Setting Defense Up For Decade

January 25th, 2019

Defensive fixture

Joe can see how the NFL is going. It’s pass, pass, pass and pass some more.

Who is doing the passing? It’s not a guard or a tackle or a running back. It’s the quarterback. So what’s the best way to stop an offense now and in the future? Stop the quarterback.

How? Not with a cornerback. The way the zebras call tight defense, just breathing on receivers draws a flag. And without a pass rush even Deion Sanders would have trouble with some receivers.

Joe is adamant that the Bucs go out and get a pass rusher. If a guy can’t get a sack, or even a quarterback hit, he might force a quarterback into a rushed throw and get it tipped or incomplete or even better, picked.

And of course, with a sack, there’s always a chance at a fumble.

Dane Brugler, draft analyst for The Athletic believes if a team in April’s draft cannot get Nick Bosa, the next-best pass rusher is Kentucky’s Josh Allen.

The 2019 class of pass rushers is loaded at the top, starting with Ohio State’s Nick Bosa, who is the favorite to be the No. 1 pick in the draft. But we could see more than a half dozen edge rushers drafted in the first 15-20 picks — both because it is a premium position and the talent warrants early consideration.

After Bosa, there isn’t a consensus No. 2 edge rusher, but most have Kentucky’s Josh Allen at that spot, including me.

Joe loves Jason Pierre-Paul but he won’t be around much longer. JPP is 30 and his contract is up after the 2020 season. Without JPP, the Bucs won’t have any edge rush to speak of.

For way too long the Bucs could not find a pass rush. That was finally solved when Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht traded for JPP. By drafting Allen, a versatile defender who can play in a 34 or 43 defense, it will set up the Bucs to have a strong edge rusher, the most important position on defense in the 21st century, for at least the next decade.

  1. SOEbuc Says:

He would be sick. Defense is a top priority, but finding defensive depth in FA is also a top priority. Year after year this team is stacked with injuries on defense and are replaced by sh!tty late round picks these Bucs teams have picked up over the years. Good vet depth.

  2. bwest16091956@yahoo.com Says:

Would be a very good pick, motor never stop running.

  3. 813bucboi Says:

allen is nice….watched a ton of him being an SEC and gator fan…..noah spence has made me a little scared of these type players….i remember when spence was drafted he was considered the best pure pass rusher….and then smitty and poor coaching happened…..

imo, we have to find GMC’s replacement 1st…..i would pick q.williams or ed oliver before josh allen…..imo, he’s more of an 34OLB….similar to spence…..

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  4. Jonzey Says:

    I like Allen

  5. AlteredEgo Says:

I think it was the Rams in the playoffs this year, 2 weeks ago, that went with lighter faster players behind the DL, not the typical LB’s…I think that will be the trend in coming years….which in turn will bring back the power running game to counteract ….

  6. Joe in Michigan Says:

Watching a video of Lee Roy Selmon, https://youtu.be/JnQeCkgjsU, has got me pining for a great Tampa Bay pass rush again. Let’s not miss this opportunity, not saying the next Lee Roy Selmon and Simeon Rice are in the 2019 Draft, but there are some pass rushers with potential. Inside pressure is good, too.

  7. AlteredEgo Says:

Universal Draft Truth…why is it that every year the players you covet are always ranked and taken just ahead of your teams pick ?

  8. teacherman777 Says:

    We MUST trade back again!

MJ Stewart: 4.6 BUST (maybe a SS /special teamer but NOT a CB#2)

Ronald Jones: 180 pound BUST: Cant catch, cant block, and cant break tackles.

    ASJ: BUST
    Noah Spence: BUST
    Aguayo: BUST
Donovan Smith: won’t be resigned, therefore wasted pick (should have kept Penn)

So, 6, yes SIX, lost 2nd rounders!

Why the F would Licht draft Jones and Stewart? Why!!???

So, we must recover 3, yes THREE extra second round picks this year.

    Trade back 2-3 times!

We need a DE, a DT, a RG, a RB, a LT, and a RG.

We have Jordan Whitehead and Justin Evans (toe issue)

Jordan Whitehead hits hard, but hes small. How long until he hurts his shoulder?

    Tyranne Mathieu played for Arians.

