Kendall Beckwith Takes The Next Step

October 31st, 2018

Back on the field

Linebacker Kendell Beckwith had a heck of a rookie season, showing his versatility, talent and smarts playing multiple positions without missing a game.

He even put his hand in the dirt as a pass rusher, though that didn’t go very well. What made it even more impressive was Beckwith was coming off ACL surgery less than a year prior.

Tragically, Beckwith had an April 2018 car accident that wrecked his ankle.

Today he returned to the practice field, though he won’t be in real action soon, Dirk Koetter explained.

“It’s really remarkable,” Koetter said. “Offseason accident and when he had that surgery, they were saying that this is going to be a tough injury to come back from. He’s worked his tail off. He’s had a couple of setbacks along the way. So they finally cleared him, so he’s in his 21-day window. And within that 21 days he can be activated at any time, or we would have to put him on PUP, put him down for the season. I know he was excited to be out there today. We’ll just have to see how he responds. And then if it’s positive, they’ll add more reps to his plate. As soon as he feels like he’s ready and the doctors feel like he’s ready, he could possibly return.”

Great news about Beckwith. Hopefully he can get in a few games this year and build some confidence heading into 2019.

Did they say at the time of the wreck that he wasn’t supposed to miss any game time? Or am I totally misremembering that (which is very possible).

Anyways good to seem him back, but if he’s not going to play anytime soon, then will he even be back this year? With Kwon’s deal up ideally they should slide him inside over the last few games and see what they got as he seems to be a natural MLB.

  2. Bird Says:

I wish we had him back Sunday. He can be a true mike linebacker. Love Kwons energy but he makes a lot of mistakes.

Beckwith Doesn’t overrun his gaps ; has good patience

  3. LakeLand Says:

I guess Adarius Taylor will be starting again at MIKE LB

The Mr Jameis Winstons Uber Man may indead be the Americas Quartreback, but the Mr Ryan FitzpPratciks manly beard makes Mr Ryan the Islam Quartrebacks. Praise Be Allah, The Prophet Mohammed, and Islam’s Quartrebacks Ryan Fitzpratciks!!!

It will probably take him the full 21 days to become ready….it’s been a long time since he played…..we need some help in the middle…..

  6. Reach87 Says:

On the cusp of being very good…need him back for how he hits his run fits. Go Bucs!

I hope you aren’t getting as old as me lol. Otherwise learn to live with the misremembering….peeing all night…blue pills become essential…growing old is not for sissies.

I’m really pumped today because my PSA was 33% lower this year than last…got that great news from my Urologist yesterday.

  8. TampaTown Says:

Let’s hope they don’t have to put him down 😂

Islams QB is fake. Just another lie put out by the false prophet. The real question is will Joe sensor me???

  10. Dexfields Says:

    Best linebacker on the team!!!

  11. joestang Says:

One of our best players, dont rush him back

  12. 911bucs Says:

Great to have him back, we sure need him.

@St. Pete speaking of psa mine doubled from last year and I’m 48yo. Sucks getting older sir.

My PSA is perfect. Of course I underwent a year of radiation and Chemotherapy For prostate cancer, but getting on to more serious stuff so maybe my post will survive moderation, I’m glad to hear Beckwith is practicing, agree it may take full 3 weeks to get into shape but with Kwon out it would be nice to get him back in December. Also glad to see McCoy and Curry practicing. It’s how you play in December that often makes a difference.

    Hope you are getting better.

@Koetter … ” “Offseason accident and when he had that surgery, they were saying that this is going to be a tough injury to come back from.” This isn’t anything like what I remember them saying at the time Joe. Also don’t remember hearing anything about TWO setbacks along the recovery road. i know teams like to play it coy when it comes to injuries, but danged, this is taking it a bit far.

  16. Geno Says:

Martini. On Tuesday my urologist put me on a new medication. I asked him about side effects and when he said it may cause additional hair growth on top of my head, I think I probably missed all the other side effects because of dreaming about thick hair again.

On the memory thing, I remember Beckwith as outstanding on recognizing the plays and tackling. However, I remember his pass coverage skills more along the line of MJ Stewart in that he could clear be exploited by his lack of speed.

  17. Trench War Says:

I hope he can come back someday but if not this season maybe we’ll see him in camp. Joe Dirt needs to step up!

  18. TOM Says:

Looking forward to Beckwith coming back. Just don’t rush him. Ido believe in time he would better at MLB. Taylor didn’t fair to well against the Bengals. Maybe its time to give Bullough (dirt bag) a chance.

  19. SKBucsFan Says:

Hopefully Beckwith will be playing sooner rather than later. But in the meantime they should be giving Joe Dirt a chance to play. The guy runs on full throttle all the time. Let him loose and see what he can do. He might surprise.
