Sapp Patrolling The Sidelines At Practice

July 31st, 2018

Bucs royalty

No. 99 wasn’t a guest coach today at Buccaneers practice, but he was on the sidelines and at times mingling with players during Day 5 of training camp.

Joe shot the photo above. A couple of Tampa Bay legends right there: Warren Sapp and Gene Deckerhoff.

Sapp was doing his usual big-talking thing. Joe realized Sapp was there because Joe heard him from 70 yards away, despite music thumping through practice and the usual sounds of football.

Joe saw Sapp engaging for a while with Mike Evans and especially DeSean Jackson, and Jackson shared with Joe his respect for the Hall of Famer after the session.

“Warren, yeah, that’s my guy. He’s a good dude,” Jackson said of Sapp. “Super Bowl guy, you know he’s won a Super Bowl so he has a lot of intelligence just about being a vet, being a guy that’s knowing what to do in this league and just go out there and better yourself every day working hard and putting it in.”

wonder if sapp still thinks this is the softest TC he’s seen…..Bucs should bring him in as an dline advisor…..make him buckner’s assistant…..

Real OGs right there. Real recognize real, ALWAYS!

Ahh the good ol days when men were men and ce cream melted in the stands not the 2 yard line with the game on the line.

  6. Pistol Pete Says:

Probably the very last guy you’d want around Jameis at this point.

  7. Godeep66 Says:

I hope they keep him away for JW. The dude was, and still is, a hell raiser. Sapp has got to be happy that social media was pretty much nonexistent back in his day. It was always good to see him at Sheppard’s on Sunday!!!!!

  8. rrsrq Says:

    Pistol Pete,

yeah why would you want Gene Deckerhoff around jameis, because I am sure he probably has thrown back a few by now. I don’t know if Deckerhoff even drinks, but I do listen to the radio broadcast and I am going to chalk it up to cocktails in the booth.

  9. unbelievable Says:

lol u guys crack me up.

  10. 813bucboi Says:

yall crazy….I want him around Winston to show him what a SB champ looks like…..

I also want him around Winston so jameis can see first hand what it looks like to be a great football player but a broke a$$hole that no one really gives 2 sh!ts about…..

I want him around Winston so jameis can see if he doesn’t get his sh!t together, he’ll be pawning his SB rings and trying to pull fast ones over thots(new lingo for you old heads…lol)…..

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!….GO BUCS!!!

  11. Mike Johnson Says:

My man Sapp look like he has dropped a few pounds. Bucs ought to make him an assistant. But knowin Sapp at this stage of his life, He’s not about the daily grind. Wish we had more players on the field like he once was.

  12. Architek Says:

    I miss winning.

  13. Dooshlarue Says:

Good pic Joe, but did DJax really use the word intelligent in the same sentence as Warren Sapp?

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Anyone know what “The Warren” is doing for money these days…..last I heard he was one step away from a homeless shelter…..

How can you not like Warren Sapp?……dude is alive in every respect……but, flawed like most of us….maybe just a bit more.

  15. lokog Says:

did sapp and buckner make eye contact?

  16. m0j0 Says:

One of the best to ever put on a Buc uniform!

  17. ben Says:

    SAPP=best buc player ever !

  18. stvcl Says:

My man Gene. I’ll sure miss that dude once he retires. Fire the cannons!

  19. Buc believer Says:

Bet Sapp can still wreak havoc in our D!! The guy is a grade A jerk to fans off the field… (he has dissed me more than a few times when I approached him and tried to just shake his hand ) but the guy was a baller and one of the BEST!!! and I miss him on our team!

  20. bubashep Says:

Warren Sapp. He’s an idiot – BUT he’s OUR idiot!!!

  21. Mbfists Says:

Gotta love Sapp as a player not so much respect for him as a man

  22. Jjones Says:

Yeah, Sapp should stay away from Jameis. The next thing you know Jameis is gonna be ordering hookers.

Somehow being called a troll is ok like bragging about where you did time. An entire generations of trolls talking about people who are better than you at life. You can make fun of Sapp sure but as long as football is alive so will his accomplishments. Go do something with your lives stop the trolling and hating, what you think is funny is just played and pathetic. Fans boys talking about him online but would love to have an autograph…. Undercover groupies 😁

Go bucs wish ronde and Donnie Abraham were out there. Lol get tanard Jackson to give a motivation speech to Winston

How do you even know our accomplishments or awards we’ve won in our own field of endeavor.

No doubt Sapp was a great football player. Who could dispute that? Some here believe he was great because he was a total aaaahole..a jerk…a requisite for being a great football player. So yeah Sapp was a great football player but not such a great human being.

Let’s contrast that with some other players to see if you REALLY need to be a jackwagon to be a good football player. Well Sapp is HOF so let’s just use that measuring stick.

Does anybody here deny that Derrick Brooks has been an exemplary human being? The Brooks Bunch…plenty of examples…and never on the police blotter or TMZ video.

How about our first HOFer. Leroy Selmon! What a great human being…we’ve actually named an expressway after him. Great guy and GREAT player.

So there it is. I rest my case. Being a jerk doesn’t prevent you from being a good football player…see Warren Sapp…but it’s far, far from a requisite..see Derrick Brooks AND Leroy Selmon. 2 out of 3 of our HOFers were truly class guys and always made me proud to cheer for them…long after their careers were over.

Wwweeelll… he got popped in college in the Free Shoes U stunt. Was suspended.

  26. Buc1987 Says:

    My man 99!

  27. Not there yet Says:

Yes my brother was a server back in the day at Bennigans and had a run in with Derrick Brooks, the kids was excited so asked for an autograph and let’s just say Brooks wasn’t all that happy about it. No he didn’t make a public spectacle like sap would be here could be just as big a deal hole as Sapp. People so into public perception. Brooks does not walk on water and your kind of stupid for thinking any player does

  28. JoebucsFlan Says:

    Dear DirecTV,
please give us an option to hear Derckerhoff call the game with the video feed.
    I would pay extra.

  29. adam from ny Says:

he’s there because he’s trying to convince gene to bring him into the booth as the color guy!…they make a cute couple…sapp rockin the bucs radio network would be insanity! – with gene and those so called cocktails mentioned above

  30. Armando Says:

I spoke with Deckerhoff at a wake unfortunately, he was extremely likeable and filled with stories.

  31. JWick Says:

Joe DB got popped in college….one time. Nothing compared to that p**** sapp, DB is a good dude
