only.

  46. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Joe

So is Joe now going to “give a break” to McCown????????????? in 2014, the road losing steak had the bucs defense giving up 31.5 pts per game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  47. LordCorn Says:

I’d rather take my chances with knowing the offense will have 2-3 turnovers than knowing we will be giving up 30+ points per f*ckong game. NFL teams average 1-2 turnovers a week regardless.. an extra turnover shouldn’t auto = giving up over 30 points Jesus

  48. DBS Says:

Credit to Jameis for doing what he could the oline was garbage. Dotson needs to go. If BA is going to hold players accountable it’s time for O J. and Dotson to pay along wiwith Parriman.

  49. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Defense that is patently false! In 2018 the Bucs time
Of possession was 31:54 vs 28:04 for opponents. This proves the nonsense and false narratives you guys provide. I knew it was wrong because the Bucs had plenty of long sustained drives last year even if they didn’t always result in touchdowns. It took me 10 seconds to find the numbers. Google is your friend. Without it you come off as dumb!

  50. AwShbucs Says:

What’s your excuse for 2017 Realist? Oh btw they just lost their starting MLB last night and still one the game. And we didnt need to score 48 points to win either. We weren’t giving up free first downs in third and long situations due to playing the same quarters zone concept 10 yards off the receivers giving them free releases either?

Mike Smith was as trash as they come, the worst coordinator in the league for 2017 and 2018, and still your boy Koetter had to be forced to fire him. He shat himself every game and would have had the worst defense in nfl history if he hadn’t be yoked by the Glazers.

Bowles is putting him to shame. Like you do to yourself on a daily basis.

  51. T REX Says:

I thought he had a great bounce back game. Now, I’m looking for a string of these games.

  52. The Buc Realist Says:

    @awShbucs

Coach Smitty – 2016-2017 23.5 pts per game
    toilet bowles – 22.5 pts per game ( against 2 damaged QB’s)

We all know of the massive injuries in 2018, and that coach smitty was forced to run the scheme to keep She-mc happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is that what you call putting to shame???????? The coaches should have been fired, just like a said during the preseason before!!!!! But the biggest problem is licht weight and the poorly constructed roster!!!!!!!!!!! And if you don’t see that, you will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its 9:20am!!!!!!!!! That means I just told you what time it is TWICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  53. ben Says:

i am NOT a fan of Winston but ,, no turnovers or fumbles so good game for bucs qb so i want to give him a pat on back .

  54. Pittsshore Says:

That is exactly what we need. A game manager at quarterback. Thank God Luke Kuechly drop that sure interception

  55. AwShbucs Says:

Realist. You just outed yourself as a troll dude.

Anyone who’s actually watching the games or even paying attention, knows that through2 games the defense is giving up 14.5 points a game.

    Jameis’ 2 pick 6’s in game one, so that’s 14 points. 31-14 = 17

    Barbers safety in game 2, in case you didnt know that’s worth 2 points. 14 – 2 = 12

17 + 12 = 29 and 29 ÷ 2 = 14.5 and they aren’t giving up a ton of yards either or allowing Qb’s to complete 70% of their passes.. We just held Cmac to 37 rushing yards after the guy generated 200 yards of offense in week 1.

Face it Realist. Your guy Smitty was a fraud. And Todd Bowles is the real deal.

  56. Dapostman Says:

The Buc Realist has to be Mike Smith’s illegitimate kid. Nothing else explains his blind loyalty to Mike Smith. Maybe Mike Smith and Dirk Koetter are his special parents?

  57. Cgmaster27 Says:

Lind of pathetic that our resident tells still complain after a win. Although I dont see pittshore, someone check the closest bridge and make sure hes ok. Bucsanthem ,just choose a new team, your regurgitated nonsense impresses noone. Great win last night!

  58. 813bucboi Says:

    Realist

It’s about time you and smitty finished washing Bruce’s golf cart!!!!!!!!

Now pull your skirt down and straighten up your kangol!!!!!!!

    GO BUCS

  59. 813bucboi Says:

    Realist

You singing a different tune this beautiful victory morning!

    GO BUCS

  60. tnew Says:

No one was a bigger Mike Smith fan than me. I bought his books, gave away the “no complaining” arm bands to friends, family and employees.

Arguing that he and Koetter weren’t part of the problem is futile and it shows blind allegiance regardless of performance (one of Mike Smiths flaws)

This team has the chance to improve week to week. There were flaws in the defense, Carlton Davis, I’m talking to you. All of the dropped INTs. Secondary must continue to play better, but I can’t imagine a Bucs team going to Charlotte on a Thursday after a loss and winning.

Realist is just one of the “fans” who need the Bucs to lose so that they can feel better. Buckle up. I have a feeling this will be a long season for you and the crowd that hopes Winston leads the league in Ints this season.

