Entering ASJ Territory?

Alarming comparison. (Photo courtesy of Buccaneers.com.)

You may not need a second cup of coffee this fine Saturday morning after you read this.

A respected ESPN reporter stated on the four-letter yesterday that America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, may have just walked into the realm of Austin Seferian-Jenkins, a former Bucs tight end. ASJackwagon was ousted from the team roster in 2016 after a getting pulled over for a DUI. The arrest was the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back with the Bucs after a litany of hare-brained stunts.

Yesterday, appearing on “NFL Live” seen on the four-letter, Bucs beat writer Jenna Laine seemed to believe Jameis’ pattern of misdeeds is not unlike ASJackwagon. The organization, she said, gave ASJ several mulligans until the night he got pinched was one incident too many and he was gone.

Laine read the statement the Bucs issued after the NFL announced Jameis’ suspension carefully. She believes she found a clue in the wording as to Jameis’ status with the Bucs organization, specifically with Team Glazer.

“The Bucs issued a statement where they said they were dissappointed that Jameis put himself in this position,” Laine said of Jameis getting slapped with a three-game suspension for his hassle with an Uber driver in Arizona in March 2016. “They were not disappointed in the league’s findings, but they were disappointed in Jameis. To me, that was very, very telling.

The Bucs “do believe in giving second chances. But at the same time when a player exhibits a pattern of detrimental behavior, that’s where they draw the line.”

Laine used ASJackwagon as an example of a young, talented player who the Bucs tolerated for nearly three years before they had enough.

Laine also added she doesn’t see Team Glazer cutting Jameis this season, echoing former Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik.

Hire Kaepernick, fire Winston. Is kneeling during the National Anthem worse than grabbing a woman by the pu**y? WTF ?

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

You can be disappointed in Jameis and still not want to cut him…..

    That’s where I am….and from what I’m reading…..many share that view.

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

ASJ & Jameis are different in one very important thing.

ASJ would have taken a dump in the back of that Uber…..Jameis, although very drunk….and apparently after Mexican food, was able to hold his # 2.

  4. Pete I Says:

ASJ isn’t the face of the franchise, you know like America’s Choir Boy, the disturbed man who touches women inappropriately, drinks to much and lies about it.

And who want Kapernick? Trading one problem for another is an equally terrible move.

    “Jenny L representing Lakeland!”

    Kobe Faker

  6. Bucwylde Says:

I would rather lose with players I’m proud represent my team than win ( which we don’t do even with these “high talent high draft pick” guys ) with guys that make me ashamed to wear my gear around my town or the constant sh1t I get from co workers and friends about the stupid position Winston continues to put himself in, losing ain’t that bad I’m used to it and I definitely prefer it to shame.

  7. OhioBucFan Says:

    @Tampabaybucfan

I feel the same way, more so that he cut a deal if he feels that he is innocent. Why ruin your rep with the fan base if it is already low to begin with?

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    OhioBucsFan

I have no idea whether or not he actually groped here…..he could have and been so drunk he didn’t remember…..contrary to some opinions, it happens….I can attest to that from personal experience.

Now….the preponderance of evidence makes him look guilty….copping a “no contest” type plea with the NFL but not apologizing for the actual act while trying to cover everything up.

That could be the actions of a man who knows he can’t win because of his past. It could be the actions of a man who knows there is no video (absolute proof)

Anyway, he only gets a pass from me because of my love of the team…..shame on him for tainting them….but I’ll give him another shot.

  9. Orlampa Turd Says:

It’s not sexual assault, it’s just a “hassle.” Classy.

Something tells me that the Joes haven’t had too many meaningful relationships with the opposite sex.

  10. BUCLUV55 Says:

    @ Glen K
According to your president, yes it is.

  11. Gambelero Says:

I’m trying to anticipate how the announcers will hsndle it. After a good play or when Jameis gets on a streak. This year they’ll say. “He got suspended for inappropriate behavior after a night of drinking, but it was something that happened several years ago. He’s quit drinking, gotten engaged and turned his life around.” Next year—if he’s playing well—they’ll say. “He was suspended for three games for an ‘incident’ from four years ago. He took steps to turn his life around, and he’s focused his energy on the task at hand (football). Three or four years from now, if he’s playing well, it won’t be mentioned by game announcers at all. Tom Jones and Matt Baker will still be writing about it, but during games not a peep.

