Peyton Barber A Popular Guy
September 1st, 2018Bucs running back Peyton Barber may not be a household name, but apparently, those who enjoy wagering are big fans.
Earlier this week, Bovada.com, a site that traffics in moneylines and things like that, offered an NFL prop bet for the number of yards that Barber would gain this season. The folks at Bovada.com believed Barber’s over-and-under was 550 yards rushing this season.
That has changed.
As of late Friday night, Bovada.com has Barber’s over/under at 675 yards rushing. That’s quite a big difference. Are the sharpies alarmed as Bucs fans are with Ronald Jones’ miserable preseason?
Another interesting prop bet is Barber’s total touchdowns scored (rushing and receiving) is 4.5. This is intriguing because last year with a running back who had one of the worst consecutive seasons for yards-per-carry in NFL history, the Bucs had two rushing touchdowns in the red zone.
That’s nearly half of Barber’s over/under line for touchdowns in 2018.

Barber looks great. He has turned me into a believer he can be a grinder. Maybe not a game changer but he can change the game. Does that make sense?
Speaking of great, man that Gerald McCoy looks amazing. Probably going to get 7th Pro bowl, 4th 1st team all-pro.
Gerald, Gerald, Gerald.
Go Dungy!!
Go BUCS!!

I predict McCoy will have the best season of his career this year.
He’s never really had a strong D-Line supporting cast, and now we arguably have more talent (and depth) on the D-Line than he has had during his entire career.
If Vea turns out to be much at all, McCoy might *really* shine this season.

I tend to root for the under dog and Peyton has pulled it off. Well Done!
McCoy, he’s looking like that he’s not only back to form from years ago, he looks hungrier as well as sharper than ever!
Jones, he’s worrying me but I haven’t lost hope for him. I hope in my heart of hearts that the stars just haven’t lined up for him and that the clouds are about to part. WE NEED HIM!
He does need to get out of his own way! I’m pulling hard for him. He could be amazing about to happen!
10-6 with a playoff berth! GO BUCS!!!!!!!!!!! 🤞🤞🤞✨👍

Peyton Barber will be THE difference-maker for the Bucs this year (assuming that he stays healthy of course). Lat year the Bucs were near the bottom of the league with only 8 TDs scored by rushing (the Saints, in contrast, led the NFL with 23 TDs rushing). We had an abysmal running game: near the bottom in terms of rushing attempts (only 389), total rushing yards yards (only 1,450) and average yards per rushing attempt (only 3.7 YPC). We were really baaad in other words.
Joe ran out of ink in his computer preaching to us that Martin was the reason we sucked so bad. Surely he was a big reason for our miserable rushing stats, but I think it was just as much because our 2 Guards also sucked. This year, with Donovan Smith & Marpet & Jensen on the left side & Barber in the backfield, we SHOULD see a better running game, especially deep in the Red Zone (more rushing TDs). I still would prefer however to see Licht bring in a veteran big-back for depth & to complement Peyton in the backfield.

Maxi-Pad-is-truly-a-Beotch – an optimistic outlook leads to a more peaceful, loving and joyful life experience.
Perhaps one day you can break free from your self-imposed prison of negativity and experience some of that “good stuff” yourself…
Blind? No!
Optimistic about the fortunes of the Buccaneers franchise in the foreseeable future? You betcha!

Hey Reality, I mean, Tmax how’s that Thomas Sperbeck prediction working out for you? For a guy who’s supposedly so much more skilled and talented than Adam Humphries he sure is having a hard time making an NFL roster…
I thought you were always right about everything?

For a guy who claims to be right about everything you sure are wrong quite a lot. Sup with that?

I have little doubt that if Koetter (big if) actually plays the best players then Barber can rush for over 1,000 yards and 10 TDs. This guy has good vision, good leg drive and understands that moving forward at all times is key. With the fire power we have on offense he is the last thing defenses will be worried about again if Koetter uses him correctly and IF he let’s Monkey call plays.

