Brent Grimes In; Michael Thomas Out
December 5th, 2018Maybe, just maybe, a huge break is coming the Buccaneers’ way.
The New Orleans injury list has the fantasy football world on high alert, but it also has Bucs fans dancing down Gulf Boulevard in St. Pete Beach.
Superstar Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas (91 catches, 1,120 yards and 8 touchdowns this season) did not practice today because of a bad ankle.
Saints beat writer Nick Underhill reported that Thomas was off to the side watching practice during the portion open to media. Thomas has only missed one game in his three seasons, Week 14 of the 2016 season.
Whether Thomas can play Sunday against the Bucs or not, he’s unlikely to be 100 percent, and that’s great news for Tampa Bay. Thomas 16 of 17 targets against the Bucs on opening day for 180 yards and a touchdown.
On the flip side, Bucs cornerback Brent Grimes was full-go in practice today after a banged up knee kept him out of the win against the Panthers last Sunday.
Grimes isn’t the player he used to be, but his return represents a welcome upgrade against a Saints QB who’s significantly better than banged up Cam Newton.
Bring on the Saints!

Not sure Grimes is an upgrade this year, we like Brent, but he has not been the same player, I like the new guys energy
December 5th, 2018 at 9:23 pm
Getting Grimes back is no upgrade. His soft coverage philosophy is garbage, just like his tackling. Put the passionate guys back out, Adams, Harris, Elliot, etc… they are hungry and some times, as seen Sunday, that bodes better than a 35 year old with better “skill” sets.

Fingers crossed
December 5th, 2018 at 9:34 pm
Can we get a return of the DL effort too???
Brezz stands little chance if they show up…
December 5th, 2018 at 9:35 pm
The title made me think Thomas was a no go for Sunday. Joe you always get me.lol. I would love the easy win but a win against a saints team with all there stars would put our name in the dark horse category for the playoffs.

Oh and it would be a great game to unleash the secret weapon!!!

What Brent Grimes are we getting? Can he fit in with this agressive style of defense? I guess it won’t really matter who the DB is if they don’t get pressure on Brees, we will be picked apart.
Dallas got good interior pressure and made Brees uncomfortable and he threw some inaccurate passes. If Drew is relaxed, we get harassed.
Get pressure!
Go BUCS!!

All I want for Christmas is a playoff birth
December 5th, 2018 at 10:06 pm
It doesn’t matter…. The bucs still gonna lose
December 5th, 2018 at 10:07 pm
Wishful thinking but after a 10 day rest since they last played I’d be very surprised to see him sit this one out.
December 5th, 2018 at 10:10 pm
I didn’t realie Grimes had been out. Just move on from him. He’s just collecting a few more paychecks before officially retiring.
December 5th, 2018 at 10:12 pm
come on brent jump a couple routes on brees for old times sake and show these yungry frothing at the mouth d-backs how it’s done…go out like a gee my dude…

Grimes is toast. He’s chasing his last couple NFL game checks before he slides out the door.

What do people get out of the negative comments about my son Brent? Do y’all actually watch FB 🤔. Next year it will be someone else, please go easy on them. I will just be glad when the season is over.
December 6th, 2018 at 4:40 am
Because he is stealing money Mom, that’s why we roast him – he is mailing it in or has completely lost his skill set – which is it?
December 6th, 2018 at 5:00 am
Brent Grimes got his money
December 6th, 2018 at 6:42 am
Hmmmm, sounds a lot like envy to me! Ya’ll hatin’ on a guy because he can do something you CAN’T, play professional football!
Sure, he’s lost a step but I bet he could beat just about any mouth-breathing keyboard warrior that visits these parts.
“Stealing money”?! You would be too………….but you can’t. Wah!
Welcome back Brent! Please shut these “fans” up.

#24 Ageless Warrior dons his breastplate to meet AntMan Brees on the field of battle!! No way Grimes doesn’t get up for this one. Get the TandyMan suited up and I like our chances. Think about it: Buckner’s crew flexin’. Secondary vexin’. I think Drew Brees is in for a legendary a$$whippin’. Oh yeah. JPP will beast, DB’s will feast. Bucs 34 Aints 28.

Great! Pops is coming to pay us a visit from the nursing home!
December 6th, 2018 at 8:19 am
Deborah cracks me up with the “my son” crap! LOL!!! Deborah is probably some dude in Plant Coty living in his moms trailer still! IF and a big IF Deborah is the mom of Pops Grimes what is she doing posting at 130 Am? Hell as old as Grimes is shouldn’t she be like 100? LMAO!!!

screw grimes……let the young guys play…..but knowing dirk, he’ll cater to the vet……

I thought Harris did a nice job last week. 3 passes defensed, and he isn’t a liability in the run game. I love Brent, might be time to hang out on the sidelines and mentor the young guys though.
December 6th, 2018 at 9:11 am
Having any players back from injury is an upgrade at this point.
There are 15 players on the injury report this week! FIFTEEN!!!!
December 6th, 2018 at 9:15 am
Well, there were 15 as of yesterday. Only 9 now, so that is good news.

MJ Stewart is full participation. Davis is still out. Jason Pierre-Paul is out as of yesterday. Dotson is limited…so he’ll probably play (personally I thought we did better without him).

Oops on the bold 🙁

bonzai
JPP will play….we need him and he’ll make an impact….
but i dont want to see dotson or grimes….harris and wester played very well…..
i would be tempted to start letting MJ practice at safety and make that his position….i think he’s a smart player and has good technique but he lacks ideal speed to be a CB or nickle…..
now maybe with better coaching he could be a 3rd or 4th CB but i think his skill set is better suited for safety….

Might be smart of them to not start Thomas. 70% chance of rain with an ankle injury and practically cliched the division.
December 6th, 2018 at 10:41 am
grimes can’t press and CBs getting in WRs faces seems to be a big part of the team’s post-mike smith success. i’m curious whether they will adapt to suit an underperforming player or if they’ll just limit his snaps or assign him to smaller WRs
December 6th, 2018 at 11:11 am
Give De’Vonte Harris some more time at CB. — He has an axe to grind with the Saints, being cut from them earlier this year, and he did a good job last week.
December 6th, 2018 at 12:08 pm
Instant pressure by the DL coupled with very soft coverage by the defense means quick pass and catches all day long. Grimes’ style of coverage really isn’t conducive for anything other than stopping 3rd and long.
December 6th, 2018 at 2:39 pm
@deborah hall
miko?
I love Brent. He is one of the best CB’s of our era. Unbelievable athlete. Ive admired him since his days in ATL.
But- he has definitely been avoiding contact this year. And I dont blame. Hes one of the best of all time.
But we need a badass tough guy like Ronde making tackles, playing on fire.
“I just want to be remembered as a tough guy.- Ronde after his retirement.
December 6th, 2018 at 3:45 pm
Nope that’s bad news for the Bucs secondary having that old liability back out there.
December 6th, 2018 at 5:04 pm
I’m not really sure Grimes makes us better at this point.
He still makes a play here and there but he’s been a big liability more times than not this season. Father time is a d!ck
