Report: Ronald Jones Injury Is Significant

October 30th, 2018

Based on the performance of Ronald Jones. Joe’s not sure if this really matters.

But the rookie running back is injured, and it’s unclear whether it came on the screen pass he caught Sunday, after which he quickly fell down.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported yesterday that the bad hamstring Jones now possesses will cost him games.

Joe did some digging yesterday and was told the damage will be at least two games. But, of course, hamstrings can be tricky.

Joe sure hopes the Bucs let Jones heal to 100 percent. He’s not shown he’s special to begin with, and what would he look like at 90 percent?

There’s a chance the Bucs season will be lost after Sunday’s game. Let Jones work his way all the back and then feed him the rock to close the season, so everyone can really see what this guy has — or doesn’t have.

The guy in camp with initials D O ran well….where is he these days…looks like Shaun Wilson will get PT

  2. BFFL Says:

    How is Licht still employed?

  3. Bculaw Says:

BFFL – is Licht (and his staff) a poor talent evaluator? Or, is this coaching staff completely incapable of developing young talent?

Tell me : who on this roster (besides Fitz and JPP – both of whom are in the twilight of their career) has improved since joining the Bucs? What young player has taken “the next step?”

I promise you, they don’t all lack talent.

You can’t grow a flower without soil, food, and water.

To paraphrase a quote from “Raising Arizona,” the Bucs organization “is a rocky place where a seed can find no purchase.”

But it’s the players’ fault. Right?

  4. Resurrection of Duff Says:

“Let Jones work his way all the back and then feed him the rock to close the season, so everyone can really see what this guy has — or doesn’t have.” Joe

If we get to that point and Winston is not starting then, I would love to see what we have with Ryan Griffin also. That is the perfect time to find out.

  5. Dewey Selmon Says:

Jones is not going to be cut anytime soon. Shaun Wilson needs more playing time to see what we have in him.

  6. ChanEpic Says:

So the 2nd round RB who cannot catch, block or run is now injured. I reiterate what another poster said: “How does Licht still have a job?” How?

  7. Destinjohnny Says:

Not happy that I was on record that he didn’t have it.
Truthfully was rooting for myself to be wrong

  8. Jeagan1999 Says:

Ryan Nall….a 6″2′, 235lb power back with good speed, balance and great hands out of the backfield (a poor mans Todd Gurley) is currently on the Bears practice squad. Would be a great compliment to Barber, and wouldnt cost us anything to sign!

    Make it happen Jason Licht!

  9. Bucs55 Says:

We stunned the world with a great trade to get more draft picks for light to mess it up and draft all this trash Carlton Davis and Justin Watson will be the only good players in our draft class

  10. Bobby M. Says:

McCoy was often injured his first 3 yrs….It happens and doesn’t indicate much. What bothers me is when teams that pick after us are finding superstars….Yet we keep coming up with mediocre players. The Chiefs have drafted Mahomes, Hunt and Hill in the last couple of drafts….The only player we have on that level is Evans. That’s my biggest complaint with Licht….the dude blows through premium picks that aren’t even sticking around.

  11. Danny Says:

This guy looks terrible every time he’s on the field.

  12. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We have plenty of players who have developed or been developed since joining the Bucs…
Mostly on offense but. Humphries, Barber, Godwin, Evans, Marpet, Smith, Brate, Howard,
Justin Evans & Kwon….I am encouraged by Whitehead & Davis.

    True…there are many disappointments…..like Spence….

The jury is still out on VH3 (we probably miss him more than most would imagine)

And, as far as draft picks Vea, Rojo, Cappa & Stewart……you simply can’t be sure with them being rookies and the small body of work thus far….we have to wait to determine their value.

  13. K_Bassuka Says:

Damn we need to fire whomever it’s scouting RB, DL, CB, and K. They truly suck at it.

  14. Fartman Says:

Not sure how we’ll recover from this loss

  15. donuts Says:

Jones is a project. I will promise this that if he stays on this team for year 3 of his career; he will break a 1000 yards in that year. If you look at Jones (high school on), he has this trend where he takes time to learn the play book. I recommend being patient with him. He had some early success at USC. I also think Koetter played this wrong. He should have gone into the USC tape and talked to Jones about it and implemented a few plays. Its all about precision and execution at NFL level. As a coach, you work to the strengths of your players. I think Fitz fits Koetter’s offense better than Winston mostly due to the long ball strengths of Fitz. Vea is the same thing; he will be better at end of year or year 2. I do worry about his injury issues.

Rookies having immediate impact in the NFL is rare not expected.

