Fire Up The Head Coaching Search

November 5th, 2018

“Jason, we’re not getting caught with our pants down in eight weeks — or wearing that jacket.”

Preparation is critical for good NFL owners.

Let the coaches worry about the day-to-day; the guys who sign the checks need to always consider the big picture.

And today’s big picture means the Buccaneers owners need to be 100 percent prepared to hire a new head coach in 56 short days.

That’s just reality. Dirk Koetter has no answer for his historically awful defense, even after firing his handpicked defensive coordinator. The special teams aren’t special. The offense, while good, is wildly inconsistent. And the most important position on the field is a colossal nightmare.

Barring a football miracle, every thinking person knows exactly how this ends for Koetter.

So while Team Glazer certainly will join Joe in cheering for Bucs victories every Sunday, Team Glazer must make the most out of every damn second when it comes to narrowing the field for their next head coach. Anything less is gross negligence.

Team Glazer should start with demanding Jason Licht have a list of candidates and why, in their email in-boxes tonight. Team Glazer needs to be on the phone with Father Dungy, first forgiving him for recommending Chip Kelly and then asking for his A-list.

Team Glazer also should be tapping all their ownership friends for feedback and more.

Call old friends connected with the NFL and record some vibes. Buy Derrick Brooks a turkey sandwich and get his feedback.

Joe considers today to be the first day of training camp in pads for Team Glazer in their 2019 head coaching search. Any other approach by Team Glazer would be the equivalent to Swaggy Baker taking on a spring practice.

  1. Buc'n Enough Says:

    Joe,

Are you out of your freak’n mind!
There is no way the Glazers allow Jason Licht to have anything to do with the next coaching search…they need to blow the entire thing up!

Have Licht have anything to do with coaching search is ludicrous!

  2. ChanEpic Says:

I’d say the Glazers need to work with Licht and AROUND him. Get the list of coaches while also sending out the head hunters in search of a Pres of football ops who has a winning resume in this league and that Pres of Ops shhould review Licht’s list and make the ultimate hiring decision. I’m sorry for the Licht family but it’s time to move on.

  3. It's a buca life Says:

    Josh McDaniels anyone

  4. SteveK Says:

If the HC goes, then so does the QB with the $20million option, and the GM that assembled this defense and picked the #1 overall pick that didn’t pan out.

  5. DBS Says:

That’s the problem. The Glazers making the decision to begin with! They are not their dad.

  6. SteveK Says:

I’d love to hire Dungy as President and Brooks as Director of Pro Player personal, and bring in an exciting splash at GM to balance it out.

  7. bkgrime Says:

    JOHN HARBAUGH

  8. Pistol Pete Says:

House cleaning coming up. All the money on defense has resulted in the worst D in the league. Licht should have lobbied for new coaches on the defensive side after last season, before the spending spree and the #1 draft choice.
This is, to me, a clear example of a good old boy mentality. Koetter won’t hang Smith out to dry, regardless of the inept performance. Smith won’t can any of the guys under him. Licht won’t do the right thing and talk to ownership about changes at the top.

  9. AlteredEgo Says:

I’ve been saying it has been the talent and not coaching….and that is still true to a large degree…..however sometimes a change must be made and we are rapidly approaching that point…a lot of selfish mental finger pointing is about to explode to actual calling out players….what a physical and mental pile of hot stink…when was the last time you saw a D player lay a lick…they play like it’s a practice tackle…sickening to think the season is over…but it is !…this team does not have “it”…

  10. Mike Johnson Says:

I’ve been saying Koetter and Smitty were wrong for the Bucs ever since their selections. They did not/could not get her done in ATL. Why the hell did the Glazers think they would do so here? I also have lost faith in the Glazers. The old man was the one with the Balls. His sons have avsolutely no clue. There best bet would be to try to hire Tony Dungy as Head of Buc Football Operations and let him take it from there. But yes, its time to clean house. Lets build a Winning franchise here in BucLand. Everybody is tired of the excuses. Lets Go!

  11. Buc believer Says:

The headline should read “Fire up the Head coaching AND the GM search.” Licht is the WORST Gm coming close to Joes favorite contributor Mark the bomb Doninek.

