Jameis, Wins And Trust

July 1st, 2018

Catching hell.

The biggest question that will hang over the Bucs through the summer, fall and winter will be what to do with America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

If the Bucs decide to keep Jameis, he will be due some $20.9 million for the 2019 season. (They can cut him without pay or salary cap considerations prior to the start of the 2019 league year in March.)

After learning Jameis lied about this hassle with an Uber driver in March 2016, Joe went on record suggesting Jameis is no leader. Leaders don’t pull those kind of stunts and leave their teammates to twist in the wind and quite possibly blow up an entire season, which very well could cost people jobs, destroy careers and uproot families.

The way Joe views Jameis has greatly changed as a result. And Joe is not alone.

On Friday, a guy Joe believes is a closet Bucs fan, “Good Morning, Football” co-host Peter Schrager, changed his view of Jameis as well. The popular weekday show host on NFL Network wouldn’t be shocked if the Bucs cut bait with Jameis. Too many things are piling up against the Bucs’ franchise quarterback, he said, and it’s not just off-field shenanigans.

“Jameis Winston is the face of an NFL franchise,” Schrager said. “Whether he did this or did that or the statements — I don’t care. There is enough going on where there is no other starting quarterback dealing with this. … Well, 18 wins, off-the-field incidents and it looks like a bit of trust was broken. … The wins aren’t there to justify from a playing standpoint. And if I can’t trust you, why am I paying you $25-30 million for? That’s the Buccaneers [predicament].”

Well, Joe is going to type something that is damn harsh but too bad. If the Bucs run off Jameis because of lack of wins — he had nine wins in 2016 in case people forget — then his own coaches and front office Pearl Harbored his days with the Bucs.

The defensive coaches (until they can prove otherwise) cannot coach young cornerbacks. As a result, the Bucs had a sieves for cornerbacks outside of Brent Grimes. And when Grimes was hurt, it was truly a horror show. It was so bad it actually turned comical. And of course, the Bucs ignored the bad coaching of young corners by drafting two more and not signing a veteran.

The offensive coaches are not innocent here either. They deluded themselves into thinking Muscle Hamster Doug Martin was a viable option to be a bellcow running back when even someone like Joe could see the guy was shot. Instead, Martin turned in the worst back-to-back seasons for yards-per-carry in the NFL since 1940! (That’s not a typo.)

The front office let Jameis down because it ignored defensive end, and banking on hurt players to be healthy until it was damned near too late, and still may be too late. Just beating your chest by signing warm bodies (or even cold bodies — stiffs) wasn’t solving the problem.

Last week Hall of Fame general manager Bill Polian, speaking specifically about Jameis on SiriusXM NFL Radio, said Jameis’ 40 percent winning percentage is “misleading” because the Bucs defense was so horrid and the run game was so pathetic.

If Jameis is going to be punted for going 3-10 last year with the defense choking away four fourth quarter leads and a rotten kicker throwing away another win, then there better be quite a few other people with the Bucs who don’t wear uniforms on fall Sundays joining him in line at U-Haul.

Last time Joe checked, Jameis wasn’t playing corner, wasn’t playing defensive end and he sure as hell wasn’t kicking.

    Cut him.

  2. AlteredEgo Says:

Give him the balance of the year after the suspension off with pay to get his personal and professional life together…..he needs a little time and distance for perspective and focus….I so want Jameis to be a success on and off the field…..IMO this is what is necessary both he and the franchise…..he will be embraced upon his return in 2019

    Joe,

Articles below you call out the Bucs for a mere 2 sentence statement on JW saying the fan base deserves better. Say we deserve better. Yet at least one of the Joes believes, without evidence, all he is guilty of is a “hassle” and, since none of us were there, no one knows what happened.

What statement would you have them make? ‘To our players, please stop hassling people’? ‘To our sponsors, we regret the hassle?’ ‘As there are no witnesses, we support Americas QB’? Which side of the fence are you on?
One thing has nothing to do with the other. The franchise QB was suspended and the NFL labeled him a sex offender. Joe’s choice of nouns has nothing to do with the team reaction to the angst of their fan base. –Joe

  4. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

When will we start talking …you know….FOOTBALL?

