Suh’s Influence

May 30th, 2019

Excited for new teammate.

Out one door and in through another.

That’s what is happening with the Bucs defensive line. Gone is stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy. In comes Ndamukong Suh.

Unlike GMC, who rarely lined up in a three-man front, Suh comes from a Super Bowl team that primarily ran a three-man front. And last year’s first-round pick for the Bucs is itching to pick the brain of Suh to learn how to master this new defense.

“It is going to be great,” second-year tackle Vita Vea said Tuesday of Suh coming to town. “He made it to the Super Bowl last year so there is a lot of knowledge of the game, not only making it to the Super Bowl, but his resume, the way he plays. That will be good to play next to him.”

And how does Vea hope to learn quickly from Suh? Think sitting in a college lecture.

“You can learn a lot,” Vea said. “Sometimes, you just sit there with your paper and pen and just take notes. Try to soak up as much as you can. Shoot, I did it with Gerald and [Jason Pierre-Paul] last year. Will be nice to do it with [Suh] now.”

Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians believes Vea will be a good student, if he speaks up.

Vea believes he can learn a lot from listening and watching Suh because their style of play is not that different.

“I think there are a lot of similarities,” Vea said. “[Suh is] a really powerful guy. He’s a great player. I am still beginning my game so I don’t know if I can match-up or compare myself to him yet. I still have some years on me.”

Joe just hopes one thing Vea doesn’t learn is how to loaf like Suh.

Suh loafed his way right to the superbowl. Wonder why no one ever took shots a Geraldine that way. Pure pass rusher who hasn’t logged double digits sacks like suh did as a rookie, hasn’t won defensive rookie of the year like suh did as a rookie but for some reason this site keeps bringing up the worse parts of suh’s game before he even suits up for practice and for some reason doesn’t think something is wrong with that. Seems like your still salty about bucs not drafting the guy you wanted.

  2. Joe Says:

but for some reason this site keeps bringing up the worse parts of suh’s game before he even suits up for practice and for some reason doesn’t think something is wrong with that.

    1. Haven’t heard one respectable NFL analyst (which also includes Bill Polian) say Suh didn’t coast through the regular season.

    2. Haven’t heard one respectable NFL analyst (which also includes Bill Polian) or offensive coordinators say GMC loafed.

(Have heard GMC freelanced and Joe wrote about that. Freelancing is not loafing.)

Seems like your still salty about bucs not drafting the guy you wanted.

Little bit. Not so much they didn’t get Josh Allen or Ed Oliver, but irked they traded back from early third-round when they could have had Darrell Henderson.

  3. Todd Says:

Reading through the article I was like, “Good. Yes. Uh-huh. Right on.”

Was almost finished…thinking Joe just wrote a positive article without a hint of negative skepticism.

    And then BOOM!

    Not to disappoint…Groundhog Day!

Ya just can’t do it, can ya, Joe?

  4. Magadude Says:

So, is Suh planning on showing up Suhn? I know he was on vacation, but this is a little odd IF he’s not here yet.

  5. Destinjohnny Says:

Vea is going to be good man as is Devin
Jason has to hit more picks for us to have a chance

  6. Joe Says:

So, is Suh planning on showing up Suhn? I know he was on vacation, but this is a little odd IF he’s not here yet.

Not odd when you are overseas for a planned vacation with your fiance.

He’s scheduled to arrive today and be at practice tomorrow. Guessing he will be on floppy hat patrol.

  7. Buccaneric Says:

It’s almost as if Licht thought, after coaching up Vea last year, “There must be a lineman he could emulate in Free A–oh…. bye Gerald.”

  8. Joe Says:

Ya just can’t do it, can ya, Joe?

Nope. Joe’s going to give you his honest opinion. Not going to lie and con readers no matter how much you want Joe to sell out for free and ruin his business.

Joe will turn the tables on you:

You just can’t do it, can you Todd? You just can’t stop asking Joe to lie that one of the worst organizations in the NFL has instead won six Super Bowls the past decade, can ya Todd?

Why do you want Joe to be so dishonest?

  9. SCBucsFan Says:

I guess the point Joe is no one needs to remind the faithful we have been horrible. As a Bucs fan from day 1, and the McKay days, I know the pain. But why focus on the bad? Right now we are tied with the rest of the division, why not enjoy it?

I’d rather be optimistic and incorrect then pessimistic and correct. Keeping it real? That’s just an excuse to say whatever you want… and, as this is your pool and we are all swimming for free, that’s your right.

  10. Joe Says:

I guess the point Joe is no one needs to remind the faithful we have been horrible.

Actually, Joe should include this reminder in every post.

If the Bucs were a government entity, there would be federal investigations over the mismanagement.

  11. Todd Says:

    Joe—

“Why do you want Joe to be so dishonest?”

    OBJECTION, your Honor!

