Bucs Blitz

September 14th, 2019

Bringing the heat.

This is a pretty interesting stat.

It seems Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles smelled blood in the water.

There is something wrong with Cam Newton. No, and it’s not his second-rate Batman-villain fashion sense where he turns into what folks dropping shrooms must see when they stare at a cockatoo.

Newton can no longer run. And his arm looks like it is hurting. He’s not the same quarterback that won an MVP. And it appears that in the lead-up to the Bucs-Stinking Panthers game, Bowles noticed this on film and decided to come at Newton with the house on Thursday.

Just check out the stats Jenna Laine of ESPN dug up.

That is impressive and unlike the impotent blitzes disgraced former Bucs defensive coordinator Mike Smith used to dial up, Bowles got pressure on Newton, highlighted by Shaq Barrett’s three sacks. The Bucs had six quarterback hits on Newton.

If Bowles decided to throw everything at Newton because he cannot run any longer, take a gander at what quarterback the Bucs face next a week from Sunday. That would be aging star Eli Manning.

Currently, Manning is so immobile, he has to wipe the pigeon sh!t off his shoulders.

Let’s hope the Giants don’t try to get wise and bench Manning for David Jones. Joe thinks the world of Manning, but the dude is done.

And that was Bowles defense who blitzed the hell out him back on Oct. 6, 2013

  2. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

Eli is a smarter QB and KNOWS when and where to throw the football…

  3. Go Bucs 72 Says:

We should have multiple sacks on over the hill Eli. I will always love the dude for owning the Patriotwats in two different Super Bowls though.

  4. Defense Rules Says:

@Joe … “Joe thinks the world of Manning, but the dude is done.” Oh Joe, you’re such a master of disguise. Isn’t that something like saying “My first wife was awesome, until I divorced her. Then she turned into a bitch.” Praise … followed by ‘Thump, thump’. This is football, not life. –Joe

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The reason why we can blitz effectively is the speed from our back 8……that plus the aggressive play of our CBs and Safeties……..

I expect extreme pressure on Manning….but first we have to shut down Barkley & I expect we will.

  6. #1bucsfan Says:

Isn’t Eli a little more accurate than cam? Cam missed a lot of throws on wide open receivers. If he connected on those throws I think we have a diff outcome of the game. Hopefully we can tighten up our coverage. Like what I’m seeing out of Whitehead

    “THE REINCARNATION OF MIKE SMITH

    HE’S BACK!

Klueless downfall of holding onto Mike Smith is the same dire downfall of BA and our overgrown Gary Coleman Byron Leftwich

Like all blowhards, stubbornness will be the Achilles heel of BA decision of keeping Leftfoot as playcaller and OC

    * My Dad and I will give indepth commentary later today what Leftfoot is doing wrong and how it is affecting our potential success this”

  8. Blogtalkfootball.com Says:

Eli is another QB that becomes a turnover machine if you hit him early and often.

  9. Alanbucsfan Says:

If they can stop McCaffrey, they can stop Barkley.
    Just don’t beat yourselves, Jameis.

  10. AwShbucs Says:

Kobe, havent you already proved you dont know anything? Your grand prediction for Ronald Jones took all of one game to be dispelled.

  11. casual observer Says:

Love Bowles’ blitzing schemes and frequency. Keep it up.

  12. Rick Says:

I’m looking forward to the battle on the trenches. Hernandez( LG) for the giants is a MAULER. Big V better be on his game.

  13. bucnole Says:

Exactly – Cam missed a lot of throws that would have buried us in that game. I saw WAY too many open WR and Olsen just ate up the middle. Look this game came down to the last few inches (and we lose). Im not sold yet – It was a great to see the team make plays when it had to – however there were some missed opportunities that could have gone either way. Not trying to be a downer just trying to be realistic about what I saw. GO BUCS!

  14. Rayjay1122 Says:

I can’t give any credibility to people who refer to themselves in the 3rd person Kobe Faker.

  15. Jmarkbuc Says:

    bucnole..

You’re Dead on. We’ve got miles and miles to go. VhIII and Carlton Davis against real WRs and QB..?

Fortunately GMen have about 0 WRs at the moment, so we get another week to get better

    Joe—

“Batman-villain fashion sense where he turns into what folks dropping shrooms must see when they stare at a cockatoo.”

By far…BY FAR…THE best sentence ever formulated within this site I any other…ever!

  17. Todd Says:

    “or” any other

  18. @Hands2theface Says:

Joe – brilliant writing. “There is something wrong with Cam Newton. No, and it’s not his second-rate Batman-villain fashion sensewhere he turns into what folks dropping shrooms must see when they stare at a cockatoo.”

Then the Manning pigeon sentence… Good stuff

  19. 813bucboi Says:

    kobe

BL doesnt abandon the run and it only took him 1 game to realize winston plays his best ball when he has under 28 pass attps…..

