Upsetting Statistic
November 23rd, 2018For Bucs fans who read this in the morning, their belt-busting Thanksgiving feast from yesterday may just end up on the floor.
The Bucs lead the NFL in offensive yards per game (458) and passing yards per game (361). Yet the Bucs are dreadful on defense.
But are they that dreadful? Well, yeah, they are awful leading (?) the NFL in points allowed. But one could argue there are two teams with a worse defense.
The Bucs have given up the third-most explosive plays in the NFL, per NFL Films’ BSPN NFL Matchup. The other two? The Chiefs and the Rams — and they are right up there with the Bucs in offensive statistics.
Yet the Rams and the Chiefs are two favored teams to reach the Super Bowl. The Bucs? They are in the running for the Toilet Bowl for the top pick in the draft.
Yeah, Joe wrote it!

The answer you keep asking is an easy one to answer.
The Bucs are terrible, because they have the worst coaching staff in the NFL.

Thanks I have been saying this all season
You won’t win in the NFL, turning the ball over
Especially if you’re not creating turnovers
This is what the Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank had to say last night
“I thought it was pretty obvious tonight: We had a few turnovers, which are always brutal,” Blank said. “To have four of them, it’s nearly impossible to win. And we couldn’t run the ball tonight, couldn’t stop the run. That’s the story of the game.”
Everyone knows turnovers kills, except for Bucs fans
The Bucs has 29 turnovers in their last 9 games

“Every year the most talented rosters make the playoffs. Every year the 12 teams that make the playoffs have the 12 most talent in their roster
You build your talent level thru the draft.
These bottom teams that never sniff the playoffs have the least talent level in their roster. These bottom dwellers wiff in the drafts and dont gather playmaking talent in their rostor. The more talent you draft the more talent you gather to make the playoffs…BUCs constantly dont make the playoffs
Its very simple…
Who is in charge of the draft nd raise the talent”

Kobe,
Every year new teams goes to the playoffs in the NFC
Except for the Bucs

Joe you dig for the stats all week or your buddy from Manhattan sends you a story on how this stat proves yet again that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers suck just as bad as they did this same as they did yesterday….

Alanbucsfan hit it on the head – TURNOVERS! You’ll never win games turning the ball over 3 or 4 times a game.
November 23rd, 2018 at 9:56 am
I have been preaching turnovers all season
Also yards, but not points
This is from a Falcons blog, about last night game
The Falcons managed to move the ball better against the Saints than their 17-point total would suggest, but therein lies the problem.
Points are what matter in the NFL, not yards. The Falcons gained 366 yards on offense against the Saints, close to their season average of 403 yards, but they scored nearly 10 fewer points than they were averaging entering Thursday night.
So what prevented the Falcons from scoring points? The answer in this game is simple: Turnovers.
Only the Bucs fans get off on Yards
And turn a blind eye to the turnovers

The Rams and the Chiefs have good coaches and good Quarterbacks. Tampa has neither. They know how to build teams, Tampa doesn’t. And they don’t have JoeRamsfan or JoeChiefsfan…coincident? I think not.

OH NO! We Suck Again!
November 23rd, 2018 at 10:26 am
A win against the 49ers
The Bucs will be tied for last place in the NFC South
Along side the Falcons, they won’t be alone
At least for a week
November 23rd, 2018 at 10:40 am
9 teams are 3-7 or worse. We can suck this bad and still not get a too 5 pick. RIDICULOUS!!!
November 23rd, 2018 at 10:55 am
Alanbucsfan that explains everything we need to know. Imagine if we were remotely close to the other teams in differentials we would have similar if not be leading for top team in the NFL right now. Especially when most of our losses were by a score. Crazy how in the NFL you can be that close from being really good and bad. Goes to show you why coaching is so important and being great at the little details and that all starts at practice. Hmm…

Why is it teams like the Saints, Panthers, Rams & Steelers draft way lower than the Bucs but still manage to draft better? You give up? LICHT Need I say more?
November 23rd, 2018 at 11:19 am
Tom:
I used to think Licht was pretty good at drafting, but this year I have been convinced he is not good at it.
When he picked Vea over Pro Bowl Safety Derwin James(he is in first place for pro bowl voting right now) I was shocked, but like most Buc fans I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he knew what he was doing.
I think Licht over thinks things some times.
Picking a kicker in the 2nd round and an overweight defensive tackle with no production over Derwin James in the first this year is probably enough reason for the franchise to move on from Licht.

Turnovers is a huge problem. Who touches the ball more than any other player?
The QB
November 23rd, 2018 at 11:23 am
Every fan knows turnovers is a major stat. Another major stat is redzone % for and against. A third major stat is sacks for and against. If you are negative in these 3 places the chances are pretty good you will have a losing reason. All this other stuff is fluff between the 20’s.
November 23rd, 2018 at 11:31 am
@Anonymous
Yes GMs must draft well each year to sustain the talent level
New teams make the playoffs but those 12 every year have the best and total talent level is highest in that specific year
November 23rd, 2018 at 11:57 am
Egregious = outstandingly bad; shocking
How does a 4th year starter with a supposed high football IQ carry the football in his outstretched left hand when he is already past the line of scrimmage at the THREE yard line in his first start back after being benched for committing too many turnovers??? Just one of MANY examples………… yeah, egregious!

And we have the most ignorant starting QB playing this week. I would imagine he is a good 30-40 points less than average starting nfl qb IQ test. And here is where we are every year, out of the playoffs and our clueless QB will pad his stats AND at the same time disillusion the FSU pole smokers into thinking he is an elite QB. All of the excuses for Winston will come in faster than Hurricane Michael….: the D was bad (KC & LA Rams figure out a way to win), OR the coaching is bad (Dallas wins despite Garret), OR our OL sucks (actually our only strength). The reason why we lose is because of the QB play and continual turnovers by Winston. Silver lining: he is a decent fantasy football QB because wins and losses mean nothing in FF. And that sums JW up…he is simply a stat HO

Sorry this premise is dumb.
Sure, explosive plays are very meaningful, but if you don’t get in the end zone who cares?
As always: All that matters is points
Explosive plays, yards, etc., are all meaningless in the bigger picture. All anyone gives a sh!t about is wins, right? And you win by scoring more than your opponent. Simple as that.
