Man, this Hard Knocks flashback is a bit spooky right now.

We are saved, we cut Kevin Minter and signed Javian Elliott form the practice squad. Oh thank God, I thought we may go after a RG at the deadline, thank you Bucs!!

  2. AfrikaThaRapper Says:

They told him his exact issue but it still didn’t sink in. JW is who he is and he is never going to change. This is not a physical/technique problem, it’s mental. He thinks that he can/should make throws that he shouldn’t. It’s like he plans on who is going to get the ball before it’s hiked.

  3. Winston's back Says:

Is Koetter even coaching him?? Best team?? Asking for JW

Dude is just asking “what is too much”.

  4. OneBuc55 Says:

Way to pass the buck Dirk…Coaching has never lost games…I guess that’s why the NFL has Black Monday…

James is still young, maybe a change of scenery and being a backup for a while will do him good…New England would be a nice landing spot…

  5. Lamarcus Says:

Koetter is not JWs coach. He needs a new coach

  6. Lamarcus Says:

    Afrika

What? JW asked “HIS COACH HIS BOSS” What is too much?? How would you answeree him?….. We turning the tape on and I’ll show JW what he is messing up on.

  7. Lamarcus Says:

And a question to Koetter since he reads things…. Listen. The kid don’t need that type of weight and message you sent him was to be Aaron Rogers when he need to more like Brady instead because of game manager styles and it don’t matter if Bucs sucks your gonna be the reason why we lose.

If JW ask me as his coach the same question…. Right then and there we gonna do 2 things: hit the field or put on tape of himself in wacky turnovers situations and following up daily for understanding of “doing too much”.

  8. LakeLand Says:

Jameis Winston averaged 33.4 passes per game as a rookie
He averaged 35.4 passes per game in 2016
He averaged 34 passes per game in 2017

But he has thrown 148 passes in 2 full games, 2 halfs
The Bucs has averaged 47.7 passes per game in their last 3 games

I don’t understand the logic of Koetter
Why have a guy throw 45-50 passes a game
A guy coming of a 2 game suspension

  9. BucsBandit Says:

    America’s Backup QB (TM)

  10. LakeLand Says:

    **3 game suspension**

  11. Chris K Says:

This is borderline obsession. We are, this is, a Buccaneers fan page. The title “Joe Bucs fan” says it all… We’re 3-4 and we have plenty of heart from players on this roster currently not named Jameis. I hope Jameis has his day come, but until then I’m worried about the guys that will be on the field this Sunday. Can we beat Carolina in Carolina? Are Curry and McCoy ready to return soon? Beckwith? We currently have an outstanding group of pass catchers and if Fitz continues to be a solid NFL Quarterback anything is possible. That’s how the fan in me wants to see it. I believe all actual fans feel the same.

I for one will focus more on the players that will be on the field when we play and less on players who aren’t. Might be time as fans we all do the same.

  12. D1 Says:

    Lakeland,

Why? Because the defense is dead last in the league. There’s no run blocking on the right side of the line and the bucs drafted a small quick back when they needed a big powerful rb who is fast. No running game, no defense. ..what is the only option.

Passing. The team has a wealth of riches at reciever position. Includes t.e.

I mean it ain’t that hard to figure out. It’s the only option.

  13. LakeLand Says:

Fitz has only thrown 144 passes
In 3 full games and about 2 halves

    28 against New Orleans
    33 against Philly
    Both wins

    50 passes against the Steelers
    A loss

    18 passes against Chicago
    15 against the Bengals

    I don’t understand
Why the guy who mostly worked with the 2nd team
Throws more passes than the guy that worked with the 1st team

  14. chris l Says:

Questionable when he says we have a really good defense and jameis never learned to not lose a game with his turnovers. same as last year. looks like they made this for the cameras and hard knocks. oh the irony

  15. D1 Says:

    LaMarcus, onebuc,

Serious question, do you believe Winston is a low or high football IQ guy.
Is He low or high IQ intellectually?

  16. jjbucfan Says:

Lakeland- Because Dirk is an amateur.

