Team Glazer Reacts
January 8th, 2019Bruce Arians is one of the NFL’s most well-respected coaches over the past two decades and we are excited to have him leading our team. Throughout this process, we focused on finding the right coach with a proven ability to elevate our players and lead our team forward. Bruce has played a large role in the development and career success of some of our league’s best players and we look forward to seeing him continue that work here with our franchise. — Buccaneers Owner/Co-Chairman Bryan Glazer.

January 8th, 2019 at 9:25 pm
Hell yeah. This is 2 years in the making for me. And didn’t need that basement urgent care
Surely a dream come true for me and a great day for Bucs fans
January 8th, 2019 at 9:27 pm
who is in charge of personnel?
January 8th, 2019 at 9:27 pm
Think they didn’t do their homewok? That release from Bryan Glazer was classy and says it all…This is going to be a GREAT time to be a Buc’s fan….. Thanks Buc’s
January 8th, 2019 at 9:30 pm
Mr and Mr Glazer,
Thank you and please stay out of the way.
January 8th, 2019 at 9:34 pm
A lot of fans wanted Licht gone, but this hire doesn’t happen without him. That said, there’s a lot riding on Licht and how he handles this draft and how quickly this new coaching staff can develop this underachieving roster. The Glazers have proven that they indeed care about winning. Let’s just hope they’ve done their due diligence this time around and have made the best hire. GO BUCS!
January 8th, 2019 at 9:34 pm
Well done boys. First step down but still a long way to the postseason. Go Bucs!

I think we hired the best coach available (without a job) this offseason.
When does that ever happen?!
I hope Bruce is eager to turn this franchise around and doesn’t just need some extra retirement money like Lovie.
I really feel good about this!
Go Bucs!!
January 8th, 2019 at 9:39 pm
BA about to “ whip somebody’s ass”!! In spite of the good for nothing glazer boys the bucs finally have a real football coach.
January 8th, 2019 at 9:40 pm
Does this defense moving to a 3-4 get a make over the likes of Jacksonville last season and L.A. this season? Very happy with this move!
January 8th, 2019 at 9:43 pm
This is gr8 news! Go Bucs!
January 8th, 2019 at 9:52 pm
words are meaningless coming from any one of those incompetent fool glazers. you can’t be this bad for this long without trying to be bad…. they have lost the benefit of the doubt. until they earn it on the field on Sundays consistently there is nothing to see here or get excited about. garbage franchises don’t change their spots because of one hire of a senior regardless of qualifications.
January 8th, 2019 at 9:54 pm
Kudos to JBF for breaking the story the “real” journalist couldn’t. Now there trying to piggy bag on a great job by you guys. F&@$ing losers!!!

New day, new team, new regime.

January 8th, 2019 at 10:03 pm
Just think…had they fired Koetter last year, we would not have gotten Arians.
January 8th, 2019 at 10:03 pm
I like the part where he says : “the right coach with the proven ability to ELEVATE OUR PLAYERS” !!!!!’ That element has been sorely missed around here. Which players, other thanMike Evans, can we truthfully say has improved since they came Here?
January 8th, 2019 at 10:04 pm
Buccin gator you are spot on. Agree on it all. Love the hire and excited to see where this franchise is heading!
January 8th, 2019 at 10:05 pm
Hey Tmax, for years I have agreed with many of your comments, but for one-day at least please give the slamming of the ownership a rest. Today’s a great day for the the city, Bucs’ players, fans, media and yes, even ownership.
Welcome Coach Arias!
January 8th, 2019 at 10:07 pm
Don’t screw this up Glazers.
The players ….have to know….. that Arrians and Licht have absolute
authority and that ANY decision they make will not ever be questioned
by you guys.
Then you create an environment where success can blossom.

Please remind me how many wins brucey has with bucs?
January 8th, 2019 at 10:13 pm
Gotta give the Glazers a tip of the hat…they wanted to make a “splash” hire…done, they wanted to get the search wrapped up and announced by today…done. No getting jilted at the alter this time, it appears they moved quickly and decisively to land the big fish.
January 8th, 2019 at 10:14 pm
Pleased with the hire….was ready to dump my season tickets after 40 years if I wasn’t….going to stick it out another year at least. Go Bucs
January 8th, 2019 at 10:15 pm
Cal
To be clear i am not disappointed in the hire that being said I don’t believe any combination past or present can over compensate for these pathetic owners who are simultaneous failing on two continents…

*Arians
January 8th, 2019 at 10:24 pm
Arians will get players in like JPP who respect the game and understand its a privilege not a right to play in the NFL. He’s well respected and known for a strong locker room. Look at the Eagles heart. It can be done with the right leader and the right coach. And I have a feeling he will have final say on the draft and free agency.
January 8th, 2019 at 10:30 pm
Why did we bend and give them a 6th rounder. They should of fought this. No reason to do it even if it seems miniscule with it being a late round pick. The league gave us the ok. Unless they were worried about things getting out about them knowing several weeks ago Arians was the hire. Just dont get it.

This is a great hire no doubt. Him bringing along Bowles makes to run just the defense is highly beneficial as well.
But these are just 2 steps. We still have to…
1. Fix the O-line
2. Fix the secondary
3. Add 2 pass rushers, one to inevitably replace JPP and one to play alongside he and Carl Nassib
4. Replace Gerald McCoy
5. Find Lavonte David’s inevitable replacement and a back up MLB that actually has the ability to play in the league unlike Joe Dirt
6. Fix the running game as a whole. Lev Bell anyone?
7. Cut MJ Stewart
8. Cut Chris Conte
9. Cut Desean Jackson
10. Have a successful draft instead of passing up on game changing rookies like Kerryon Johnson and Donte Jackson.
Then maybe we could actually sniff a playoff berth.

This is an exciting time to be a Bucs fan. I can’t wait to see what the team does in free agency and the draft. I’m hoping for a better overall class of incoming players compared to 2018, which had a few gems (JPP, Vita, Whitehead) and some first year flops (Ronald Jones, MJ Stewart).
Good job on your report too, Joes, nailing the date of the hire. Looking forward to getting this offseason started.
January 8th, 2019 at 10:38 pm
This is a consensus good pick…..overwhelming positive…..more than most any other candidate would receive.
I like that he has his staff pretty much already assembled and ready to work for him…..they respect him and he is loyal to them…..a good partnership.
January 8th, 2019 at 10:40 pm
Dangit. Do me a favor and delete one of those comments Joe Lol

January 8th, 2019 at 11:33 pm
TMax, I hear you and you’re absolutely agree, they certainly don’t get a clean slate by the hire. Still, it’s a great day that gives us Bucs fans a much needed dose of good news and hope that better days are ahead. So for a night at least, I can even say for once to the boys at the top, job well done.
January 8th, 2019 at 11:45 pm
@swiftybuc, your cut MJ is not bright. Hes a similar player to Ronde was with Ronde’s rookie season. You would be a idiot to cut him. 2nd its Trade Gerald, or make him take a pay cut. If hes a leader and wants to be here he will play for 7.5 million. Another, Lavonte David’s replacement? The dude is ballin, and he is 28. He easily has 5 years of speed in those legs, and all pro play. Another, have a successful draft? Let’s just look at our top 3 picks from 2018 and 2017, 2018 Vita, Jones(big question mark, but think it was best on thier board), Carlton Davis III this kid will turn into a freak in Bowles press man coverage. Now 2017 OJ Howard need I say more, Justin Evan’s will be ball hawk with bowles, and Chris Godwin. So 5 of 6 are starters. That’s bad drafting? O-line can be fixed easy, pay Donavon Smith move him to RT, Draft William’s out of Alabama, Bring in Mike Lupeti G from Arizona, Hes a BA guy, 31 years old wont demand more than 4.5 to 5 million.
January 8th, 2019 at 11:59 pm
Bring in competition for Winston.
January 9th, 2019 at 12:30 am
Good luck making Magoo a franchise quarterback. If you can Coach Arians, I really welcome a winner.
January 9th, 2019 at 2:30 am
Think alot of people said same thing about Palmer and Roethlisberger, yeah I really shake my head at 2 comments above me.

@BigPoppaBuc … “A lot of fans wanted Licht gone, but this hire doesn’t happen without him.”
LMAO. Like most, I’m excited about the Glazer Boyz hiring Bruce Arians to be our coach, but perhaps not for the same reason you are BigPoppa. I don’t personally give Licht credit for BA coming here like you do; BA & Jason were only at Arizona for 1 year together, and Licht wasn’t the GM. No, Bruce Arians came here IMO for his own reasons, not because he was ‘enticed’ by the Glazers & Jason Licht (it’s interesting to me that the other franchise he was considering coming out of RETIREMENT for was Cleveland, a team not dissimilar to the Bucs).
@Duthsty Rhothdes … “who is in charge of personnel?
@Buccin-gator … “And I have a feeling he (Arians) will have final say on the draft and free agency.”
And Duststy, Buccin-gator answered your question IMO. Bucs have been floundering; a team with no clear ‘vision’ and identity in recent years about who it wants to be when it grows up (didn’t used to be the case; we were DEFENSE FIRST for most of our BC existence … Before Chucky that is). Hiring Arians implies to me that the Glazers FINALLY recognized our key REAL problem & took the first step towards fixing that.
Bruce Arians, an experienced winning coach, took this ‘challenge’ I’d be willing to bet because he sees what’s been going on with the Bucs AND because he knows he can FIX IT relatively quickly (say 2 years). My gut tells me BRUCE IS NOW IN CHARGE … PERIOD. And THAT’S what has me excited. We FINALLY have an adult in the room to provide this team a clear direction. Now the hard work begins … turning PROMISE into REALITY.

Joe, I’m curious about something. Every one of my comments has been going straight to moderation lately, but then they’ve all been showing up later. No bad language or anything like that (I hope), so I’m kind of at a loss to understand why. Certain others seem to have had similar things happen too. Care to share any reasons why?