BL called a great game vs the panthers….stuck with the run and put winston in position to be successful…..

    stop hatin!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  20. Todd Says:

“Currently, Manning is so immobile, he has to wipe the pigeon sh!t off his shoulders.”

Second best. YOU are on a role. You should be writing late night comedy!

  21. R.O. Says:

Who’s David Jones? I honestly would like the Giants to put “him” in.

  22. adam from ny Says:

well eli runs worse than cam in tights …

everyone knows there is a statue in the pocket for new york…

bring the house and fire those gnarly cannons!

  23. TampaTown Says:

What Todd said. Awesome one-liners Joe. You’re really upping your snark game

  24. Denjoe Says:

No, and it’s not his second-rate Batman-villain fashion sense where he turns into what folks dropping shrooms must see when they stare at a cockatoo.

    Awesome line LMAO

  25. TampaTown Says:

I think we have a very good chance of seeing David Jones. Be careful what you wish for. I really want to win that Giants game, those fans are so smug and full of themselves and there’s gonna be a million of them here. I’m hosting four myself. Ugh.

  26. Buccfan37 Says:

The comedic lines were funny and enjoyable as on the spot mind picture images.

  27. Eric Says:

Good thing we got the good pressure. Cam had some wide open receivers but was hit as he threw. On one it would have been the game winner in the left corner near the end.

NFL football comes down to just a few plays. We could easily be 0-2, or 2-0.

Keep staying in the mix and we can win our share.

  28. BigMacAttack Says:

Todd Bowles is a player’s Coacvh. Guys love him. His defense didn’t just neuter Cam but they stuffed McCaffrey in a shoe box. The next challenge ahead is The Saquan Beast. They can build off last week and do even better next week. I’m happier about this defense than the win or anything else.

  29. RTG Bucs Says:

“No, and it’s not his second-rate Batman-villain fashion sense where he turns into what folks dropping shrooms must see when they stare at a cockatoo.“
That is the best line I have read since I have been coming to this site! Spot on.

  30. Joe in Michigan Says:

Eli or a rookie QB. Either is good for the Bucs, if our D plays as well as they did against the Panthers.

  31. SOEbuc Says:

Never been one of the so many Licht haters. He’s a great scout and can get a good player in any round and UDFA. “Build through the draft.” Maybe he was tanking through his years because he had this BA/Bowles thing into place. Two more years with this very young secondary and Todd Bowles and we could be elite.

A win and shut down Saquon Barkley to 39 rushing yards in week three, this defense is dominating. I would have to put it on the composure of Jameis throughout the rest of the year.

  32. unbelievable Says:

Priority #1 needs to be stopping Saquon, just like it was with CMC.

Hold those guys in check, everything else will fall into place.

Let’s not forget there were receivers running wide open on Thurs, Cam just couldn’t hit them. Now many times that was due to pressure, but he was also straight up missing guys.

As old as Eli is, I think he’s still more accurate than Cam.

  33. Mike Johnson Says:

Manning being immobile has nothing to do with us winning against these Giants. Absolutely Nothing! They got a guy named Barkley who is Barry Sanderish. We can not afford to assume anything. we are still the Bucs. Meaning anything can or will happen. We gotta play..Lights out and hard to win. During our dismal history we have been beat by 2nd and 3rd string players. So none of this means anything. Just play Mad Bucs and Bring it.

  34. Smashsquatch Says:

Love what I see from the Bucs D but tempering my enthusiasm a bit as Cam was horrid Thursday night. There were plenty of open receivers running crossing routes and open downfield that could’ve gashed the Bucs. Good NFL QBs find those open receivers and shut the blitz down quickly. Nonetheless this was a mammoth W for the Bucs and a hell of a building block. If the D keeps improving and Jameis can find a way to be consistent this team could be a factor in the NFC South.

  35. Joe in Michigan Says:

For the Lovie Smith lovers…Eastern Michigan just beat Illinois, 34-31. Lovie’s defense gave up 313 yards passing, 164 rushing (if I added it up correctly).

  36. SOEbuc Says:

True Cam is older and looks to be injured and dresses like an old african american house maid from the fourtees. He is by far not the best QB we play this year but shutting down McCaffrey for 39 rushing yards??? This run-d is alrighted shown itself.

GONNA HOLD SAQUON TO 29 YARDS!!!#GO BUCS!!!!

  37. WestChap Says:

Seriously Joe, wasn’t that Cam outfit a cry for help? I din’t think you could make a blue outfit look like Joker come to life but that ensemble was certifiable.

  38. WestChap Says:

Just saw the prior post… an entire fashion critique of Cam. Good stuff.

  39. Louis Says:

Babushka Camille Newton, all he is missing is a Yorkie with a pink collar. He quit on his team in the Superbowl, and showed he just has no heart.

  40. GhostofSchiano Says:

    I. B. I. B.

    I BELIEVE IN BOWLES
