“I Just Want To Get Back With My Team”

August 31st, 2018

Talks about return.

So as America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, left his locker at the Den of Depression Thursday night, he won’t see that place for nearly two months.

On Saturday, Jameis begins serving his three-week sentence handed down by NFL strongman Roger Goodell. After the sentence is served, the Bucs have two road games sandwiched around a bye week before the Bucs host the Browns Oct. 21 when Jameis will next return to the stadium.

“Working really hard and getting ready for Week 4,” Jameis would only say of his plans during his involuntary sabbatical. “It is a tough situation. So I am just going to be working my tail off to get back with the team.

“Who knows how things will go? Hopefully, they will go great.”

Bucs coach Dirk Koetter wouldn’t say much about Jameis’ early-season absence, other than saying the team has zero option but to be ready to play without Jameis.

“Well, we’ve got no choice. I mean, we have no choice,” Koetter said. “You know, that’s the cards that were dealt. So that’s what he have to do. That’s just life in the NFL.”

All Bucs backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has to do is find a way to steal a win. If the Bucs go 0-3, which so many people expect, well, Joe really doesn’t want to think of the mudslide that will take place if that happens.

Watch more of Jameis in the video below shot by Jenna Laine of ESPN.

  1. Bucsfanman Says:

While the talent level is clearly different between the QBs, the expectations for Fitzy and this TEAM should be more than “stealing a win”. We have what should be enviable talent at most of the skill positions.
If we lose 3 games, it’s not because of talent, it’ll be because of coaching.

  2. stpetebucsfan Says:

Koetter is correct. We’ll play the hand we were dealt and move on.

I hope this doesn’t trigger another round of “whataboutism’ and how horrible society has treated poor Jameis.

Instead of whining, how about looking for the good in this suspension which IMHO could be significant. Again as a pampered spoiled athlete JW has never really been called to account. Jameis has seen nothing but enablers. Now he’s truly suffered some serious consequences. I think it has affected him on and off the field in a very positive way.

Instead of beotching anymore we just need to move on and take the GOOD with the bad and again there is good within this story if JW has finally learned his lesson. At least from outward appearances he has.

  3. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

    Bucsfanman

Bucs have decent receiver talent with djax, evans and Godwin outside of that position group please clue us in on the rest of the so called talent. The dline is mentally weak and soft, oline is 100% u
GARBAGE, unproven RB, a journeyman bum starting at qb, the worst secondary in nfl, overrated NON-Tackling lb’s.. so please fill me in on this mysterious talent you dream of.

  4. miken Says:

pretty good camp. Sucks Spence and RoJo looked so bad and wish we were headed to New Orleans with a healthy Jameis, Mitch and Vita but here we go.

  5. Dooshlarue Says:

There’s a lot to like about this team.
We’re not world beaters yet but I’m confident we’ll be vastly improved and much more competitive this year.

Dare I say…… fun to watch?
    Go Bucs!

  6. adam from ny Says:

    #MoreTimeOffMeans #SnaggleThatPussJameis

  7. Wausa Says:

Bucs will miss Jamies, But hopefully FItz still has a little magic left to win a game or two.

  8. Walter Seidel Says:

Hey Jameis…..how’s Darby and Banks doing? Great time to catch up with them!

  9. 1sparkybuc Says:

Walter is a proud graduate of Donald J. Trump University.

  10. T in Orlando Says:

2 months? Joe, you reported earlier that it would be 24 days.

  11. Joe Says:

2 months? Joe, you reported earlier that it would be 24 days.

Home game. Jameis won’t be back at the Den of Depression for nearly two months. Look at today’s date and look when the next home game is when Jameis is eligible to play. It is all spelled out in the second paragraph.

  12. 813bucboi Says:

    no excuses!!!!!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  13. stpetebucsfan Says:

    @Doosh

YES dare to say it. This team could be fun to watch and that’s all that really counts…obviously some W’s would make them even more fun to watch but I believe we are going to see some of those as well.

There is PLENTY of room for positivity on this site…so glad to read your post.

  14. Bucsfanman Says:

RiaB- “skill positions”= WR, TE, RB (?)
I think even YOU cannot deny that we have talent on that side of the football. Now, the o-line could use a player or two so there’s no argument there.
On defense, I’ll reserve judgement until we start playing some games. BUT, in theory,we can’t possibly be worse than we were last year! By default, that equals improvement!!! LOL!