  12. Tampabaybucfan Says:

It is not criminal sexual assault in Arizona….it is classified as sexual abuse…

There seems to be a lot of confusion about this case….let me clear it up….you can look up the statutes yourself if you don’t trust my research.

This is sexual abuse in Arizona…..the Civil statute has run (2years)….so all those that believe there will be a civil suit are mistaken)

This is classified as a class 5 felony……criminal charges can be brought up to 7 years after the incident…..(this would be highly unlikely since no police report was filed) but it is not totally impossible either…..and aggressive prosecutor with the help of the driver, could bring charges.

  13. pelbuc Says:

ASJ, Baker, JW and the list of high character guys drafted or signed by Licht is very telling, not to mention all the other total duds. And for what, to be bottom feeders each and every year. Nothing will change until Bucs get rid of Licht and find someone that knows what they are doing. Boy, do I miss the days of Allstott, Dunn, Brooks, Lynch and Barber!

  14. Orlampa Turd Says:

Thanks for clearing that up Tampabaybucfan.

  15. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Every GM has their share of bad dudes…

Kellen Winslow, Blount, Talib, Jeremy Stevens,

Even some on the fringe like Mike Williams & Josh Freeman….questionable characters…

Some bad characters turn up good…..Sapp….until they don’t.

  16. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

Licht needs to go as his trail of free agents and below average drafts have shown in the bucs continuing their race w cleveland as the worst franchise in all of pro sports

  17. Roy T. Buford Says:

Jenna has the first nest by the door when you walk into the media room at One Bucs Place. In comparison, Tom Jones is like on the far row halfway down. I’m saying that shows the cred, but she is in a coveted position. The Bucs do give her the highest latitude and access compared to pretty much anyone, save for the NFL Network. I agree with her 100%. I commented tThurs hat the remarks did not say anything about “let’s help Jameis” or “we support him” and there was no attached name (Joe pointed that out too)…just the “Bucs.” which is indeed telling. I think they are still sorting through it, still taking it in, looking at another NFL QB. If they don’t bring someone in to back up Fitz and maybe compete for starting job, it is clear they are tossing in the season (they like Ryan Griffin, but are not happy to have him as #2 in a season where coach and GM keesters are on the line).

  18. Roy T. Buford Says:

Correction: I am NOT saying that shows the cred….

  19. AlteredEgo Says:

The Glazers need to step up and tell Jameis he has the whole year off…arrange a treatment program covering all things on and off the field….pay him his 2018 salary….this story needs time and distance…..

I want Jameis to become the QB he thinks he is…
and the person he wants people to believe he is…

  20. miken Says:

this was his behavior in college. Like D Green said… he is who we thought he was. The gift that comes from this though is he swore off alcohol. That will be life altering for him and a huge postitive.

  21. Anonymous Says:

When can we stop talking about this? Why do you all feel the need to get so up in arms. In 3 years we will barely remember this, and have Jameis as a successful qb…everyone just needs to chill out

According to your president, yes it is.

    He ain’t my damn president!

  23. SC Says:

I love the duality of the USA, you can be accused of grapping a woman by the P and gain the hatred of the nation. Or you can admit that it gives you a thrill and you misuse your position to do so, and be elected president

  24. Roy T. Buford Says:

    @TBBF…spot on.

  25. Destinjohnny Says:

I’ve never seen a person framed so much in life like Jameis has been
I think like 5 times now.
I’m sure this was the first time he ever has done this as well….
Society seems out to get him…..

  26. Dewey Selmon Says:

This is the society we now live in, this is how children are being raised. Why is anyone surprised and why is any one mad?

  27. JohnLynchBrokeMyBody47 Says:

It’s way easier to cut bait with a 2nd round Tight End than a number one overall QB. Character issues are measured much differently based on your position and production. Tight Ends are a dime-a-dozen; franchise QBs are not.

  28. Roy T. Buford Says:

Important to note is the league examined an extensive amount of evidence, including interviews (including Winston and his counsel), telephone records, business records, data from electronic devices and other communications.

Now, if I’m a femail Uber driver and some drunk big dude gets in my car at 2am, I’m hitting the record button on something. We don’t know if that is what she did or not. Yes, there are cell phone records and hits to the towers to cover who was there or not, but don’t count out that she may have recorded all or part of it. And Winston may have had no clue if he was in sad shape.

