“It’s Starting To Show Up”

Ryan Jensen weighs in

Last season, the Buccaneers were able to accomplish something very rare among NFL teams, and it usually results in a playoff berth.

They were able to keep all five starting offensive linemen healthy during the season.

So one would think they would’ve been able to gel on and become a cohesive group. But it didn’t happen. While the Bucs boasted one of the premier passing games in the NFL, the run game was among the league’s worst.

And it cost them. A lot.

So, when JoeBucsFan.com caught up with starting center Ryan Jensen this week, O-line gelling was a topic.

“Yeah, definitely,” Jensen responded when asked if the offensive line is beginning to come together as a group.

“It’s been good. We’ve been, you know, I think this was practice ten or something like that, it’s all Groundhog Day at this point. But you know, the more we get to practice together, the more cohesive and better as a group we’re getting, and it’s starting to show up, you know, in the run game and protections and picking up blitzes and stuff like that. And the defense has done a great job with installing all their blitz packages and it’s going to be good for us come the season.”

Yes, Jensen mentioned improvements in the run game. Ronald Jones has been impressive, and Peyton Barber flashed Tuesday with big runs. If the running game is going to succeed like Bucco Bruce Arians says it will, the guys in the trenches will be a big reason why.

Overall the offense clicked often through practices in pads this week, with Jameis Winston looking good and remaining upright, along with promise in the run game.

All that’s left is for that early success to translate into regular season wins.

Dotson was not health all year, Benenoch was MIA, and Cappa was still in football diaper. This result in a lot of diaper rash in the backfield.

So, yes the line will do better this year. Benenoch will be on the bench until he improves or they find an upgrade.

Second highest paid O-line in the league!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only $850,000 out of being THE HIGHEST PAID O-LINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And it is just “starting” to show????????? Its still left to translate???????????? I am sure that some sheep will find ways to make excuses for these poor performances!!!!!! Maybe they will blame the defense for not getting quick turnovers so that the O-line can “get into a groove” LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they are very creative when it come to excuses those sheep are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 will reveal answers to the sheep, that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s just reading the notes but it seems like we’ve had better pass rush / pressure with this defensive scheme and aggressive blitzing, so the O-line has looked worse in that regard, but every day we’re reading about big gains in the run game coming from every RB basically – especially ROJO but also Ellington/Barber; which you’d think would mean improved run blocking, or our defense still sucks against the run. god lol

    GO BUCS

  4. LordCornelius Says:

I don’t recall many if ANY bucs fans on here championing the O-line. It’s probably the #1 collective gripe on here.

So this group of supposed sheep doesn’t even exist.

Keep coming unhinged dude this is hilarious now to me lol

    GO BUCS

  5. BigHog Says:

  6. Kobe Faker Says:

    “The Buc Narcissist

keeps yapping about sheep and real fans and he never talks about the real problem and who created and should be blamed for this dumpster fire

In all sports never has a GM received so little amount of ridicule and blame

The Teflon Gump is stupid but the Bucfanbase is stupider”

Wow and I thought that the political rhetoric was harsh!

This is a new season, all teams are tied for first place, give them a chance!

Personally if I’m not paying the bill I dont care if the Bucs line is 1st or last – results matter.

Only a true sheep lover, and I think you know what I mean, would mention the word sheep three times in a football blog post. Have fun tonight with your sheep realist. Sheepskin condom I presume with your curly little lass?

The reality is that (OL healthy entire season) wont happen again. This OL needs to step it up…if not its time to start changing the pieces and I would start with Dot (due to age) and Jensen (not performing to contract level).

  13. Billy_43 Says:

Easy to stay healthy all season when you give ZERO true effort to finish.

  14. BucsFan727 Says:

    K2 lol diaper rash.

  15. Rod Munch Says:

Another way to improve in the run game is not to be super predictable and run up the gut in the same situation over and over and over again to the point that defenses are stacking the middle and run blitzing because they know it’s coming.