  17. D1 Says:

    Lakeland,

Answer, Fitzpatrick is more efficient. He moves down the field with less passes.
Winston got plenty of reps with the ones. , Fitzpatrick requires less reps than Winston.
Years of being a back up and you perfect limited reps.

  18. LakeLand Says:

The running game was on point against Atlanta
    And Koetter abandoned it

The running game was on point against Cincinnati
    And Koetter abandoned it

  19. OneBuc55 Says:

    I still believe in Jameis…

Did he stink on Sunday? Yes…is Fitzpatrick or a rookie QB the long-term answer? Imo, No…

I’ve been watching football for 40 years; I’ve seen some really good QB have days like Jameis had Sunday… ironically, I can’t recall Brady of Rodgers having days like that

  20. t.posse Says:

Hi, I clicked on the zucchini noodles add and it comes up as “Bad Request”…everything else I click on is ok. I’m trying to eliminate carbs so I can get a gf and I need all the help I can get bc I’m fat. Thanks!

  21. OneBuc55 Says:

    I still believe in Jameis…

Did he stink on Sunday? Yes…is Fitzpatrick or a rookie QB the long-term answer? Imo, No…

I’ve been watching football for 40 years; I’ve seen some really good QB have days like Jameis had Sunday… ironically, I can’t recall Brady of Rodgers having days like that though…

  22. LakeLand Says:

One the 1st series against the Bengals
Peyton barber had 5 carries for 25 Yards
Jameis Winston ran for 6 on the 4th down play
He threw a short pass to Hump for 11 yards

They get in the Red Zone
He forced a pass to Mike Evans-interception

They was moving at will against the Bengals
With the runs and short passes

  23. Lamarcus Says:

    D1

Maybe because he is an NFL Qb and I’m not. I have no QB iQ to judge JW based on that but if JW didn’t understand “what’s doing to much” meant I would of knew right there I needed to coach that out of him like coaches do. Not a message like a friend should tell you not your NFL boss/head coach. I guarantee JW left the room and didn’t learn a thing.

  24. AfrikaThaRapper Says:

@ LakeLand That is my exact point. He keeps forcing the ball to ppl that are totally covered. It’s like he has an unseen script in his head and he’s trying to follow it against the will of his coaches. Like he dreamed about how he played the game the night before….

  25. Trench War Says:

I don’t feel Koetter articulated his answer very well. I feel with Jameis to completely understand something he’s been programmed to ignore his whole football life can only be accomplished visually. Perhaps coach should have followed up with footage of all his turnovers during what was situational football. As much as Jameis is said to be a film junky, maybe watching all of his bad Jameis footage would have answered that question. Maybe JW would be woke.

  26. LakeLand Says:

    The opening drive against Atlanta

    Peyton Barber,31 yards rushing
Chris Godwin, 2 catches 24 Yards receiving
    Auclair 1 catch,5 Yards receiving
    Cam Brate 15 yard TD

  27. Grt1 Says:

Didn’t Koetter get fired from Atlanta while having Matt Ryan there at QB. Coaching is the question we should ask. It’s eaiser to find coaches then talent guys. Just saying think about it.

  28. jjbucfan Says:

OneBuc-Brady threw 4 in back to back games in 2010, his 10th year in the league. Big Ben threw 5 last year and both started the next game.

  29. AfrikaThaRapper Says:

@LakeLand My point was that he’s forcing the ball on predetermined receivers whether they are covered or not. Like he dreamed about how he was going to play in the game the night before and he’s playing according to that script, in turn going against his coaches wishes (the gameplan).

  30. LakeLand Says:

I said this when the Bucs first came with that #WeaponsForWinston# nonsense

    LakeLandBuc Says:
    February 9th, 2017 at 11:57 am

83 passes to RB…..116 passes to TE…372 passes to WR. That’s why the Bucs want Speedy WRs so bad. Over 65% of their passes goes to WRs, and we talk about accuracy. We just have to throw the ball 20 yards up the field. We just don’t believe in * taking what the defense give us*. We just feel the need to force the ball to WRs in double coverage. Hump is not a legitimate * Number 2 WR” according to some posters, because he don’t stretch the field. We don’t need 4.2 WRs to stretch the field, we need 2-3 more WRs like Hump, who can move the chains. And add a 3 down back, who can run, block and catch.

