“I Was Just Talking To Jameis… “

April 1st, 2019

Talks to America.

Joe is frankly surprised these two guys are still on speaking terms.

The guy who did his best to run America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, out of town, malcontent receiver DeSean Jackson, seemed to shrug his shoulders in bewilderment why he didn’t work out with the Bucs and why the Bucs shipped him off to Philadelphia.

In one of TMZ’s classic airport ambush interviews, Jackson crowed about being able to play with a young quarterback like Carson Wentz and eager to put in extra hours working out with him.

This is a strange take since Jackson whined to former Bucs quarterback Chris Simms that he doesn’t gel with young quarterbacks because he doesn’t need to practice.

Wentz has less NFL experience than Jameis. In the interview, Jackson confessed he recently talked to Jameis and said, in so many words, it just didn’t work out in Tampa.

Joe is guessing Jameis still talks to Jackson because he’s unaware of what Joe heard at the NFL combine from a New York-based NFL league employee regarding the stunt Jackson pulled on Jameis, which was about as low as could be.

It is not Winston’s nature to outwardly hold a grudge, and any football player in the limelight, justified or not, cool to do or not, is a big talker. This applies to both Winston and Jackson. Jackson has proved over many years he can ball; Winston is still too inconsistent to make that claim. Yes, it gets tiresome hearing Jackson run his mouth…like Winston, he is also not a leader. And Winston is extremely immature for guy with four years in the league and a team captainship under his belt…that he proved he wasn’t worthy of. So it is logical that many of his teammates don’t respect him–and even after all he put his team through, the dialog is shaping up that poor Jameis had too much pressure on him–like it’s okay for the #1 overall pick going into ANOTHER “prove it” year to get a four year pass becaue of guys like Fitz. GTF OH. Winston had it all going for him and now he’s a big question mark. That is on Winston. Jackson is just telling it like it is. Winston has no right to be mad at Jackson. Sure, time for Jackson to move on, but be real here…Winston has earnd every negative comment, evey sarcastic joke, people make of him. Father Dungy is also disgusted I’d bet.

  2. Defense Rules Says:

Jameis – DJax trials & tribulations is old news Joe. Time to move on. Hopefully Jameis develops a better chemistry with Breshad Perriman as a deep threat. Also looking forward to seeing what Justin Watson can do. He didn’t really get much opportunity last year to showcase his talent (as in 1 reception in 3 targets?).

  3. BucEmUp 7 Says:

Im really sick of seeing this guys face. Hes not a Buc anymore lets move on!!!

  4. Bucsfanman Says:

    DeSean who?!
I hope Jameis blossoms into the franchise QB, I really do.

  5. ChillWill Says:

Megadude when Jamies ball out have the same energy when it comes to giving him credit. He will prove everyone that doubted him wrong!!!

  6. Buc believer Says:

LOOK a dead horse! Let’s go beat it!

  7. Mord Says:

WTH is that last paragraph about, Joe?

It’s not linked to a past article, and if it’s not a tease of a future one, it’s not a particularly ethical bit of shade throwing, is it? Can you elaborate?
Joe has discussed on the Ira Kaufman Podcast many times dating back many weeks when it was learned. Not something Joe can reveal. Was told and explained in confidence, but it is something that would shock any NFL fan anywhere. –Joe

  8. DooshLaRue Says:

    Let it go TMZ-Joe.

  9. Bird Says:

    Blah blah blah

    No one cares about DJax
    Move on

The smear campaign continues even though the guy is officially on another team and joe got his wish. Doesn’t even feel like high school. Difficult to remember that far back but maybe middle school.

“But he damaged someone ‘s Christmas display “

  10. Loyaltotheend Says:

Oh boy more alluding to unanimous sources from far away…

Doesn’t Joe normally bash nyc and far away media. But now he believes this source cus it reinforces his opinion. Joe doesn’t bash anyone in the know. And this credible source volunteered this information to Joe, info so unique and detailed that it didn’t reinforce Joe’s opinion — because Joe never could have considered such a thing. –Joe

What a long offseason filled with nothing

  11. SteveK Says:

DJax was still wide ass open, malcontent or not. Fitz has no issues hitting him either.

  12. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I respect Joe for showing integrity in his journalism. Too many members of the media (probably most of them these days) of no ethics whatsoever.

I would love to know what information Joe was given, but I don’t need it to figure out that Desean Jackson is a con man, liar and a bad player who survives off an unearned reputation.

He’s been bad for more than half a decade, people!

As to the Jameis bashers…well…I’d rather not stoop to that level…

  13. Jameis Almighty! Says:

Fake News. MeJax is a troll.

