Cowherd Predicts Implosion

July 23rd, 2018

Expects nightmare season.

The shrill voice of Colin Cowherd of FS1 could be heard throughout the Tampa Bay area last week when he boasted the Bucs would be downright brutal this season.

In making his NFC South predictions (video below), Cowherd made no bones about it that the Bucs will be the Yucs and once again be moored in Buccaneers Cove (last place in the NFC South).

And the main reason the Bucs will stink? Cowherd says #BlameJameis.

“He’s clearly the fourth-best quarterback,” Cowherd said of Jameis in his division rankings of QBs. “He’s not nearly as talented as Cam. He is not as precise as Matt Ryan or Drew Brees. …

“I think Dirk Koetter is fine. I think you are limited with Jameis Winston who just doesn’t feel like right now, he’s ready on a maturity level to be a quarterback in this NFL.”

“This is a really good division and [the Bucs] are not a really good football team.”

Some would argue Cowherd is dead-on when he claims Jameis is immature. Joe will suggest all the talk of him being a leader is way overblown and inaccurate. Leaders would have grabbed offsides-jumping, Lightning-trolling, belly-shirt-wearing, practice-hating, kicker-heckling, tree-grinding , non-contact-football-loving, chicken-wings-grilling, playing-time-squawking, TV-cooking-star, half-sack Swaggy Baker by the nuts in preseason, not wait until the second-last game of the season and pile on when someone else took the initiative.

Leaders also wouldn’t have poked an opposing cornerback while on the sidelines. Leaders also wouldn’t go mental and try to attack a referee after a close loss, barreling over a team executive and former player.

But how does Cowherd square it with himself that Jameis is too immature for the NFL? No NFL quarterback threw for a higher percentage of first downs than Jameis?

Colin Cowherd…meh…just another bloviator on the many, many cable sports talk shows.

I get why the cable nets air so many of these shows…they are CHEAP to produce.
I may surf and stop at one of them but can’t say I really watch them.

As for our team…I think he’s mistaken of course. We are adding some good talent. When I did research to see if the Bucs had tried to help GMC by drafting DL help…his first two years the Bucs basically wasted (Clayborn at least played and is still in the league) a #1 and two #2’s in consecutive years. That’s deadly!

An NFL team simply cannot miss on three of their top 4 picks in back to back years. We haven’t really done that under Licht and the talent is finally starting to add up.

As for Jameis. I was happy to draft him. I thought he was the answer to we guys who wanted to play old AFL brand football. I was nervous of course because of ALL his Tallahassee hijinks, but I kept hearing the same refrain over and over and over again. He’s just immature. It’s time to bury that excuse FOREVER!!!

He’s 24 years old! Man up Jameis!!!

  2. Bucsfanman Says:

Really, there’s no reason for anyone to believe otherwise, unless you are a die-hard Bucs fan. Historically, we suck! Period, end of story. Why believe anything else?
That said, Cowherd can take that 3-13 and stick it where the sun don’t shine!!!

  3. Lunchbox Says:

I’ve never liked Cowherd. He’s never hid his disdain for the Bucs and just Tampa in general, and he’s one of these arrogant pricks that likes to pontificate about “fly-over states”. But I kind of agree about Jameis’s immaturity. If he’s our starter, I’ll support him, but only because who they decided to start.

  4. Buctooth Says:

Buc’s will win more than three games thats a given. And with that said i will stick with my guns Bucs will finish 7-9 and then heads will roll fire the cannon’s baby.

  5. John Prowell Says:

Does it matter if you finish 3-13, 4-12 or 7-9? All spell loser, just means the Bucs haven’t changed a thing.

  6. Pickgrin Says:

    3-13?? Really????

This team underperformed like a mofo in the win column last year and still managed a 5-11 record. Then got a TON better through the draft and FA.

Predicting 3 wins for the Bucs with all seriousness is basically just trolling….

  7. Buccaneer scotty Says:

    3and 13 and Fitz will have 2 of the 3 wins lmao….

  8. Chris Cotten Says:

    Cowturd is a moron

  9. Destinjohnny Says:

He said bama’s reign was over after we lost to Ohio state
He is a blow hard who always seems to be wrong.
Although jameis is the 4th best qb in the south and we will be lucky to win 6 games

  10. Oxycondoms Says:

Doesn’t he think LeBron is better then Jordan? Can’t listen to one second of what he thinks

  11. D-Rome Says:

I agree with you John. If the Bucs have another losing season it’s time to clean house. Five years for Jason Licht and four years for Irk and Jameis is long enough.

  12. ndog Says:

Lets just remember this same “analyst” had the Rams going 7-9 last year, the Saints going 6-10 last year, the Jags going 5-11 last year and the Raiders and Cowboys going 10-6. So it is safe to say he looks at the year before and basically just repeats what they did the previous year. Yeah really well thought out “”predictions”. Give me a break with this loser, you sometimes wonder how these people get their jobs as they are like parrots just repeating what other people say over and over.

  13. Me? Says:

Cant blame him for the prediction, but wouldnt you be a bit worried if Cowherd was loving on the Bucs? The guy is a moron, but not a fun moron like Skip Bayless.

