What Bucs Fans Want
July 27th, 2018Joe knows what Bucs fans want.
Sure, we all would like a hot tub rendezvous with Rachel Watson. But that is an unreasonable expectation. Joe is talking about something that realistically could happen.
That is explosive plays from DeSean Jackson.
Joe knows a number of impatient, fanatical Bucs fans want to run America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, out of town not because he has improved each year he has been in the NFL, but because for reasons unknown, he and DeSean Jackson struggled to connect on long passes.
Well today, Bucs backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick demonstrated that may be a thing of the past. In practice this morning, Fitzpatrick heaved about a 60-yard pass in the air that Jackson had to slow up for just a tad, but it was a big-time completion.
How big-time? Well, that is determined by how good of a player you think Ryan Smith is as a cornerback.
“Did you see him throw that 60-yarder to DeSean Jackson?” Koetter marveled in his daily press conference today.

A QB that can hit timing patterns….hit his WR’s in stride…know when to take a sack or check down….step up into the pocket and hit the easy positive yardage….keep his hands to himself….Ya know kinda like the good NFL QB’s do….

Altered…is that Fitz?
Ha ha ha ha
July 27th, 2018 at 1:37 pm
Seriously though.
I just want to win.

“trying to do the right thing at the right time. They may just be little things, But usually make the difference between winning and losing”!!!!!!!!!!!
July 27th, 2018 at 1:46 pm
Come on now.
I hear it takes years and years for a guy to throw a football to another guy.
Impossible I say.

I DON’T care what the QB’s name is ! and either should you or any Buc fan
July 27th, 2018 at 1:59 pm
Fitz has twice the deep ball accuracy Winston does so obviously nothing has changed yet
July 27th, 2018 at 1:59 pm
Winston was hitting him during training camp also. When the real games begin then we’ll see how good they are.
July 27th, 2018 at 2:00 pm
thats how its done son.
fitz baby, get ur jersey
July 27th, 2018 at 2:02 pm
the only thing j dubya be hitting is the butter dish at the crab leg buffet
July 27th, 2018 at 2:06 pm
Typical response when someone has nothing intelligent to add.
July 27th, 2018 at 2:35 pm
I know it’s day two of camp but from what I’ve seen Fitz does not look terrible. The problem with jw is that he overthrows djax and some say that couldn’t be done, go figure.
July 27th, 2018 at 3:07 pm
What do we want? Shut up and win…nothing less is acceptable
July 27th, 2018 at 3:07 pm
Joe, can easily see how DJax could outrun Ryan Smith deep, but that begs the question “Why is Chris Conte TRAILING the play?” I thought they were called ‘SAFETIES’ for a reason. Saw too much of that last year from our safeties.
July 27th, 2018 at 3:09 pm
The Real question is…..where was the Safety? Nice adjustment by DJ.
July 27th, 2018 at 3:16 pm
So much for some thinking Fitz doesn’t have a strong arm. And very accurate too. Now if Turnstyle Smith can just pass block long enough to make it happen in a game is the problem.
July 27th, 2018 at 3:28 pm
@ROBERT pure genius! lol
July 27th, 2018 at 3:38 pm
Jackson simply out ran him and the connect was perfect!
RIDE OR DIE! GO BUCS!!!
July 27th, 2018 at 3:41 pm
Cool story bro….Too bad all I could do was say WTF is Chris MF’ing Conte doing on the field…once again out of position to make a play mind blowing
July 27th, 2018 at 3:49 pm
Chris Conte, smh, how is he even in the league much less a starter?
And you guys said Barron sucked, lmao, see it’s all about perspective.
The grass isn’t always greener and if you lay down fertilizer but don’t soak it you’ll burn your grass to a crisp, like I did. Fml.

“How big-time? Well, that is determined by how good of a player you think Ryan Smith is as a cornerback.” – Joe
Well, judging by the fact that Smith was right there with him and could not do more within the rules, I’d say Smith looked pretty good on that play.

Couple things:
1 The ball was thrown so soft that DJax had to slow down for it.
2 If it was accurate, JDax would not have had to slow down at all.
3 Ryan Smith is not allowed to make contact, but he was right there with DJax throughout the play. I’d say he’s gotten better.