  12. Robert W Says:

Good to see identification of the central cancer on this disease-ridden team: Koetter. He is a cowardly game coach, with no confidence in his players on offense, with the exception of an aging mediocracy at QB, a QB who has no future in Tampa or anywhere else; he is ultimately responsible for the putrid defense, consistently refusing to clean house on that side of the ball; he is stupid, ignorant of the most basic probabilities and metrics in-game. Time to invite Ira, who refuses to criticize Koetter, to join you.

  13. CT Buc's fan. Says:

If I were the owner I’d do whatever I could to convince Tony Dungy to take another head coaching job if I could. I’d offer him a percent of ownership of the team if necessary. 😉

  14. Lamarcus Says:

Bruce Arians. Buy him his own urgent Care center in his basement

  15. deminion Says:

I have no clue who is out there that can help this team we need a good coach but I look out there and don’t see anyone. Linocln Riley isn’t leaving OU plus he has never been in the nfl. Daivd shaw isn’t leaving standford. who is out there we need a andy reid or sean mcvay type coach who has a great scheme for offense. guys are always open on these teams. We need to gut the defense some guys aren’t good at all sadly I don’t think McCoy is good anymore letting him go or releasing him would be ideal because of his contract and letting him go somewhere and win, lavonte same situation. I look around the league teams have gamewreckers we don’t have 1 at all. on defense there isn’t one guy who strikes fear in a OC. We need game wreckers.

  16. go for the face30 Says:

Jason Licht should have a list of Candidates? He needs to be gone too. This draft class is an absolutely disgrace

  17. Hawaiian Buc Says:

“That’s the problem. The Glazers making the decision to begin with! They are not their dad.”

    ——–

Ding ding ding!!! This is why we have to have a Tom Coughlin type person in this organization. We need a football man making the football decisions instead of businessmen making football decisions. That’s not a jab at the Glazers. I truly believe they want to win. Problem is, they don’t know how. How many more coaching failures do we need before we all open our eyes and realize this. I couldn’t hire the right coach either, and neither could any of us on this board. We haven’t played or coached in the NFL. We could get lucky, but the reality is none of us know how to hire a head coach. Problem is, neither do the owners of the team. Until that changes, we will be right back in this same spot next year.

  18. Destinjohnny Says:

Guys Jason is the problem Jason is the problem Jason is the problem
A coach, any coach, no coach can win with these players
The guy drafting is the problem

  19. ste Says:

go after McDaniels and pay Jimmy Johnson to come be an advisor for execs and football eval people

  20. SOEbuc Says:

They need to dump a ton of players that are not still guaranteed and open up the check book to a guy with actual HC experience and multiple playoff/Super Bowl apperances and that you know will be able to put together a good staff.

I just don’t have the feeling Cowher coming out of the booth is going to be the same sh!t show it has looked like with Gruden and his $100 million. Cowher is a dream upon a star.

  21. Eric Says:

The offense is not that good. No running game. In five of our eight games the other teams was so far ahead at halftime they just play prevent. All the stats are padded due to those second half “comebacks”. I give credit for the fast starts in first two games. But overall the stats are skewed.

For the life of me I cant see how Licht can be considered a good or even average GM. Our opponents in the Division seem to be able to draft guys they plug in and produce right away.

Since Lovie was fired what are Licht’s successes? Howard and Godwin? On the defensive side of the ball totally zilch. Not to mention the free agent debacles.

Just getting rid of the coach doesn’t do it for me, need a clean sweep which is sad cause we’re on rebuild number 10 million it seems. And since we are not playing Jamies I guess we have to draft a QB, so these other needs go unaddressed. What a sorry sorry sorry state of affairs. At best were three years away and that’s if they make the right hires – which they likely wont.

  22. Hawaiian Buc Says:

“If I were the owner I’d do whatever I could to convince Tony Dungy to take another head coaching job if I could. I’d offer him a percent of ownership of the team if necessary. 😉”

    ———-

Dungy isn’t the answer at coach. He’s been gone too long. He would be an excellent choice for President of Football Operations, or even a consultant.