  31. LakeLand Says:

Jameis Winston is not a vertical passer
He’s not a deep ball passer

    He’s a “short game QB

  32. Trench War Says:

Yep Brady, Big Ben, Brees, Matty Ice, Rivers, Manning Bros. etc.. have all thrown 4 or more INTs in games several times during their careers. But what is the difference between them and Jameis? Why aren’t they benched, you ask? They win BIG games when needed. Jameis doesn’t have that luxury to make that claim.

  33. OneBuc55 Says:

    Thanks JJ Buc…

Dirk’s a bonehead…What happens when Fitzpatrick throws 3 or 4 picks…people forget he threw 27 a couple years ago… Bye-bye Dirk…Can we get Bruce Arians out of the booth please…

  34. OneBuc55 Says:

    Trench you’re right…

Jameis is also a media whipping boy…So you know they’ll act as if hes the first QB ever to have a 4 int game…

  35. stpetebucsfan Says:

This is not about Fitz or whether he is the solution…how many picks he might throw…HE IS NOT THE FRANCHISE QB.

We all get that but this is about JW…20 million bucks next year and figuring when it’s time to cut losses. It’s always a hard investment decision football, business, relationships whatever…to determine whether you’ve reached that position where you are throwing good money/time/energy after bad money.

Here’s a reality check. There is a reasonable case to be made that neither Fitz nor Jameis will be QB in 2019. It could be that we’re debating the wrong topic. It’s not about Fitz…didn’t spend a #1 pick in the draft and #weaponsforFitz.

Yeah you freaking JW whiners there is less criticism of Fitz and more expectations on JW. He’s the #1 pick of the draft…he was to be the “franchise QB”. Is there more pressure on Carson Wentz or Nick Foles?

  36. LakeLand Says:

    Drew Brees and Tom Brady
2 of the most prolific passers of this generation
    Are short game passers now

    Tom Brady (8 games)
    Passes to RB
    101

    Drew Brees (7 games)
    Passes to RB
    77

    The Bucs (7 games)
    Passes to RB
    36 passes to RB

  37. LakeLand Says:

    StPete,

This is what I don’t understand
Jameis Winston was the so-called “franchise” QB
    The QB of the future

But this offense isn’t build for his strength
    He’s not a GUNSLINGER
And he never will be a gunslinger

    As a rookie in 2015
When he played in the Pro Bowl
When he was getting all of the accolades

He threw 119 passes to his RB
And they ran the ball 455 times

Dirk Koetter tried the same thing with Matt Ryan
    And Matt Ryan was regressing
From his time with Mike Mularkey

  38. Islam By Force Says:

What was deleted from this scene was where the glorious coacher man named Koettere reminds the uber-infidel that no victory is possible without Allah, and that only through the Glorious Prophet Mohammed can he hope to defeats the enemy on the gridironed fields of battle. Jihad on Censorsed!!! Praise Be Allah!!!

  39. Bird Says:

It is amazing to me that people are comparing Jameis to Big Ben , Favre, elway , Marino , Rodgers etc etc.

I really can’t believe it honestly. He looks like he has never played football at times. It’s turnovers every game. Not a game here or game there. Who has confidence that he will put the team on his back and win a game. He got an opportunity to play against 3 absolutely crap defenses coming back(all 3 had terrible defenses because of bad injurie; and he should have lost all 3. That browns game he tried to lose.

    Keep living in fantasy land.
Yah let’s give him 100 plus mil for 5 Years – that’s not gonna set the franchise back ?
Yet ,Cutting ties with him is gonna set the franchise back ?

There must be some good weed going around in Tampa right now. You guys have smoked so much you can’t even open your eyes and watch him play over the last 15 games. What’s his record again 2 and 12 or something crazy.

