Bruce Arians: Bucs Offensive Players Are A Quick Study & Disciplined
May 21st, 2019It might be time to put that America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, poster back on your wall.
Joe is not kidding.
Standards were raised in a big way under head coach Bucco Bruce Arians and that’s gone down while a brand new offense is being installed.
The Bucs absolutely must learn in a hurry. Have you seen their brutal 2019 schedule? They simply cannot afford a slow start. A 2-4 record at the bye week would be catastrophic.
So Joe asked Arians today, following the Day 4 OTA practice session, how the learning curve is progressing for his offense.
JoeBucsFan.com: Coach, you’ve installed your offense with a handful of different teams. Are these Bucs a quick study? How is that end of it going?
Bucco Bruce Arians: Extremely quick. You know I always have an accountability sheet, which is penalties and mental errors every day. And we’ve had as many as three pages [with other teams] when we just get started. From both [practice] fields, we only have one page, which is a very, very high tribute to [Bucs players] because we’re very strict on it. So they’ve been a quick study but they’re also very conscientious about it also.
Hearing this great news made Joe think about how quarterback coach Clyde Christensen said this month that Jameis Winston was extremely well coached before Christensen arrived. Perhaps this is evidence that they really were?
Regardless, it certainly speaks to Jameis’ command and football IQ.
Another good early sign at One Buc Palace. Yeah, it’s May, but enjoy it.

Coach pep talk…

The cancer is gone, the Bucs become strong!
May 21st, 2019 at 2:01 pm
The offense will have to play lights out. I thought our defense was bad last year. This year I believe it will be worst, specially at first. Between all the rookies and new scheme it should be interesting.
May 21st, 2019 at 2:02 pm
Yeah, and Winston doesn’t toss INT’s in underwear practice. And he doesn’t crotch grab either.
May 21st, 2019 at 2:05 pm
Well let me play Devil’s advocate here:
So if they were all really well coached before this new staff came in… then I guess coaching wasn’t the issue the last few years?
So if that’s the case, how has this roster improved in any way?
May 21st, 2019 at 2:07 pm
unbelievable…EXACTLY!!!!…. so basically its lichts fault for obtaining a crappy roster
May 21st, 2019 at 2:10 pm
I would be excited about our offense if we fixed the right side of the offensive line. Hopefully with GMC gone and 13 mil free, we could find a rough diamond when teams starting cutting players to 53 slots.
May 21st, 2019 at 2:12 pm
Jason has put together a very good offense, which is what the league is all about presently.
Good things to come.
May 21st, 2019 at 2:13 pm
A Jameis poster?
They actually make those?
May 21st, 2019 at 2:16 pm
being “coachable” and “developed” are 2 different things….lol….
this team hasnt been developed properly by the former coaches…..all the players are willing and wanting to learning but if the coaches arent playing to their strengths or putting them in position to be successful their development will be hampered….
GO BUCS!!!!

If they allow to Jameis to play his Heisman game like at the end of last year, we could see a show. Last six games had 3 picks (one a last second bomb). He probably decided for himself (because Koetter’s a joke) he was going to start using his legs. He has very good legs. Good at scrambling out of the pocket and pulling DBs off receivers and has a Ben Roethlisberger size and even more speed to gain yardage on the run. Excited to see what he looks like this year.

813 buch – Not a bad analysis.

I just saw this on NFL.com:
Here are other moves we’re monitoring on Tuesday:
1. The Oakland Raiders are hosting tight end Erik Swoope for a workout, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. Swoope, who has played for the Colts and Saints, has also worked out for the Buccaneers and Redskins and Rapoport added he should get signed soon.
Why are we working out a TE?
Brate trade in the works?

Breaking news..we signed SUH
May 21st, 2019 at 2:50 pm
No details but now Suh and Vea on the same line…
May 21st, 2019 at 2:50 pm
Tampa is finalizing deal with Suh…
May 21st, 2019 at 2:50 pm
And old hand Tom Moore joining the staff.
One of the all time great assistant coaches and QB guru.
May 21st, 2019 at 2:51 pm
Bucs signing Suh!
May 21st, 2019 at 2:53 pm
JUST REPLACED MCCOY FOR SUH. ONE OLD PASS RUSHER FOR ANORTHER.
May 21st, 2019 at 2:54 pm
Wherever GMC goes he’ll be motivated now….signing Suh has to sting.
May 21st, 2019 at 2:55 pm
Suh is more than a pass rusher. He fits in the 3-4 and is excellent against the run. Big plus also is he isn’t soft AF
May 21st, 2019 at 2:55 pm
Called it!!!!!!!!!
May 21st, 2019 at 2:56 pm
Hell ya!!!