  23. El Buco Realisto Says:

Time for another “Realist Repost”!!!!!!!!!!!!! Find the “GM” Then they will find the Head Coach, then will evaluate what players will stay, and then flush the rest of the roster!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    The Buc Realist Says:
    October 24th, 2018 at 8:50 am

If we are not talking about who the new GM will be next year, then we are just wasting time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. AlteredEgo Says:

I have no clue who would make a great NFL coach these days….babied ..spoiled ,primadonna’s that only know personal success and can’t handle failure without emotionally quitting…I really don’t think modern players can be coached like back in the day…I don’t relate to the NFL anymore…sad to watch it fall apart and the players don’t even realize they are the problem

  25. Resurrection of Duff Says:

The race to get the right Head Coach between Cleveland and Tampa has begun.

Meanwhile, our defense is making sure we rob the title of “Laughingstock of the NFL” from the infamous Browns. We are well on our way to victory!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!

  26. pelbuc Says:

Get a trusted Football operations guy NOW and he can start the new GM and HC search. Lots of dead weight on this team that need to be released or traded, i.e . JW, GMC, Djax, Donovan Smith, Dotson, Benenoch, Grimes, Hargraves, Kwon and Spence to name a few. BTW, start playing Cappa, Griffen and Spence to see if there’s anyone there to keep. Amother lost season at the halfway point. SMH!

  27. 813bucboi Says:

    KRIS RICHARD 4 HC!!!!!!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  28. Kgh4life Says:

The GM and the Head Coach has to go, clean house.

  29. JP_09 Says:

I’d consider trying to pry Saban away from Bama, maybe he’d like another shot in the NFL. It’s worth inquiring about, highly doubtful though

  30. Joe Says:

    go after McDaniels

To change Ed Glazer’s oil in his Escalade?

Raheem Morris would be a better hire. Yeah, Joe typed that. McDaniels never had a winning season as a head coach. Rah won 10 games once.

  31. dmatt Says:

Jim Harbaugh for Bucs Coach. He’s creative, innovative, thinks outside the box n knows how to add a spark n explosiveness to his team. Koetter spends too much time during his off days in the basement wit Lovie discussing systems that r no longer effective in the NFL. Harbaugh took the 49ers from rags to riches. He’s on the level of a Sean McVey/ Sean Peyton. Let’s make it happen.

  32. thee good ol'e days Says:

new coach new scheme maybe new QB COME 2020, i can see bringing in a vet next year to compete with what we got, but who’s to say the next regime doesn’t have a firesale to stock up on picks for the next few drafts ,who in their right mind would want anyone off this defense except for jpp though? and i think GMC retires at the end of this season

  33. stpetebucsfan Says:

Licht’s drafting record took an enormous hit this year. Up till then it was almost all “but he took Aguayo”, and that was obviously a wasted choice. But he had some hits to balance it off…till this year.

But let’s be honest…if JW had worked out it would be a different situation. Before JW supporters come to rip me…yeah he could still work out…yeah it was the fault of we idiotic fans who didn’t support him enough…horrible coaching…no defense..no OL…and somebody peeed on his Cheerios.

All that aside….it is what it is. When you are an NFL GM and you get that rare opportunity to select at the very top of the draft….even though statistically the odds of success/failure is 50-50…you simply cannot miss.

Licht’s Buc career has been totally tied to JW’s career since 2015.

  34. 813bucboi Says:

    realist

your the laughing stock around these parts….lol….your still clueless after spending a few days helping smitty pack his U-HAUL….lol….

the reason why licht’s a$$ is on the griddle is because smitty and dirk could never develop players…..dirk was hired because of how he “developed” Winston and he’ll be fired for “developing” Winston into a turnover machine…..dirk is a glorified play caller…..

and when the glazers can him, he wont even be considered a candidate in CFB let alone the NFL……dirk will never coach in the NFL or CFB again….

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  35. Ian Says:

    Harbaugh

  36. PolkFan Says:

    Urban Meyer anyone??

  37. Joe Says:

    Urban Meyer anyone??

LOL That would be so Bucs. Hire a guy with a brain cyst.

  38. Wesley Says:

    G.M. search as well.

  39. ATrain Says:

    Bilichet

Rumor has it he is tired of winning and wants the ultimate challenge

  40. Doctor_berto Says:

G.M. is the main problem!!! NO talent on this team besides OJ.