See my above statement.
And watch the video again. Smith was with him the whole way.
July 27th, 2018 at 4:23 pm
Right now if fiz complete a 2 yard pass to a lot of y’all Winston haters means fizpatrick is great now . We will see watch what happens when the season starts. That’s what I’m waiting for. Do it in the game . He played for 7 different teams and he never played in a play off game for being in the league for 14 years n now only to bucs fans he’s great . I say let Griffin n fiz compete for the job.
July 27th, 2018 at 4:26 pm
I’m more impressed by Ryan Smith’s growth as a corner…last year he wouldn’t have been close enough to be in the camera frame
July 27th, 2018 at 4:28 pm
“Smith was with him the whole way”
Are we watching the same clip? DJax slowed to a near stop – Smith was still running hard yet was still behind when the ball got there. Contact or No – if Smith was “right there with DJax” then he would have tried to make a play on the ball.
July 27th, 2018 at 5:37 pm
This is so sickening.
Please… just… stop.
Gagging.
Fitz has played a gazillion seasons.
Not once has his team made the playoffs.
He has the worst winning percentage of ANY QB to start 75 games or more.
He has played only a few meaningful games with playoff implications on the line in his entire career… he has imploded in each and every one of them.
His 4th quarter with the Jets a few years ago in the final game of their season is one of the most embarrassing moments any QB has had in history.
His 2-1 record last season is a mirage and his two victories were against two of the worst playing defense at that time in the league.
Going all in on Fitz is the equivalent of going all in on the town drunk to stay sober. Yeah, optimism is great, but expecting 14 years of facts and trends to change themselves instantly just because we really, really want it to is amateur hour and plain stupid and will be the end of this regime.
Wisen up, folks.
July 27th, 2018 at 5:38 pm
PS
That pass up there gets picked in a game. It was a duck.
Come on.
July 27th, 2018 at 5:43 pm
Who says Winston has not improved each season? I guess the ignorant ones. Winston improved his accuracy, cut his int rate, and was the third highest qb according to the PFF ratings in the fourth quarter. He also did well in many of the deeper metrics, according to football perspective’s website.

I stated that about Fitz as well regarding the 2-1 last year being vs. inferior opponents….he also put up most if not all of the points on the Cards in garbage time. However, having said that…..I fully support Fitzpatrick and hope he turns some fitzmagic early in the season. In any case, I agree with Ira….that it doesn’t matter who the QB….if the oline isnt asserting its dominance the qb will struggle. We saw that with Jameis (Winston up among league leaders in hits taken which is not acceptable). We saw that with third and longs, and not imposing our will on third and shorts in the run game. If the Buccs are goig to win regardless they will need to start winning the LOS, period.

Same shyte.
July 27th, 2018 at 7:34 pm
1987 , Check out McCown’s stats last year and compare it to Jameis’s, it just might surprise you.
July 27th, 2018 at 7:45 pm
Smith wasn’t at all with him but does check up with DJax after the catch so not to cause a collision post catch. Conte however starts checking his stride 10 yards early. In a real game, this is contested by the safety. Might still be a great play but this looks so much better in no contact camp.
July 27th, 2018 at 8:16 pm
If they connect like that atleast one time in any of the first 3 games then that may mean something. This don’t mean Sh!t, it’s practice, and scabs for a secondary.
July 27th, 2018 at 9:50 pm
So D-Jax adjusted to the ball? (slowed down)
I’d like to see him do that in a game, adjust to catch a catchable ball

^^^So well said, that’s all a mental game. It’s not running around just winging it. JW doesn’t have the head for NFL QB. Great college player but that’s about it.
July 28th, 2018 at 12:47 am
Conte is a bum. Look how he slows down and gives up on the play.
July 28th, 2018 at 1:44 am
There’s a young probowl safety in free agency, Eric Reid. Yet he’s still unsigned. The bucs who had the worst pass defense has not even considered him. Yet they still give Conte chances. Even when Tandy is clearly better. Yea get ready for another bad year for the passing defense
July 28th, 2018 at 9:06 am
DJax could have caught a few of the deep passes Jameis threw him. One problem is he waits to long to start looking for the ball. It wasn’t always too long or short but simply adjusting a few steps left or right.