Yeah I’m feeling Barber gon turn some heads, he’s relentless. I like Shawn Wilson, unlike Rojo, he plays with an “how u like me now” attitude. This guy is a diamond in the rough. So be gone with “oh no” for Rojo if he is the second coming of Jeremy McNichols. Question, y did we bring back same bat channel same bat station Dontae Dye? This guy hasn’t learned anything since Jameis drilled him his rookie year after catching a pass falling to the ground untouched only to get up n throw the ball down? Whyyyyyyy!

It sounds like some money got laid on the over, and vegas adjusted!!!!!!! 675 yards would be a disappointment, with most likely an injury!!!!! And the “real” fans don’t want to see PB need over 168 attempts to get to that 675!!!!!!!!!!!
It will be interesting to see how New Orleans plays the Bucs offense!!!!!! The “real” fans think that it will be mostly a stacked box, and all those weapons played close and dare Fitz to beat them over the top!!!!!!!!!!
Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!
September 1st, 2018 at 7:57 am
Take the over on the TD’s. 675 sounds about right. They will work R Jones in once he figures it out. Jason L cannot afford another flop draft pick so you know he will force RJ into the game.

Awww, what’s the matter, Tmaxcon? Are you butt-hurt because I outed you for who you really are?
If I were a gambling man, I would take the over on both of those and put those idiots out of business with a huge bet. Seems stupid to set odds based only on last year’s results. The only way Barber does that badly is if he gets injured.
But hey, why am I saying this to a guy stupid enough to bet the under?
September 1st, 2018 at 8:15 am
Godeep66, Jason struck gold on 2 of 3 second round picks this year, so even if Jones turns out to be a bust, he still had an excellent draft.
1,000+
7+ touchdowns
Rodgers will get more carries than Jones.
September 1st, 2018 at 8:19 am
The more I think about it, the more I hope they find some way to keep seven WRs. I don’t believe Bobo will beat out Martino or Watson, but I also don’t want to lose him.
September 1st, 2018 at 8:29 am
What is the over/under on this being McCoy’s last season as a Buc?
September 1st, 2018 at 8:37 am
50 yards per game even if only 14 games played would be 700. I would guess with limited success he would get 900.

Bonzi
Once again your ignorance comes shinning threwac…. if licht struck gold on anything this franchise would not be in the basement every freaking year… this team as to earn it on the field not in the minds of delusional low standard fools like yourself
September 1st, 2018 at 9:15 am
How many games have those 2nd rd picks won bonzi????? ZERO respect and wins are earned this franchise has not earned anything in 16 years

@Pickgrin
Very well stated sir. That overwhelming negativity that you correctly identified is literally debilitating. You can google and find study after study that show positive people living longer than negative people.
There is a group of posters here whose arrogance just amazes me. They say who is really a Buc’s fan…who knows football who doesn’t. Some of these folks self worth seems to hinge on their football smarts.
I enjoy the vast majority of folks here and participating with this group. But it does not define me and I’m not here trying to develop some “reputation”. There are plenty of guys here who simply follow the game more closely than me and therefore have a LOT more “knowledge” than me. Since my life is not defined by my place in the pecking order of a sports blog I’m not worried.
The topic of Peyton….Priest Holmes…Arian Foster and others that only old timers remember…had great seasons without ever being drafted. There is no reason Peyton cannot have a breakout season. I suspect as D.R. suggested that Peyton is going to be an impact player for us this season.
September 1st, 2018 at 9:32 am
And here I thought I was the only one who realized “reality” was maxi pad. I haven’t been in the comment sections much lately because if I see one more “Ronald Jones is a bust” or one more “Fitz is better” comment I was gonna lose my mind. One thing I noticed for sure was that maxi pad is trying to use some camouflage

700-800 yds Barber, 700-800 yds RoJo
RoJo will improve as season goes on as he builds chemistry with OL
(Barring injuries)
Success of season is not based on predictions or last year or last 10 years…
It’s based on execution, limit turnovers, effective trenches

Last night I bet $500 on Peyton getting over 4.5 TD this season on Bovado.com after Joe pointed it out. Thanks Joe. I also bet $250 that DJax will have over 750 yards receiving. Hope I’m right cause I stand to make a good return on my investment. Again thanks Joe for the heads-up.