  41. jjbucfan Says:

He isn’t fired yet? I’ll check back later. How’s that Duffner instead of Buckner experiment working out? Ohh but he has coordinator experience…yes he does and he still sucks. TEAM GLAZER- Hire a bunch of young up and coming guys like most of the teams are doing with exception of the dynasties of course.

  42. Eric Says:

Anybody with an ounce of credibility would hang up the phone.

  43. scorps1234 Says:

Fire Licht today. His draft is a bust. His past drafts were too one sided and led to the lack of talent on defense. His d line except for jpp is a miss. He should have insisted Smith’s ticket get punched last year. Scott Renyolds Fab 5 is an enlightening and horrific read about Smith’s disfunction. Kotter needs to be fired for allowing that and his complete defense ignorance.

Get a new GM hired this year and let him pick his next coach and QUARTERBACK. I gave Winston every opportunity. Stop calling him America’s Quarterback. He is a sex offender. The Sage said he needed to play lights out when he.came back. He hasn’t. Enough excuses already.

IMHO time to sit Fitz too since he isn’t the future and see what Ryan has.

  44. AlteredEgo Says:

I can’t imagine why any up and coming football coach would want to coach in the NFL these days….the college gigs play on par and they have HUGE rosters of “still coach able players”….

  45. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Of course we have the “Rock Star” out there available……think of hooking him up with “America’s QB”

  46. Not there yet Says:

Uh sorry joe but they simply should be updating the list of candidates they had from last year when dirk should have been fired. It’s time for the Glazers to be owners and handle business. The first freaking mistake would be getting any input from anyone about next year from the regime GM who won’t be here.

Clear whiff on Donte Jackson who could have teamed with Carlton Davis but no we drafted a super slow corner who can’t play inside or outsider. No new regime is giving vh3 first round money and he was playing well before injury but here’s to hoping this teams leadership looks completely different including getting rid of veterans stealing money

  47. Frank Pillow Says:

Ownership is going to have to do one hell of a sales pitch, complete with a big check to get a marquee name in here. Part of me feels like Arians is a guy that could salvage Jameis and be the kind of guy that gets something out of this locker room. I’m sure he’s loving retirement too much to endure this dumpster fire…

  48. Dr. Lob Says:

    BS, fire Jason not Dirk

  49. jmarkbuc Says:

I wouldn’t want Licht to make another decision for the Bucs..except where to get Koetter and himself some cardboard boxes to clean out their offices.

  50. AlteredEgo Says:

Hell Mike Tomlin has nearly had his team quit on themselves….many many NFL players think they are above hard coaching and are quick to place blame on anyone or anything but themselves….every Buc player will and to Joesixpacks ….MASSIVE dollars appear in their bank accounts when they log on to their bank account tomorrow morning ….many simply don’t really care that much….surely not enougn to play hard each and every play….I don’t relate

  51. Joe Says:

I can’t imagine why any up and coming football coach would want to coach in the NFL these days….the college gigs play on par and they have HUGE rosters of “still coach able players”

Having to travel virtually every day or night to some dump or cowtown to cower to a 17-year old and beg him to play for you is a huge reason some coaches prefer the NFL.

In the NFL, it’s just about football. But you are right, in many instances, college football has more job security.

  52. Eric Says:

Could be that both our QB’s are hampered by the fact that they have to score 50 points with no running game in order for us to win.

Dirk thinks this is back int he days of Lamonica and Namath in the AFL.

  53. GhostofSchiano Says:

    This team needs an enema

  54. Duke Silver Says:

FIRE THE GM and the horrid defensive misses he has brought to Tampa! He built that heap of garbage. Nothing wrong with Coach K.

  55. Eric Says:

Even Hue Jackson wouldn’t take their call.

  56. Buc4evr Says:

Both Licht and Koetter need to go away ASAP. They both have had a hand in wasting good talent. The next head coach can evaluate the talent levels and make adjustments. I’m not for letting Jameis go with the current mess the GM has caused.

  57. 813bucboi Says:

watch the cowboys tonight and listen how the commenters rave about Kris Richard and the work he’s done with their defense…..they’ve done it all year…..

regarding GM, hire whoever working under Jon Robinson in TEN…..