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Bucs may not have a winning season but I fail to see how it could be worse than last year……….6-10 would be my worse guess…..

  15. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

Bucs have EARNED 3-13 predictions with the embarrassing on field product they have fielded for nearly TWO DECADES…. there is no denying thier failure on and of the field. Glazers run the most embarrassing sports franchise on planet earth with absolutely ZERO leadership. They prove it each and ever day!

  16. The Buc Realist Says:

Dude is right on, good coaches, substandard roster!!!!! And if you disagree then why did the GM have to make an emergency overhaul to the roster?????

While the team could make a leap, there are more reasons that they could fall flat!!!!!!!!!! If the coaches can cover up the obvious holes ( much like 2016) then there is a chance!!!!!!!!!!

  17. Ptwalk Says:

@Realist-this team has far more talent than the past 3 coaches have had. Funny how you make up excuses for this staff.

  18. Pickgrin Says:

Other than question marks due to young players at RG and 1 outside CB spot – where are all these “obvious holes” you speak of Rhealist?

  19. The Buc Realist Says:

    @PTWalk

Does that say they are the most talented team??? or how bad they were and have been in the talent department??????? I have heard for years how the Bucs are so talented and all these coaches have been holding back all this scary talent!!!!!!!! The “real” fans know that the good coaches covered up holes on the roster in 2016!!!!!! the talent is building!!!!! Don’t get carried away like joe and sheep have done for years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

    Pickgrin

As usual you are completely out of touch with reality…. No RG, NO Proven RB, NO RT a stubborn Coach who will waste time on a low ceiling bum in Humphries not to mention the mentally weakest leaders and defensive unit in league. . I’m going to do you a solid though because i care. I’ll submit your posts to Snoops new jokers wild. the Nostradumbass category is clearly the most fitting

  21. Joel Says:

Why does this prediction piss people off?

It’s dead on. This team sucks.

  22. Kobe Faker Says:

“Klueless Koetter and his scheme and playcalling suks. It doesnt work in the NFL and will get QBs killed. His playcalling is predictable and all defensive coordinators knows how to defend it”

“Klueless Koetter destroyed my career and everything Kobe Faker says is absolutely true”

    Blaine Gabbert

  23. Defense Rules Says:

ndog … Great point about Cowherd’s 2017 predictions. Far too many media & fans look at the previous year’s results & ‘predict’ the current year will be more of the same.

@Realist … “The “real” fans know that the good coaches covered up holes on the roster in 2016!!!!!! the talent is building!!!!!” Agree wholeheartedly Realist, especially on defense. The Bucs haven’t been a well-balanced TEAM for years. Certain position groups have an abundance of talent, experience & depth this year (LBs, DLine, WRs, TEs & yes QB) BUT … we’re lacking those characteristics in certain other position groups (Secondary & OLine IMO).

Back in 2016 it took Smitty half the season to get that defense … with its’ various limiations … to gel. But once they did, they (and the Bucs) came on strong. Smitty doesn’t have that same luxury this year; this team needs to start strong out of the gate or it’ll very likely be yet another losing season. And I personally think they’ll do just that: start strong and be 3-1 or 2-2 at the BYE. IF that prediction comes true, they’ve got an excellent chance IMO to have a 10-6 winning season & possibly make the playoffs (as a wildcard most likely). Still ‘cautiously optimistic’ …

  24. RustyRhinos Says:

Y’all know what your going to find in a cowheard, cowsh!t. If I was a player on this team they would need a new board to put up all the naysayers foretelling of our future. Motivate yourselves to action and prove them wrong. Tired of hearing how tough the first 3 games will be, how tough a division we are in. The time is NOW to go out and bust heads to prove them wrong. Time will tell if this is really a tough team spiritually, physically, mentally.
    Go Bucs!

  25. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Some here may be unaware that Colin Cowherd was the host of Buc’s Sunday seen on WTVT Tampa. In fact, the show won an Emmy.
I think he really feels the way he does about the Buc’s, but I do not share his pessimism.
IMHO, this team is loaded with talent, and if we do not produce this year, it will be a clear signal to me we need new Coaches.

  26. Eric Says:

Dirk is “fine” if they go 3-13??????

  27. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

11-5 unless injuries play a major role again. Jameis will prove he actually IS a good leader, the wins will come, and all but the most committed haters will change their tunes by the end of the year.

Colin Cowherd is a twit. He voices opinions on teams he does not watch or study. He reads what others are reporting and runs with it…like most of the media…whether it is true or not. He’s a ratings sellout.

  28. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

And so long as I’m saying that, I may as well add that the Bucs will be in the talk about a superbowl trip by the end of the season.

  29. Knoxville Buc Fan Says:

F him… just another big mouth that don’t “diddly~diddly” about the Bucs. I’ll bet anyone on here that The Bucs will make the playoffs. Probably a wildcard, but they are playing a meaningful game in January for the first time in a very very very long time

  30. Jjones Says:

Cowherd is right on with his view and that is sad, very sad yet so very true.

