Apocalypse of a season predicted

This task of picking each and every game of the NFL season is starting to become a fad.

Many are piling on what was once thought to be a thankless, laborious task. The latest comes from Tadd Haislop of Sporting News and Bucs fans might want to swallow a handful of Prozac before reading the following.

Haislop predicts a complete and total doomsday season for the Bucs where they finish 1-15.

While Jameis Winston’s three-game suspension to start the season is not ideal, the fact of the matter is Tampa Bay would not have been favored in any of its first three games, anyway. Coach Dirk Koetter is running out of time to get his team moving in the right direction in the standings. Some key additions on the defensive line will make the Bucs tough on that side of the ball. Offensively, especially considering Winston’s issues, the Bucs could use a breakout rookie season from second-round RB Ronald Jones.

Well, the Bucs have the passing game and should be better at rushing. If the defense is improved as Haislop suggests, then how in the world does he envision the Bucs becoming four games worse than their awful record last year?

Joe can just about assure folks that if the Bucs go 1-15 this season, there will be a housecleaning.

is it house cleaning or is it simply the incomponent glazers getting rid old bums to bring in new bums to keep the basement streak alive! glazers clearly have no clue how to run a professional sports franchise and clearly have NO intentions of fielding a respectable product. Lucky for the glazers the buc fan base has incredibly low standards and still worships underachieving has beens and their pathetic 5 playoff wins during the underachieving years.

  2. Andrew Says:

Screenshot this and tweet it at him after the season. Idiots like this shouldn’t write.

    Probably has 49ers with 12-4

  3. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

The DL SHOULD be better, i think C davis will be a player, but the backend is a huge question mark. The running game is a question mark & the OL seems like its an injured ? mark. Falcons, Saints, Panthers all have super bowl caliber defenses up against the bucs questionable OL, not great for success

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

If we finish 1-15….we will have new coaches and a new QB….for sure….

There is no way (and you can call me out if I’m wrong)…..no way we go 1-15.

  5. Walter Seidel Says:

He’s calling Winston irrelevant (on the field).

  6. Tom Edrington Says:

1-15? Wow, even Debbie Downer wouldn’t go for that…..

Gotta be at least six wins in there somewhere, as for all the 12-4 predictions….can’t find that many if everything went perfect in every game and not even a sprained ankle by anyone all season.

  7. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

    Walter Seidel

bucs have been irrelevant long before winston. Outside of gruden’s glory year and mckay’s run the bucs have been irrelevant pretenders especially under dungy the clown.

  8. Bucsfanman Says:

We’re the flavor of the week guys! Last year we were the darlings and we crapped our self! Since historically we are a bad football team, why would anyone predict otherwise?
This is akin to predicting that water will be wet. Until it is otherwise, that’s what we’re going to get.
I agree with TBBF though. No way are we going 1-15, NO WAY!

  9. The Buc Realist Says:

Great draft pick to get the “new” face of the franchise QB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Pete I Says:

1-15 is nonsense, I also believe 2-14 is nonsense. 6-10 NOT nonsense.

  11. Walter Seidel Says:

But Winston IS relevant off the field. And in the locker room. And in the fan base. And in the press.

  12. buccanstopit Says:

and all the naysayers said the Rays would lose 100 games, 8 to
    10 win team

  13. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

They need to post hard copies of their article ALL over the locker room. If that doesn’t fire the team up, NOTHING will. As always for the Bucs, the preseason will show ALOT!

  14. DBS Says:

To early to predict anything. Teams are already losing players and preseason is not even over yet. They are being lost just in practice. They will be injured and lost during the season. So let them pedict what ever they want. It’s one game at a time. After watching last night this new helmet rule could decide a game.

  15. Alanbucsfan Says:

    Means absolutely NOTHING..
All of this guy’s predictions for 2017 were wrong except for Pittsburgh in AFC North – really a waste of time, Joe

  16. LargoBuc Says:

1-15? Browns, Skins ang 9ers all at home. Thats should be 3 wins right there. Cincy and Baltimore are average. We will steal at least one divisional game too. No way we go 1-15. We have issues but no way are we the worst team in the league.

  17. ARGH_M8E Says:

PLAY FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!! It’s FOOTBALL!!! It’s not rocket surgery! Get it together and shock all the doubters. You have to play the game, predictions like this are ludicrous.

  18. Pickgrin Says:

    1-15????

