Jameis: Unfazed By Captains Vote

Loss doesn’t hurt
America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, isn’t wearing a “C” on his chest this season, and he was asked about that today at One Buc Palace.
Bucs players voted to name their season captains last week and Jameis was not selected. Ali Marpet and Mike Evans were named offensive captains.
Lavonte David and Kwon Alexander were victorious on defense and Adarius Taylor is the “C” on special teams, though it’s unclear how much he’ll play there now that he’s the full-time replacement for injured Kwon.
Jameis was asked about losing out as a 2018 captain today — he had been voted captain in past years — and Jameis said he was not fazed and Marpet and Evans are extremely deserving, (He also noted Marpet is the team’s union rep, which Joe found to be an odd inclusion.)
No “C” on your chest “doesn’t mean you can’t lead,” Jameis added.
That, of course, is the correct and appropriate attitude.
The captain vote means little, but it is a real glimpse in the collective team mindset on one particular day. So it is something.

I think this is consistent with what Jameis said when he came back. He said he wanted to regain the trust… of all his teammates & also the Bucs fanbase. – I think he was sincere about that and is trying to regain that trust now. He probably feels like he needs to earn that C again.

Jmark waiting for that as well, also pretty clear that I am guessing jameis would not be a capt seeing how he was suspended for a pretty bad incident

And yet, he went out for the coin toss, to start the Browns game…one has to wonder what’s going on…all the announced Captains were out there, so he wasn’t a replacement. Perhaps the Joes could check that out?

Joe please do us all a favor and stop referring to JW as “America’s” QB. Good Lord he is barely Tampa Bay’s QB. I don’t know where that nick name for him came from, but he is certainly not worthy of that distinction. I can think of plenty of other QB’s who are more deserving.

The Bucs are part of Tampa so since that is in America Winston actually is one of America’s Quarterbacks. Go Bucs!

I believe they actually voted for Fitz, with Marpet being the default should jameis, crabman, winston get the start for another week or so….

To answer your question, in addition to the full time elected Captains, a team is able to send out an extra Captain each week.

Man who cares about being American quarter back or team captain. I don’t care who they make a caption. It could have been the water boy as far as I care. Some of y’all on this site and this fan base care about the worng thing.

It shouldn’t faze him because he was never a leader from the beginning they forced it upon him just because he is the qb but his motivational speeches are not authentic and are horrible and he has always had off the field issues they wanted him to be a leader so bad they disregarded the red flags and tried to make him the face of the franchise we see how all that worked out

I think he already knew he wasn’t going to be captian. You don’t get suspended for the first 3 games and expect to come back and be voted captain no matter who you are. Just the media asking dumb question and trying to stir the pot.