Call fitz whatever you want ; it’s at least fun to watch this offense chuck the ball downfield :
For 20 plus yard plays –

Fitz is around 67-68 % completion with 6 tds and 0 interceptions
Jameis is around 27 % completion with 1 td and 2 interceptions

  40. Bird Says:

    Islam by force

Celeb jihad has done this for years on their website. Cmon bro

  41. LakeLand Says:

    Against the Falcons
He threw 7 passes to RB, 41 passes total
    They all was completed

    Against the Browns
He threw 4 passes to RB, 52 passes total
    2 was completed

He threw 91 passes in those 2 games
    Only 11 to RB

  42. LakeLand Says:

    ** 93 passes**

  43. LakeLand Says:

    Bird

    But this isn’t Jameis strength

That’s why I say this staff has no idea of what they are doing
When they drafted him #1 overall
    They evaluated him, I’m sure
And the DEEP was never his strength

So why build an offense around the DEEP ball

    It don’t make sense

  44. LakeLand Says:

    Mike Evans and DJax

    Has 19 more targets

Than all of the RB and TE combined

  45. LakeLand Says:

Bucs catch ratio in 2015 (Jameis rookie season)

    Mike Evans -50%
    Vincent Jackson-54%
    Dontea Dye-37%
    Louis Murphy- 55 %
    Russell Shepard-33%
    Adam Humphries-67.5

    Doug Martin-75%
    Charles Sims-73%

    Cam Brate- 77%
    Luke Stocker- 69%
    Brandon Meyers-70%
    ASJ-54%

It should have been obvious to them
That his strength is throwing to hi Slot WR, RB, TE

  46. Rod Munch Says:

If the Bucs lose on Sunday then the whole benching Winston deal is a huge backfire and the obvious response is that you do what you should have done over the offseason and you fire Dirk. It’s too bad Mike Smith was fired since he’d have been a natural to be the head coach, while not allowing him to call a single defensive play – meanwhile you’d have Monken free of Dirk’s run it up the middle on every first down even if there are 11 in the box offense. Dirk clearly isn’t head coaching material, he’s a drama queen that offers the team nothing in terms of stability and he never should have been head coach except for the public lynch mob that ran Lovie out of town – had Dirk continued for another year or two as OC and worked with Jameis one-on-one (which remember was the entire reason he was hired) then we’d be in a different place today, but the public lynch mob demanded Lovie’s head on a platter after improving my 4 games in year two and having a top 10 defense. That’s what you get for listening to lynch mobs.

  47. Jsmalls Says:

The kicker… He can lose games too…. A lot over the last several years…. Apparently…..

  48. Bob in Valrico Says:

Agree with Lakeland in some respects.
First, Jameis is not efficient enough on the deep ball ,so we have to go to a more methodical long drive offense with short to intermediate passes. We are missing
the faster RB that can reach the edge and make explosive plays out of the backfield in both running and passing opportunities.
We win when get big plays from our playmaking receivers . Jameis is not consistent enough connecting on these type plays or efficient enough to move the
ball 80 or more yards down the field and into the endzone. He has only accounted for 6 points in each of his last two games.

  49. Loyaltotheend Says:

Jameis just doesn’t get it and probably never will

  50. oar Says:

Year FOUR and still an average QB with all turnover issues and all these excuses.

  51. NPRSageBoy Says:

jjbucfan- are you seriously comparing Jay Miss to Brady and Big Ben?
    LOL..LOL…LOL ..
Not even in the same universe

  52. VFL98 Says:

Dirk really doesn’t know what he is doing. So let me get this straight, Winston is the ONLY guy to lose a game for Tampa because no one else touches the ball a lot? WOW!!!! That my friend is some coaching lesson. Ridiculous!! about the a KICKER Dirk! How about a RB Dirk!! give me a break. Dirk needs to go!!

  53. Crazed Bucs Fan Says:

Winston rocks! Well… he’s better than Josh Freeman.
