Mixing Up Practices

June 6th, 2019

Embrace the suck.

The Bucs have yet to release a training camp schedule. But Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians sort of gave a sneak peek into what times practices will be held.

Arians wants to mix up start times of practices in a way to help keep players mentally fresh. There will be morning practices, afternoon practices — some practices that start at 4 p.m. in the dead of the Florida summer day — and some night practices (Joe is guessing the night practices will be inside the GlazerShed but that is not confirmed).

As for practicing inside the GlazerShed, Arians said after the final day of underwear football Thursday, “I hope not.” Players have to get used to playing at the same time games are held, Arians said, which means afternoons in the brutal Florida summer heat.

Arians also said that unless it is raining hard or there is lightning, expect outdoor practices.

blah blah blah..we’ve heard the whole practice when we play saying for years. How about losing that stupid hat and just coach old man.

  2. Buccernutter Says:

He’s obligated to do these interviews after the immense amount of time he’s already committed to coaching.

Buddy you are one dumb POS.

  3. gilhealy Says:

Hey Buddy, you’d shat your pants if BA walked up on you. lol. Pipe down.

  4. Dapostman Says:

That Glazershed needs a better nickname.

Something like the Rotunda down under……………

Oh Butty….. go root for another team.

  6. Allbuccedup Says:

BA or BS? We shall see in september.

  7. Swamp Buc Says:

    Yo Buddy,
you come to the Joe’s to talk fashion or football?

I’ll keep my eyes open for your thoughts on new summer trends the next time I’m on the vogue website…

    Thanks for sharing!

  8. DB55 Says:

Honestly the only way to truly prepare yourself for this heat is to light yourself on fire and practice. That or shove hot coals in your helmet. Either one will do.

  9. Race to 10 Says:

He is working with the roster he has. Add on’s through draft and free agency with virtually no cap space. I think we will have a better season than Dirk could ever dream but if this team is not in the playoffs or has an average season people act like it will be because of the things he said in the offseason which is just stupid. Honestly think if we have a typical buc season its because he isn’t a good coach? Wish people had put this kind of pressure on Dirk but they didn’t expect the fans who knew he was garbage. Get on board or just get on and follow Geraldine to Carolina

  10. BigPoppaBuc Says:

He may change his mind when he sees the physical exhaustion hindering his players’ ability to learn on the field. I’ve been through two-a-days in the Florida summer and it’s brutal. Walk throughs in the AC are better for learning and absorbing, then take it to the heat to practice execution.

  11. 813bucboi Says:

are mike evans hammys ok?……is this his usual summer hammy problems or something more sever?……

    GO BUCS!!!!

  12. SCBucsFan Says:

Buddy, 5 letters. Loser, 5 letters. Coincidence? I think not.

  13. Buc Bobby Says:

Some of y’all kill me. We finally get the best coach we’ve had since Dungy and all you do is piss and moan. Please go one over to JoePanthersFan and get out of here

  14. Joe Says:

That Glazershed needs a better nickname.

Something like the Rotunda down under……………

It is not round and it is not located in Australia.

  15. November's biggest slut Says:

Buddy calm down u fairweather fan

  16. DooshLaRue Says:

Yeah, doesn’t the hamstring thing “happen” to Evans every training camp?
I used to think it was his way out of practicing in the heat, and it may be, but he always plays well so whatever.

Good way to not come across as a diva I suppose.

Glad to see the JBF label of GlazerShed is allowed to be used by OBP… “Allowed??” What’s written on these pages carries no endorsement from One Buc Palace. Please. –Joe
now if JBF Garage Door sponsor and get ad space of the doors :-)…I grin every time I read GlazerShed….excellent !

  18. JimmyJack Says:

Buddy don’t worry. There’s always room on the bandwagon.

  19. JimmyJack Says:

Don’t worry about Evans. I think I remember him missing one game a few years ago. He is durable without a doubt.

  20. SCBucsFan Says:

If Evans and JW don’t have chemistry by now a couple of sessions of underwear football isn’t going to make a difference

  21. SB Says:

I have a weird feeling that we are going to surprise people this yr. My biggest concern is the DL. Suh for McCoy is pretty much an even swap but the loss of JPP scares me.
Offensively I think we will see the best Bucs O Ever! Loss of Hump sucks but I think Watson and Miller will fill those shoes just fine.
    GO BUCS!

