Bruce Arians And The Jets

Wild story out of New York that doesn’t seem possible.
Did the Bucs nearly miss out on luring Bruce Arians out of retirement? And did the Jets blow their chances at landing one of the better coaches in recent NFL years?
That is the line pushed by “The Pope,” Mike Francesa of WFAN-AM 660 in New York City.
Francesa, who has a rich history of cloaking himself as the ultimate Big Apple sports insider and whose sports predictions are colossally inaccurate to the point of satire, took to the New York airwaves recently to claim he was a go-between for the Jets in their efforts to lure Arians to New York.
Francesa, known to richly embellish the truth (Joe’s personal favorite was Francesa’s allegation that Pentagon generals called him to consult on who to target for West Point’s football coach), explained how the hunt for Arians didn’t go down.
Jets shot-caller Chris Johnson “wanted to talk to Bruce Arians, badly,” Francesa said about the Jets’ coaching search this past winter.
“Bruce Arians wouldn’t talk to him for two reasons. One, Bruce Arians doesn’t like living in New York. And No. 2, Bruce Arians was completely loyal to the outgoing head coach. That’s his guy.”
Of course, the outgoing Jets coach is currently the Bucs’ defensive coordinator and a friend of Arians for decades, Todd Bowles.
Francesa continues:
“Listen, I tried to get Bruce Arians to talk to the Jets,” Francesa said. “He wouldn’t do it. He didn’t want any part of it. I wanted Bruce to come here. I thought it would be fun if he came. And Bruce didn’t want to come.”
What’s hysterical about this whale of a tale is the notion that Francesa would be working behind the scenes for Johnson to land a big fish of a coach for the Jets. Francesa, a known Giants tout, has at best had a rocky relationship with Jets suits. Just a few months ago, Jets types reportedly wouldn’t even make guest appearances on his show, something Francesa himself spoke about on-air.
If one can suspend logic and reason for a brief moment, for the Jets to enlist a guy like Francesa in a coaching search would be proof positive that the Jets are the most inept NFL franchise going. That would almost be like Gerald McCoy hiring Ian Beckles as a backroom broker.

The Jets will likely regret Adam Gase and the Bucs will likely regret BA at some point down the road. As far as wins and losses both teams are not likely to be very good this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rich– I am totally with you. Calling peoples takes in here puzzling is generous. How many unsuccessful head coaches do we see around the NFL vs ones that make playoffs, super bowls or even have winning records… Good coaches don’t just grow on trees. How many coaches did we just go through since Gruden that haven’t made the playoffs? Many of you folks live in fantasy land when it comes to expectations. I encourage more of you actually look things up in NFL history before you post your “opinions” so you don’t look as bad as you do.

Francesa is unlistenable. He is literally the worst person I have ever heard on radio. The guy just sits around and says dumb stuff with absolutely not a grain of truth or believability. LOL – Sorry Joe – that 2nd paragraph sounded like it came straight from an Ancient Aliens episode script….
Where in any of that do you hear that the Bucs almost missed out on Arians or that the Jets “blew it”?
That’s like saying you caught a glimpse of Rachel Watson at an event – Caught her eye and flashed the “OMG you are sooooo beautiful” look – to which her almost mockingly responding look clearly conveyed -“Yea right – loser – Ha – In your dreams”.
And then Joe’s article about the “encounter” the next morning tells how – “Joe’s was ‘that close’ to making sexy time with his dream girl Rachel Watson the previous night….

No offense Joes, but crazy times we live in where sports media personalities such as this guy are written about as if they are worth writing about.
I remember the week of the Super Bowl when the Bucs were in it. A radio guy from Orlando was in San Diego and saying how comical it was that journalists/media people were interviewing other journalists/media people like they were some type of celebrities.