  5. JabooBuc Says:

I would agree with Joe in that JW’s on field performance numbers are very misleading. I do believe he has the talent to be an elite QB. However, he has demonstrated the off field maturity of a 6 year old and seems hell bent on self destruction.

In addition to the Uber thing, I believe the Eating W’s incident was a real setback. Joe, you would probably know better than any of us, but it seemed at that moment the team universally told JW to shut up and play ball. I would agree with you that he is no longer, if ever, a leader on this team and for that reason i believe they need to part ways.

  6. Sc Bucs fan Says:

Again joe, not to argue, but the NFL labels him a sex offender but you don’t, correct?

Not trying to be difficult, I love your blog.

  7. Marc Says:

The one and only, America’s Groper.

  8. Rob Says:

Vagamis cannot be trusted as the face of the Buccaneer franchise again. Cut him now and take your lumps. Start Fitz or whoever you can trade for and let the chips fall where they may. JW will never be the franchise qb we wanted him to be because of his lack of character and marketability, not his on the field football skills. It is possible to be an “alpha” without being an a$$hole. See Lee Roy Selmon and Derrick Brooks for examples. JW let everyone down. The Bucs gambled big time and lost. There is no happy ending for the Bucs or JW on this because everybody loses. Let’s see what kind of team we have without JW and if we suck, we start over and pick or trade for another starting quarterback. I don’t want to cheer for Winston ever again as a Buccaneer, he does not deserve it. Morality and ethics does matter to some people. I hope the Glazers are listening. Go Bucs!

  9. Onetrickpony Says:

25-30 mil to a man with questionable actions who is becoming a drama queen and has become a team distraction, liar, thief ,sneak ?
    Let me think about that….uh…..NO

  10. T REX Says:

Why wasn’t he on a zero tolerance policy after everything that happened at FSU.

Poor planning by the Glazers. Naive that he wouldn’t show his true colors.

This is bad bad bad. I don’t want him anywhere near my community, women or children. He needs to go away, permanently.

Human decency is important. He has none.

  11. The Buc Realist Says:

The setback of a franchise from a failed drafted QB only sets back the organization for years, because they keep trying to make it work for years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. Pete I Says:

Polian also made very clear America’s Choir Boy was a mediocre QB. JW has only been mediocre overall. Flashes of greatness with flashes of awfulness within mostly mediocrity. Throw in his off field rubbish and the damage he has done to the organization, nothing much to hang a hat on with JW.

  13. DILLIGAF Says:

The real tragedy here is what this is doing to our franchise…
    – taking the focus away from what needs to be done to right the ship, and win games
    – making our GM, front office, security investigators, and ownership look like fools (again) on a national scale
    – dividing and alienating the fan base even more than it already has

If the Hard Knocks production last season was even partially to blame for the massive step backwards, what result will this have on our chances this season?

This is ankther critical moment in franchise history…we are facing a very real possibility of having to completely rebuild our leadership staff if we do not put up a great season. This JW side show dramatically reduces our chances of having a winning season and the real tragedy in all of this is our fans may have to suffer though ankther chaotic rebuild. I hope we can put this behind us when it’s time to put on the pads and compete.

  14. Pete I Says:

Well Joe paints a real good picture of how awful the coaches have been. Koetter has not shown he is HC material so far. Dreadfully hard to be excited.

SPOT ON! The cute linguistic gymnastics the Joes like to use here only makes them look like buffoons.

  16. stpetebucsfan Says:

“When will we start talking …you know….FOOTBALL?”

BINGO! Now you get it. This will happen when Jameis is no longer a Buc.

It’s not about the sexual groping charge…although that adds salacious value far beyond the reality…it’s about lying to the Glazers and we fans. If I had known Jameis was going to do this I would have been totally against drafting him. I think the Glazers would have felt the same.

It’s about being out drunk out of your gourd partying with the guy who was the major witness in your rape defense and another guy out on appeal after being convicted of wait for it……RAPE.

And I respect AE’s call for Jameis to get a year off I just think from Jameis career perspective a better plan would be for him to get the Bucs to trade him to a team with an aging star…San Diego or LA or wherever the hell they are this week would be a great option…far from the anger here. NE might even be better. Jameis backs up the aging star for a year or two and then gets a chance to revive his career and probably on a pretty good team.

