Booms a long one.
Bucs kickers the past few seasons have been a constant source of heartburn for Bucs fans, and they may have helped cost two head coaches their.
So Joe shares this video he shot yesterday in the Glazer Hut of incumbent kicker Cairo Santos nailing a 51-yard field goal. Santos is not known for making long kicks but the magic pixie dust was with him yesterday.
Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians said rookie Matt Gay should get his turn today at long-range field goals.

Hey Joe, since you are continuing coverage of 1 Bucs’ HOF talent that we let walk out the door for no good reason (GMC), can you pick up ongoing coverage of our other dismissed HOF’er (the guy with his jersey already in Canton, the Beard himself)? Maybe sic Zach on the storyline?
I’m hearing he is slinging it all over the field, no turnovers, and the huddle treats him with “reverence.” I’m hearing he has the starting gig locked up over the wonder child Rosen.
The Week 2 Preseason matchup is shaping up to be jucier than the Week 2 Panthers date?

It doesn’t surprise me that Fitz is lighting up the field. The problem is a lack of consistency.

51 yards at practice is nothing. Santos made most all kicks he needed to last year, but they also knew his limitations. How often is he putting them through from 45 is a big question.

If Santos wins out I’d still keep Matt Gay on the practice squad. How many times did the kickers look ok in training camp and preseason only to flop when the real bullets started to fly.

40 years ago 51 yards was really long.
In 2019 it is not.
55+ begins to get long.