  61. Adam Lakers Carolla Says:

Wow….and these are comments after a win! Thought JW had a good game sans the dropped pick and the high back shoulder throw to ME on their last drive. Anyone mention the perfect TD throws that were dropped to ME on the post corner and seam to Perriman? Still leaving too many points on the field with mistakes missed kicks and penalties. Long season…lots of time to improve.

  62. FanO’Bucs Says:

    Great perspective, Joe.

Many/most here enjoy the discussion and learn along the way.

Don’t mind the lifeless and dumb trolls

    GO BUCS!!

  63. RustyRhinos Says:

Yeah he looked like a stiff for us. So can we give up on the Steve Young was a great Buc debate. Two seasons 3217 yards 11TD 21INT QB ratings of 65.5 & 56.9 As I remember he stunk in Tampa. It was not until he sat learning behind Montana and from Bill Walsh for three years and waited his turn in leading the San Francisco offense. Before he became a great QB, never in Tampa, only in San Francisco.

Winston had a good game, he also had a few lucky chances on a few passes that went our way. Running game looked real good. Who was that running the ball? Was it “insert Joe’s” flavor of the month RB we should have brought in. Oh no that’s right it was the guy we have heard is not that good of a RB. Yeah I hear ya, every now and then a blind squirrel finds a acorn, just like a good game for the “Franchise” every now and then right?
    Great Division WIN!
The SHOW ME EVENT looked to be a success in Charlotte, Defense shuting down the run game and hitting Cam as often as they could. Check. Running game working well. Check Quality QB play, Check, solid Oline play, Check. Good Special teams play, Check. I must say I was shown in this game we can win in our Division, we can beat down our opponent, and our Defense is learning every game. Vita Vea looks like a bull in a china shop most plays. But that was yesterday’s game, we have a long week off and the next SHOW ME EVENT will happen. We are back at glass half full, huzzah!
Keep SHOWING ME, Don’t tell me, keep SHOWING ME!

    GO!! BUCS!!!

  64. unbelievable Says:

Jamies played very good. His receivers and o-lineman still hung him out to dry a few times. I mean the sequence of plays that led to that safety was just awful.

Nails that long pass on first down play action but Godwin couldn’t get his left foot down. Then a penalty on another pass play when they were expecting run. Finally you figure you have to run, the defense knew, and got a safety. Ugh it was so Bucs.

Fortunately the defense looks improved and was able to hold on.

But let’s not pretend that Cam didn’t also have a terrible game. I mean he was missing some wide open guys. But hey a win is a win and I”ll take it. End of that game was sloppy AF though.

  65. Bucsdelight Says:

“This is for the wins = good quarterback crowd.”

I won’t read the article then, I’ll just scroll down here and let you know I didn’t read it. You’re welcome.

  66. Defense Rules Says:

TDTB … Before you call someone else a dumbass, you might want to check your own stats. Bucs TOP for 2018 was 30:12 and for 2019 thus far it’s 31:54. So instead of spending 10 secs looking up stats like that, you might want to consider splurging and investing 20 secs next time.

  67. #1bucsfan Says:

Don’t bother with these commenters like REALIST #dumbasspeople he’s still butthurt about mike Smith an he has no clue what kind of trash that comes out that dumpster he calls a mouth

  68. July Joe Says:

TEAM wins mean NOTHING in evaluating QBs. Jameis has been ELITE in various metrics for the past 2 years … but there was no run game and no defense.

Last night he was a “game manager” but the run game was “decent” and the defense was magnificent … and the TEAM won.

    This isn’t rocket science.

As for JW himself … he played better last night than Mr. $134million JARED GOFF played against the Panthers in Week 1 … and Goff got MORE HELP from his run game … way more help!

Most “fans” are dumb … that’s just a fact.

  69. Adam Lakers Carolla Says:

    Rusty

    ignorant take on Young

Young sucked because the organization sucked from Hugh C. on down to the water boy. Bronko Nagurski would’ve sucked for the Bucs during those years.

  70. tnew Says:

And it shouldn’t be a one man team, unlike the old philosophy when the HC publicly states “you are the only player that can lose the game for us” (Dirk to Winston on Hard Knocks) That philosophy was poison to the team and the player.

  71. BucsBandit Says:

@TouchdownTampaBay – quit yer cryin’ just because people criticize Winston for the bad QB and inconsistent player that he is.

I love how the Bucs pull out a win over a 1-yard bad play call that could have EASILY been a Bucs loss and now suddenly Winston is “the guy” for the future of the franchise and worth giving $30M+/year for many years.

    PUHLEASE.

Winston is going to have to play a lot better and more consistent if he’s going to be the long-term QB for the team.