You can hate all day on the people who no longer love Jameis. That is NOT the issue. The issue is what is best for the Bucs and fans…and then what might be best for Jameis…as in a trade out of this market.

  17. Tampa Bay Galloping Gropers Says:

America’s Groping fumbler torpedoed the coaching career of Dirk Koetter in Tampa, Koetter never had a chance. America’s Groper had a mentor named Derrick Brooks that’s missing right now too.

  18. BrianBucs Says:

America’s Crotchgrabber and Liar should be cut immediately. He should NEVER have the honor of wearing a Bucs uniform again

  19. AlteredEgo Says:

Gosh….how my life may have been different if not becoming a Buc fan…….

  20. stpetebucsfan Says:

    Realist

That’s hyperbole. This doesn’t need to set us back at all. We unload Jameis…might get lucky and find a draft pick.

We still have a team…suddenly the onus shifts to the defense and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I’m an old AFL fan…I loved Darryl “Mad Bomber”
Dan Fouts…all the guys who aired it out. But hey if we have to switch back to winning with defense…so be it.

A lot easier to find the next Brad Johnson, Trent Dilfer, Flacco than it is to get a Peyton Manning.

  21. Bucs_Sam Says:

Joe seemed to talk numbers and forget about trust.

I believe if Joe’s girlfriend cheated on him with an Uber driver he’d pack her stuff regardless of her salary.

This isn’t an isolated incident for JW, this is the latest in now a track record.

How many strikes does this guy get? What’s your limit Joe, when are you going to realize the truth that everyone else had figured : JW may have a football mind and talent to match, but he also is of poor personal character and an immature kid not capable of the leadership role he’s in. How many 4th year QB leader start the season suspendid for personal conduct?

Gonna be yet another painful season. Tough knowing your out of playoffs before training camp.

  22. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

America’s Quarterback just needs to worry about his health when returning. No need to risk injury for this pansy arse fanbase and Mickey mouse organization. Im going to enjoy watching jameis win championships while the pathetic bucs fanbase makes excuses during another decade plus basement run. Jameis tampa does not deserve you.

  23. Rob Says:

Hey Reality. I wonder how you would feel if your sister/mom/aunt/niece (you get the point) was sexually assaulted by JW. And guess what you clueless POS, reality is a beotch. Just ask your favorite sexual assaulter. Go Bucs!

  24. T REX Says:

Tampa deserves better than a lying, cheating, groping, thieving, womanizing piece of trash.

  25. stpetebucsfan Says:

I just gotta say some of the posters here really make one wonder if testosterone eats brain cells?

In another life as a sportscaster in the Tri Cities I’m out on a Friday night to cover high school football. I have two young interns with me to help.

The conversations shifts to the solo nightclub in Bristol Va…actually another club but it played country. There was an incredibly hot girl from Virginai Intermont U who attended the club most weekends and surely enjoyed the fact that she was the belle of the ball.

Problem with some guys is that they feel entitled. So one of the kids in the back says about this girl how hot she was but what a beotch she was because she wasn’t giving it up to anybody. Then in disgusts he adds…”I’d like to grudge F her”. I said dude that’s not even funny!

Are woman not the same as us in terms of human rights..as in you don’t get to grudge F me and get away with it nor can you simply grab my privates. And for that we rip on the VICTIM. Jameis IS NOT THE VICTIM HERE! He made a series of horrible choices…pretty much his history…and went out and got blasted with Ron Darby and a convicted rapist. Really? How freaking stooooopid is that?

  26. Tc Says:

This will pass just like all things in life.

  27. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Jameis will be judged by the 12 or 13 games he plays in 2018……if he fails, he’s gone….if he wins….they sign him to a very team-friendly contract with all sorts of behavior clauses.

I am hoping we as fans will watch at least one game with Jameis at the helm and then decide how they feel about this going forward….If you find yourself rooting for him to fail…..then ok…..but if you are rooting for him to do well….you may be forgiving enough to go forward with him.

  28. ruggyup Says:

Unlike Schrader with his head in the sand saying, “I don’t, care”, I do care and I’m sick of this ‘America’s QB’ and ‘best Buc ever’ pandering to a suspect at best, questionable multi million $$$ allocation of resources for an aw shucks give the guy a break crap shoot on the very future of the franchise and the thousands who don’t renew their season tickets.