Dare to dream my friend, dare to dream!

  15. T in Orlando Says:

    My bad

  16. stpetebucsfan Says:

“Dare to dream my friend, dare to dream!”

Amen Bucsfanman! Yeah the season hasn’t even started but we have enough people here who seem to take pleasure in crushing our dreams.

I do not get it. NOBODY knows how this season will turn out. We had a thread yesterday pointing out the dismal record of ALL prognisticators.

And so those of us who dare to dream MAY get the last laugh.

Those negative nellies will not. If the Bucs lay an egg they will not be lauded for their football IQ because they are simply parroting the common thought right now among those who are NOT Buc fans.

  17. Walter Seidel Says:

1sparky…..I like that you choose to talk about (i.e. attempt to denigrate) me, instead of Winston, the subject matter of this article. But I don’t mind. Only foolish words are spoken by foolish people.

  18. Defense Rules Says:

@Joe … ” If the Bucs go 0-3, which so many people expect, well, Joe really doesn’t want to think of the mudslide that will take place if that happens.” Great line Joe. VERY negative in its’ outlook, but correct … a 0-3 start very likely screws us for the year. But as StPete said, you play the hand your dealt (and no, we won’t talk about where that hand has been).

Hopefully however, the Bucs are in good enough physical condition at the start of the year to more than hold their own without Jameis. OLine needs to REALLY stand up & be counted (still too many weaknesses there), but more importantly our DEFENSE needs to play lights out. We’re facing THREE offensive juggernauts in the first 3 weeks of the season; it’s our DEFENSE that’ll make the biggest difference IMO. Personally don’t expect our offense to average much better than 21 PPG to start the year, meaning that our defense will need to come out of the starting gate on fire, holding adversaries to 20 or fewer PPG. IF we can do that, I think we’ll have a decent chance to go 2-1 to start the season. Only time will tell. Git er done Bucs … turn the dogs loose & let’s see what happens.

  19. Buccfan37 Says:

NFL like the police state, step out of line they come take you away.

  20. Bucsfanman Says:

stpete- It’s going to be so much fun WHEN, not if, the Bucs turn this thing around.
Think about this: Remove the offense entirely from the picture. If we had a competent kicker last year, we win at least 2 more games. If we had a below-average-average defense, we win another 3 games. Take into account that we have better talent THIS year.
We’re Bucs fans so we get crotch-kicked every year! HOWEVER, how can anyone not be excited about this team?!

  21. Jim Says:

Well our QB for the time being is Fitz and he deserves our support. But instead it’s “bum”, “poop” and “garbage”. For some reason these “fans” don’t qualify as “Haters”, but I guess we have Bucs fans and then we have Jameis fans…

  22. Knoxville Buc Fan Says:

I’m calling it right here on the last day of August, Griffin will come off the bench at the start of the 2nd half and will perform flawlessly against the Saints and pull off a upset in a dramatic come from behind victory! Fitz is good for 2 picks in the first half of that game to sit him down. #4 will guide your Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a 3-1 record before handing it over to JW after the bye. Prepare the best you can mentally JW for the remaining 12 games cause #4 will provide a easy path for the G~boys in their decision making wether to hang your pic back out there on the side of Ray Jay and to dip deep in daddy’s nest egg he built for them if you come off the couch just groping yourself.

  23. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Hey Walter Ziegheil hows David Duke been doing? I know you guys are pals!

  24. reality-is-a-beotch Says:

reality is not negativity ladies and gentlemen. RB is unproven and very very scary after undrafted Peyton Barber who has never been a primary ball carrier so yes we can dream. TE Brate is solid but not flashy and OJ is unproven. dreaming of a breakout maybe more appropriate than handing out another free pass… this team has choked and been hyped every year, yet they choke the season away by week 4. stop with the free passes and make these losers earn respect on the field not free passes on blogs. pie in the sky optimism and its handicapped cousin liberalism is far closer to delusionality than reality. earn it on the field losers simple as that…

