Uber driver responds.
The woman who goes by the handle “Kate,” the Uber driver in question for which America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, was sentenced with a three-game suspension, has issued a statement.
The statement from “Kate,” released through a Buzzfeed.com reporter, acknowledges Jameis’ apology and thanks the NFL for slapping Jameis with a suspension.
In short, “Kate” hopes her issue empowers women who have been a victim of a crime to step forward and let their voices be heard.

Yeah, Winston’s apology does need some work–like act like being sorry what he did vice just being sorry he got busted lying and decieving…and committing a sex crime.

Im not saying she isnt wrong but it seems to me that she is insuinating the alleged rape while at FSU that was found to be without merit and the comment he made at the elementary school is being twisted to her liking. Am I wrong to think this? Im not defending JW’s actions 27 months by violating a persons personal space without consent. His past is checkered and this doesnt help it, but there is no admission of guilt and there were no charges filed.

Soooooooo he committed a crime that he wasn’t arrested or charged with when she claims to have told about it, but no authorities were involved and so basically ignore the police but tell the NFL because they are the law right???? My 2 cents of what is most likely happened (ocams razor) is that he was so drunk that he confused his Uber driver with one of the women who was probably responding favorably to his advances 10-15 minutes ago in the club. He was too drunk to differentiate the people (his fault) made an unsightly and clumsy pass (his fault and poor judgment considering the relationship he is in) and was confused as to what was going on. Not necessarily evil, or predatory behavior, just blackout drunk and confused. He recognized from the beginning that he was obnoxiously and irresponsibly drunk that night. And said so when he first addressed this, apologizing for making her feel uncomfortable.
I even think he doesn’t believe still that he did it.
If that understanding of the situation is true, he was in the wrong, but to blast him as if he is predatory (when everyone agrees-even him- that he was irresponsibly uncontrollably drunk) is reactionary and also irresponsible. I do not know if the Florida state incident can be added to this for context, because of the holes in the situation, I’m not comfortable holding him responsible for a situation that feels to me as if a female is sticking to a poorly made story.
I will say this. this makes 3 different situations that through impulsiveness, not taking the time to pause and think about his actions, or loss of awareness have led to situations that have led females to feel uncomfortable with his actions.
(speech, Florida state, Uber) This is a problem. His impulse control even shows up on the field.
I think we are dealing with an individual whose personality falls somewhere between favre and manziel in a time where a reactionary media and society dictated a marriota. He is not predatory like favre, but falls victim to the party like manziel.

for the record in the above, I am not justifying the actions, just differently classifying the underlying psycology than some of you. I believe he is wrong and needs the suspension, but this incident seems more likely to be a dumb idiot black out drunk than a perv who hates women. Both are wrong and just as demeaning to the woman in question who deserves this apology. but one can be forgiven, educated, and prevented if someone learns to control themselves. The difference between trump and wiener vs a twenty something year old leaving a club (probably surrounded by women encouraging this behavior) blackout drunk is substantial in what it says about the person. But I could be wrong, I do give out too much grace.

She reported this 2+ years ago to Uber immediately after it happened. At the time that was her only known recourse considering we both agree she’d be f*cked trying to take legal action due to the nature of what happened (assuming it did).
#metoo wasn’t a thing when she reported this to Uber.
No one can say they know with 100% certainty that it happened exactly as she described; but I see no reason for her to have made this up to Uber just for the hell of it while not taking any other legal / lawsuit type actions at the time.
It doesn’t make logical sense to me she had a 2+ year plan centered around a potential future lawsuit after future potential women’s’ movement…
It makes more sense to me that the sober person who was on the job is telling the truth vs a drunk person who was just kicked out of a club that had their uber account removed as a result of what happened

Eric, there are plenty of women out there who will lie to put a man in jail who are innocent, who know how the system works and will side with them.
Does this happen in most cases. No, but even if its 1-2% of the time, I find that unacceptable. There are leaders of the #MeToo movement who have stated they don’t care if some innocent men are ruined by this. We live in scary times.
I am not saying Jameis is innocent, he probably is guilty in this case. But the NFL doesn’t care about probably and one day a player will be banned for doing absolutely nothing.

ATrain I get what you’re saying, but we don’t know the conversation they were having before hand, maybe she’s just a really nice girl and the conversation was light hearted, maybe her thought she was flirting, maybe she was or wasn’t, he was drunk and misread that (even if it was the case he shouldn’t have put his hands on her) and went for it…yes he’s an idiot if this is the case. I was talking to a female friend of mine and she identifies as a feminist, not militant but still a feminist and her take on the situation was that this is better suited as a learning experience for everyone and she believes he doesn’t need to be hung for it, but it does point to etiquette by some men who believe if a woman is paying attention to them they are entitled to just see what can happen. It points to a societal problem that is currently being addressed, but everything in this me too movement is not equal and not all should be dealt with the same, this was not rape, but yes it is a problem and points to a bigger problem with society, but it should be a moment to educate. All of this is of course speculation because nobody else was there, I want to believe he will not put himself in this type of situation again. Ignorant men used these types of situation to bolster their b.s. arguments, sometimes it’s better to teach someone to be better than it is to kill them for an offense and I don’t believe he deserves to be killed for this, we all need to learn from it.

Its High Time NOW JOE to Stop with the “Americas Quarterback” Crap…. Personally, I believe this circumstance was horrible judgement or maybe entirely a result of too much alcohol consumption…. Either way that was 27 months ago and I am still hopeful Jameis can be a very productive QB in the NFL for the Bucs.