  29. csidedave Says:

Putting myself in the Glazers shoes, I see 3 options:

    1. Stay the course and tough it out. We believe that in Jameis and that he will be fine going forward.

    2. Some kind of interim solution such as a suspension for the rest of the season and/or a clear path for his “rehabilitation”.

    3. Release him and end the nightmare now. There has to be a lot of pressure on them from sponsors and suite holders. There could well be internal strife among the brothers and sister as well as their own convictions. Releasing him now brings an immediate end to the problem and they can claim the moral high ground. This, of course, creates a football problem but they may see it as easier to solve.

    Stay tuned.

  30. Capt.Tim Says:

    No.
    No.
The Bucs didnt ”just ignore the defense.”
The ignored the defense, because they have been stocking the Offense for Anus Jameis!!
I screamed my lungs out, that the Bucs kept ignoring DE. You cant do that.
But we all knew that the rest of the defense sufferred- to give Jameis all the weapons he needed to succeed.
Pro bowl RB, 2 Probowl WRs, Brate,Howard, and Auclair at TE.
    Long, talented Oline

The defense had excuseed for failing
The offense had no excuses. Yet it sucked badly too
Plus the distractions. Anus Jameis assaulting a Player, and trying to attack a Referee.
And the balls tossed up for grabs.

You can blame the defense for the team losing.
But its”Americas sex offender’s” fault that the offense sucked.

    Get rid of him

  31. Orlampa Turd Says:

If someone groped one of the Joe’s mothers by the P, I wonder if they would still regard the crime as a mere “hassle.”

  32. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

I bet you same losers ready to run jameis also go to church every damn Sunday. Rember just like sports that church with a foundation based in second chances and forgiveness is nothing more than a business. You cupcakes deserve each other hypocrites the lot of you.

  33. Sc Bucs fan Says:

TBBF I agree. Unless the mental strain of this breaks JW he stays and, in the long run, this is great for the Bucs as he signs for less then he would have received. It will blow over. More and worse bad news is always around the corner.

  34. Tc Says:

Why do we set jameis to a higher standard than the president?

  35. Sc Bucs fan Says:

TMax why so angry? And none of this no meaningful wins. Dude you have problems.

  36. Buddy Says:

What’s clear is that everyone and most of all Jameis needs to show up Big Time. I for one believe his life had already changed before this was finally settled. It was over 2 years ago and much has changed since then. He has a wife and a child on the way. It’s hard to believe that most of you don’t get what or how that changes someone. It changed me and for those who have lived it, I know it changed you.

Look, he has been trying hard to make up for it ever since. I mean take a good look at what he has been doing for the community. That’s got to be worth something. Plus, his nose has indeed “been clean” ever since a poor form, drunken pickup attempt.

I for one believe he is worked hard since to EARN “one more shot” to make this right for all of us. He has been working hard to fix this the best he can.

And by the way, Well said Joe

  37. JabooBuc Says:

Can we stop to the comparisons to the president? They are nothing alike. Jameis works for the Bucs and the NFL and they have rules. He violated those rules and was suspended.

Whatever Trump did or didn’t do happened on his own time while working for his own company. He was voted into office so people were given a choice.

JW could run for office now and, while not likely, win. One has nothing to do with the other so please make it stop.

  38. stpetebucsfan Says:

    SC Bucs fan…

I’m slow on the uptake so forgive me. Is realitythebeotch actually TMAX?

Here is what I don’t understand from TMAX, Reality and others here.

What pleasure does the name calling give you? Serious question not snark.

If you’re a secret Saints fan here just trolling us that at least makes sense…calling your opponents stupid names is traditional I guess.

But where is the pleasure in denigrating others simply because you do not agree with their point of view?

Do you morons who do that think that we who have brains give a rat’s arse about the opinion of hateful idiots? I must confess though you at least made me curious. What drives such stupid posting?

  39. Capt.Tim Says:

    Same team
Fitz is 2-1, Jameis is 3-10

“Americas sexual predator” is horrible at 3rd down conversations, and in the Red Zone.