  14. Joe Says:

    Time to move on.

There is no such thing as “Time to move on.” If there is Bucs news that Joe finds relevant or interesting, especially when it has something to do with the current starting quarterback, Joe is not going to ignore it.

Joe knows of a couple of local outfits that will ignore it. That’s why they are both looking up at Joe’s success, and jealous.

  15. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    SteveK Says
“DJax was still wide ass open, malcontent or not. Fitz has no issues hitting him either.”

Here’s a question for you: have you ever compared those successful plays Fitz had with Desean Jackson to the same playcalls that failed with Jameis?

    It’s a real eye opener.

Amazingly, DJax was able to be where he was supposed to be for Fitz. And yet, on the very same routes for Jameis, DJax was completely off his route or slowed up.

There were even countless times Desean had no one close to him and you could visually see him slowing down after Jameis released the ball.

It becomes clear that Jackson intentionally refused to connect with Jameis.

As to “Fitz has no issues hitting him either”…we all know Jameis had no problem connecting with his other guys when he was permitted to.

Desean like Fitz…even let him wear his clothes for a joke on the media…so he had no reason to sabotage him.

And I’d be willing to bet the secret Joe knows has something to do with Jackson sabotaging Jameis. It’s pretty clear on the tape when you compare.

  16. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Remember, Jameis caused Jackson’s agent to quit on him. Clearly, things progressed badly off the field as well.

  17. Justafan Says:

Why does the Tampa media feel.like they need to trash everyone one the way out? Joe talks bad about Schiano, Lovie Smith, Mike Smith, Koetter, Baker, Jackson etc.
We weren’t able to win with a playoff game with any of them, but that doesn’t make them bad people.

  18. SteveK Says:

    Bonzai

Thanks for the reply. I respectfully disagree. The first two games this year, Fitz had DJax leading the league in receiving. DJax still has the speed and is one of the top deep threats of his generation.

I would argue that Jameis needs to improve his touch/ball
Placement. Jameis throws darts- often times having receivers reach back to make the catch and limiting their YAC.

Why can’t Jameis hit a guy in stride? I think confidence has a lot to do with it. I hope JW3 puts it all together this year. And, anything less than playoffs/lights out qb play= complete rebuild in 2020. No more patchwork!

  19. THETRUTH Says:

Winston kept trying to reach Jamie’s but keep issuing him , just like game time

  20. Loyaltotheend Says:

    @Bonzai

Can’t give the Joes props for journalistic integrity when they dont tell us who writes which post

  21. Joe Says:

Why does the Tampa media feel.like they need to trash everyone one the way out?

For the record Joe liked Schiano. Of course, he failed.

There is generally a reason (except for Michael Bennett) people are let go/shoved out the door. To not give reasons or site explanations for the exit is pretty lame.

If Jackson was a hard worker like Jameis and didn’t try to Pearl Harbor Jameis’ career with the Bucs, Jackson very likely would still be here.

  22. __TGH__ Says:

    🎼 I know something you don’t know 🎼

Either tell us what happened or quit referencing said ‘stunt’. If you don’t want to ‘betray’ your combine source then find another ‘anonymous’ source you can use to share the story.

  23. Bird Says:

    Yah right joe.

If this was fitz it wouldn’t even be a story.
Or if you did write one and laugh at fitz for being a journeyman and that he probably deserves it. Throw in a fitztragic for good measure.

The only reason you keep going back to it is because it was against your man crush
    It’s pretty obvious.
I mean you still think Johnny football is amazing.
Obsessed / deranged / radical joe

  24. Bird Says:

    Fitzpatrick was a hard worker

You had no problem taking shots at him

  25. SteelStudBuc Says:

    @Joe

Just because you hate DJax doest mean we have to.
Just cuz Jameis can’t hit the broadside of a barn doesn’t mean he’s America’s Quarterback…. pro bowl alternate…. last second fill in….

I can’t wait for the day we get a rid of this idiot.

  26. donuts Says:

Wentz is a better QB than Winston. Period.

In RE DJAX/Winston story, I suspect you don’t have the whole story hence the confusing behavior with the two talking. If it was as egregious as you have stated, these two would not be chatting.

  27. Bobby M. Says:

Jackson isn’t the reason ownership removed Jameis from the side of Raymond James stadium.

  28. Mort Says:

Stop teasing it if you won’t report it. If there is no news to report from the source, then just let sleeping dogs lie, so to speak.