As you know, your Honor, with a straw man fallacy, someone (Joe) attacks a position the opponent doesn’t really hold. Instead of contending with the actual argument, he instead attacks the equivalent of a lifeless bundle of straw (thus, Straw Man fallacy), an easily defeated effigy, which the opponent never intended upon defending anyway.

So I ask Joe, how did Joe arrive at the false conclusion of me arguing that Joe can’t write an article without injecting an element of negative cynicism into it as me asking you to lie?

As evidence, your Honor, I present the article above. If Joe would have posted it sans the last paragraph, it would have been a positive article. Not a reasonable reader on the jury would surmise, “Wow, Joe just lied.”

While inventing logical fallacies may be Joe’s gift, I ask that his Straw Man be stricken from the record.

    Judge: “Sustained!”

  12. Youngbucs Says:

Thank God you’re not one of the personnel evaluators for the team you’d have Batgirl out there playing Olay letting karama McCaffrey ECT…run all over us but yeah you’d have Darrell Henderson woohoo how about getting an o lineman instead and then you won’t have to worry about a run game that’s something you should be salty about not about getting a shifty back that’s just going to get hurt behind a garbage run blocking o line

  13. Todd Says:

    [Enough! — Joe]

  14. RODNEY ALLEN Says:

“If the Bucs were a government entity, there would be federal investigations over the mismanagement.”
But would it really Joe? I feel like as long as those government politicians were all making money. Itd be ignored 😂😂🤷‍♂️

  15. unbelievable Says:

Some of y’all need to grow a pair and stop being so sensitive.

Maybe if the Glazer children and this organization had done one single thing over the last 10+ years to demonstrate even an ounce of football instincts, Joe would be all pie-in-the-sky, sunshine and rainbows optimistic. But they haven’t.

He’s just keeping it real. Stop needing everything to be sugar coated for you. This roster still has multiple glaring holes. Every pro in the game knows Suh takes plays off, that’s been his MO for years. Why do you want to be lied to and told otherwise?

  16. SCBucsFan Says:

True Rodney. With this level of incompetence they would be awarded a NBA team too.

  17. Alanbucsfan Says:

“If the Bucs were a government entity, there would be federal investigations over the mismanagement.” – Joe

Or, the Bucs would be accusing NFL teams of colluding to cover up their own
    corrupt management.

  18. Youngbucs Says:

RODNEY ALLEN. Absolutely correct just put Miss in front of any word. Misspoke mistaken mismanaged misplaced miscalculated. Fedawull gubment = alot MISS

  19. Bird Says:

It’s clear from most posters on this site

Suh= a demigod; mean ; a savior ; works hard ; makes other guys better

McCoy = garbage ; reason for losses ; loafes ; selfish ; cancer in locker room
    ————

    SMH
I get that these two will always be in same discussion because of draft position but the hate here for McCoy is gone to a whole new level of crazy.
Has his play been average of late – yes
Have other players with average play (insert QB here ) on this team get this kind of negativity and hate – nope. Some are still worshipped (insert qb here)

  20. Youngbucs Says:

Alan but I remember people on here saying Mueller has indictments and Trump’s a Rooskie and I replied that FBI can indict a ham sandwich and also convict one with a 99.9% conviction rate nothing is shady there right those Federal jury pools they’re not corrupt either right none of those jurors could be Democrat right sure

  21. Clean House Says:

Todd- that’s pretty funny stuff, good lawyering, and I learned something new,
But why don’t you move on already and get back to coaching the Browns?

  22. Cobraboy Says:

The Rams won on offense, not defense.

The Rams fired their DL coach after the season. That could tell you a lot about Suh’s 2018 season.

  23. Youngbucs Says:

Bird don’t forget to include BA himself “he’s lost a step in his game” “we need you to make a play in the backfield” then when he talks about Suh “he’s one heck of footballer” I’ll go with Bruce Arians opinion over yours

  24. BucDan Says:

    Joe says:

but irked they traded back from early third-round when they could have had Darrell Henderson.

    ——————————-

    Yes. Seconded.

  25. Bird Says:

    Youngbucs

Yah. Arians is gonna talk negative about the new guy he signed.
A guy they had to sign cause Jpp broke his neck and McCoy gone cause not worth 13 mil

So your opinion Is actually pretty funny
    Thanks for the laugh

  26. Bird Says:

And thanks for bringing in politics

    Buc site here

  27. unbelievable Says:

lol youngbucs you’re just blabbing a bunch of buzzwords without saying anything remotely coherent.

Please leave the politics off JBF, especially if you have no clue what you’re talking about in the first place.

  28. Bucsfanman Says:

Don’t like Joe’s “negativity” yet read and post incessantly! Interesting.
Hopefully, Suh will have a major influence on this young man playing the position.

  29. Alanbucsfan Says:

    Youngbucs-
    Both political parties suck.
    Our political system sucks.
People have the power to fix, but they don’t use it.
    Thank G-D for football!

