Sad State Of Defense

October 26th, 2018

Just one.

This is almost too bad to believe.

When Mark Duffner took over as Bucs defensive coordinator, he noted the desire for more takeaways, specifically interceptions. Duffner said players have been in position to make picks, but have not been able to come down with the ball.

Last night in Houston’s beat down of Miami, the Dolphins did have a nice play when Kenyan Drake hauled in a 28-yard pass from wide receiver Danny Amendola. That play marked the fourth time this season a wide receiver has thrown a touchdown pass in the NFL.

That’s four times more touchdowns thrown by a wide receiver than the Bucs have interceptions. Tampa Bay has but one pick, and that is from safety Justin Evans.

That is sad.

    Communication.

  2. Ray Rice Says:

    That has no F’ing relevance. That’s like me saying that’s more TD’s than Geraldine McBooty has in game changing plays.

    Jury is still out on Duffner as DC

    @bringbucsback. Communication… LOL.

    This defense is soft and slow. How did things get so pathetic in bucville.

    I think the 3 rookies playing in the secondary had very few ints in college…they don’t help the cause…

    6 secondary picks in over 30 + draft pick since Licht (2014). Four of those 6 came in 2018 and 2017. Hmmm? Also, we went into the season with a secondary where, besides Grimes and Conte, no one had over 3 years of NFL experience. Great job GM! I could do better than this!

    In 2002 the Bucs had 31 INT

    But this GM is the best GM in Bucs history

    Yeah, partially because in the same draft the Bucs got two Hall of Famer defensive players. This happens in the NFL once every 20 years. If you are waiting on the Bucs to duplicate that before they start winning again, it’s a very good bet you will die waiting.

    Not sure the correlation. WR through TDs and Bucs INT #s…
