Murphy-Bunting Talks Bruce Arians’ “Legends Dinner” Plan

May 23rd, 2019

Bucs rookie CB Sean Murphy-Bunting

There’s a new plan being executed at One Buc Palace, one of many innovations by Bucco Bruce Arians.

It’s a rubber-chicken-type circuit designed to formally deliver knowledge and form bonds between young Bucs and team icons.

Rookie cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting called it a “Legends Dinner” plan by Arians, one that led Ronde Barber to get in front of the second-round pick — man-to-man.

Speaking on WDAE-AM 620 today, Murphy-Bunting said Barber counseled him on developing a healthy mental state, balancing the physical and mental sides of the game with a home life. And always outwork the next guy mentally and physically was a big piece of advice, Murphy-Bunting added.

Interesting stuff by Arians. Can Joe get an invite to the Warren Sapp dinner? Would somebody please get Earnest Graham in here to talk to Ronald Jones? Maybe Martin Gramatica can share every ounce of wisdom he has with the battling Bucs kickers?

Joe likes that Arians is pushing the issue and getting the “legends” here in a more organized fashion.

It was beyond ridiculous and borderline irresponsible for Dirk Koetter and Jason Licht allowing more than a year to pass before Barber spent significant time with Vernon Hargreaves. Shame on you for that, Dirk and Jason.

A well-spoken dude, Murphy-Bunting had a quick and thoughtful answer when asked about transitioning from college to the NFL.

“It’s a lot faster. You have to buy in a lot more to the program and what’s at stake,” Murphy-Bunting said. “Because everyone’s competing for the same thing and you kind of know that. In college, it’s obviously a little different because everyone has different goals and different things in life.”

maybe vh3 didnt have time for barber, vh3 seems more of an instagram football player than a real one on the field

  2. anderson Says:

this is the big difference between this coaching staff and leadership, there putting young players in a position to succeed, I believe lavonte david will have a great year with being able to blitz much more and actually using him the right way unlike lovie and koetter.

  3. AKickInTheBucNuts Says:

Finally! Some talk about SIGNED players on this team!

    Forget Suh until he’s signed.

Haven’t we all seen this franchise bungle multiple contracts for players and coaches?

Like BA says: Let’s talk about the guys that are here.

  4. Bucs45 Says:

    ^Is Murphy-Bunting even signed yet

  5. SenileSenior Says:

Also, it looks like Hargreaves is out of the dog house already (if he ever was inside in the first place).

I saw a clip from OTAs where he batted a pass away this morning.
    _____________
    Go Bucs!!!!

  6. Lord Cornelius Says:

I don’t blame the coaches for that. VHIII has the resources to reach out to former players. It does help to see this tho

  7. Billy_43 Says:

Lots of interceptions yesterday in practice.
Murphy Bunting, Carlton Davis, Devin White.

Defense is back to swarming on the field.

  8. Billy_43 Says:

Lots of undercuts too which is route recognition and a result of press corners.
    Not bad throws.
Devin Whites was just a STUD in action.

  9. joestang Says:

Ronde Barber should replace helpless GM Licht as new GM

  10. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Earnest Graham??? lol

Yeah, let’s get in a failed RB to talk to Jones.

Why not Warrick Dunn? Or some RB Arians had elsewhere?

  11. TBUC North Carolina Says:

I agree with joestang!!!! Or grab John Lynch when his coach seeks more power!

  12. 813bucboi Says:

    SENIOR

    I AGREE….

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  13. BuccYa Says:

Cmon Joe! You’re making it seem like Dirk shooed away former players like Schiano did. I personally don’t think that was the case.

  14. Eric Says:

Sounded like a good kid, speaks well.

But we have seen that before haven’t we.

  15. westernbuc Says:

Lovie used to have all the old timers come around and “mentor.”

And let’s be clear, Hargreaves isn’t trash because they didn’t get Ronde involved

  16. JimmyJack Says:

Bunting Carlton & Dean are the 3 CBs Imost looking forward too.

I heard that Bunting excells in covering a deep half. Would be to not hold my breath that Michael Thomas or(god forbid) J.Jones is going to torch the top of our defense at will.

  17. JimmyJack Says:

    typos*

  18. swamp buc Says:

earnest graham is a failed RB? HA! now that’s funny!

dude carved out a role on our squad with pure determination.

  19. #1bucsfan Says:

I wouldn’t call Ernest a failed running back if you make a nfl roster an stuck around for more than 3 years sorry that’s not failure but I will say he wasn’t the fastest or the flashiest but the dude did run with determination

  20. Barack's Crack Pipe Says:

I’ve already made the point about the draft, that seeking team leaders is something that successful teams do, that Licht-weight never seemed to do before BA arrived. Well it is also becoming apparent to me that our staff is paying attention to wonderlick(sp?) scores as well, something else that Licht-weight never seemed to care about. Why is he still here?