  22. ben Says:

I had to laugh …BA is the best coach besides Dungy the bucs have ever had??… Maybe you might wait till the season starts as BA also has had his failures in the past . i would put more faith in the defensive coordinator to help change to a winning record

  23. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

BA is the best new coach before any games have played since the last new best coach before any games were played…

  24. NOSBOS Says:

He salty cause softie gone. Guess he figured former 93 was talking to him personally when he use to say “god bless you buddy”😁.

  25. JGhoti86 Says:

    Joe,

Did I understand correctly? Did BA say that, barring rain or lightning, that all practices would be outdoors and none will be held inside the Glazer She Shed…

I have a weird feeling that we are going to surprise people this yr. My biggest concern is the DL. Suh for McCoy is pretty much an even swap but the loss of JPP scares me.

    —————————————-

I only watched them line up in helmets and the only thing to be said about the defense is that the front seven look very formidable:

    Gholston – V. Vea – N. Suh
    C. Nassib – D.White – L. David – N. Spence

It would have been great to have JPP out there next to Suh. We will just have to do with Suh only playing next to Samoan Hercules Vea! …. AND! Replace Spence with 6’7″ Anthony Nelson opposite Nassib and we have some freaking bookends out there constantly closing the pocket with mass and length off of the edge.

Free roam for LVD and White, mixed with a jolt of excessive speed in the back-end and I smell turnovers!

  27. NOSBOS Says:

Ain’t no two-way about Dan. Turnovers coming and they coming in bunches. You left Barret out of your listing, once those pads come he will reveal himself because he is a dog.

  28. NOSBOS Says:

Mmh,so Suh seems to be infatuated with the speed of this new defense. You slow if you thinking we about to be p***¥.

  29. NOSBOS Says:

See it’s funny the people that actually put on pads and play feel a certain way,but MOs try tell me to temper my expectations. F-outta here wit dat. I can’t help it you can’t see it.

  30. JimmyJack Says:

BucsDan……..VitaV is flying so far under the radar it’s crazy.

Don’t think many people realize how dominate he was last year in those last 5 or so games. I’ve been rewatching some of his games lately and he was truely an impact player. Some of the best football I have seen by a rookie player in quite some time……..If you want a treat check out the Dallas game where he went against a elite OL.

The position groups that scares me is OLB. This is basically a new position for Tampa Bay and it’s hard to guess how these guys will do. Fingers crossed kinda deal.

  31. BucDan Says:

    NOS, you’re right!

I am also excited to see how the 3-4 hybrid lines up and dials it in to contain Cam Newton, along with the exotic packages that Bowles will spin up to counter the Spread that Sean Peyton likes to play.

  32. Succaneers Says:

SUCCANEERS CAN PRACTICE ANYTIME THEY WANT BUT THEY WILL STILL SUCK LIKE ALWAYS,WHAT DOES MID OCTOBER MEAN FOR SUCCANEER FANS? THAT THE SEASON IS ALREADY OVER

YET YOU FAT TURDS SIT HERE YEAR AFTER YEAR AND TALK ABOUT THE SUCCANEERS NON STOP, GET A JOB LOSERS

  33. BucDan Says:

JimmyJack, I am right there with you. Vita was tossing guys left and right with hard hands in what I saw during mini-camp on Tuesday and as a fan, I can only hope that his confidence is rising and the dominance is about to unfurl. The added game attitude from Suh will surely help.

I also can understand where you are coming from with OLB, though you only need that one guy to be able to have that ‘edge’ each year. Plenty of one hit wonders have come and gone at the position across the league and LB is the deepest position along with DB on the team, given Special Teams.

If they are not already on the team, I think that we can find somebody.

  34. Marine Buc Says:

Hey Joe are there any McCoy updates? Lol… Just kidding.

  35. JimmyJack Says:

Suc…….You are right. We talk Buc football nonstop.

Everything else you said was wrong. You didn’t get one thing right and that makes you a self-proclaimed idiot.