Fitz won some games in New York, with a team that had half the offensive talent the Bucs do.
98% of the QBs in the league would think they were in Heaven- if the dropped back and saw Mike Evans, Desean Jackson, and Adam Humphries down field
Add in Brate, Howard, and Charles Sims- and most NFL backup QBs would be liting up the scoreboard!

    But not “Americas Gropper”.

We do not have a good QB. We definitely dont have one we can trust.
Yet another huge failure, for a team with a history of failure

  40. Bobby M. Says:

He also wasnt putting up 24 pts per game….gave the ball away 26 times in 12ish games all with a stacked offense. Fitzpatrick avg nearly 24 pts per game when he was in…..Winston was under 20. Same offense….same crappy defense.

  41. lightningbuc Says:

Second chances? So Ted Bundy and Charles Manson deserved second chances? I reserve second chances for a child who doesn’t obey or a restaurant where I had lousy service once – not SEXUAL ASSAULTERS. BTW – America’s Fingerer is on his THIRD chance.

  42. Orlampa Turd Says:

America’s Psychotic Menace to Society is already on his 5th or 6th chance since coming into the national spotlight 5 years ago.

  43. stpetebucsfan Says:

Ben Rapelisberger won an SB before his rape charges. He faced Rapelisberger signs and chants and jeers years after the charges.

This is what is ahead for poor Jameis. I hope Jameis go’s somewhere…sits a year or two behind an aging star…San Diego..NE….not NO because he’d really generate the fire for games with the Bucs….he needs a year to let all of this pass.

IF he comes back with the Bucs what will the stories be about after game three?
It won’t be pretty and most of all…IT WILL DIVIDE THE FAN BASE!

Just look at JBF the past few days to see proof of my statement. It’s already happening.

  44. Buddy Says:

Yeah, that’s what I believe. He should get one more shot. Really, Ted Bundy and Charles Manson? Thanks for the smile. That’s intense man. I mean you would be right if he did push past “No” and then ate her afterwards then that would be a fair enough statement. I’m laughing because that’s funny.

Some of you guys really need to relax. SMH

  45. JabooBuc Says:

Bobby M: Not sure how Fitz averaged 24 pts per game while he was in when the team scored 15, 30 and 20 in the 3 games he started.

Anyone thinking Fitz is the better QB needs their head examined. Even Fitz knows JW is better. However, Fitz is clearly the better man and that’s not even up for debate.

  46. Tc Says:

Why do we set jameis to a higher standard than the president? What do I say to the kids. The nfl holds a man who plays a game for a living more accountable than the leader of a country.

Proof that people don’t know a darn thing.

Google Bucs v Dolphins 2017. Click on the YouTube video that’s 7 mins long. What you’ll see is 2 highlights from Fitz in 7 mins. A def that kept the game tight. A 20-7 halftime lead that disappeared by the fourth qrt. A game winning fg with seconds left and finally a fail ko return that led to the last insignificant TD ending the game at 30-20.

Recap: Fitz 2 good passes, let’s call it 1.5. LVD and Grimes creating plays to keep the game close. The def giving up a 13 point lead to back-up Matt Moore after Cutler tried to give away the game. And a last sec fg to win the game. The Bucs were lucky to come out with a win.

But Fitz can score, CHILD PLEASE, watch tape people!!!

  48. Buddy Says:

I think the truth of the matter is that we are all in “shock and awe” that we are on our knees again and we all want sooo badly to win and be relevant again.

Let’s face it, we knew this was coming. Didn’t we? Well yeah.

So in a large way since the charges are so damning on it’s face value, we got lucky. Only 3 games without the best quarterback we have ever had.

I mean ponder this for a minute. If was such a horrible experience for the lady driver why didn’t she call the police? Simple, because it wasn’t quit like that. Not cool no. Rapy? No. Not cool, yes. Drunk boy child move? Yes. Rapy? No.

    That’s why.

    But NOT Ted Bundy level.

We in reality are reeling over the fact that we are once again against the wall. That’s the truth of the truth. And we know he is our best shot at a title and phissing EVERYONE Off including me.

But does he need to make this right for all of us? Yes he does. He needs to go out there and somehow win. If we get rid of him this year I do believe we are “doom screwed” for years.

Only he can make this right so he’s going to need a chance on the field to pay us ALL BACk

  49. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    @lightningbuc

Now we have seen it all.