  29. AlteredEgo Says:

LOL….”he doesn’t gel with young quarterbacks “….DJax has a bright future in politics after football….plain as the nose on your face why he didn’t “gel” with Jamyth….

  30. Anonymous Says:

Don’t want to hear ANYTHING about Jackson unless it’s the whole story we keep hearing about regarding his undermining his QB and former team. This “if you only knew what WE know” bit is just annoying. And I GET off the record. Why say anything if nothing can be said. Make sense? LOL

  31. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

I want winston and the bucs to suceed but it is a fact that every single qb that djax has had was able to hit him consistently on the deep ball except #3 here in tampa. Mcnabb, cousins, foles, and fitzey. NOt sure how a #1 overallpick cannot complete a consistent deep pass to any WR let alone djax. Also i read this weekend that rojo is on the trading block what is that all about? another licht bust

  32. rrsrq Says:

Why does there have to be any angst between the two. DJax has had a long career in the NFL, why wouldn’t JW tap into that fountain. Not only that, just like politicians debate and throw each other under the bus but had the end of the day they are out having dinner talking about all the people at odds because they don’t know the game

  33. SCBucsFan Says:

Maybe its just me but DJax is gone, I couldn’t care less about him

  34. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

“Joe knows of a couple of local outfits that will ignore it. That’s why they are both looking up at Joe’s success, and jealous.” — Blowhard Joe

  35. danr Says:

My guess. If someone from new york knew something Jackson did,

It probably had to do with trying to hassle jameis with league rules.

My guess is he tried to report jameis for PED’s or pot, hoping it would spark a *random* test, and hoping it happened to come up positive. It would have fixed his QB problem.

  36. 813bucboi Says:

why mention djax did something “shocking” if you cant reveal it?……

so we’re suppose to take your word on something that will never be revealed and trust that it actually hurt or was intended to hurt winston without ever knowing it actually went down….lol….

folks are right….let it go…time to move on…..JBF does more articles on djax than the philly media…..its starting to make you look butt hurt….

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  37. danr Says:

the other option being reporting jameis for hitting a woman or something.

something like: man i just saw jameis in the club and xyz happened.

But that seems alot less likely.

  38. rrsrq Says:

Maybe JW and DJax had a common enemy…

  39. bucsfaninchina Says:

Sorry their relationship doesn’t fit your narrative

  40. Cgmaster27v Says:

Maga dude, mesean has proved he can ball? Stats dont back up your claim. 3 1000 yard season in the last 9 and only averaging about 4 tds during that span. If you call that balling ,Mike evens should be in the HoF. You all overrate Jackson based on his ability to get open long which is literally all hes good at.

  41. JA Says:

I’ll say this about Jackson. He might be a melodramatic malcontent, but preferring Fitz over Jameis proves he doesn’t see skin color. I only mention this because some in these turbulent times try to divide us on this issue. Glad to see that many of us, including Jackson, will not be divided.
Guess some of that Berkeley education rubbed off on the speedy complaint locker.
As for Joe’s secret, we’re all talking about it with no knowledge of its content. I believe that kind of journalism is called, “catching fish with no bait.”

  42. T REX Says:

Man, we sure do crap all over people that leave here. Tampa is LOSER city and hasn’t made the playoff in how long? But let’s dog everyone on their way out the door. Typical Tampa.

  43. Sam Says:

Ok Joe….love ya man…..but you should stop referencing your private conversation you had with an NFL employee….if you arent willing to give more details. Gives the impression you are trying to stir things up. IMO….either talk about it….or dont…. This middle ground is not cool.

  44. D-Rome Says:

Amazingly, DJax was able to be where he was supposed to be for Fitz. And yet, on the very same routes for Jameis, DJax was completely off his route or slowed up.

How do you know they were the same routes and same play calls? Have you seen the all-22?

  45. Cgmaster27v Says:

I love how some of you liie to tell joe what he can and cant write about. The minute you clicked on the article you made the article relevant.

  46. Skywalker0028 Says:

Why keep mentioning this stunt if you can’t tell us?

  47. unbelievable Says:

Well if we’re not gonna move on, maybe we can hear the story about the stunt he did to Jameis that has had Joe harping on him for the last several months?

    Otherwise…. move on 🙂

  48. stpetebucsfan Says:

DJAX got more than half his yards last year in the first four games. After that it didn’t matter who played QB.

I’ve read more than one NFL site…not local..where folks believed the NFL DC’s saw film of those first four games and had safeties account for DJAX. I suppose a point could be made that it created more space for ME and Godwin but DJAX wasn’t always running wide open like those first four games.

  49. spy gadgets Says:
