Speculation Pro Bowl Comes To Tampa
January 28th, 2019Exciting news coming out of Orlando this weekend.
Well, it’s exciting if you prefer all forms of professional football above everything else.
Longtime Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi was sniffing around NFL officials at Disney World and Pro Bowl festivities last week and walked away with a sense the game will leave Orlando after three rough weather years in a row.
The game was a total washout at the Citrus Bowl yesterday afternoon and it was not sold out. Last year, heavy rain drenched the afternoon game. And in 2017, it was played at night before a sold out crowd with temperatures in the 40s, which was not ideal.
Bianchi wrote the Pro Bowl could be moved to Super Bowl sites the next two years, which just happen to be South Florida and Tampa.
What a coup that would be for the Tampa Bay, and Joe thinks local fans would do a great job supporting the game.
Also, Joe could totally see Vince McMahon and the Tampa XFL franchise (arriving just one year!) totally staging a unique event to somewhat upstage the 2021 Pro Bowl leading up to the Super Bowl the following week.
That would be fun — or annoying if the Bucs are heading to the title game on their home turf.

It would be coming back to Tampa. I vaguely remember going to a probowl here about 40 years ago. It should just be a award and maybe a skills competition or something like that. The game is getting ridiculous.

Does that mean that the Bucs will have to give up another home game in 2020????? Mexico, New Zealand, does it matter???????? If only the higher ups worked towards winning on the field in the same way as advertising and hosting, then we would have had something in our beloved Tampa Bay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2019 season will reveal answers to the sheep that the “real” fans already know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had tickets but weather kept me in the warm and dry comfort of my own home.
Footage of the skills competitions at Wide World of Sports looked to have good fan turnout. Really sucks that weather was so horrible on gameday.
Plenty of keyboard warriors hating on Orlando and it being the reason nobody went to the game, but similar to Tampa, if the game was in a domed arena…..
Glad ME13 was included in a ‘highlight’.
Anybody have a decent link to pick up a Mike Evans Pro Bowl jersey?? NFL Shop did him dirty and there hasn’t been a link since he was announced to go…

It would be more interesting if the players coached pick up teams of NFL media “journalist”….

NO NO NO, players don’t want to come to Tampa or Orlando. Just put it back in Hawaii.

Tampa has seen plenty of crap football. It would fit right in

LOL!
It was raining in Tampa during the game too!

Big fat softie Gerald McCoy played about as soft all year as every D-lineman did in the Pro Bowl game
Big fat softie McCoy plays every game like it’s a pro bowl game

If they truly want to expand the game….why not send it to London like they do with all the preseason games. It has ZERO value to American football fans that view it as a mockery of real football.

let’em play the PB in london instead of taking 1 of our home games!!!!!!
#REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!!

The Pro Bowl is a joke. As far as I’m concerned the way players played they should get rid of it altogether. Flag football anyone?

Well…we are used to hosting meaningless games at Ray Jay in November and December…why not January?

Moving it to the Superbowl site is a good idea. Have it kick off Superbowl week. At least you might get some attendance.