You compared Jameis to Charles Manson & Ted Bundy.

    What a pathetic take. Moron.

  50. Roy T. Buford Says:

There are only so many draft picks, so many FA deals that can be made. The Bucs spent big, depriving the D for sure, to get Winston the weapons to help him succeed. I don’t agree Winston is responsible for most all the losses, but he is the leader of the team, and this year, the GM and HC may also pay a price. All Winston needed to do was make good decisions on the field, and off the field, and his part would fall into place. He couldn’t do that.

  51. ben Says:

How many season tkt holders want him gone?? I do, I do .cut him !!!

  52. DB55 Says:

    Roy T

Please stfu. We get it. Shouldn’t you be at church giving your pastor all your money so he can buy a jet or touch some kids inappropriately?

  53. Joe Says:

Really, Ted Bundy and Charles Manson?

So now we’re comparing Jameis — who hasn’t been charged with a damn thing and hasn’t spent one hour in a jail cell — with mass murderers???

That isn’t just a leap. That’s a jump Evel Knievel wouldn’t even try.

Get a hold of your dry man. smh

  54. Roy T. Buford Says:

@DB55….you don’t get it, frankly. I am not sure what you eat to try to get to be so stupid, but whatever it is, it works.

  55. lightningbuc Says:

I never compared America’s Groper to manson or bundy. My analogy is at what level of crime are we NOT required to forgive and give someone a second chance – shoplifting, sexual assault, murder. That is all. Now, carry on with your nonsensical slurping of all things Jaboo.

  56. Tony LA Says:

You can’t defend Jameis’ predicament with a “he played with a bad defense” argument. That does t mesh well. Schraeger was saying you can overlook the lack of wins OR you can let the off the field transgressions slide this time but to do BOTH and give Jameis over 100-150 million is borderline insanity.

This is moot. 2019 is irrelevant right now. Jameis has to do a grand gesture…

    1. Donate his entire 2018 Sakarya to a cause that helps sexual assault victims and education programs that prevent them

    2. Stop the rah-rah B.S. He lost that right and it never led to wins in the first place.

    3. When he does return he plays smart / turnover free football

He does those three things and he will get a true second chance in the NFL. And a new big contract. Otherwise – this dude is doomed.

  57. DB55 Says:

    Tony

Turnover free? How exactly? First, has there ever been a qb with 0 turnovers in a season? Or do you mean something like 36 TDS and 4 Ints like Brady had in 2010? Does he have to win a SB too?

I’m just curious how he does that with only 2.5 blockers on the most porous oline in the nfl and the 32nd ranked defense in the league?

  58. Jjones Says:

Word of the year in the sports world, hyperbole.

  59. Not there yet Says:

So sad people keep associating what happened at Florida State with his professional career. No one else is dealing with this but this is his first nfl incident and you can’t be banned for it. Everything he done is overblown because of his immaturity in college like Johnny football and it’s his own doing. This will come down to whether he is good enough to make 20 million or not. Damn people love to exaggerate in this era. 3 games suspension will torpedo the season? 3 games no one expects them to win really? Suddenly everyone is Nostradamus predicting his future and how well the team will play training camp even starts. Vegas odds haven’t changed because they low-balled is anyway.

He’s been out of the spotlight for two years but only wins will justify a big contract and he did it to himself. I think if he’s cut by the bucs he’ll be locked out of any football league and baseball. I sound he’s oblivious to this fact as obviously he’s been doing the right thing for two years now.

  60. Not there yet Says:

I’m going to assume you know something even elementary students know about football but apparently you have to be reminded there’s a draft and there’s this thing called free agency and your pointing out stats from last year. We’re they ranked 32nd the year before last year? No I don’t think so. Keep the stupid stats to yourself because they have no weight on anything except predictions. The most porus oline in the league? Where’d you get that nonsense from

  61. richbucsfan Says:

Did they remove his mural from Raymond James? We’ll know then that they no longer consider him the face of the franchise. The heat is now coming and it sounds real hot.

  62. unbelievable Says:

    actually Jaboobuc they are related.

Why do you hold a 22 year old athlete to higher standards than the person you’re choosing to be in charge of the entire country?

It’s call hypocrisy- and this fan base is drowning in it.