Bath Salts are BAD – mkay?

  19. Bobby M. Says:

Predicting 1-15 is for nothing but clicks and shares…..I think another losing season is a fair possibility….We have a tough start, tough division, suspended QB, defense with no chemistry, coaches on the hot seat, o-line is improved but still suspect…..there’s plenty of hurdles that with a few bad breaks could derail our season but 1-15 is incompetent. We would have to be down to Griffin at QB, Simms at RB…all rookies in the secondary….and 2+ injuries on the o-line.

I will say this…no matter our record, if Winston comes back losing the first few games he starts, the season is over. Folks like to count Chicago as a win….Last year Winston couldn’t outscore Brett Hudley/Packers with our defense playing lights out the majority of the game. There are no gimmes in the NFL.

  20. feelthepewterpower Says:

Asinine. He admits the Buccs have improved up front but gives us a wretched record.

  21. Walter Seidel Says:

    “Rocket surgery”???? LOL

  22. Not there yet Says:

Ignorant just simply ignorant considering we won 5 games with the worst defense in the NFL. Not even Raheem and Lovie were able to accomplish that. Tennessee ready for 15 weeks?

  23. Billy_43 Says:

I wonder what he says after we beat NO in week 1

  24. 813bucboi Says:

I have no faith in this staff….

with that said, I doubt they go 1-15….

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  25. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Click my name to see my opinion of the Sporting News Article.

  26. D-Rome Says:

That’s absurd! There would have to be a catastrophic loss on the staff somewhere, like losing your offensive or defensive coordinator prior to the start of the season, for the Bucs to be that bad. The Bucs are a better team than last year, I just don’t think they are much better.

  27. Eric Says:

The “Atlanta Rejects” coaching staff will get us somewhere between 6-10 and 8-8.

But somehow “man of nine lives” Jason will survive it and convince the Glazer Boys that everything is on track.

  28. Steven007 Says:

    Nice job Bonzai.

  29. Syl Says:

I have come to the conclusion that none of the national folks actually watched Tampa Bay play.

  30. Buc1987 Says:

Tmax…..Walter was a 12 year season ticket holder until the 2015 draft.

Of COURSE he knows the Bucs have been irrelevant ….FOREVER.

Don’t most of his posts suggest that????

  31. Pickgrin Says:

Not bad Bonzai – although “the offensive line has been repaired” is more hope than “fact” at this point I’d say.

Sorry to nitpick but I can’t help it – you wrote “won” instead of “one” twice in a row – and dual instead of “duo” in describing the TEs… spellcheck won’t pick up stuff like that but a close re-read before “publishing” should have.

Mostly all good points you made – but it’s easier to just attribute this “prediction” to my bath salts meets darts theory than go to all the trouble of trying to “correct” an idiotic opinion like this.

  32. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Since this season will hinge upon the destructive nature of our new defense line.
Why not make Oakland an offer they can’t refuse for Khalil Mack?

RDE Khalll Mack | Vinny Curry
RDT Beau Allen | Vita Vea
LDT Gerald McCoy | Mitch Unrein
LDE Jason Pierre-Paul | Noah Spence

  33. Pickgrin Says:

Why not make Oakland an offer they can’t refuse for Khalil Mack?

Cmon LUV – you know we can’t afford Mack…

  34. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

I say this with 0% hyperbole.

There is a better chance the Bucs go 13-3 than we go 1-15. Unreal

  35. D-Rome Says:

Tmax…..Walter was a 12 year season ticket holder until the 2015 draft.

Who are you talking to? Did you just confirm that tmaxcon is posting under another name?

  36. Defense Rules Says:

Joe just gave this pie-hole exactly what he was looking for … publicity. Like Bobby M. said … “Predicting 1-15 is for nothing but clicks and shares.” The only thing it accomplished is to get JBFers fired up … even the always-negative ones didn’t agree with this guy.

    Hi tmaxcon!

  38. Buccfan37 Says:

That’s a high slop joke of a prediction.

  39. Ed Says:

Everything must be predicated on two main factors time of possession which has hurt this team because it’s defense is always on the field and getting pressure on opposing Opposing quarterbacks Which can create fumbles and interceptions and shorter field. If they can be successful and greatly improve in those areas than a .500 or slightly better season is in reach.

If the Opposingquarterbacks continue to have all day to pass the ball and the offense continues not to score points in the first half a four win season is highly likely