There is no use to agrue each and everyone of your BS statements. That’s a waste of time.

  36. Mike Johnson Says:

Please Win Mr. Arians. We..Buc fans like you. Start losing and you will see..Both the gator and water moccasin in us. We are so use to attacking players and coaches..YOU..will be an apptizer.

  37. Allbuccedup Says:

Yes I guess he’s the best coach in years but look what the Glazers, Dommic, and Light hired over the last ten years or so. The proof is on the field. Every team in the division improved their pass rush. Suh Mccoy a wash, lost JPP. All the BS before the season is just what it is BS. I hope for eight wins but even that is going to be tough with the schedule we have. If Jameis goes down we have the sorriest backups in the NFL.

  38. JimmyJack Says:

BucDan. Great point about only needing one guy.

With VitaV and Suh we will take away the pocket. It’s basically guaranteed. One guy consistently beating a tackle will make life very difficult for opposing QBs.

That One Guy from game-to-game could come from different places and angles depending on matchups. This could be a huge benefit for us.

For the first time in a long time the pieces are set up for success on that DL. It’s starts with Suh and VitaV & both players are proven if ya ask me.

  39. Marine Buc Says:

I believe BA is the best the Bucs could have hoped for. I have faith he will be able to make the correct decisions for this team especially when it come to the QB Winston. This franchise is at a major crossroads this year. Is Jameis Winston capable of taking this team to the next level? Is #3 worthy of a 5 year $140 million dollar contract? I trust BA to answer this major question as much as anyone in the NFL universe…

Thank you Joe, I didn’t realize it wasn’t in Australia.

    SMH

  42. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Anyone else get the feeling that BA is just telling us what we want to hear? Accountability, toughness, feeding to the anti-GMC fans with his comments, too stupid or don’t care talk. BA is no fool and understands the pulse of the fan base. I hope he turns it around, but I’ll believe it when I see it.

  43. Isaac haggins Says:

At least , Arians has some real common sense which most sports brat coaches lack !!! Literally sports guys are by in large just not that sharp , ask Kevin Youkalous now that he has a business !!! When asked he said it all , as an athlete everything was done for me and given to me and yes folks these are the coaches you put on a platform and and and this is why baseball is now hiring semi non sports people to excel !!! At Least Arians Can See the Obvious in some situations ( 1 + 2 is 3 ) and isn’t stuck coddling the mentally weak clueless sports brats !!

ThTs at least a start !!!

  44. SenileSenior Says:

The strategy BA is using is to have the guys practice in the heat because it is necessary preparation for the actual games. The dual, concurrent, practices should minimize the time actually spent in the sun each day of practices. The guys won’t be standing around broiling for long periods of time between drills. This should optimize the benefits of the practices.

Duhh! The idea is simple common sense. Why did none of his predecessors think of this?

    In BA I trust!

Succaneers seems like a pretty cool and level headed guy, am I right?

    Good to see.

  46. SenileSenior Says:

When Succaneers shouts I just turn off my hearing aid as it were. In other words I just tune him out. If you don’t read what he says it can’t irritate you as much. (I am still aware of his presence though. )

People like him will shrivel up when they finds themselves standing in a corner shouting at a wall. He may not go away for a long time, but he will eventually given enough time.

This will only work if everyone without exception ignores him.

Meanwhile back at the ranch. Go Bucs!!!

  47. SenileSenior Says:

I do call our stadium RaJay.

I do get that all professional sports is about $$.

In general I could care what label they put on various facilities. I still think in terms of One Buc Place most of the time.

  48. SenileSenior Says:

P.S. I applied twice to Raymond James on two different occasions during my working career. “They” were obviously unimpressed with my resume. I got no response.

It did not bother me that much. My ego was sufficiently strong to dismiss it as their lost opportunity. I did just fine.

So yes I know what business Raymond James is in.

  49. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Over/Under on outdoor practices moving indoors because of rain?

Can’t do that on game day, Bruce!

  50. Hodad Says:

We only play two home games in Sept., then don’t play home till Nov. when the weather breaks. No sense in beating yourself up outdoors for a month for two hot games. Stay fresh, stay indoors, practice but once a week outside, cause that’s the most you need to be out in this heat.