  16. WalkdaPlank Says:

Charles Sims was better than this guy. And Charles Sims is not good

  17. BigMacAttack Says:

    He’s arguably Licht’s best 2’nd round pick 🤔😂🤟

  18. Not there yet Says:

Licht always consults with the coaches about who they are targeting and who they like and want, Koetter is the one who told licht he wanted O.J. Howard. They are both done and deserve promotion to full fledged fan or go work in the media with people who love to dish out cliches

  19. i like gunslingers Says:

B-U-S-T plain and simple, simple and plain

  20. go for the face30 Says:

Ronald Jones = Blows. Vita Vea = Blows. MJ Stewart = BLOWS. Cappa= Blows

  21. Privilege j Says:

    Should have drafted derrius guice

  22. Trench War Says:

    Joe says,
There’s a chance the Bucs season will be lost after Sunday’s game.

Even if we do lose to Carolina, how is our season lost at 3-5 with a very beatable 3 game stretch against Wash, NYG, SF. I don’t get the pessimism. Are we to just give up and accept that we’re losers again because we’re 3-5? I get the fact you’re a big JW fan but it’s pretty apparent we have a remotely better chance of winning with Fitz at the helm. Unless it’s really not about winning but more about your ego, or credibility. A lot of us wanted JW to succeed, including myself, but we can’t recover defensively with all his untimely turnovers. So why can’t Fitz orchestrate a win against Carolina? They are a streaky team that can be had but only if we can minimize our own mistakes and use our weapons at their full potential. Fitz beat N.O. and Philly when everyone said he’d lose. Carolina’s beatable.

  23. Buc believer Says:

If he plays or stays on the bench he sucks so bad he would have the same stats….. check that he has BETTER stats from the bench.

  24. Defense Rules Says:

@Bculaw … “is Licht (and his staff) a poor talent evaluator? Or, is this coaching staff completely incapable of developing young talent?” And the answer is … YES.

Licht has made his share of drafting mistakes to be sure, but he’s also hit on quite a few. Problem that I keep seeing is that when a team commits itself to ‘building through the draft’ you have to be exceptional on at least your 1st & 2nd round picks, and at least average on the 3rd rnd picks. Obviously that hasn’t been the case (especially when it comes to our 2nd rnd picks).

Can say the exact same thing about his FA prowess. We’ve had some excellent pickups (JPP being the best IMO), but we’ve had a whole bunch of duds too. Put it all together with Bucs selection of coaching staffs and it spells one thing: LOSING TEAM.

What we’re doing clearly isn’t working. Glazers have no choice at this point but to regroup. Keep what’s worth keeping, and rid themselves of what’s holding us back. We’ve got quite a bit of talent that we can build around, but we’ve also got some very obvious weaknesses that MUST BE FIXED if we expect to sniff the playoffs ever again. IMO it’ll take a new GM & a new coaching staff to do that, as well as a President of Football Operations to oversee BOTH.

  25. 813bucboi Says:

put him on IR….let him bulk up…..time for shaun Wilson

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  26. Bobby M. Says:

I like Quiz over Jones….Jones has obvious home run potential but he’s very limited in the play calling. Quiz can pass block, catch the screens, or run up the middle. Better all around back that doesn’t tip our hand to the defense.

  27. LakeLand Says:

Give Jason Licht that 10 year, $10 million extension

Boy, he sure can evaluate talent
No GM in the NFL drafts better than him

  28. LakeLand Says:

    **10 year, $100 Million extension**

  29. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

jason licht has an injury too, directly on his medulla oblongata on common sense regarding any football moves

  30. Jmarkbuc Says:

What ? Did a stiff wind take out ROJO?

How do you get injured playing less than ten plays so far?

  31. miken Says:

MAn, i know the jameis headlines dominate but the rojo pick over guice was one like the kicker pick that i will never understand. Rojo will never be much better than sims at best. If you don’t find studs in the 2nd round, your team won’t be great.

  32. Crack3rK Says:

Bculaw- Anyone who quotes a Coen Brothers film hasn’t attention. Now get me one of them babies!

  33. Crack3rK Says:

Bculaw “has my attention” dang auto correct!

  34. Tc Says:

How do you run for negative yardage? In the preseason and career?

  35. Destinjohnny Says:

I said it the day after the draft and man did I take heat
This was the draft that will get Jason fired

  36. firethecannons Says:

I don’t care about Ronald Jones

  37. Mike Johnson Says:

I say fire everybody in the caoching staff. Make Father Tony Dungy Head of the Buc football operations. Let him call the shots and develop this team. What do we have to lose thats not lost already? Jones is yet another wasted 2nd rder. And it looks like our 1st rder follows suite. You guys are gonna see just how bad we are come Sunday. Them Panthers are ballin..straight up rollin. Taking no prisoners! fitz ain’t seen a rush like he;s gonna see come Sunday. You guys had better be glad we still got jameis in reserve.

  38. Rob Tanner Says:

I think Jones is just like Cadilac Williams, minus the yards and the production.