  63. JabooBuc Says:

Unbelievable: I don’t hold one more accountable than the other. Not sure how you reach that conclusion. I could say I want Trump gone all day for being a womanizer but not sure what that has to do with Jameis.

  64. Durango 95 Says:

    Joe-

In your reply to Sc Bucs Fan you claimed that the NFL “labeled (JW) a sex offender”. They did not such thing. That term (sex offender) is a legal term which has no standing-whatsoever in this matter. The league suspended JW based on a violation of its NFL personal conduct policy. The underlying (alleged) reasons given is no way related to the standards in a court of law applying to sex offender conviction, which falls entirely within the purview of our judicial system. It’s my option your reckless use of the term is not only unfortunate but unintentionally malicious.

    With all due respect.

  65. unbelievable Says:

    jaboobuc-

Grabbing, groping, and kissing women against their will (and in at least 1 case, being accused of r8pe), as well as walking into the dressing room of underage naked girls, is not being a “womanizer”.

And I say they are related bc there are many who support him for a much, much more important job (no comparison in terms of importance), but then want to run Jameis out of town.

    It’s hypocrisy at it’s finest.

  66. JWBUCS Says:

Jameis needs to prove himself and while he has clearly demonstrated terrific football skills and athleticism…. Jameis Does Not Rate as America’s QB…. Stop using that phony title or I am warning you Joe, you will Drive away traffic to this website…. If that is the risk you are willing to take with your sponsors, then you will ultimately reduce your monetary support, coupled to the loss of Web based Bucs Fans…

  67. Knoxville Buc Says:

Wikipedia says a “Sex Offender” is someone that Commits a sex crime. Where is #3’s mugshot? Looked on the Arizona sex offender website and not there either. I’d watch even repeating what the NFL or anyone else labels JW regarding this… not even a police report has surfaced. Looks like a innocent man according to the court of law

  68. JabooBuc Says:

Unbelievable: you should probably learn the definition of hypocrisy. One has nothing to do with the other.

  69. Defense Rules Says:

@Joe … “he (Jameis) had nine wins in 2016 in case people forget.”

@Polian … “Jameis’ 40 percent winning percentage is “misleading” because the Bucs defense was so horrid and the run game was so pathetic.”

Statements like those 2 are kinda humorous Joe. You give Jameis credit for 9 wins in 2016, and yet in 5 of those wins the Bucs scored 19 points or less (IOW the Bucs’ defense kicked ass in those 5 wins, not Jameis & the offense). Then Polian follows by blaming Jameis’ crappy 40% winning percentage on bad defense & no run game. Can’t have it both ways … reality is that the defense cost him some games but won him several games.

Regarding keeping or cutting Jameis … the Glazers will let us know the answer to that riddle when they’re good & ready, not before. The only thing we know for sure is that Fitz will be the Bucs’ QB for at least the first 3 games.

StPete has it right … ““When will we start talking …you know….FOOTBALL?”

  70. unbelievable Says:

@Defense Rules – great point there. The defense was the main reason we won all 5 of those games.

@JabooBuc – I dunno what to tell you man. You seem really upset about me calling out hypocrites.

  71. JabooBuc Says:

Not upset at all. Just calling it for what it is.

  72. BuccaneEric75 Says:

AlteredEgo, why would Winston need a year off to get his life together? This incident happened 2 and a half years ago. If he doesn’t have his life together now then there’s no hope. You act like he is a mess right now. His image is obviously shattered, but making statements about how he is now based on actions from over 2 years ago isn’t fact based.

  73. Joe Says:

AlteredEgo, why would Winston need a year off to get his life together?

More importantly, why would Jameis p!ss away millions?

  74. chickster Says:

I was soooo angry that we picked JW because this is what I knew we would all be talking about . Now we have to deal with it and the embarrassment that comes with it . Friends are texting me like I run the team well the only good thing that might come out of this is a new HC /GM these guys are out of there league . likeable guys but not the lions you need and my guess is they both will be gone 3/4 threw the season .

  75. VA Tom Says:

How many games did Fitz win with the same d and running game?

  76. Walter Seidel Says:

Comparing him to Manson or Bundy isn’t being realistic. But neither is comparing him to being “America’s Quarterback”. It cuts both ways Joe.
