Another Injury Leads To Bucs Launching 2017 Seventh-Round Pick

August 16th, 2018

Done

The Buccaneers’ brass was high-fiving and partying like rockstars when they drafted O.J. Howard in the first round last year.

And there were even quieter fist bumps and arm bars two days later when they scored a defensive tackle they wanted in the seventh round.

That unique beast out of Southern California, 27-year-old Stevie Tu’ikolovatu, was waived injured today by Tampa Bay, ending his Bucs career that never really started.

“Stevie T” suffered a season-ending injury last year in training camp and returned healthy this season.

Man, the Bucs haven’t struck gold in the seventh round since former Bucs rockstar general manager Mark Dominik scored safety Cody Grimm, linebacker Dekoda Watson and fullback Erik Lorig in Round 7 back in 2010. Those three got a load of playing time as rookies, including making 11 total starts for a 10-6 team.

Watson, 30, is still grinding as a well-paid special teams ace for the 49ers.

I hear the wasted 2nd round kicker pick from two years ago will make the Chargers lineup. This GM sucks. Picked a RB (RJones) this year who is a human fumbling machine. Can you imagine him in the backfield with the America’s turnover Machine JW.

  2. Anonymous Says:

Wanna bet he’s back on the PS when the dust settles?

  3. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @Godeep66,

Yeah, because GM’s never make mistakes, right? Seriously, why are you even on this site? Is your life really that bad?

  4. Waterboy Says:

Maybe they should bring Mark Dominik back 1 week out of every year with the sole purpose of selecting the 7th rd draft pick. 🙂

  5. The Buc Realist Says:

    That’s gold???????????

With gold like that, no wonder he only has a part time radio job even thought he has begged for any front office job in the league!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Pickgrin Says:

Stevie T and Joey Iosefa are the only two 7th rd picks Licht has made in 5 drafts.

7th rd picks have about a 10% – maybe 15% chance of making it in the NFL.

Good Luck in your future endeavors Stevie T

    Try to Licht-en up man!

  8. AlteredEgo Says:

I always thought the Bucs FO put him on IR rather than cut him last year as gesture of gesture of generosity , as he is a good human with a good story… gave him a little more time to see if there was anything there then let him go . For a guy living in a van chasing his dream the Glazers gave him a financial leg up on life

  9. BucfaninMi Says:

That sucks! I was hoping he’d turn out to be a steal and end up at least a good solid DL for awhile.

  10. Joel Says:

Injuries and more injuries. Year after year.

    It’s not a coincidence.

Not all training and medical staffs are equal.

    We have the worst.

  11. SB Says:

Left, right, left right you’re toothless!!
Nice jab at the Dominick haters Joe!
    🙂

  12. SB Says:

I think Only injuries can derail our season this yr. Seeing as we have one of the youngest team in the NFL that shouldn’t be as much of a concern hopefully.

  13. Mike Says:

Dekoda watson should have never been cut

  14. Dooshlarue Says:

    Joel

I feel the same way. It seems like our guys get a lot of BS injuries every season.
How about more stretching and less weight lifting?

  16. unbelievable Says:

Agreed pickgrin and Joel- I’ve thought our training / medical staff has been suspect for years

  17. buddy Says:

Vita Vea 1.0, so how did that fat outta shape DT from California/Utah with Pacific Island roots work out for the ol’ Buccaneers. LOLOLOLOL Next will be Vita Charmin Vea.

  18. DB55 Says:

Speaking of former dline-men did I just see Adrian Clayborn on the Patriots team strip sacking Nick Foles? But but Adrian Clayborn is trash no? He’s the reason McIceCream has never reached his full potential no? I’m confused, he balled in ATL and already making an impact with NE. Add that to Curry’s statement of finesse and how it’s effecting Curry’s own game then maybe you can conclude that it not EVERYBODY else around McIceCream maybe just maybe its McIceCream. Just a thought but wtfdik!

I’d hate to share a foxhole with most of you during the initial stages World War II, in North Africa. “Eisenhower sucks. Our Colonel needs to be fired immediately. FDR is a bum and Patton doesn’t know which way is up. We always get shot, never get a break and Rommel’s guys will kill us in week 1.”

I think if I had to take a daily dose of your negativity, I’d …
Never mind, most of you don’t have a clue to to these historical references, so I’ll leave by saying that your trepidatious approach to a season that has yet to begin is tiresome. If you hate this team so much, why watch or care?