He would be a great nickle/safety for us a la Robde Barber. Cover, tackle, blitz.

CB? We must go into the season with Hargreaves and Davis as our starters.

We just cant afford to draft another CB this year. Licht fukked it ip last year.

A new rule for CB’s—4.4 or less!

    1. Jonathan Banks: 4.6
    2. Leonard Johnson: 4.7
    3. MJ Stewart: 4.56
    4. Carlton Davis: 4.56
    5. Ryan Smith: 4.55
    6. Hargreaves: 4.50

    When will we learn?????

  9. Playaction Says:

Allen would be great, but he won’t be there at #5.

I would like Greedy Williams, but Rock ya will still be there in the 2nd round or later.

Tighten up the defensive line and that will set them up for years to come.

  10. Gruden4President Says:

Reminds me alot of Simeon Rice the way he bends around edge and uses his long reach to slap the ball out of the QB’s hand. Unfortunately i doubt he will be there @5

  11. Stanglassman Says:

The lowest I’ve seen him taken in the latest mocks is 4 to The Raiders. He seems to be only moving up. Stranger things could happen but I’m tied of falling in love with the top 3 guys knowing you draft outside that range.

  12. Buccernutter Says:

I posted a poll on Facebook in a bucs group to see who wanted who with the first pick. There were 200 votes and I was the only one that picked Josh Allen. Keep in mind bosa wasnt in the ballot. Most wanted Jonah and greedy.

Give me Allen all day. Then Jonah.

  13. firethecannons Says:

I think 813bucboy is right and hopefully Spence can get coached up better or something but I thought Buckner was good at that. I would pick Q.Williams also and look for defensive ends later throughout the draft. Honestly we need to trade down a few spots as we really need o-line also and that sounds like BA’s priority. Joe is right too that DT and DE are more important positions by far than CB.

  14. 813bucboi Says:

    teacherman

    i wouldnt mind trading back….

but you cant call MJ and rojo bust after their rookie season in which the coach was on the hot seat since last year….lol….dirk needed wins….he didnt have time to develop players unfortunately…..and when given time to develop players other than pass catchers, he was unsuccessful….

imo, we’ll see a major jump in production from players like MJ and rojo as well as winston and VHG simply because of better coaching and better schemes…..

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  15. Buccernutter Says:

I wouldn’t bank on rojo being a bust. Dirk said he didn’t like rookie rbs. Not to mention when he went in for 1 or 2 plays a game, defense knew it was a run. Plus he was pulled immediately. A full offseason of training and more faith in him will work wonders.

  16. Hodad Says:

It’s a passing league so you better protect the Q.B. also. D. Smith has shown he can’t do that on a regular basis, and has penalties at the worst time. Add the fact you might have to pay him over 10 million, draft J. Williams from Bama.

  17. Pryda..sec147 Says:

I can see Gruden grabbing a QB

  18. 813bucboi Says:

we should be looking at martez ivey the LT blocking josh allen in the picture above…..not a first rounder but definitely no later than the 4th round pick….he’s played a ton of football and held his own against good competition….took a big step forward with the new staff in place at UF…..

his stock will rise at the combine….

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  19. catcard202 Says:

    813, I’m in the 502 & have watched both Spence & J.Allen up close.

Spence is a legit NFL 3-4 OLB, that has been miscast in the Bucs 4-3 D…Bucs have had him playing 15lbs heavy & step slower than when drafted… EKU used in him in much the same way that UK used J.Allen (as a senior- Buck LB)- & rarely with his hand in the dirt….Only Spence doesn’t have the coverage skills or length that J.Allen brings to the table. Both can bend & attack the pocket, Allen can cover a TE/RB & devastate WR’s on the quick screen with split-second play recognition.

J.Allen is the best Buck LB in this draft class…Josh Allen had a more dominant SEC performance, than JaDaveon Clowney’s 2012 season – when he went #1 to the Texans…Spence would likely come off the board in the 3rd round this year, w/ the maturity-off field concerns coming out of college factored in.

Allen has no off field baggage, maturity beyond his years & interval drive-work ethic GM’s covet…Top 5 talent… If combine goes as planned – doubt he makes it to #5…Lynch is no fool in SF, Jets are a natural fit & all of us know Chucky will go 6-Midnight 30secs into his tape…Which would likely put Oliver or Sweat in play…(Don’t sleep on Sweat from MissState..He’s a JaDaveon Clowney like athletic freak too…He’ll jump/run better than Allen & has all the traits your looking for…Just doesn’t have as dominant 2018 tape.)

  20. Smashsquatch Says:

Awesome motor, he’d fit nicely in Bowles scheme. He might fall in our lap if a team or two trades up for a QB.

  21. ncbucsfan Says:

Trade back with a QB needy team. The Giants and Jags pick at #6 & #7 respectively. The Jags (7), Broncos (10), Dolphins (13), and Redskins (15) could all be in the market for a QB. We need multiple holes filled. I’d look to trade back to #7 or #10 and draft a pass-rusher. Montez Sweat (Edge) or Jachai Polite (Edge) should be there. I’d also consider another stout defensive lineman if we cut McCoy, perhaps Ed Oliver or Jeffrey Simmons (Miss St), who looks ALOT like Darnell Dockett did for the Cardinals under Bruce A/Todd Bowles. There is Oline depth in this draft so we need to invest there. I like Rock Ya-Sin ALOT as well to play CB. Awesome press-man skills he is displaying at the Senior Bowl. Maybe he slips to the 3rd but we may need to get him in the 2nd. Hopefully McCoy takes a pay-cut and stays….which would change my perspective slightly.

  22. BuccaNEAR DOMINATION Says:

Teacherman may need to reverse roles and become the student as he needs to do more research/studying before posting. At the combine, Vernon Hargreaves III ran a recorded 4.41 and 4.43 forty yard dash. Rendering a 4.42 average, which is almost a tenth of a second faster than you say. Oh yea but that doesn’t fit your narrative…

  23. Bucs Guy Says:

Alteredego’s universal truth is absolutely correct. Joe Thomas, Calvin Johnson come to mind.

I would love for the Bucs to take Bosa, Q. Williams, Allen or . I’m afraid they gone by the 4th pick. Stay away from Oliver — he’s a head case. So, Bucs should trade back to #7 with Jacksonville and get their 2nd or 3rd round pick. I believe Giants and Jags both go QB so you could still get who you want from there like an Edge or DT (assuming GMC is gone) or LT (assuming D. Smith is gone). Maybe Gary or someone from Clemson’s D-line. 2nd round must be a Guard or Tackle if we go Defense in the 1st round.

Needless to say FA will greatly impact the holes we need to fill.

  24. Bucs Guy Says:

ROJO is a bust and exactly what we knew he would be coming out of college. Get a RB in FA and another in late round or next year.

  25. ncbucsfan Says:

Catcard 202…..I totally agree with the Noah Spence assessment. I think he will be utilized much better under Bowles, huntimg the QB

  26. Bucsfanman Says:

813- It’s a tough position to be in when you consider that we need OL, DE, and DT (among other things!). We could probably get by without drafting a DE, but there’s no way we can pass on a DT or OL in the top rounds of this draft.
If the RIGHT player for the Bucs is not on the board at #5, trade down. It’s not where you pick, it’s WHO you pick.

  27. ncbucsfan Says:

Bucs Guy….I’d love to get Rashaan Gary also to play in Bowles 1-gap scheme. And yes, if we go defense in the 1st, go o-line in the 2nd, maybe 3rd as well if we address the secondary in free agency.

  28. 813bucboi Says:

    catcard202

i agree….i put josh allen and jachi polite in the same boat….both are BUCK LB’s not traditional DE’s….m. sweat is a player to watch as well….i like him….

    your spot on….

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  29. Owlykat Says:

Bucs number one pick has to be LT!

  30. 813bucboi Says:

    bucsfanman

your right…its a tough spot to be in….

imo, i think we should draft DT in the 1st round whether its at #5 or we trade down….at #5 q.williams or ed oliver….if we trade down j.simmons, dexter lawerance…..

    draft OL in rounds 2 & 4…..

i would like the bucs to try to restructure GMC and sign FA frank clark or demarcus lawerance…..

    JPP/Vita/QW or EO/FC or DL….as the starters….nassib/GMC/BA/VC as back ups…..

but i agree, we could probably get by without drafting a DE high but we have to get DT/OL in the 1st round….

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  31. Buccernutter Says:

Dude said GMC as a backup. 😂

  32. SOEbuc Says:

Teacherman777 who was calling out Stewart to be a #2 CB when he was drafted??? He’s a rookie for goodness sake that’s had some injury issues this year. How you gonna mark him as bust??? You’re calling out Jordan Whitehead for future injuries that may occur??? Are you serious???

  33. 813bucboi Says:

idk about jonah williams….didnt really see him dominate thru the regular season at bama…..with that said, i didnt really see him get exposed during the regular as well…..

but the thing thats sticking out to me is him getting abused by the clemson DE’s…..they beat him with speed and power….

since that game, ive seen his stock dip a little bit and some scout suggesting he’s better suited for G….

    idk…..

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  34. Buccernutter Says:

Ya clelin ragdolled Jonah badly in the ship. He’ll be solid I bet but give me Allen, qw, or a trade down first.

  35. SOEbuc Says:

    813bucboi

I dunno. I would like to trade back also seeing as we have so many holes all together, but I’d say that top seven projected is primo stuff.

  36. Defense Rules Says:

Spence is a situational player, nothing more. RoJo, at best, is a situational player, nothing more. At this moment in time, Bus have NO LT … zip, zero, zilch. If we sign one in FA, kiss off $15 mil per year, money that we don’t have right now. Our only recourse is to draft one … VERY HIGH for an immediate starter. PRIOITY ONE. We can survive with our current DLine (prefer not to, but we COULD) but we can’t survive without a starting MLB & starting outside corner to replace Grimes. Prefer quality FAs at BOTH positions, but again, refer back to crappy salary CAP situation.

  37. 813bucboi Says:

    nutter

    whats wrong with that?….

he could begin the season as a starter until the rookie DT gets use to the speed of the game or in case of injury just like what happened to vita…..by week5 or 6, GMC should be coming off the bench…..his production already equals being a back up imo….if he restructures to lets say, 3years 18mil his pay would equal being a back up as well…..

maybe a better word wouldve been DEPTH….

if GMC is our #3 DT by week 5 or 6, that would mean our rookie DT is flourishing and licht did his job…..

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  38. SOEbuc Says:

    813bucboi

    “idk about jonah williams.”

I’m all for giving Leidtke the shot. That guy was straight up shut down through training camp and preseason last year. Blew up against the Titans in game 3 preseason with %85 snaps. Had great film from TC last year. Made JPP look like a beyotch a couple times.

  39. Buccernutter Says:

I mean that’s a solid plan and all but GMC will not stay to be a backup by the end of the year. Dude may still want 10+ and then he’s gone.

The only way that would work if he accepts a restructured deal and ultimately loses his starting job to a flourishing rookie. Which is highly unlikely. Look at vea.

    It’s just not gonna happen.

  40. Darin Says:

I like him over Bosa at this point. If he is there at 5 its a no doubter

  41. 813bucboi Says:

    SOE

i would welcome a trade down…..i agree, we have too many holes to fill mainly depth imo….

but if licht and bruce really like a DT/OL @ #5 i wouldnt be mad if they pulled the trigger…..

i’d be pissed if they picked greedy or devin white at #5…..

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  46. 813bucboi Says:

    nutter

    bucs have all the leverage…..

and maybe drafting another DT in the first round would light a fire in him and he plays like a mad man….

this staff doesnt seem like the type of staff that will just give a player something just because they’re a veteran…..if GMC produced 10 sacks this year, no one would have a problem paying him 13mil…..but his production has declined…..

he could stay the starter just as long as its not at 13 mil….lol….that may work out better….give the rookie time to develop…..and if GMC or vita get injured a 1st rounder is coming in replacing them….

imo, i think GMC restructures because he only has 2-3 more years left….GMC wants to retire a buc weather he gets a ring or not

  49. LUVMYBUCS Says:

In a zone blocking scheme sure. But if he can clean up a few things (good coaching).
He could potentially be a serviceable tackle at the next level.

  53. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    Bucsfanman

    I appreciate the shoutout bredren.

  54. Buccernutter Says:

I mean I agree with that but it depends on if McCoy still thinks he can get baller money and if he prioritizes it.

Ultimately he may decide between more money which I bet someone wants to give him or if he loves the organization but he does not deserve more than 8 from us. Period.

But he’d be an excellent rotation. I just wouldn’t peg him as a backup. I don’t think anyone will. At least immediately.

    Plus I want nassib starting.

Vea McCoy jpp nassib with curry an improved Spence and Williams or Allen rotating is sounding real nice. But I want a de. Badly

  55. ManzielMadness Says:

I’m on fully on the Q. Williams/J. Allen train… which probably means they wont be there lol

  56. 813bucboi Says:

    nutter

your right….back up was the wrong word to use…..shouldve used depth or rotation….

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  57. JimmyJack Says:

The Top End Passrushers supposted to be very special players. The mockers are predicting the Jets to get a Passrushers despite bigger needs…….That’s how good this class is.

Meanwhile the Bucs need a lot of help on defense. We are also overhauling our scheme and will need new players to run in. We also have no youth the speak of(VitaV) on our DL/LB.

This will be the easiest pick the Buccaneers have ever made.

  58. 813bucboi Says:

    LUV

    would #25, #28 and #66 equal our #5 pick?…..2 1st and a 3rd…..

i see gruden getting a QB in the first round and then maybe trading Carr for picks….maybe to a team like the dolphins, broncos, redskins…..

whats a good trade compensation for our #5 pick?

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  59. JimmyJack Says:

There might be 4 Passrushers taken ahead of us and get get the 5th.

That’s how good this class is!!! It’s just what the doctor ordered too.

Our best scenario might be to see 2 QBs taken Top 4. If that happens we got a real shot at getting a Bosa or a Allen.

I’m also starting to think we should entertain no trades whatsoever. It’s a awful idea to pass on a game-changing player at 5. Extra choices are nice but getting that ‘one guy’ is better, and it’s not even close……….That’s why we traded last year. Denver wasn’t stupid enough to pass up Chubb.

  60. 813bucboi Says:

    jimmyjack

you just said easy and the bucs in the same sentence…lol….you know that dont go together….lol….

i disagree….this will be the hardest pick….it’ll dictate how we finish out the draft….screw up round1 and the rest of the draft may be screwed…..

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  61. JimmyJack Says:

813……I just can’t see what case you can make to pass up on a Passrushers this year.

It would be different if there were a guy getting touted as a top 3 guy at a different position that wasn’t a Passrusher but there isn’t.

It just seems so easy to me. They gotta build the entire defense. What better way to start? At same time you get BPA too. It’s perfect.

  62. JimmyJack Says:

Get me a TE in round 5 too please.

  63. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    813bucboi

So much for the last game of 2017 meaning something huh? lol

But seriously though – I don’t see Mayock/Gruden giving up that kind of draft capital to move-up. Especially with all the wholes, they’ve got on their roster.

  64. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    JJ

Keep an eye out for CJ Conrad Kentucky

  65. Rod Munch Says:

As Dungy preached, you build your defense from the line, backwards. Nothing controversial there, except Licht didn’t do that.

As for a edge rusher… I don’t know, the Bucs haven’t had much luck with tweeners. If you take a tweener in the top 5, wow, you had best make sure he’s an elite tweener.

  66. Pickgrin Says:

Would love to have this Ky Wildcat – and you don’t hear that nearly as often about football players as basketball.

I think that OLine needs to be the priority though in the first rd if the right player is there.

Either way – DL and OL should constitute Licht’s first 4 picks this year.

“Fix” the Oline, bolster the Dline – and this Bucs team with BA at the helm will be eating a lot of Ws in 2019.

“Here are three combine takeaways from Miami’s perspective:

No. 1: Vernon Hargreaves’ 40 time not a concern

Analysis: The Florida cornerback didn’t have an ideal week at the combine. He ran the 40 in 4.5 seconds, which was slower than expected, and height remains a primary concern. Hargreaves measured in 5-10 1/2, which is smallish for the NFL level. Does this speed-and-size combination worry Miami with the No. 8 overall pick?”

