Players Staying Home
August 8th, 2019A few players Joe was keen on seeing play Friday in Pittsburgh won’t be making the trip to the Steel City.
Arians, in his post-practice remarks yesterday, announced several players who won’t make the trip due to a variety of injuries.
The players Arians ruled out include:
Jamel Dean, Vita Vea, Jack Cichy, Lavonte David, D’Cota Dixon, Anthony Nelson, Scotty Miller, K.J. Brent, Scott Orndoff, Mike Liedtke, Nick Fitzgerald and Justin Evans.
The sad thing is that most of these guys are young and Arians said his goal in the first preseason game is to give young guys a shot.
“Young players – they’re going to play the majority of the game, 80 percent of it,” Arians said “One or two of them are either going to get exposed or have good exposure, and that’s really what this is all about.
“That’s what we talked to them about it. What they’re putting on tape is not just for us – 31 other teams are going to look at it. So you want to put the best thing you have on tape to be evaluated.”
Well, as the old saying goes, one door shuts, another door opens.
All of these guys staying back just means more snaps for someone else.

Jamel Dean, Vita Vea, Jack Cichy, Lavonte David, D’Cota Dixon, Anthony Nelson, Scotty Miller, K.J. Brent, Scott Orndoff, Mike Liedtke, Nick Fitzgerald and Justin Evans <<< I wonder how many more are going to pile up before Friday? The Tampa Bay Disabledneers!

I can hardly wait until Friday, to see our team play a tough team, in their house. The Steelers are never an easy out.
Jason Licht has been far from perfect, but he went and got Bruce Arians for us.
IMHO, it has been a very very long time, since we had a REAL Coach.

I love the no nonsense. If injured, it takes so long now to get back into playing shape I fear for several players on this list and JPP. I think with Vea going down we are going to cut JPP and sign a vet.
Was really looking forward to the rookies Dean, Miller and Nelson.
In China so have to use a VPN to get the games. Go BUCS!!!!

King buc,
There’s was at one time a rather surprising number of buc fans in china.
Where are you going to go to watch the games?

A coach has to have players…healthy players. The Bucs don’t have that. I wonder how many will come home so banged up they’ll be out for weeks. Seems like a soft group not anywhere near able to compete.

Guys, it’s football. You can’t have it both ways. Under Koetter, practice was soft and we saw the product. Now, they ramp up practice and we lament having tougher sessions?!
EVERY team in the NFL gets injuries. It’s only the BAD teams that use it as an excuse.
Next man up!

Man that sucks I really want to see Miller and Nelson have a chance to get a few plays in with the ones and twos. Those guys both could be needed in yhe regular season need to see if they are good under the lights

Somehow Scotty Miller will be stashed on IR and make his NFL debut in 2020 and a year of weight and diet training

Liedtke was waived yesterday.

There is no benefit to risking further injury with these players at this point……it is unfortunate for them because it could impact their roster status later…..but, this list is mostly players that should make the team.

Can’t wait to see who starts on opening day!

I was watching Miked Up on the Bucs sight, and one of the coaches stopped a couple players from getting water.
This immediately made me wonder if these coaches are putting players health at risk in regard to heat stroke.
That’s not something to mess with. Hydration is important in Florida sports, and these coaches may not understand that. Players become more prone to injury. Even death from heat stroke.
Thankfully, Tampa has never lost a player that way…but other teams have come close, and they were northern teams. More risk here.

rhenry Says
“Liedtke was waived yesterday.”
That is a surprise!

Bonzai, shoulder injury. Out for the year. Shame. I had high hopes for him.
August 8th, 2019 at 9:39 am
Yeah, he got an injury settlement. The Bucs also waived Testaverde and resigned Stevie T’ and John Battle, a safety. Makes me wonder about the health of safety Evans.

Who told you Liedtke was waived, O’henry? That is injured reserve and not waiving Liedtke. He is way too valuable to waive. Perhaps the Bucs don’t want to put what he can do on film in the Preseason for other teams to see or take a chance on his getting him injured before the regular season, because Arians has never said he was injured in any practice. He is their Swiss Army Knife who can play any OL position besides Center. They will need him if they have to hold D. Smith accountable during the season and bench him for awhile. He won’t be scared they could put in Boozer! LOL.

Damnit now I’m hungry because of Kobe.
GO BUCS

I was confused at TC this week seeing a small, shifty receiver making almost every catch. Kept thinking what a great pick that Scotty Miller was… until I realized it was #83 Spencer Schnell. Write it down… he’s going to make a team as he just doesn’t drop a thing and he seems to always have separation even though he’s supposedly too slow. So many quality WRs in camp. He and Miller aren’t competing as Schnell is no deep threat but reminded me a lot of Humphries across the middle. Didn’t think BA liked smaller slot WRs but Leftwich gave him a few fist bumps so he’s being noticed.

Buccaneer Bonzai come on dude that a joe size reach there. You really think a 2.5 billion dollar company is going to risk having an employee die due to lack of water. They know what’s going on. If you ever played football you would know that exact feeling. Yes I just finished that drill time for water and then your coach barks where you going back in formation run it three more times. Then comes the water break 2 minutes later. It is done to cause chaos break you of your norm. You were use to getting water then but now you have to run it three more times. These are professional athletes they know when they need water. Tell your liberal talk group that it is ok to use rat poison in Cali to kill rats that will eventually will kill thousands of people versus saving a couple wild animals. And don’t forget to bring your time out card to work tomorrow. If it get to stressful just hand that to your boss and tell him you need 15 minutes to regroup. And get some water. Dont want you having to over exert yourself in order to make a living. When is the last time you have seen a football training camp or any kind of practice video over 30 seconds long where you don’t see a Gatorade bottle being shoved down every players throat. But thank god the bucs have beat the odds this year so far and haven’t had a significant heat stroke. These poor players and there millionaire bank accounts having to work outside in Florida for a whole 3 weeks. I wonder how a $400 a week Florida roofer feels all day every day on a 140 degree roof. Coddled players makes for a soft team. A soft man can’t work outside. A hardened man will work all day in the sun with a half a gallon of water with no cooler to keep it cold. And still get the job done. Grow a pair this is football and there making more a week than half of America does in a year. And your talking about water. Like we’re really talking about water not the Steelers on Friday but about water. Talking about water. Really about water. Sorry Bonzai most of this was joking. Just was bored taking a deuce and went overboard. Plus on beer number three of this beer my wife bought me that is 11%.