The issue with Dirk Koetter wasn’t that he had no idea what he was doing in terms of basic fundamentals on offense and concepts with a QB. That wasn’t his flaw as a coach that we would pick up from something like this.
The problem is his offensive philosophy and playcalling style and scheming, literally now for the last 10 years, has consistently been a yardage producer but not a scoring producer.
Laid this out a few times, but look at all the Dirk Koetter offenses in terms of yards rankings vs points rankings and it’s pretty insane.
Typically on average top 5-10 in yards gained but only average in points scored. Whatever the top 10 yardage ranking was – just double it at least for where his teams ended up in scoring.
No problem getting to the other team’s side of the field. But as we all saw – under Dirk Koetter we anticipated missed FGs whenever he entered opponent territory, not TDs. We anticipated holding penalties or sacks on deep drop backs when we’re on the 7 yard line. We anticipated a horrific run game that would put us in long distances to score vs anything easy.
The above is what I hope BA can clean up in him & Lefty run this show.
May 21st, 2019 at 2:57 pm
Suh will be Swaggy without the smile
May 21st, 2019 at 2:58 pm
Suh signing for 1 year! Wonder how much
May 21st, 2019 at 3:01 pm
Better player with the killer instinct we have been wanting from GMC for less money. WIN
May 21st, 2019 at 3:01 pm
Slap in McCoys face for not renegotiating…guess that ENDS the Ring of Honor talk as long as the G’boyz own the team
May 21st, 2019 at 3:02 pm
BA and TB are NOT DONE YET!
We’ll get our stud right guard.
May 21st, 2019 at 3:02 pm
SUH just signed!!!!!
the culture has changed!!!!!!!
GO BUCS!!!!!
May 21st, 2019 at 3:03 pm
lmao this is so crazy that we are signing Suh
2018 Gerald McCoy per pff – 78.63 (#28 DL) 17 solo tackles / 6 sacks / 1 passes defended
2018 Suh per pff – 82.6 grade (#20 DL) 36 solo tackles / 4.5 sacks / 4 passes defended
So looks like an upgrade on paper, likely for cheaper but interested to see the deal.
Biggest thing is no one is going to think of Suh as an icecream man. I will lmao if this truly is the catalyst to the defensive culture change and awakening we need
May 21st, 2019 at 3:09 pm
SUH ! …now go get Leonard Williams, weakness becomes a strength…
May 21st, 2019 at 3:13 pm
Suh a Buc… HMMMM can’t wait to see the contract terms. Him next to Vea should be scary.
May 21st, 2019 at 3:14 pm
bad day for the choirboy patrol first their choirboy hero ran out of town like a punk and now their arch enemy is signed. love it… it’s all coming up tmaxcon today!!!!!!
May 21st, 2019 at 3:17 pm
Ayy, got the guy most Bucs fan wanted from the 2010 draft. Only took 9 years to get him but better late than never. Now we get a better version of McCoy for cheaper and who is experienced in a 3-4.
May 21st, 2019 at 3:17 pm
Feel that? Brees, Ryan, Newton collectively clenched butts.
Suh + Vea = pain
Go Bucs
Not a sheep
May 21st, 2019 at 3:22 pm
Suh to a one year deal. That is a very big addition to help the dline and it’s very unlikely to be an out of the park price.
May 21st, 2019 at 3:29 pm
Trading Suh for McCoy, assuming we save money, is a good move. Hard to find fault in it although I’m not sure Suh will be motivated to play his butt off.
May 21st, 2019 at 3:40 pm
Margus the magnificent? Here we go trashing Jameis! Tom Brady would have lost more than he won with a defense as bad as ours has been for the last 3 years. Give the Jameis trashing a rest, it’s getting old! Has Jameis ever been in the metro section since he’s been here? Have u ever heard of him being out a 3 am drinking all night? Other than the Uber incident which happened 4F ING YEARS AGO has Jameis done ANYTHING other than work his tail off and be a good member of the community? So to talk SPIT about picks when he has done very well, especially the end of last year is ludicrous
May 21st, 2019 at 3:40 pm
*catastrophic*, par for the course
May 21st, 2019 at 3:43 pm

fix the trenches right!!!!!!!!!
licht scared to pull the trigger right????????

#REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!!!

Still need to somehow find a couple new linemen.
May 21st, 2019 at 3:53 pm
Doosh, Joe owns the only two that were ever sold. They’re both tacked to the ceiling above Salty Joe’s bed!
May 21st, 2019 at 8:28 pm
if you put up your Winston poster you will be taking it down after week 3 of season.
May 21st, 2019 at 10:37 pm
I haven’t paid much attention to Suh throughout his playing days, remember he was thought of as a somewhat dirty player early on. Never imagined he would join the Bucs but welcome him to the turn around in the works.
