Kicker Video From Today’s Practice
May 10th, 2019Rookie minicamp isn’t the most exciting place, though it can be.
Who could forget the ridiculous highlight reel catch Mike Evans made back in 2014. It was an eye-popper to the extreme.
Today at Day 1 of Bucs rookie practice, Joe spent a chunk of time watching the big guy working alone in his own area — fifth-round pick Matt Gay, the kicker out of Utah.
Gay appeared to be trending right with his kicks off a tee early in practice. (It’s the first 30 minutes of a May practice; calm down!)
Joe thought this video below of Gay was a little funny, only because Gay looked back after his miss as if he was wondering if anyone saw him push the mid-range kick wide right. Joe suspects Gay knows all of practice is on video, but maybe not at that very moment.
The real kicking competition starts next week in OTA practices, when Cairo Santos jumps in the mix.
Unfortunately, media isn’t allowed to attend all spring practices, so the real meat of that early competition will be a secret — if the Bucs want it to be.

May 10th, 2019 at 5:03 pm
Gay saves the day!!!!!!!!
May 10th, 2019 at 5:05 pm
You post a miss. The negative articles keep coming. Why not post one he knocked right down the middle!
May 10th, 2019 at 5:22 pm
SC bucs fan
Because this is J oebucsfan. They breed off of negativity. Negativity get clicks. Common misconception. Wins and good feelings is what fans crave, and those W’s build hungry fans who can’t get enough. Anything negative in the headline here to get the “click” you seem to think Joe is obsessed with? Didn’t think so. –Joe

I heard Scotty Miller’s shoelace was untied at the 12 minute mark.
May 10th, 2019 at 5:22 pm
Aw poor Licht apologists need to see some good news from their emporer with no clothes. Give it to them Joe! Make it up if you need to! It’s the only way lol
May 10th, 2019 at 5:25 pm
SC Bucs Fan don’t be a snowflake.
May 10th, 2019 at 5:28 pm
And this Bum was drafted in the 5th round
Lol
May 10th, 2019 at 5:29 pm
Dear Licht Apologists,
There’s this incredible writer named Scott Reynolds who will pretty much spin anything to favor the GM and team even if it requires you to basically pretend you are in an alternate reality where every draft is successful and Aguayo just came off his 4th straight Pro Bowl. I suggest you read his work and then you can dream blissful dreams of Bucs success until the season starts and reality invariably hits you over the head like an anvil like it has for the past 11 playoff-less seasons.
Seriously though, maybe Lee can dress up in a Matt Gay jersey and pretend he just made the kick to win the Super Bowl where JPP has just been named SB MVP and Kendell Beckwith found a shaman who magically healed his busted ankle and now he is taking videos of himself running 4.2 40’s on the track.
May 10th, 2019 at 5:38 pm
I could of done that as a UDFA at half the price.
May 10th, 2019 at 5:44 pm
What’s impressive is how the ball jumps off his foot and how quickly it elevates. He looks like a NFL kicker to me. That’s more than I could say after watching lots of Aguayo kicks.
May 10th, 2019 at 5:49 pm
Hilarious Rob! Lmao.
Insulting Joe is for other websites. Thank you. –Joe
May 10th, 2019 at 5:54 pm
Run Jameis Run!!!!
May 10th, 2019 at 5:57 pm
I was very happy with the Gay pick. They drafted him for a reason and if they are right I will be a happier person..
And I promise that I will never take another automactic FG for granted again…….just please…….for the love of God………find me a kicker!!!!
Let the Bucs get good first. Then we can be great.

Any confirmation on JPP waiting to see if his neck heals?
May 10th, 2019 at 6:40 pm
Mitch… I saw a headline he chose no surgery… only time will tell how long before he is cleared to play
May 10th, 2019 at 6:49 pm
No surgery for JPP. They will check his neck in 4 months.
May 10th, 2019 at 7:05 pm
No surgery is a great business decision by JPP
The Bucs can’t place him on NFI now
May 10th, 2019 at 7:11 pm
A tradition like none other: reading about the new kicker missing warm up kicks in practice. It’s almost as comforting as the Christmas lights around the scoreboard around Christmas.
May 10th, 2019 at 7:12 pm
1 missed kick does not a bust make. No kicker in the history of the NFL has ever been perfect.
May 10th, 2019 at 7:15 pm
AwShbucs, yes there has been a perfect kicker. George Yarno (RIP) never missed an XP.
May 10th, 2019 at 7:16 pm
Aww…@Joey, there you go again. Way to keep attacking @Mike Evans GOAT and the few other Buc fans that periodically spend time speaking to each other here. Joe’s not attacking anyone. –Joe And @Joey, you gotta get better at being able to discern and correctly characterize things from objective Bucs fans, instead of conveniently launching in to your “insult” theme. Here’s a hankie.
When one says the content has been lackluster or reaching, that is an objective opinion by an outsider as a statement of perceived fact, not a porr wittle insult, as you claim. Better yet, if you want all the feedback here to be rainbows and butterflies, then the content should be solid. Joe doesn’t tolerate insults here for two big reasons: 1) There’s no reason to. 2) Joe doesn’t want anyone thinking a misrepresentation of the website is something Joe agrees with. Blowing it off, while interacting on other subjects, could be considered tantamount to agreement. Joe wouldn’t consider telling or anyone else how to run their business. Joe has no problem with disagreement on Bucs issues and anything else that doesn’t misrepresent the business of JoeBucsFan. –Joe
Leave this comment alone as is, and I’m sure the pther Buc faithful will definitely agree with….me.

