Evans: Key Is Pass Rush
September 9th, 2018So the Bucs today will be without Brent Grimes and so the defense will rely on either a pair of rookies or Vernon Hargreaves, coming off an ugly 2017 season, to help stop future Hall of Famer Drew Brees at cornerback.
Or turn to Ryan Smith.
(Sorry, Joe must take a moment to clean up his puke from typing that previous sentence.)
Earlier this week, Joe spoke with safety Justin Evans. This was before Grimes blew out his groin. Evans spoke highly of Brees but thought what the Bucs do up front on defense may be more important than what the Bucs do in the secondary.
“You put pressure on any quarterback, they don’t like that,” Evans said. “That could be the best thing to do [against Brees].”
Evans pretty much stated that playing against Brees is like high stakes poker. And a bluff likely won’t work.
“You just have to be on your game,” Evans said. “You can’t give him nothing. And you can’t show him something too soon because he has seen it all before.”

The pass rush will solve everything. You could have 4 DBs from South Carolina State back there and it would not matter if you have pressure on the QB. How do you think Rhonda Barber and John Kynch would have looked if they did not have Sapp and Rice getting to the QB?????

GoDeep you’re spot on. All these ignorant Buc fans love to trash our DB’s but it’s the front 7 who hangs them out to dry.

Finally time to see if the money was well spent!

This game will go a long way in determining the future of the GM and coaching staff. If all these moves do not pay off, starting today, this could be another long season in Tampa.

That was just sacrilegious, man.

Barber and Lynch were always in close coverage…and if WRs caught the ball they were punished..immediately

You need both, excellent pass rush and excellent coverage.

The D-Line will say that the coverage is the key to them getting to the QB. Make the QB hold the ball longer and give us time to get there. We can’t get there if the QB are hitting quick strikes to the receivers. It goes both ways, they both have to do their job.

Bucs will never have a pass rush with tinker bell 93 on the line. We have been waiting a decade for tinker bells break out season or for that matter a single break out game. Hopefully she just ends up on IR sooner than later. It’s the only hope this dline has. Oh and fanboys don’t forget to watch your failed super hero get mauled in run game when he’s not mailing it in.

Barber and lynch won a pathetic 5 playoff games as bucaneers hardly role models

If Brees gets pumped up any bigger he’s gonna pop. Deflate the Saints QB!

John Lynch made 9 Pro Bowls and had only 1 Super Bowl ring. Ronde Barber made 5 Pro Bowls, was a 3 time All-Pro and had only 1 Super Bowl ring. Jason Pierre-Paul has made only 2 Pro Bowls and has only 1 Super Bowl ring. Gerald McCoy has made 6 Pro Bowls, is only a 3 time All-Pro and has no Super Bowl ring.
Their peers and their fans were/are mistaken. I guess you could call all of them “marshmallows”.
Stats are for losers. Bucs, 5-11 in 2018. Wreak havoc? What a joke!