  31. jmarkbuc Says:

    Joe

Didn’t you answer your own question?

But how does Cowherd square it with himself that Jameis is too immature for the NFL?

Leaders also wouldn’t have poked an opposing cornerback while on the sidelines. Leaders also wouldn’t go mental and try to attack a referee after a close loss, barreling over a team executive and former player.

And that is just some of the ON Field stuff, not to mention well, you know.

    I don’t get you sometimes.

  32. Pete I Says:

He’s not wrong, we are the 4th best team in our division and Turnover toucher isn’t much of an NFL QB at this point.

  33. Joe Says:

    jmarkbuc:

Joe took the question as Cowherd saying he is too immature to be an effective quarterback. Joe does not agree with that in any way.

Yeah, he may be immature. But he is skilled and has produced.

  34. Dapostman Says:

One thing I’ve learned in all the years of watching NFL football is that the great quote from Jim Mora still rings true. “You don’t know when it’s good or bad. You really don’t know. You don’t know what happened, you think you know, but you don’t know and you never will know.” Hahaha .

  35. Buccfan37 Says:

Jeez obnoxious cowplops fertilizing the negativity after stepping in a big pile up to his piehole with a swarm of flies circling his noggin.

  36. Pete I Says:

Joe, “But he is skilled and has produced.” What exactly? Stats and few wins. What else?

  37. jmarkbuc Says:

    Thanks Joe

    THAT cleared it all up…smh

  38. Joe Says:

Stats and few wins. What else?

Sadly, Jameis cannot also play defensive end or corner or can kick the ball. 🙁

  39. The Buc Realist Says:

    Joe Says:
Stats and few wins. What else?

Sadly, Jameis cannot also play defensive end or corner or can kick the ball. 🙁

    Or throw a deep ball!!!!!!!!!
    Or be a leader!!!!!!!!!
    Or behave off the field!!!!!!!!
Or score in the redzone consistently to be consider a good QB!!!!

  40. Pete I Says:

“Sadly, Jameis cannot also play defensive end or corner or can kick the ball.”

Sadly, he doesn’t play QB all that well either.

  41. JamesisNOT Says:

    Well, he is 100% correct.

  42. Knoxville Buc Fan Says:

All you JW haters think of this… if JW would have been our QB in the era of our recent Hall of Famers and the Monte Kiffin led~Bust you in the mouth defense, that team would’ve easily won TWO MORE SUPERBOWLS. He’s that good, and the best we’ve ever had at QB.

  43. jmarkbuc Says:

    Knoxville

With all due respect.. What do you think Chucky ( or Dungy) for that matter, would have done with Jameis when he had all those turnovers and errant passes, and stupid mistakes?

He’d be sitting on the bench, letting our fierce defense and a serviceable QB play.

I think the hater reference is way overused. I don’t hate the kid. I have watched a lot of football in my life and I just don’t think he’s all that great a QB. The off the field stuff is a whole different animal. No respect for him there.

I mean technically isn’t Brad Johnson the best QB we’ve ever had?

  44. Joel Says:

8 out of last 10 seasons in last place.

Not sure why there’s any ounce of optimism here. Any optimism at this point is based on blind fandom.

    This team will finish 4-12.

  45. 813bucboi Says:

rhealist still talking bout a 5games fluke that happened 2 years ago…..lol….what has smitty done lately?……

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!…GO BUCS!!!

  46. JameisNOT Says:

@Knoxville: you need to learn a little bit about pro football in that college town. Gruden and Dungy would have benched JameisNOT immediately for bonehead decisions and mistakes on the field. No different that putting your own kid in timeout when they screw up. Winocheo has been handed everything to him on a silver platter (including crab legs) his entire life due to his athletic abilities, this includes the current head coach who continues to let him slide. The NFL took the silver platter away and now the punk is on notice. Get the popcorn because this will be FUN to watch.

I speak the truth, I am the truth, and the truth hurts!

  47. Trench War Says:

The Commish is right. It seems the industry motto is “Negativity sells”.

  48. T.J. Eller Says:

Same dude that has predicted USC to win the national title the past 3 years.

  49. stpetebucsfan Says:

    Jmark

Yes Brad Johnson IS the best Buc’s QB to this point. It’s not Jameis although I concede he has enough career left to get the job done…if he can.

I think Brad Johnson was waaay underrated. I remember him torching us at the old Sombrero when he was with the Vikes. I thought this guy can’t throw it that great none of his passes hit guys in stride or on the hands…then I thought back and realized he had placed all his passes where an offensive guy could make a play but the defender had no chance. Brad actually had football smarts and he may have been a statue but he had a decent arm and accuracy.

  50. tnew Says:

I hope Joe saves all of these posts. The negativity is so popular right now. Winston’s season last year was WAY better than most people are claiming. The defense was insanely bad in both execution and gameplan. The bellcow back was historically bad. Special teams were in the bottom half of the league. This is the REAL truth.

  51. BrianBucs Says:

Until Drew Brees retires. Winston will be the 4th best starting QB in the division.
When that time comes, hopefully Winston will no longer be a Buc.