I’d have signed Austin MacGinnis, off the street! https://twitter.com/i/status/1052552714717208577 … From 60yds – at sea level – when it’s cold & windy.
May 10th, 2019 at 7:30 pm
So he was perfect for his entire career?
May 10th, 2019 at 7:31 pm
So let me get this correct: Kicker is putzing around with the pipe holder, pushes one a tad right, and Joe feels a need to post the video.
Why not post a video from 20 yards further back where he nails it?
Look, Joe posted the video Joe had that was clear. Not asking anyone to like it. P.S. Joe’s not the guy who missed the kick. Joe certainly doesn’t expect the guy to make every kick. Not sure any clear-headed Bucs fan does.–Joe
May 10th, 2019 at 8:05 pm
Why are the goal post crooked? Really. If you are gonna even mess with even practicing kicking, maybe have a level crossbar.
May 10th, 2019 at 8:30 pm
He a bust and they should cut him now…cut anyone who misses a kick.
May 10th, 2019 at 9:07 pm
LoL.Joe on the sideline mean muging the kicker most of the prctice. Any postive feed back for the masses today Joe? Or was it all doom and gloom? It’s really easy to scroll the home page and read positivity. It’s there for you daily. –Joe
May 10th, 2019 at 9:08 pm
Damn Jackwagon! Whether anyone agees w/ you or not, that was SO well said.
Now I could go on a nice, long tangent on why this off-season hasn’t been the best for the JoeBucsFan.com website…for many reasons, but I won’t. You could try, but it would not be accurate. –Joe When it comes to the actual preseason, and especially the regular (or real, whichever you prefer) season, the Joes have never missed a beat. And I’ve been reading this website since the early days when Joe had to explain why he chose the jersey number he did for the image, to “fans” here at website back in the day. But yes, this offseason has been the first time I’ve been disappointed in a few things here (again, not to expound, as we can all make our minds up if we agree) and the Joe’s have definitely tried to spin things their way, pick one piece of a whole puzzle to stab at and have played “Rockstar” armchair GM to a degree that they think the team would be better off run if they were in charge and in the decision chair. That’s all just truth and fact, so I’m not taking a sh** at anyone here. If the Joe’s don’t realize it, that’s their fault and stubbornness. I even get why (after so many years of losing and questionable decisions), but to deny is to shame yourself.
Because make no mistake, this website when on and except for these past few months, is top notch. There’s no denying that. But get your stuff together Joe’s, you all are so much better than the past few month’s example. Yawn. Joe has had the same approach for years. Joe simply cannot care when people like the site or don’t like it. Joe’s happy the traffic continues to grow, including various metrics that absolutely shock the digital media world in a good way. This site wouldn’t be what it is if Joe catered to the bitter, loud voices, positive or negative. –Joe

He reminds me of Janikowski.
Big body, big leg.
Let’s hope he gives US the same longevity.

Joe
I was in no way miss representing you or this website. I do not speak for you or this website. I was stating my opinion (which is based in fact) that you post a majority of negative articles. The negative article total is your opinion. Joe is confident that if you took a snap snapshot of any 10-day period, you’d find a very balanced blend of content. And considering the Bucs are coming off back-to-back, 5-11 seasons, a rather quiet free agency period and a draft that didn’t make the masses dance in the street, Joe believes that blend makes a lot of sense. Joe looks forward to returning to the days when Joe is berated for being too much of a cheerleader.–Joe Like SC said, why not post a video of him nailing one from 50 yards? What was the point of posting his miss?
May 11th, 2019 at 12:19 am
How come my post not approved? Seriously…
May 11th, 2019 at 1:08 pm
Okie dokie Joe!
May 11th, 2019 at 1:41 pm
Right. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence.
May 12th, 2019 at 12:31 am
Dropping a kicker video on a football blog is like putting video of two dudes on an adult site. Cmon Joe, nobody needed to see this.
May 12th, 2019 at 12:37 am
No matter how bad the kicking gets…it’s still better than Neil O’Donnell.
