Addresses DL coach’s tirade.
We have all blown it out of proportion.
Bucs stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy believes we all had it wrong. When WTVT-TV, Channel 13 multimedia journalist Jeff Tewksbury captured new defensive line coach Brentson Buckner unloading on GMC last week in underwear football practice, it appeared Buckner was fed up with GMC and thus read him the riot act.
No, no, no, GMC said. Buckner was coaching.
Today at One Buc Palace, GMC was asked about Buckner’s outburst and GMC stated he didn’t think anything of it.
“Y’all made a big deal out of nothing,” GMC insisted. “It is the NFL. What, am I not supposed to get coached? He was coaching. That’s what he’s paid to do. He has been given an assignment, and he is going to do his assignment to the best of his ability.
“That didn’t faze — I am a 30-year old man with five kids. Come on, man. I’ve been paying my own bills since I have been in college. You think a grown man yelling at me fazes me? He is coaching. Hear the message; not the tone. Y’all made a big deal out of it: ‘He’s yelling at Gerald.’ DUH! He’s a coach. That’s what he is supposed to do.
“So, what? It is hot outside. He’s shot. I’m hot. He is doing his job. I’m doing my job. You know what the reality is? If I don’t jump offsides, [the tongue-lashing] doesn’t happen. So everybody is making a big deal out of it. He’s supposed to coach. He is coaching.
“I was taught at an early age [to] hear the message not the tone. He was coaching. Get over it. So, what? This is football!”
It is good to see GMC’s attitude about that. A lot of veteran players, if they were on the receiving end of Buckner’s hollering, would have freaked out claiming Buckner dissed them.
As GMC rightly pointed out, if he didn’t jump offsides, Buckner doesn’t wig out.

Maybe the Bucs should put in all the players contracts an abstinence clause, this could explain some players lack of energy.

I luv Gerald. He’s not getting caught in that..media trap! Good for him. Reporters are always trying to get players to say things that will create controversy. GMC just..flaked it off his shoulders. Great job GMC!! Same with JPP not attending non-mandatory OTA’s. (Note the word..NON-MANDATORY)People tried to get him to bite. But he just said his piece and went about his way. I guess this is what drives our media. Hell, we ain’t winning so..fans gotta read bout somethin!!

It’s been 8 years son how much time does he need? Suh got to the P.O. under his rookie contract, so did Donald and Atkins and Short and Jarrett.
That’s why he didn’t even make the top 100 bc even the players are seeing thru his weak as bs.
To make matters worse he’s spreading the ice cream throughout the league. Koala ice pulled up to the Browns OTAs yesterday.

I would encourage everyone to watch GMCs presser…….it was over 16 minutes when the others were about 3 minutes….he answered all questions sometimes letting the press know how off base they were…..especially the discussion about “help for GMC”……he repeatedly told them that it is help for the team, not him.
Watch it and you may have a newfound respect for GMC.

When a team is not winning, the local media Thrives on controversy or tries to start several. After all, they and you..get tired of hearing what great..Losers you are. When you are a winner, the local media concentrates on that. One day..Hopefully..we will become winners and set aside this..Childish gambino BullSh..!

I don’t think anyone here wants the Bucs to fail. I’m just tired of all of their talk year after year, followed by subpar execution on the field, both players and coaches. I still doubt that Gerald will stay healthy and make it past the first 4 games. And just because I’m sick of losing and sick of hearing his mouth doesn’t mean I’m not a fan or want them to lose. And just because I think the Bucs should have traded him when his value was high, means that I’m wrong. I hope he proves me wrong but in the meantime I wish he’d keep his mouth shut. Yeah yeah I know, I’m a hater because I dare criticize the Great Gerald McCoy. Another huge investment that has netted zero return.

The best coach I ever had bitched and cussed us little kids out. I sure learned how to play baseball that year, we thought we had a bunch of misfits but we tore that league up.

Funny how we NOW complain about little things and pay attention to detail but when schiano stressed the discipline of toes on the line , which is football 101 they make fun of him. Than we have guys line up offsides and question where is the coaching.