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  58. D-Rome Says:

Ever since Dirk Koetter fired Mike Smith I have been more and more in his corner for him to not lose his job. This mess falls on Jason Licht first and foremost. If there is going to be a new head coaching search then Jason Licht cannot be a part of it.

  59. Ian Says:

    Jim Harbaugh

  60. Gettinthebucs Says:

Gotta clean house. I’d keep Jameis and his 21 million salary for next year. That’s a small price to pay to see if he can be a franchise guy in a different system. Hey it worked for Goff. If he fails and we suck again the QB class in 2020 should be deeper than this year. I also agree with the bring in Dungy crowd as well but I think there may be better options. I just don’t see him wanting to come back to football in that capacity. I can’t think of any off the top of my head right now but it’s something I’m definitely going to start looking into.

    GOBUCS!

  61. Defense Rules Says:

@Joe … “Team Glazer needs to be on the phone with Father Dungy, first forgiving him for recommending Chip Kelly and then asking for his A-list.”

The Glazers forgiving Tony Dungy? Now THAT’S hilarious Joe; you’ve definitely outdone yourself. Are we talking about the SAME Glazer clan who FIRED Tony Dungy after he brought us some semblance of relevance in the latter half of the 1990’s IN SPITE OF the Glazers? That Tony Dungy?

What’s ALMOST as funny Joe is that you’re still pimping for Jason Licht. What is it, craft beers? He’s the architect of this mess. Why in the world would anyone want HIM of all people to lead a search for our next head coach?

And besides, it’s NOT a head coaching search that we need to be on right now. We NEED a highly-experienced President of Football Operations with a proven track record as a LEADER & VISIONARY to add some adult supervision to this fiasco. Then let HIM be the one who hires a new GM and a new HC.

  62. Ken Says:

Blowing up this team once again will be such a huge waste of time. This team is not that far off from at least making the playoffs. In the meantime, I would much rather watch this team lose 38-35 each week than 13-9. At least it’s interesting and you know that the team has a chance to come back even if they’re down by 4 touchdowns.

I don’t want to go back to the days when the team is down by 4+ points late in the game and you know there is no chance they will be able to score a touchdown.

Even if you fire Koetter and elevate Monkin to head coach there is no guarantee that the offense will stay just as potent because now you’re diluting Monkin’s time with lots of other responsibilities.

I would keep the offense mostly the same and possibly let Licht go. I think he has been an ok GM but it might be time for someone new in talent evaluation and acquisition.

  63. LakeLand Says:

Jameis Winston has nothing to do with Licht poor drafting
Licht has been drafting bums since he’s been GM

And signing more bums in free agency

  64. Aceofaerospace Says:

First. Just sell the team. Please!

  65. LakeLand Says:

    The Bucs has been down

    Pittsburgh. 24-7
    Chicago. 38-3
    Atlanta. 21-6
    Cincinnati. 21-0
    Carolina. 35-7

And they are 0-5 in those games

They toy with their 50 fans
    To keep them interested
    Then they lose the game

  66. DB55 Says:

Only person who could come close to fixing this is Bellicheat, good luck with that.

Bruce Arians would at least help us compete

Jimmy Johnson maybe but would his old school ways work in 2019-2020 and beyond?

Seems to me like the only answer is the hot new young assistant and the perennial playoff team that is inching for his chance.

  67. Joe Says:

Jimmy Johnson maybe but would his old school ways work in 2019-2020 and beyond?

Johnson would have a housecleaning of the roster. You better believe you wouldn’t see any dancing while trailing in a game.

The anti-Jameis crowd would freak though. JJ is a Jameis fan.

JJ will never coach again. Life is too good in the Keys.

  68. Fartman Says:

I’m not opposed to Jameis if he doesn’t suck. He has been mediocre at best… but it doesn’t really matter who the QB is when the defense is slightly stronger than a stiff breeze. I think total house cleaning is probably in order… GM/Coach probably half the roster. It’s just not working out.

  69. TheDailyAutopsy Says:

    Jason Licht have a list?
There needs to be a GM list. His overall lousy drafts have help create this monster.