  20. ATLBuc Says:

Nick Foles just injured his throwing shoulder

  21. Godeep66 Says:

I can be positive. I am positive the Bucs will have a losing season if America’s Short Yellow Bus QB starts game 4. Half of his passes on practice have been high or overthrown and he cannot even take a snap from center without fumbling. Makes you wonder if he is groping the center.

How? Adrian Clayborn strip sack for a TD.

Buc fans: wish we had a effective pass rusher.

  23. SOEbuc Says:

Ughhhhh. I know there’s all this first amendment freedom to speak crap in the NFL right now but can you ban all the haters Joe? Talking crap about the past and now there’s even ppl being positive at first and just crash into the ground at the end. KEEP FAITH IN THE BUCS IF YOU’RE GONNA BE A MEMBER OF A BUCS FANS WEBSITE!!!!

  24. Anonymous Says:

7th round pick not making the squad. Shocking. Wasn’t Dalvin Cook available in the 7th? Some of you “fans” are morons.

  25. SOEbuc Says:

BAN ALL THE NEGATIVE NANCY’S AND BANDWAGON FANS JOE!!!! Tell em to take a knee and shut the hell up.

  26. GrudenForPresident Says:

    @godeep66

Human fumbling machine? boy i hope youre not as dumb as your comment or youre gonna have a rough go at it in life lol. ROJO has 2 career fumbles in college and 1 fumble for a loss. Nice try bud but youre gonna have to go troll somewhere else with your made up facts lmao!!

  27. Bucamania Says:

    Godeep66 you fool.

Rojo only had 1 fumble last year while amassing 1700+ yards and 20 TDs.

  28. GrudenForPresident Says:

Stevie T was gonna be nothing more then practice squad meat anyways so this doesnt affect our bottom line at all

  29. Doctor Stroud Says:

Before we praise Wang Chung-lovin’ ex-GM Mark Dominick for his 7th round picks, let’s pause to remember the dance hall days of all the draft busts when he was in charge of picking players in rounds 1 through 6. Now, you have my permission to Wang Chung tonight. You’re welcome!

  30. Trench War Says:

Licht is making room for upgrades. Stevie T wasn’t cutting it so why have him occupy a spot when there will be many other DT’s available as teams start cutting down their rosters. Loyalty to lesser talent will not make this team better. Better players make the team better. Stevie T has not made any development.

  31. Pryda... sec147 Says:

Stevie T bless him he will find a team no doubt. He once came to my restaurant with some random homeless dude he picked up from the street bought this guy a burger fries onion rings a milkshake a slice of pie. Bought him the same meal to go for a dinner later. Stevie T got a bunch of grilled shrimp. Great guy, good tipper.

  32. Trench War Says:

..also I’m all for fans speaking their minds and not group thinking but this Godeep character is an @ss plain and simple. I can be negative at times but also find the positives as well. This prick is just hateful. I bet he lives in a dungeon somewhere.

    ———/–/ Well said. Right on!!!

  34. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

The only morons on this site are those with hope…..

    Shout out to Bucs Realist

Patriots defensive end Adrian Clayborn beat tackle Halapoulivaati Vaitai off the left side and hit Foles

  35. Tampabaybucfan Says:

So glad to hear that Dominick did well drafting 7th rounders…..too bad he failed so miserably in rounds 1-6…..

What a sorry-a$$ excuse for a GM…..we are just now starting to recover from his ineptitude.

  36. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @DB55,

Clayborn got hurt in his second season. Tore the 3 main ligaments in his knee. He was never healthy again in Tampa. But I’m sure that was McCoy’s fault too.

  37. SB Says:

I already bet DestinJohnny a Jersey of choice that we go 9 and 7 or better and I will totally honor the wager. I will wait till after pre-season before I take more bets on the same level. Lots of people up here have little respect for the Bucs!
So far I have only been able to exploit them in Fantasy Football.

  38. JohnLynchBrokeMyBody47 Says:

…as if he had a shot of making the team to begin with… Kenny Bell of the ‘18 pre-season. Wish you well, Stevie! Moving on…

  39. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

SB I was with you until the last couple of days. Apparently Fitz was missing on passes to Evans today and ROJO is getting outplayed by an UDFA RB out of Duke. Looks like ROJO won’t be helpful this season, if ever, and that is a kick in the groin. Was hoping he would be our version of Kamari but from what I am hearing and reading he sucks so far.