  25. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

No Jim there are not Buc fans then Jameis fans. We are Jameis fans because we are Bucs fans first. Contrary to you peoples popular belief if Jameis had been hot garbage the last 3 years we all would be saying jettison him but he hasn’t been. He’s done done questionable things on and off the field, a little crazy at times and a little off putting but also has done some great things on and off the field. Unlike you moral majority we don’t harp on the bad because hey, we have enough Debbie downers up here to do that for us. We see he’s not the only one losing these games something you people want us to believe he is. We see he is getting better every year you don’t. We saw him have the best preseason ever and clowns make excuses so they don’t have to compliment him. These people have their own agenda not caring Jameis gives us the best chance to win now and in the future, and no it’s not because we’re all FSU fans I don’t even like college football so please get over yourself

  26. i like gunslingers Says:

out the gate 2-1 beat the saints, beat the eagles, lose a close one to steelers, fitz plays against chicago, wins again, 3-1 jameis comes back after the bye and lights it up goes 5-0 every body on board, head into second half of season 8-1 and leading our division, NFL flexes our divisional games to prime time, defense melts down, we have a 4 game skid tied with atlanta for 1st in our division at 8-5 three games to go we take 2 outa 3 lose tie breaker to atlanta, end up 10-6 and wildcard playoff berth, face them damn eagles, we own the tiebreaker and they play in tampa bucs win, travel to atlanta for divisional game, defense melts down again bucs lose, 38- 27 mike smith fired, buckner promoted to coordinater, a man has to have his dreams right, oh the pigskin predictions, we all have em

  27. reality-is-a-beotch Says:

hey joe, how about tossing a bone to the fools from the heartless Glennon mob. What’s the chance of Glennon not making the Cardinals? is it 50/50 at best…

I’ll give 8 credit for cashing checks in Chicago.

Not long ago you fools cried he was the savior of the bucs and who was unfairly treated by all… LOL… I must admit the defense and excuses were some of the most entertaining times on JBF… But the question is, How did all those BS excuses and justification for failure turnout for you – LOL what a bum just like I stated for years… He did exactly what I said he would do and that was SUCK!

tickdr – how’d all that Glennon math work out for you????

  28. Joe Says:

hey joe, how about tossing a bone to the fools from the heartless Glennon mob. What’s the chance of Glennon not making the Cardinals? is it 50/50 at best…

Reports are the Cardinals are shopping him.

  29. Bucsfanman Says:

RiaB- There aren’t any free passes. If this team does not make it to the playoffs, EVERYONE is done. That’s reality!
So, to your point, heck yea they need to prove it on the field! Being optimistic is not delusional it’s FANATICAL!!!! Yes, I am guilty!
BTW, I’ve freeze-dried some crow for freshness so that there’s enough to go around! I don’t want to be short when the plate comes around to YOU!!! 🙂

  30. Trench War Says:

Jameis better play lights out football when he comes back. If he plays with his gunslinger ways and we lose because of him, then his bank account won’t swell as big as any top 10 QB. In fact, he maybe moving on if the Glazers decide to clean house at the end, and a new HC is brought in.

  31. reality-is-a-beotch Says:

Reports are the Cardinals are shopping him.

some desperate team will take a chance on him. hell bradford is making 20 million

  32. jmarkbuc Says:

No Jim there are not Buc fans then Jameis fans.

Contrary to you peoples popular belief

    Contradict much?

  33. Trench War Says:

    reality-is-a-beotch

yeah, you’re probably one of those sucka’s lol

  34. DBS Says:

What’s the chance tmax will get his name back. Tomorrow is September 1st. But he has violated joes’s cooler policy. Isn’t that right riab????

  35. reality-is-a-beotch Says:

WHEN not if the bucs win another basement title, the public should have a vote on cleaning the house of Glazers… They are the incompetent ones. How many coaches and front office staffs do they get to miss on before being held accountable publicly. Can’t strip their ownership unfortunately but there has to be some crackpot attorney out there that can sue them for negligence for the embarrassing on-field product.

  36. reality-is-a-beotch Says:

    Trench War

no sir. I would not make that mistake. I hated the heartless Glennon the moment he was picked. it was a mistake. you can’t win with a qb with no heart.

  37. Bucsfanman Says:

RiaB- I can’t disagree about ownership other than to say that even a broke clock is right twice a day. Maybe they’ve bungled their bungling to the point where a dynasty emerges! We can dream!
    16-0! I’m not even drinking………YET!