  70. Stevbobucfan Says:

Please please not Josh McDaniel So far whatever he’s been apart of in the nfl has been a mess and also not many of Bill Belichick assistants have been successful in the nfl

  71. D-Rome Says:

    Ken,

    All good points!

  72. El_Buc941 Says:

Josh McDaniels is not coming to Tampa. If he passed up the chance on Luck he will pass this up. I expect a splash move from the Glazer’s. GO GET JIMMY JOHNSON!

  73. jmarkbuc Says:

    @DR

“And besides, it’s NOT a head coaching search that we need to be on right now. We NEED a highly-experienced President of Football Operations with a proven track record as a LEADER & VISIONARY to add some adult supervision to this fiasco. Then let HIM be the one who hires a new GM and a new HC.
    —————————————
Yep, dead on DR. Anything else would be half measures. Those that say keep Dirk are just wrong. He’s soft as the Pillsbury dough boy, and has turned this team the same.

His offense isn’t so ground breaking and trendsetting that someone else can’t coordinate it. Most OC’s would love to work with our receivers…we don’t have anything else, so I don’t think Dirk would be missed.

  74. jmarkbuc Says:

    Jimmy Johnson? Please No.

  75. Mike in MO Says:

The problem is at the top with the GM and his lousy team makeup through inept drafting and poor free agent signings. Hire a new GM and let him decide if he wants to keep Koetter and Winston.

  76. BigPoppaBuc Says:

    Harbaugh AND Flacco.

  77. Bculaw Says:

After watching the Rams/Saints game, it is even more obvious how poorly coached and poorly schemes this team is. For all the talk about how this is now a passing league and the Bucs don’t need a running game to compliment its vertical passing scheme, I watched two of the most explosive offenses in the league rely heavily on dynamic running backs in both the run game and passing game, and ask their All Pro QBs to manage a quick hitting, short and intermediate passing attack, with the occasional vertical throw, to spread out the defense and put less stress on the o-line.

And our offense is the LEAST of our worries!

  78. unbelievable Says:

LOL Joe sorry but you’re delusional if you think the Glazers are preparing for that already. We’ve seen this happen time and time out since Malcom has been gone.

They’ll be one of the last ones to fire their HC, start the search later than everyone, and make the last hires. The next coach probably won’t even have enough time to hire his own full staff and will end up hanging out to a bunch of position coaches from this regime.

We’ve seen this happen time and time again. Why would you think this time will be any different?

    #GlazersDontCare

    #SameOleBucs

    #JustBlameJameis

  79. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Get rid of jason licht ASAP….go get the guy 2nd in command with Joe LOmbardi hire him, or get rich mckay back or call up nick saban…..hire eric bienemy as the HC, but #1 fire licht get a new GM

  80. MTM Says:

Joe, First Licht cannot and should not be involved in any coaching search. He’s a big part of the problem. While I like Derrick Brooks I don’t value his player opinions. Brooks was meth high on Jameis. There needs to be a deep gut job in Tampa with a consequence still management. They are way too many people in this organization with losing. Bottom line.

  81. Bucamania Says:

Hit the reset button on all of ’em!

  82. Crack3rK Says:

Welcome to OBT. Over Before Thanksgiving. I think I’ve seen this movie before…

  83. ATLBucsfan Says:

Sell the team to an owner that demands excellence from everybody. Then implement consequences when excellence is not met!

  84. miken Says:

I know I’m dumb but waiting to throw in the towel on the season. 3 winnable games in skins gmen and 49ers puts us at 6-5.

  85. No Fair League Says:

If John Harbaugh gets fired in Baltimore, he’ll have a number of jobs he can choose from. Would the Bucs be his first choice? Doubtful. Perhaps he’ll take a year off from coaching and wait for a better job to open up.

  86. Pete Mitchell Says:

There’s a couple of guys on the d-line that may have some insight on Jim Schwartz.

  87. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Pete good call, but it seems the bucs and licht were the suckers to grab those guys from the iggles

  88. Jonny Says:

We need a Saban, Harbaugh kind of a CEO type coach that can attract good assistants and know how to install a winning culture. I live in Massachusetts and Belicheck hasn’t been in very friendly terms with the ownership and Brady in the last two years. Our offensive firepower must entice good coaches.

