    Let’s not make a big deal of the Spence weight last year — it’s very possible they thought he would play as a blitz LB last year and thought he could be effective at 230…. He’s just not an every down player at DE, even at 255ish.

    To me the Spence weight thing is an indictment of how he was rushed back into the lineup prior to him being in football shape. This time last year, he wasn’t an OTA participant. I recall Licht saying he wasn’t able to work his upper body strength up until late in the offseason. For these guys to keep good weigh on they need to be able to work hard over time.

    They didn’t have him playing as a blitz linebacker. (should have tho) Go watch the preseason games. He was rotating in on running downs. He should never had been considered as an every down player. Put him in situationally, keep him fresh.

    How is more muscle on Spence’s surgically-repaired shoulder anything but a positive?

    Plus, Von Miller (NFL player most closely compared to Spence) is 6’3″ 250
    Spence is 6’2″ and will be just over 250 come September.

    But, we need to talk about something in June, right?