  30. Youngbucs Says:

Well “unbelievable” your name just says it 16 million-dollar investigation and Mueller gets the ride into the sunset stealing all our money yep unbelievable I’m the incoherent one though

  31. Youngbucs Says:

Alan I don’t always bring up politics but when I do I choose not to be a willful idiot but you’re right this is a football site and I’ll drop the politics as far as saying anything negative about Suh oh yeah that’s a give mebut McCoy was on the team and he talk negative about him so your point is oxymoronic thank you for showing that part of yourself

  32. Youngbucs Says:

Sorry that last message was for bird not Allen by the way Allen I agree with you as well

  33. The Fighting Schiano's Says:

    Youngbucs,

I don’t want to hear the political opinion of anyone who can’t type out a comment without using run on sentences and no punctuation.

  34. 813bucboi Says:

    joe

did suh coasting thru the regular season hurt his team?…..

how did gmc going 100% work out for the bucs?

5-11 going 100% vs coasting the regular season, dominating the playoffs and a SB appearance….

it aint even close…lol….give me the “loafer”!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  35. Youngbucs Says:

    813 Dilly Dilly to that

  36. ManzielMadness Says:

“Seems like your still salty about bucs not drafting the guy you wanted.

Little bit. Not so much they didn’t get Josh Allen or Ed Oliver, but irked they traded back from early third-round when they could have had Darrell Henderson.”

Good for youJoe, I’m still hurting over not addressing the DLine in the first 3 rounds regardless of adding Suh. For the rest of you coming down on Joe… LOL what do you expect? We’ve sucked for years you can get pissed at joe or Tmax or whoever but we’ve been the biggest sh!t show on turf since Gruden left… and as of this moment I don’t see enough talent or depth on this team to go 8-8 much less make a playoff run.

  37. SCBucsFan Says:

Youngbucs I don’t care if you talk politics but for God’s sake learn how to use a period to make your rants somewhat coherent.

  38. Youngbucs Says:

SC bucs fan Sorry for offending you high priests of grammar.

  39. Wombat Says:

I just hope Suh does his job, whether he loafs or not, he is a WAY better option than what we had before. It seems the last player we had in that position pretty much played HIS own game. That is the biggest knock on him.
Time will tell, and this team needs to stop the run, which we did poorly.

  40. Mike Evans Goat Says:

    Thanks. –Joe

  41. SCBucsFan Says:

    And punctuation.

  42. WhatTheBuc Says:

Suh played out of position last season because Donald played the 3 tech in their 4 man front. That probably had the most to do with any drop in performance. The Rams fired their D line coach but that is an incitement on the coach not the player. That is the team saying that the coach didn’t put his players in a position to succeed.

  43. Oregonbucsfan Says:

Joe, keep keeping it real. These dopes that think we are on the way to a Super Bowl because we hired BA don’t deserve a realistic discussion of this star-crossed franchise. They should just log on to the Bucs house site and suck up all the BS spooned out there.

  44. gotbbucs Says:

McCoy didn’t loaf, he was just an ineffective player even when he went hard.

Steve Biscotti up in Baltimore called McCoy a “game wrecker” after his visit there. I can buy that, he wrecked lots of games by getting washed out of his gap and trying to arm tackle ball carriers and missing them.
What worked for him in college didnt work in the pro’s, and he never tried to improve his game. Now he thinks going vegan will help him? How about learning to use your hands to shed a block instead of firing off and titty bumping?

  45. Red86 Says:

Gee Joe. We get that your clickbait GMC is gone. (Fun fact: polarizing players aren’t what you call “clickbait” because lots of people don’t want to hear or read about them.) Joe writes about what interests Joe.–Joe It’s time to let it go cause talking about isn’t going to bring him back with his lack of 2nd half production.

(The fans didn’t get rid of McCoy. McCoy’s salary and tapes got rid of McCoy.)

  46. Mike Evans Goat Says:

The censorship on here is CRAZY Lol

  47. Red86 Says:

This is the only thing I’m going to say about the click bait matter. Many authors uses catchy titles that lead to things some people don’t want to read or watch.

McCoy has been the lightning rod to divide the Jbf community. 150 comments per articles several McCoy articles per months both sides dreading each other comments with name calling. It’s time to move on to reunify jbf community.

You are free to post what you may. I also have that same right. I respect all of you that contribute to this great site. I agree with some post and ideas and disagree from time to time. It’s shouldn’t be taking personally to the point of moderation, name calling, or singling out individual(s) in articles if views are different. That’s not cool.

  48. Red86 Says:

    Thank you Mike Evan Goat!

Currently in moderation for posting “The fan didn’t release McCoy. McCoy’s salary and 2nd half tapes released McCoy.”

No name call or disrespect to anyone on this site. smh.