  38. Walter Seidel Says:

DavidBigBucsAss…..ugh, not even worth replying. See “foolish people” above.

  39. Godeep66 Says:

    @jim. You are spot on.

@davehepherlarda—: you are a cowardly snowflake.

****And by the way: do you ever notice that when Jay W is been spoken to and returns the conversation, that he never looks them in the eye. I’ve gone back and looked at several videos (but now davehephers home videos) and notice in all of them they he cannot make eye contact with the person he is speaking with. This should be very alarming to all of us, as it is a telling sign of mental illness. Anxiety being one. Social distrust is another. But even more troublesome is what many medical journals have documented:
    How Autism Is Diagnosed
“Lack of eye contact” is one of many criteria used by doctors to diagnose autism. It shouldn’t suggest that a person who is unable to look others in the eye is inherently autistic.

Google it guys. It will blow your mind. I think we can fix this kid if he gets the right help.

  40. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

    Godeep66
All you need is one more 6 and it will show you for who you really are…you nor Walter know anything about Jameis…
But your statements say more about you than Jameis!

  41. oar Says:

Better call Jameis a Waaam-bulance. I know Just keep you’re hands on the footballs…er never mind I know you have a hard time with that too.

  42. jmarkbuc Says:

    Godeep

I have no great love for JW but,
You are treading in territory you shouldn’t be in..

Leave your half-assed diagnosis off this website. You don’t know WTF you’re talking about. Take it from someone who does.

  43. Godeep66 Says:

@jmarkbuc: I am only trying to help. Not sure if you recall but there was a recent TV shoe (Carribean Life) in which a person watching the show noticed a lump on the ladies throat. She then called he Oncologist and eventually was able to reach the Lady. Long story short, they caught the cancer in time. We can save this kid from himself as well. I feel confident if he were properly evaluated they could get him some meds for his condition. This would result in improved play and decision making on the field.

  44. jmarkbuc Says:

    Autism isn’t cured with meds…

The more you talk the more idiotic you sound..

You wanna trash JW and the Bucs? Be my guest. Stick to what you know. Not what you have no idea about.

  45. stpetebucsfan Says:

Last year Jameis only played 13 games. And some of the games he DID play it was clear his shoulder bothered him.

Better FG kicker…Jameis with a healthy arm…JW playing the best ball of his career the final five games of the season including the dramatic win over the Saints with NOTHING on the line but pride and perhaps Koetter’s job…why is it so hard to believe in this team?

Do we think JPP is not the real deal? What if Cappa and Benenoch turn out to be serviceable OL? Barber has looked excellent this year!!! What if we have a running game?

And please…somebody still questions OJ’s ability…that he hasn’t proven himself…what games are you watching?

And can somebody like Luv or Pickgrin who watch such things tell me how OJ’s blocking is going? Is he all that he was advertised as a blocker? I’m the typical shallow fan who watches the ball too much instead of more attention on the trenches.

  46. Jim Says:

So David, not supporting Fitz while calling him “garbage”, “poop” and a “bum” is OK, because…?

  47. Godeep66 Says:

@Jim: snowflakes like David tend to melt if your view does not fit their narrative. I would like to wish them a happy Labor Day weekend but most of them don’t hold a job.

  48. Walter Seidel Says:

Nole4Jaboo…….unfortunately for you, and all the Winston apologists, EVERYONE knows EVERYTHING about Winston. Sooooo, wanna try again, pal? (Always interesting that guys like this Nole4Jaboo attacks other fans who question the character of a man whose actions demand questioning).

  49. Pickgrin Says:

    spbf –

Howard’s blocking is coming along just fine. On a pretty good # of plays – OJ’s blocking is stellar. Sometimes he doesn’t quite get the job done – so consistency is lacking a bit. For a 2nd year 245 lb TE – OJ Howard is a very good blocker who will only get better.

Put it this way – he’s a better blocker today than all the “big name” TEs in the league – many of whom are primarily used as large target pass catching specialists. OJ can make plays 20, 30 yards down field too. His capabilities to do BOTH well is what makes the young man a special player.

  50. stpetebucsfan Says:

    THX Pick.

  51. Godeep66 Says:

    Spot on Walter