Credit to this amazing young DEFENSE for the victory. Bowles has been doing an amazing job.

Winston did not have a good game against Carolina despite the “W” as anyone that watched the game objectively saw that dropped INT by Kuechly, the high and low inaccurate passes, the once-again-for-the-millionth-time holding the ball too long which led to some big sacks and major lost yardage.

@July Joe – the only category Jameis has been ELITE in is TURNOVERS. Nothing costs a team more than turnovers. They absolutely crush you in the NFL. To have lead the league in turnovers during his ENTIRE CAREER is terrible. Most INTs and tied for most fumbles lost. That’s an INSANELY bad statistic.

  72. Dapostman Says:

I believe Bucsbandit finger bangs himself every time Winston throws an interception so no orgasm last night has left him angry and frustrated. Poor guy.

  73. BucsBandit Says:

@Dapostman, nice vulgar comments on a family content site. Your parents must be very proud of the son they raised.

As for your comment, if that were the case, I wouldn’t actually be frustrated that he didn’t throw an INT last night, after all, the one right in Kuechly’s hands that he dropped was close enough. BUT…

Winston has *61* other INTs he’s thrown to keep anyone happy for multiple lifetimes.

  74. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Defense my numbers are from NFL.com. Even with the stats you found as far as I know there are only 60 minutes in a game though either way correct?

  75. Dapostman Says:

    @Bucsbandit,

If you can’t handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen or the b___ hous_ in your case. I’m sure you can read between the lines.

  76. WestChap Says:

Tip of the hat to JW. He’s not ready for the Pro Bowl just yet but this game was sooo much better than week 1. No need for nit-picking how it could have been better… just Congrats!

  77. WestChap Says:

I have seen Cam’s post-game outfit a few times now and was left dumbfounded each time. I know most pro athletes find a way to wear some of their extra cash as a “look”… and, as an aside, I still revisit Fitz in DeSean’s outfit last year for laughs… but what in H E double L is going on with that outfit? Just odd to the point of asking “Is he ok? Plea for help?” Yikes!

  78. July Joe Says:

    @BucsBandit,

    You’re ignorant, period.

JW has been ELITE in a bunch of metrics over the last 2 years but ignorant fans don’t do their research so they don’t know.

As for the TO stat … it’s hilarious. JW has NEVER led the league in INTs in a single season … MANY HOF QBs have.

Peyton Manning threw ONE HUNDRED INTEREPTIONS in his first 5 years … no one cares.

Brett Favre turned the ball over more than any QB in history … he’s in the Hall of Fame.

Jameis, from 21-24 years of age, in a pass-first and VERITCAL passing attack had a lot of turnovers … wow … how shocking.

    IDIOTS.

  79. Alanbucsfan Says:

If Jameis plays winning football like he did last night, ( no turnovers and good decisions) the rest of team will follow his lead and win.

The defense is better , especially stopping the run. kicker needs to get rookie misses worked out, and offense needs time to gel with new system- running game success has been key.

Start the winning culture and don’t regress, Jameis, or goodbye. You are not bigger than the team.

Any doubt as to who is better player? Suh or McCoy?

Steve Young won 3 games as QB for the Bucs. 3-16…

Man those Leeman Bennett teams were bad. The Bucs ’86 defense was one of the worst Defenses in NFL history….

Bucs set NFL records for losing that still hold up today. Believe me, I was one of those fans who suffered through them.

    July,

How do you define “elite”? Is it top 3 in the league, 5, 10 or are you comparing historical data?

If your data is so convincing , and I am not suggesting it is or isn’t, and it’s so clear for you to see then instead of calling others idiots ( which is something ego driven not knowledge based) post the data that has you so sure of your argument.

If there’s still someone who remains unconvinced. Then the intelligent follow up is to examine YOUR presentation of the facts. Which brings me back to a potential problem in your argument. That is how are you defining elite. Or maybe it’s some thing entirely different.

Last, I’ll leave you with a piece of wisdom. If you want to determine if the person your conversing with is highly intelligent

    July,

    Continue-

average or below, on the subject being discussed, the person who is superior in knowledge is one that avoids ego driven retorts or insults. A casual inventory of the individual posters to JBF, using just this method, will quickly sort the overall group into their various categories.

If your subject knowledge is as impressive as you claim, avoiding calling anyone who disagrees with you an idiot should be easy. Convince them with a more persuasive argument. And given them the benefit of respect until they have demonstrated something different.

    D1,

Jameis is #1 in the entire NFL in multiple metrics and top 3 in a BUNCH of metrics over the past 2 years.

    Just read the book:

    JAMEIS WINSTON DERANGEMENT SYNDROME

It’s all there in black and white … no one has an excuse to be ignorant now that such a book is out there.
