JPP Status Updated

August 30th, 2019

Roster move.

For those thinking Bucs sackmeister Jason Pierre-Paul would be ready in September to snap on a chinstrap since he appeared on the Bucs’ sideline last week without his neck brace, think again.

Per NFL uber insider Adam Schefter, JPP won’t play for the Bucs until at least the end of October after the Bucs updated his roster status today.

Given those requirements, JPP won’t be eligible to play until the Bucs travel to Tennessee Oct. 27. Again, depending on how JPP recovers in his rehab from his broken neck.

JPP injured his neck just days after the draft when the rig he was driving down I-95 in South Florida hydroplaned and he lost control. Until last week, JPP was wearing a neck brace.

never fear there is plenty of time for this knucklehead to do something else stupid to ensure the season is a complete loss… dumbest player in nfl history period.

  2. Mike Johnson Says:

Bucs shoulda dumped JPP like a bad habit..quick! I betcha ‘Easy Money Sweezy” is his mentor. I betcha Bellacheat would have moved on. But then again, we are..The Bucs.

  3. AKickInTheBucNuts Says:

Can’t he snap on a chinstrap over the neck brace?

Seriously, if he plays at all this year, it would be a miracle.

  4. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

I like JPP and it was a good trade last year, but the Bucs need cap space and the dude broke his neck. They should have bit the bullet and let him go.

  5. Pittsshore Says:

I thought JW was the “Uber insidHer”.

  6. Wesley Says:

Can’t afford for him to miss 2 games let alone a minimum of six. Should have released him and used that money elsewhere, like o-line help or another pass rusher. But hey that’s Licht for ya.

  7. DBS Says:

Who was it that. said it was smoke and he would be ready week one?

  8. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

JPP is now Al B. Tross. Licht won’t cut him…zero pressure to perform as 10 year GM and traded for him only a year ago.

  9. 813bucboi Says:

id cut him….even when he comes back theres no guarantee he’ll be a sackmaster….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  10. BridleOaks Buc Says:

Dude’s on track and he’s gonna be fine. He has 8 weeks of rehab, and as long as they stick to protocol, he could be ready end of Oct/first of Nov…again, I just hope we’re in a position for him to make an impact…

Who was it that. said it was smoke and he would be ready week one?

I never predicted week 1 but I was one of those guys that kept saying sooner rather than later. I freely admit that I am wrong!

  12. Bucsfan1988 Says:

This is what I figured might happen. NFI for first 6 games. Then Bucs have BYE-WEEK after those games. Next game on 10/27 at Tennessee Titans.

JPP will be ready to roll for that game!!

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Is there anyone really surprised by this?……..I’m in the camp that says we should cut him or negotiate an out…..and resign him next year if he’s inclined….or simply move on.
It is a huge gamble to assume he will be able to play at the same level as before.

  14. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

With all the weaknesses on this team, yet another dumb$ss move by Licht My Balls. He should have been released outright.

  15. Pit of Misery Says:

With his move to NFI, can we put that game salary back into our Cap Space?

  16. kstoges Says:

the disrespect for jpp and licht for making the move guys jpp just had more sacks last year then anyone in so long for the Bucs if we’re in position for him to make an impact when he comes back then he will make an impact

  17. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Those six weeks (or longer) will not count against the cap. So as of now, his cap money is freed up.

If he eventually returns this season, the cap hit will be minus the time not played.

  18. Chris K Says:

Tmaxipad, dumbest commenter in commenting history…

  19. Pittsshore Says:

Cut him. This will give us salary space to sign another kicker.

  21. DBS Says:

    @Geno711
Credit to you. But it was not you. It was someone who knows more than anyone here or on the team believe me. And they will tell you so.

  22. unbelievable Says:

This can’t possibly be surprising to anyone. End of October would be absolute best case scenario.

More likely, he’ll come back in December if the Bucs have a decent record, or else not at all.

In other news, t max is still an idiot. Another shocker, I know.

  23. Buc4evr Says:

Yeah 6 weeks, just in time to get his Ferrari back from the body shop…. can’t wait to see what other stupid things he can do with it.

  24. MadMax Says:

im on the fence on whether we shouldve released him. Great points above. He’s not counting against the cap and he def is our first double digit sacker in a while. According to how fast it heals and if he can come back 100%, then im all in on keeping him….if anything for the Joe who keeps whining about drafting D. White instead of an edge rusher.

Then again, his age and experience in a 3-4 perplexes me. I dont know. As much as the O line needs help, im in that camp too.

Like I stated a month ago, the injury is bogus. He’ll play week 1.

Joe, please check your sources 😁

  26. firethecannons Says:

Sounds like Bucs will need the JPP boost, Bucs can always trade him if we are at the bottom of the barrel up til 10/29/19. So much better than just the last 4 games.

  27. WyomingDude Says:

Just the first chess move, in a long set of moves directed by the Glazer’s counsel to get out of every penny of JPP’ s $14.7 million dollar salary. The $7.5 million injury guarantee won’t be paid for injuries away from football, and certainly not while on the NFI list.

Glazer’s counsel as the puppeteer. Mark it down.

  28. tnew Says:

I will be pleasantly surprised if he offers anything for the Bucs this season. Anything will be a bonus.

  29. Hodad Says:

Does he get paid, and count against the cap during that time?

  30. hamilton Says:

why would you cut the best player on the team, jpp is hurt, stop worrying about how much money he makes.

“Does he get paid, and count against the cap during that time?”

He gets paid but it does not count against the cap. Being a non football injury, there may be a way to not pay him. Not sure. Either way does not hurt the cap.

And that f he returns during the season it is pro-rated.

  32. George Rauh Says:

Those six weeks (or longer) will not count against the cap. So as of now, his cap money is freed up.

If he eventually returns this season, the cap hit will be minus the time not played.

Are you guys stupid. Why cut a guy that is not costing anything?

If he doesn’t come back this year we have him next year hopefully healthy.

  33. JimbobBucsFan Says:

So JPP comes back to practice after week 6 (Panthers at home). Then we have the Bye week. Then he works his way back into the rotation and gets into playing shape for the next three games. This would mean he could/should be playing full tilt for the last seven games of the season.

Surely that would be a boost if we have any chance to make a run for the playoffs by then. Let us see how our first six games go. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves yet.

Go Bucs! Beat the 49ers first!

  34. Jim Says:

Should have dumped those Firestones for Pirellis, I’m tellin’ ya’…

  35. tmaxcon Says:

bucfan using the world playoff in any post is hilarious and could result in the clearly delusional individual to be baker acted…

this is a 4-12 roster ladies get used to it and accept it… it’s the bucs if you have hope you are just setting yourself up for failure and the inevitable NUTPUNCH! cups are 2 for 1 at academy sports and walmart stock up

  36. WyomingDude Says:

Good Lord gents…JPP does NOT, I repeat he does not get paid while on the NFI list. Go look up the CAN, under that list and it’s ramifications. No pay period. And ask @macabee.

  37. WyomingDude Says:

    *CBA

  38. JimmyJack Says:

Consider JPP added ammunition for a playoff push this year.

He will be coming in with fresh legs too so don’t be shocked if he makes a major impact.

    GO BUCS!!!

  39. JimmyJack Says:

    Macabee can you confirm this?

    Where is Macabee?

  40. DB55 Says:
