Mike Evans Has Catching Up To Do
January 27th, 2019UPDATED: 11:48 a.m. – Two years ago, Mike Evans didn’t have a pass thrown his way at the Pro Bowl, his inaugural trip to the game.
There was a specific reason for that. Evans was nursing an injury he didn’t want to discuss and it was a very cold night by Orlando standards. The combination kept Evans being more cheerleader than receiver.
Joe was almost happy about it. Good, no need to get hurt in the meaningless exhibition. But today will be a different story. Evans is healthy and he told Joe he’s looking forward to a making up for that lost action two years ago.
It’s a 3 p.m. kickoff at the old Citrus Bowl and Evans expects to have the rock fired his way in messy, rainy weather. The forecast changed this morning (if you saw different conditions predicted earlier).
Joe will be glued to the action with fingers crossed. Stay safe, Mike!
Speaking of fingers, Evans was mic’d up this week and seemed legitimately surprised and a bit fearful about how hard Russell Wilson throws the football.

Weather forecast looks terrible. 100% chance of rain and 55 degrees

not in Honolulu….I don’t recall what the excuse was but it was probably money….they should move it back or perhaps become part of the international showcasing of the NFL and have the “game” and events in international markets the NFL wants to draw from….Orlando sucks in any weather

Bet it’s not cold and wet in Honolulu, where the game otta be played!
January 27th, 2019 at 10:35 am
…and Wilson is deadly accurate. They’re saying the same thing about Baker Mayfield.
January 27th, 2019 at 12:20 pm
“… how hard Russell Wilson throws the football.”
If I recall correctly, Brett Favre was known for breaking/dislocating a number of fingers himself.

It should be played in Hawaii. Even the players want it there.
January 27th, 2019 at 1:14 pm
Wow Jean I am glad you’re finally starting to realize Jameis is accurate, thanks for bragging about Mayfields accuracy since Jameis actually had a higher comp% this year. Nice work Jean.
January 27th, 2019 at 1:26 pm
Fearful about how hard a quarterback throws the ball? Hahahaha
January 27th, 2019 at 2:08 pm
I saw that play and immediately said:
You gotta catch the ball with your hands Mike.
A 5 year pro who still catches the ball with his body instead of his hands. I honestly hate the Bucs former coaching staff.
Remember when Chris Godwin tried to catch a pass with his chest instead of his hands and the ball bounced off the defenders helmets causing an interception and a loss? Thereβs no excuse for that in the nfl.

Ndog…please don’t confuse completions with accuracy…and I hope you are not counting his Int’s (58) as accuracies π
January 27th, 2019 at 2:28 pm
Tom Brady refuses to even consider playing in the Pro Bowl. He doesn’t play to get in a pro bowl…he plays to get a ring.
And he has plenty of them. Personally, I prefer that;s what our guys do…especially since the Pro Bowl has become biased toward popularity and serves no real purpose.
Now…if they changed it so that the people who make it actually deserve it, remove the popular vote of fans, and give the conferences something to play for (like the winning conference gets extra offensive and defensive roster spots for the year), then I might care more.

No one went to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii the two times I went it was empty by halftime

@Ndog
That was a stretch to connect those dots just to try to get me with a gotcha moment. lol
JW has a lot to prove after year 4 on the books. Baker is in his 1st year. …and there is no comparison with Wilson <— at all
January 27th, 2019 at 4:36 pm
Lmao. I hate Jason Garrett. Such a cry baby and a $hity coach
January 27th, 2019 at 5:18 pm
Evans as a Cornerback? hmmmm
January 27th, 2019 at 5:20 pm
There you go hating those facts again fellas. I love stats cause they prove clueless people like you gents dead wrong. So Altered are you saying Jameis had a better comp% because of all the easy throws he has to make? Please say yes and further cement your complete and utter cluelessness about the game of football.
January 27th, 2019 at 5:34 pm
Mike Evans has been to 2 pro bowls with zero catches. that has to be a record. And he has an int. go figure. lol
January 27th, 2019 at 5:37 pm
Ndog…you must have been a linemen
January 27th, 2019 at 5:49 pm
Ndog
Sure I can throw 10-15 yard passes to Hump and Brate all day and have a great completion percentage but accuracy on deep passes leaves nothing to be desired. Bet if I look it up, which I’m not because I’m lazy today, that Bakers long ball completion percentage is better than Jameis.
January 27th, 2019 at 5:54 pm
…and also may I add, look at who Baker has to throw to compared to what JW has. Jameis has way more A list targets
January 27th, 2019 at 6:32 pm
Only problem Jean, Jameis had a higher average yards per attempt than Baker. Oh boy wrong again!
January 27th, 2019 at 6:46 pm
@Ndog
Too bad our WR’s aren’t all 2ft taller with gorilla length arms then Jameis would be the new GOAT ..He needs to improve <— year 5
January 27th, 2019 at 6:57 pm
Who doesn’t need to improve? Every player needs to improve, but the defense, oline, kicking game, and running game needs to improve way more than our starting QB.
January 27th, 2019 at 6:57 pm
I think we found our big shutdown corner today. ME13CB πππ
January 27th, 2019 at 7:20 pm
Jamies biggest problem is and always has been between his ears
January 27th, 2019 at 7:29 pm
Mike Evans 2 Pro Bowls
0 catches
2 Passes Defensed
1 INT
He contested more catches in an exhibition than most Buc CBβs under Mike Smith
