Miserable Offense

December 17th, 2018

Offense has turned offensive.

How bad was the Bucs offense in the second half today?

Well, it was pretty awful.

At least it wasn’t as bad as last week when the Saints shut them out in the second half. But it wasn’t much better.

The Bucs, of course, scored a grand total of three points in the second half yesterday. It gets darker than that.

The Bucs had four possessions in the second half. In those four possessions the Bucs had three first downs. In two of the four possessions the Bucs never even moved the ball more than five yards.

In total, the Bucs had 57 yards from scrimmage on the two drives they did have a first down. The Bucs had a grand total of 62 yards from scrimmage in the second half.

Time of possession in the second half? Less than 9 minutes.

After these last two games, Joe doesn’t want to hear anyone brag about the offense again.

Good offenses don’t get stuck in a rut in crunch time like this.

They do get stuck when opposing teams know said coach will do the same thing every week without adjusting the game plan

  2. Troy Says:

Dirk’s offense is sad. I’m telling you that my wife was calling out the plays today. What do you think opposing defenses are doing? They know exactly what the Bucs are going to do.

  3. BrianBucs Says:

In the 2nd half of both of those games, the Bucs needed to run the ball and could not. Winston needed to be able to take the team on his back and win those 2 close games, but he could not. The coaching staff needed to be able to counter the adjustment made by the opposing defense, but could not. And the defense needed to help out with field position by getting some stops or turnovers, but they could not.
It was a team loss today.

What happened to America’s QB? Franchise Schmanchize. What a load of crap that term has become today.

  5. ChipBuc Says:

I think our biggest problem on offense is we just don’t have a big play threat at running back, pure and simple. If I have to see the complete non threat Rogers back there on 3rd down one more time I’ll scream. I also think we miss the speed of Jackson and O.J. Howard a lot. They open up the middle of the field more than you know. Team are playing press, and bringing everybody up close to take away the short passes. With no deep speed, and no threat at RB, teams are shutting us down. If I’m wrong just look at the last 2 games. Is it a coincidence that Jackson has been out the last 2 games? I think not. A little deception or misdirection on offense would help. Teams are jumping our routes from watching film. Koetter come up with some ingenuity on offense. Stop being so predictable. Just my 2 cents.

Well then why when the F**K up do you pat them on the head and say its ok. You coddle Winston and it shows, He still can’t lead a receiver on a slant. H throws to where the player is, not where he is going to be. I am surprised we have not had receivers hospitalized. JW is at the bottom of the league in talent and yet “not welcome back Kotter” is still making excuses for him. I am sorry to see that the Rays will be leaving town, cannot say the same about the Buc’s.

    Amen Joe..
The cyber chest pumping about this ‘High powered offense’ is not only laughable but moronic
There’s is no way NO WAY ANYONE could think this is a top 20 let alone top 10 offense ..5-11 will seal the deal next sun and HC GM and I’d lay odds #3 ALL FAILED AND GOTTA GO
THIS SHIP IS ADRIFT IN INEPT UNDERACHIVING CRAP
Scrap it abd let’s start over with the few decent players on either side of the ball and get an NFL that is not An embarrassment

THERE IS NO TRUTH TO THE RUMOR THAT JW WILL BE DECLARING FOR THE NFL DRAFT.

  11. Waterboy Says:

In that type of weather you have to be able to move the ball on the ground and the Bucs have no running game. Lamar Jackson only passed for 131 yds but was able to rush for 95 yds.

  12. Waterboy Says:

Yeah #3 failed today, he has to do a much better job catching the ball to keep drives alive.

  13. adam from ny Says:

dismantle the team top to bottom…if it isn’t one thing it’s another…oh yeah, “it’s a week to week league” as they say…so each week it’s something different…the team is weak…dismantle it…tee to bee

  14. lambchop Says:

I guess Bernard Reedy playing the role of Lamar Jackson really didn’t help. This team is putrid. They need a culture change, 3 new pieces to the OL, at least 2 new pieces to the DL, another complementary RB, offload some dead weight, a lot of help in the secondary, Koetter has to go but I would keep Monken. Monken will be fine if we can get a consistent run game and this will allow Jaymiss some continuity.

We need some veterans as well as draft picks to bring this team up. Tampa has always played a finesse defensive scheme. For once, I’d love to see a Gregg Williams type of smash mouth defense. We don’t have the skill level to rely on finesse.

JW will probably get his extension, but it will only delay the inevitable. We need a good veteran QB to replace Fitz and challenge Jaymiss.

And please don’t draft best available. Draft for need! If Licht is fired, I wouldn’t feel bad. He’s done some good and some bad things here. It’s been a lackluster outcome.

  15. AKickInTheBucNuts Says:

I didn’t watch the game and I knew what plays were being called.

  16. BucEmUp Says:

Joe can you PLEEEEAAASE ask Koetter who was calling plays yesterday at today’s presser? I guarantee Dirk is caking them. Same plays the entire game with no adjusments.now week.in week out. Monken would be changing it up. I’m convinced Koetter is tanking to get fired asap.

  17. Bucsfanman Says:

And, when your defense is on the field for the vast majority of the second half, they got gassed.
    #1 offense!
Why do we go away from the run-game when it’s working? Did anybody else question the 1st down play with an empty backfield and the ensuing interception? Why do teams constantly out-think themselves?
Hey, but we have the #1 offense, right?! JOKE!

  18. Phil Says:

The only reason there was to keep Koetter was because the offense was scoring a lot of points. Now after these last two games the offense is moving backwards and that because of Koetter. No reason to keep him now.

  19. Schlomiebarmitzvahcircumscissorstein Says:

Why are they paid so much???

  20. Bucsfanman Says:

#1 Offense!!!! We expected a roar and got a mew!
    Welcome to Bucs-land!

  21. Fire Light Says:

Fireeee Licht! Can koetter. Whoever says Jameis can’t throw the deep ball he threw the ball 70 yards down the field. Momentum killed by the kicker. Cut Santos… freaking kickers…

  22. 813bucboi Says:

wheres all the “keep dirk because he’s produced the #1 offense” crowd!!!!!

dirk has made yall look stupid weeks in a row now…..dirk will be a wr coach when once he’s canned…..

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!…GO BUCS!!!

He hit Godwin in the hands, in stride, and Godwin should STILL be running. It would have made a huge difference in that game. Unfortunately Chris dropped it. AGAIN.