Joe says “The way the zebras call tight defense, just breathing on receivers draws a flag”

Unless you are the LA Rams

  70. JimmyJack Says:

813…..Pretty cool that the top 3 guys each have completely different skill sets. Bosa is an edge guy. Q.Williams is inside and Allen looks most like a 2nd level/LB hybrid.

3 great Passrushers who are nothing alike.

Teacherman, You and I (or at least anyone with decent vision, as you probably are an old fart with bifocals) can see the kid plays faster than his 4.5 official time. That happens to be the slowest time that kid has ever clocked. He was slighted at the combine. All prior clocked times were faster. Give him one more year with a decent coaching staff. As the game slows down for him this next year, he will seem faster. Remember as Joe stated he has only played 8 of the last 32 games.

  72. Ole timer 101 Says:

You need pressure up the middle nowadays. More than edge or they will just screen over the top all day on you. Pressure up the middle force them outside to the edge in today’s nfl

  73. YucsFan Says:

Hard to get excited when we have “pick like a moron “ at the helm ?? All the picks except OJ and Evans haven’t been too good. Go Yucs

  74. Joe in Michigan Says:

Watch the highlights of Rashan Gary: https://youtu.be/dicSQZRh8G4, everyone looks good on their highlight reel, but notice his explosiveness. He’d look good in a attacking defense, if Bosa, Q. Williams, and Allen are off the board. Hoping teams fall in love with this years QB’s and Bosa or Q fall in our laps.

  75. D1 Says:

    Teacherman,

Miami’s answer to should his speed and size be a worry. “It shouldn’t “.

I’m always amazed at the couch draft experts who year after year proclaim a player is too slow because of a 10th of a second difference in a 40 time posted at the combine.
4.42 vs 4.5 only matters to the “at home experts” .

While 40 time is important, there’s 2 other combine measures that are more important .
4.5 for a DB is fast enough.

Vernon Hargreaves was not worth a 1st round pick.

And Im young playboy. And I see a CB that hates tackling. I see a CB that hasnt gotten stronger since he arrived. A CB that celebrates and dances for doing nothing.

VHIII is injury prone because he doesnt work out enough. He sucks because he doesnt watch film.

Did you see how he hurt his shoulder? No contact!

I called for Donte Jackson and Perry Nickerson last offseason.

    Both are 4.3 guys.

In todays NFL, you need sub 4.4 CBs.

We havent drafted a sub 4.5 CB in forever!

Thats why we have had the worst secondary for years!

  77. Jason S. Mclaurin Says:

The pass rush isn’t the problem. It’s the overall aggressive nature that has been missing and Gerald McCoy is probably the reason for it beyond coaching but I feel he can get dog in him after hearing his last press conference trust me if he comes back in Tampa Two for the Bucs he will be Saap for one year of his life. McCoy is tricky because do you keep him and see who he finally is under this coach and staff or let him walk and he possibly do it for someone else because if they move on from McCoy then he will be big time somewhere else trust me hes gonna have a rare fire under him either way I believe that’s why I feel we should just keep him and let the trio of contracts end in 2020. I just feel if we keep everyone and everything that we have now next season for Bruce Arians then we may be Champs. We gotta keep Kwon too. We have the players to get one we just need that coach to light a fire on this team and I predict that’s what happens if everyone stays including Djax. I say keep everyone for at 1 more year and get one. Draft has to be what it is which is future potential not step in guys right away. Draft for talented players always but our organizational standards as media, fans, and ownership alike needs to be tempered on the draft. I say let Beau Allen and Vinny Curry go and give their money to Kwon we would still have money left to resign D. Smith as well too. We need to draft in the trenches. Offensive line and Defensive line I feel we need more toughness next to Vea and JPP and someone who will make McCoy expendable in which making him a luxury going into the final year of his contract. We need more DB in the later rounds I like the two guys from Tampa, Derick Baity and the kid from Penn St. They could become good mid round upgrades for our Special teams and secondary depth for injury prone Hargreaves and Davis. We need some hometown blood.

If you want your all American QB to succeed, you need to protect him. Trade down, pick up your edge rusher in the mid teens and your offensive tackle early round two. If not, pick up a CB in early round two after trading down.