  89. Dan Says:

The Coach and GM must go!!

  90. Dan Says:

DBS is spot on . The Glazer boys have proven they are not their Dad and cant be left to make choices . They have been awful.SO it is no surprise we cant win with them .

  91. passthebuc Says:

And remind me again why you would suggest that ownership ask the GM to put together a list of possible replacements?

  92. Dave Says:

    BRUCE ARIANS!!!!!!!

  93. Pete I Says:

    What a mess!

  94. Tbbucs3 Says:

The Bucs are not going to go anywhere until they fire Jason Licht and hire a new GM.

Doesn’t matter who the coach is until we can get someone who knows how to build an NFL team.

  95. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Agreed Dusthty

#1 priority needs to be to fire Jason Licht. Get him out.

The entire 2016 draft class was a joke.

  96. Joe In Michigan Says:

Pewter Report says Norv Turner. 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢

  97. pepsi Says:

So no coach on defense has any answer for how to fix this mess.. perhaps its because they cant.. perhaps its an impossible job at this point? Perhaps this article should be about the Glazers firing up the GM search. ya know.. to replace the actual guy responsible for why no coach can fix this miss

  98. Jonathan Lipnicki Says:

Licht’s Out wearing his usher costume in this one? How fitting..he can show himself to the exit

  99. Captain Dan Lawrence Says:

We sure get an awful lot of opinion with a dribble of news mixed in! :/

  100. Pryda Says:

Licht stays Koetter is fired Jameis stays gmc goes

  101. 321BucFan Says:

    Ex Buc Scott Frost

  102. D1 Says:

    @Joe,

Just a thought, why not contact the League office which has a committee that compiles a list of vetted candidates for future Head Coach consideration. Why tap sources when the League office has done the work already. Now that’s not the only source I believe the team should consider. But I would put #1 on the list.

  103. Darin Says:

Harbaugh callers. Yes we hear you. Makes sense the Bucs need a real HC. Cant hire a guy who is coaching another team. Dont let rumors start more rumors. My goodness if we are going for coaches already coaching why pick Harbaugh? Ive got at least 7 guys over him.

  104. Jameis Wienstien Says:

Did I just read a commenter banging the table for BILL COWHER!? LMAO! I guess it’s true, some dreams never die!

  105. OneBucPerson Says:

I’d love me an experienced HC like a Harbaugh or a McCarthy (if the rumors of either of their seats being hot are true), guys who have won an SB before are always a plus. Wouldn’t mind giving an outside upstart a chance either like a John DeFilippo or a Teryl Austin, could even go really outside the box and make an ST coordinator into an HC like a Dave Toub or even bring back Rich Bisaccia. Just throwing out ideas because as of right now any of them sound like a giant improvement over Dirk.

  106. DBS Says:

Bruce Arians today said “Browns Only job I would consider”. What not Cleveland South?

  107. Wesley Says:

    No McCarthy!!!!!!!

  108. Jaycee Says:

Getting a new HC will set this franchise back another 3 years. New coaches bring new players and schemes which takes time to develop. Look around the league of former Buc players that the new coach discarded. We could have a great O-line with them. A decent secondary too. Everyone called for Mike Smith’s head and it didn’t change a thing with the defense. The Bucs can’t be like the Browns and get a new coach every three years. Glazer’s need to give Koetter a vote of confidence and keep this train moving forward. People, look what the offense is doing!!! Better than Chucky.

  109. lambchop Says:

Todd Wash (HC) or Vic Fangio (HC), Jim Bob Cooter (OC), Wade Phillips (DC).

Random thoughts based on quick Madden-like evaluation.

  110. Bucwar1 Says:

Lets make some UN-BUC MOVES THIS YEAR! Dirk Koetter has this offense putting up incredible numbers. I say keep Koetter, and work on the pass defense, shore up the OL, put Jameis Winston back in as starting QB. That would be UNBUCCANEER MOVES of the past 42 years! Starting over is NOT the answer!

  111. USMC-B Says:

    Disagree,

Licht should hire another DC and find a way to draft defensive players.
