Bad News, Maybe Good News

Late addition to draft?

So yesterday we learned that manbeast pass rusher Montez Sweat has an unspecified heart issue that was studied by doctors performing physicals at the combine.

Of course, Joe has to rhetorically ask if the issue is that bad for Sweat, why did the NFL allow him to participate in combine drills?

But at about the same time we learned about Sweat, we also became aware that one of the most feared college pass rushers has been declared ineligible for the 2019 season and his college eligibility is over.

East Carolina edge rusher Nate Harvey racked up 14.5 sacks last season and was named American Athletic Conference defensive player of the year.

His eligibility being denied has nothing to do with anything illegal or inappropriate. Harvey played briefly as a freshman at Georgia Military College and East Carolina officials were hoping the NCAA wouldn’t count that against his eligibility. They did.

Now what we don’t know is if Harvey will be eligible for next month’s draft. He didn’t participate in the combine so teams would be starting just about from scratch with research on Harvey.

The supplemental draft might be Harvey’s next stop.

If he’s eligible and still on the board in the 6th or 7th round take a flyer. I mean you may pass up a Joey Iosefa but hey roll the dice.

That sucks. What do u think the chance of him being in the supplemental draft n the bucs going for him there?

  3. UrineMyMouth Says:

@dapostman he gonna be long gone by 6-7th

Looks like Harvey has had a very unique career on a bad team. In 2 years with the Pirates, looks like he played RB in 2017 then DE/OLB in 2018. At 6’1″ & 225 lbs he sounds like a smaller version of Noah Spence. Also looks like almost half of his sacks came in their 2 wins against UConn & ODU (1-11 & 4-8 teams in 2018). I’d pass, but our illustrious GM will probably use our 2nd Rnd pick for the guy.

As a frustrated ECU alum, we finally got rid of a bad coach (Scottie Montgomery) Nate Harvey is a really, really good player, he’s an OLB in a 3-4 defense in the NFL and waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than a sixth or seventh round talent……Nate can play, been watching most of our games for way too long, I really like this kid!

Whatever you say Tom. Sounds good to me.

    @defense Rules.
You are spot on. Licht may even trade up to get him in the 2nd.

    Slow news day?

This kid is meh. 6’1″, 225? A video against Old Somebody? Really? Where on numerous plays he just got swallowed up by a slug OT?

    Maybe camp meat.

  9. 813bucboi Says:

he looks like he has decent power for his size…..if bowles feels he can do something with him, pull the trigger…..

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  10. TOM EDRINGTON Says:

@Cobraboy: He’s an OLB in a 3-4, not a DE, he’s better than a lot of LBs I’ve seen on the Bucs roster the past three years

Can he hold kicks like Ron Holiday? If so take him at 5!