  40. Greg Says:

He was about 340 and cant make it through camp 2 years in a row. Vita is 350 and hurt FIRST DAY of camp. Warren Sapp said it, you cant be that fat in Florida. Why is Jason Light soo thick headed about getting fat slow guys that cant catch a quarterback?

  41. Buccan8 Says:

Clayborn lol His best years were here, even when he missed half of them to injury! DB55–which year did he “ball out” in ATL? The one where he had 3 sacks, 4.5 sacks, or the one where he had 3.5 in 15 games? …with Vic Beasley on the other side?

We spent the entire time Clayborn was here wondering if he would have issues with his arm, he was hurt half the time, and he put better production on the field then than any time apart from *one* game in ATL—in THREE SEASONS!

You wouldn’t give McCoy credit for a single dominant game, but now Clayborn is all universe because of one dominant game in 4 years now? Anointing him as a real passrush threat in NE because of a preaseason game!

I haven’t figured out which is more entertaining: your mindless Bucs negativity or your penchant for adoring the coaches/players/decisions of what’s on the other side of the fence!

  42. Brandon Says:

He’s waived injured. That means IR or they they release him with a settlement. It usually doesn’t mean Good Bye.

  43. Buc1987 Says:

    Bucamania Says:

    “Godeep66 you fool.

Rojo only had 1 fumble last year while amassing 1700+ yards and 20 TDs”

Soon it might get the point that it should have already gotten to by now.

Peeps will just skip over his posts of ignorance and just not even read then.

    Like me.

  44. Blue-footed booby Says:

SB I am strongly considering taking on that bet. I would love to get a Buccaneers Justin Herbert or Jarrett Stidham or Shea Patterson jersey come 2019 after the inevitable trainwreck 2018 season that results in sweeping changes to coaching staff, front office, and of course the starting QB position.

  45. webster Says:

    @ db55

I dont think i have ever called you an idiot (i probably have), but you are an idiot. Claiborne? You are bashing the bucs for moving on from claiborne? Smdh. You are the same guy that bashed the bucs for cutting najee goode, steven means and a kicker that sucked as well. Claiborne was often injured with the bucs and he got injured during the falcons super bowl run a couple years ago. Stop it bro. I notice your stick is to sign off with but wtfdik? Based on most of your takes, you know not a d@mn thing.

  46. Defense Rules Says:

@Greg … “Why is Jason Light soo thick headed about getting fat slow guys that cant catch a quarterback?” Uhhh, Vea is lightning fast for a guy his size, and stayed reasonably healthy in college from what I read. I’m sure that it’ll take him awhile to get acclimated to our rather hot, humid summers here in sunny Florida though, just like it does everyone who experiences it for the first time. I can’t imagine what it must be like in the trenches going up against other 300 pound beasts play after play after play during training camp in the hot sun when the temps are close to 100 and the humidity is sky-high. Even with staying well-hydrated, it’s little wonder injuries happen to our DLine & OLine horses so frequently before we even play Game 1.

  47. Bucsfanman Says:

DB55- Clayborn had 13 total sacks in 4 years as a Buc. He played in 2 full season with 7.5 and 5.5 sacks respectively. In the exact same time frame (2011-2014) The “fragile” GMC played in 17 more games than Clayborn and registered 24 sacks.
Those are the facts. But as you always say “WTFDIK”?!
    Yes, it’s GMC’s fault! LOL!

Congrats to Clayborn for resurrecting his career.

  48. The Buc Realist Says:

OMG…… The sheep are still talking about BUST adriana slowborne????????? LOL!!!!!!! no wonder they cheered when obsolete loser lovie was hired!!!!!!! Because he will set all the scary talent free!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  49. TX Bucs fan Says:

I wish we knew what institution @godeep66 is sentenced to so we could have them revoke his internet privileges.

  50. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @Buc Realist,

I was wondering if what took you so long. And no, there’s only one person dumb enough to be crying at Clayborn. And he wonders why people don’t take him seriously lol.

  51. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I suspect Stevie Tu’ikolovatu will be back in training camp next year.

  52. Brett Says:

The Bucs meed to better job of developing their own players. Coach turnover hasn’t helped.
