In the final edition of the Tampa Win Cup podcast, Todd reads the open letter Lightning owner Jeff Vinik wrote to the fans two years ago. Is another letter forthcoming to apologize now? Todd thinks so and wonders why the Lightning seemed more interested “growing the brand” with new uniforms prior to the NHL trade deadline rather than adding an impact player.

Once again the big cat turns into the big wuss. The under size fast speed game gets shut down. Time to blow it up and bring in some size and toughness that can score.

Move aside Bucs…no longer do my Bucs own the title of the biggest embarrassment in Tampa Bay sports history…no longer. The choking pop rocks do…err lightning…from tying a league record to being swept in the first round, leaving the scene with just a whimper. Open the trade gates…time to move some of the self professed great players…

This has to be right upat the top with the Bucs Tennessee Ready!!!!!

DBS… think it is much worse…by far. True, we had our hopes dashed in the Tennessee Ready game. But this was supposed to be one of the greatest Hockey teams in history. It is more on the Spinks beats Ali level. But then again, that is one fight that I don’t think Ali was ready for and was well past his prime. But then, maybe the Lightning were just totally unprepared,… or soft. Time to break it down and start over again. Just think of all the hard working fans money invested on this paper tiger of a team. What a waste.

How could I forget the “miracle on ice” comparison…in reverse? But this time we played the role of the Soviets and the Blue Jackets, team USA. Of course, that was only one game… still say a flop like this is one for the record books…doubt we could have beaten the Soviets four games in a row.

So freaking sad man.

Gritless team.

Gutless cowardly performance! I will be bitter a LONG time!

Well even the experts drank the Kool aid. But I will drink it no more. They must show me when it counts the most now. In the playoffs.

Agree Believer… have to wonder if any games but just enough to make the playoffs matter. And why pay hard earned money if the team will mail it in during the playoffs? Just a huge embarrassment for the Tampa Bay area… When going on vacation hope no one asks you where you are from until well after the hockey season is over. Time to trade some of those high priced softee’s… “puck bouncing wrong way”…”the hockey gods were against us”…please…incredibly lame…makes you want to puke.

“the puck bouncing the wrong way”…anyone what to guess what Lombardi would say about that?

I apparently am a lone outpost of positivity today. After the embarrassment and disappointment wears off, I think many fan’s will come to appreciate what we have.
This team was built for longevity, and with the way we dominated this season, it was understandable to me when we stood pat at the trade deadline. Perhaps it was a mistake to not add one or two physical role players, but I will not join to the “blow it up” crowd. You cannot win it all without first getting there, and before this embarrassment, the Bolts have done that consistently. This team will get us there again for several years more.
This team has gone deep into the playoffs consistently for the past several years, and there is no reason to think it cannot do so for several more years. I appreciate the fact that I can already count on us hitting the postseason again next season.
Don’t forget that the Jackets are a Torterella-coached team that has shown a defiant grit for a couple of seasons now.
Thanks for a memorable season, Lightning. You’ll get em next year.

B..built for what? Continually flaming out when the real games begin? Fine…be happy… just turn off the national news and forget reality. Your choice. Last year Bucs record..you liked? Be happy…
And LC…sad is when you have a boatload of injuries on a good team and you don’t have the horses to compete this time of the year. And sad is when the league goes on strike the year you are to defend your title, when the next year your great GT becomes a FA. Pathetic is when what was supposed to be a good team lays down.
