The New DeSean Jackson?

May 11th, 2019

DeSean Jackson clone?

Former Bucs malcontent wide receiver DeSean Jackson brought a lot to the Bucs. Sadly, it was more nonsense off the field than his worth on the field.

But the Bucs may have found his replacement in Scotty Miller, the rookie sixth-round draft pick out of Bowling Green. He saus he has been lazily compared by some to be the Bucs’ next Adam Humphries, even wears Humphries’ No. 10. But Miller confessed he may be more like another former Bucs receiver.

Miller said his body frame, style of play and mechanics are more like Jackson’s, but without all the cancer baggage.

He may have a point.

Miller was clocked at his pro day at 4.30 in the 40-yard dash. Jackson coming out of college was timed at 4.35. Jackson is 5-10, 175-pounds. Miller is 5-9, 174.

So Miller’s statement may not be so outrageous after all. Now it’s time Miller prove it on the field of play.

How about a video with the Joes against Scotty Miller in a 40 yard dash….that would be fun !

  3. Alanbucsfan Says:

Miller may be most valuable as a punt returner

  4. Joe Says:

Why? Joe would be happy to make it 20 yards in 4.3.

  5. Idianet Says:

I can see it now. “It’s Miller Time!!” – Go Bucs!!

  6. GetOverIt Says:

    It’s Miller time.

  7. donuts Says:

I think we may be off season dreaming here…..6th rounder compared to Jackson the highly touted first rounder from Cal. The sprint speed might be the same but the use of speed on the football field is a much different animal. Say what you want about Jackson off the field (I agree with some of it) he was someone the defense planned against because he knew how and when to use his speed. I am confident that wont be the same for Miller or Miller time. Lets call apples apples and not oranges apples.

    .
yep he needs a YEAR of wight room and diet training…

  10. Dewey Selmon Says:

If he makes the roster he will be inactive come game day.

  11. Defense Rules Says:

Ya, for sure, 6th round pick Miller will light up the NFL, just like DJax has done for what, 9 or 10 years? Of course he will, just like all of our 6th round picks before him.

Hint to Miller: You might want to ACTUALLY ACCOMPLISH SOMETHING BEFORE YOU BE REFERRING TO PROVEN VETERAN PRODUCERS AS A CANCER. Things like that oftentimes have way of coming back to bite you in the proverbial arse.

    “White Lightning”

  13. Doctor Stroud Says:

Going back to Jacquez Green (4.39-40) and (the bad) Dexter Jackson (4.27-40), the history of small, speedy wide receivers with the Bucs is not good. Let’s hope that this kids makes good for himself and the team.

The fastest Jacques ran on KO’s was getting off the field….

  15. WhatTheBuc Says:

Miller was hand timed at his pro day. Half of the scouts had him in the 4.2s. 4.3 was on the high end for his times. I’ll be rooting for him. Only 16% of 6th round picks make it so there’s nothing to lose. Watch the tape of this guy against top NCAA competition. It comical how fast he is. He’s just as fast in pads.

  16. WhatTheBuc Says:

Man Defenserules, Try some reading comprehension. Joe is call Djax a cancer. Miller isn’t. The fact that the statements are in separate paragraphs means that the previous sentence has nothing to do with the current. English 101. Miller is saying he has a similar skillset. I.E. deep threat, take a slant to the house type skills.

  17. Defense Rules Says:

WhatTheBuc… I need a course in reading comprehension? When someone starts off a single sentence with the words “Miller said” then it’s not an assumption that what follows is either an exact quote of what the individual said or a paraphrase thereof. Go back and read the sentence again WhatTheBuc.

  18. Capt Kidd Says:

For the record, Desean was a 2nd rounder, not a 1st. His size and attitude dropped him out of the 1st round.

  19. chopshopp Says:

You mean he’s going to alligator arm balls, not lay out for balls, and have issues with Jameis where they can’t connect?

Jameis is going to have a hard time getting him the ball if all this kid is good for is a go route.

    5’9″? Good luck kid.

  20. BigMacAttack Says:

Dakoda Watson was a 7’th rounder and still playing. I hated when the Bucs let him him go. The Djax cancer statement was true regardless of who said it. It was on display for the world to see

  21. DR FEELGOOD Says:

I haven’t played a down in the NFL but I can call Desean Jackson a cancer!!!! Because he IS a cancer and a selfish piece of crap!!! Unlike Koetter, BA will put this guy in the slot and get the ball in his hands quickly so he can use his speed. If he doesn’t make it, it will be that he’s simply not good enough. I could see every pick making the team this year given the holes that are needing filled. GO BUCS!!

  22. Eric y Says:

Lol the nicknames …. they are so cute

  23. Eric y Says:

Choppshop the people are giving nicknames to a 6 rounder who won’t make the team …. that’s the funny part

  24. Anonymous Says:

Fitz connected with Djax while Winston can’t hit a small fast guy so ..Miller prob wont make the team .

  25. Bird Says:

4.3 forty time. Not what I pictured in photo above

He is white lightning like poster said before.

  26. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Why does that pick make me think of an 80s B-Flick?

LOL…can he return kicks? Because that would be the perfect thing for Gene to scream as he takes one to the house!

he has a sweatband on and it is May….wait until August kid !

  29. Magadude Says:

OH Geeze. Dontee Dye II? No, not DJax Clone. Seriously?

Funny how other NFL QBs could hit DJax on the fly, but not Jameis. They all sucked I guess. Nah.

  30. Magadude Says:

BA could do a 4.3 himself. He just chooses not to get out of his golf cart. After all, this is a retirement job for he and Jason.

  31. Just Sayin’ Says:

    Looks just like Johnny Football

  32. View from 132 Says:

A white guy will never be known for speed. If he has a breakout game, BSPN talking heads will compare him to Edelman, at best, or break out a Steve Largent reference.

  33. NCFlorIdiot Says:

Defense Rules… Did Scotty Miller say he is like DeSean Jackson but with out the “cancer baggage”? or is that Joe writing an article??? Is there a quote in this article??? I didn’t see one… Chill

  34. #1bucsfan Says:

@just saying. Hahahahaha he does look like Johnny football

  35. Cobraboy Says:

This kid has JTO wheels. Between him and Perriman, the WR corp just got a LOT more explosive.

I’m not too worried about him in the slot. I expect Brate to share significant slot time in 4 WR sets.

  36. unbelievable Says:

I’m sure this time the small speedy WR we selected in the late rounds will pan out. I mean we’re like 0 for 7 over the last decade, so it’s about time, right? Right???

  37. D1 Says:

    NCflor,

Miller said his body frame, style of play and mechanics are more like Jackson’s, but without all the cancer baggage.

    He may have a point.

    ………..

It doesn’t appear joe added to the statement as Joe clearly adds his opinion afterwards.

  38. D1 Says:

    Donuts,

    Excellent points.

I’d add that DJAX is one helluva route runner and knows how to create space in a route. The idea that a rookie is going to be able to come in and be able to run the types of routes that DJax does is out there.

  39. D1 Says:

    Dr feelgood,

I’m going to guess here but it sure seems like you’ve bought in to the idea that DJax only ran go routes or can only run goes. Both are incorrect .

But let’s say you are correct , then the other statement you make is wrong. DK did in fact use him creatively.

Pick one, but know one will be wrong.