  29. Eric Says:

Even ASJ stands above Jameis! Sure both drink and do bad things but sexually deviant behavior is as low as you get. Nice try Joe!
    #dumpwinston

  30. Pickgrin Says:

If the Bucs win a Super Bowl anytime within the next 10 years – Jason Licht’s drafting and Jameis Winston’s QB play are almost certain to be the 2 most important/contributing factors in hoisting that Lombardi trophy.

Yet so many commenters here now say they want to get rid of both…

I can’t even remember the last time I’ve seen something get so blown out of proportion as this Ubergate BS.

So many are freaking the fluck OUT about this.

And being hella judgmental as well in the process.

All of you condemning and slandering and dumping on Jameis the last week – wielding your verbal torches and pitchforks to run this guy out of town better check yourselves for a minute. Because every damn one of you has done some messed up chit at least a time or two in your life. Yea – it probably wasn’t a drunk hand on a stranger’s va jj. It was probably something much worse in a moral and/or legal sense.

Perspective seems to be in short supply of late.

Many of you need to get some!

    Nuff said.

  31. DB55 Says:

    Roy T.

Do you even know how to call an Uber? Ever been in an Uber? But now you’re some kind of Uber and tech expert? Why don’t you just stfu? Who exactly are you trying to impress with your jibberish?

Mfking detective stabler over here, smh, shhhhh.

  32. Defense Rules Says:

@AlteredEgo … “I want Jameis to become the QB he thinks he is … and the person he wants people to believe he is.” I think that’s what many Bucs’ fans want too, but it won’t be an easy road that Jameis has to travel to make that happen. He’s lost TRUST (management, coaches, teammates, fans) and that’s really hard to rebuild. In time though I for one hope he can regain that trust. In the final analysis, I think Jameis is a good person who’s very immature & has a few ‘issues’ to deal with (like most of us). With the right attitude & support, anything’s possible.

  33. Capt.Tim Says:

    Stupidity. Pure stupidity
You realize that BS about the president was campaign BS., right
The President denied that the tape was authentic
All the taken to numerous sourses, it was always refuted, never authenticated.
The person who produced the tape, was first counsin to George W.Bush.
He released the tape, while his family- Jeb Bush, was trunning for the presidency.
The guy who released the tape was later fired from his position, for Unethical practices

He claimed that he recorded the tape without the presidents Knowledge, with a telescoping” microphone- often reffered to as an “evesdropping mike”. While some comments could be verified as Donald Trump, the “controversial” comments, the Pu**y grab comments were never verified as Donald Trump.

Lying hillary used some bogus campaign tape, produced by the Bush family, and ran with it
You MFers watch too much “fake news” CNN.

Even if it were true- the off the record locker room talk of two men, recorded without one mans knowledge, in no fing way compares to Jameis.
So stop trying to drag other people into this- trying to minimize Winstons action!!

In addition to his idiotic acts on the field last year( assaulting a player, getting Evans Suspended, trying to assault a referee), the NFL says he sexually assaulted a young woman- who was just trying to make a living.
Hes a mental case, and the fing Bucs knew it when they drafted him!!
Gambling on an idiot. Another stupid move, by a stupid franchise.
    Embarassing. Disgraceful. Nationally humiliating

    Cut him

  34. Defense Rules Says:

Joe, comments disappearing again. Others seem to be having similar problems.
When it comes time to pay WordPress this month, you might tell them that you sent the check but that it must’ve disappeared in cyberspace. Then see if they can find it … along with our comments.

  35. Capt.Tim Says:

    Yet another lost post.
Is it because of my opinion at this point?

  36. Couch Fan Says:

Lmao You do nothing but speak out of both sides of your mouth.

First let me say Im a Trump supporter I defended Trump just like Im defending Winston. At least Im consistant. You seem to pick and choose who defend while excusing one and not the other. Absolutely ridiculous. If I was joe I’d delete your posts to.

  37. Roy T. Buford Says:

DB55…Of course I’ve called an Uber. And the driver got a sober client and I didn’t try to feel her up either. Why do you sit there and stick up for a sex offender? You really look kind of silly.

  38. Capt.Tim Says:

    Coach fan
I assume that was directed to me, sir
    If not disreguard

    You complete dumba**.
You dont know the diference between some accused of making inappropriate comment-
On a tape that has been altered, and cannot be authenticated
Created and released by a family member of his political openent, then futher released by “lying Hilliary”

[Joe doesn’t think that actually happened otherwise lawyers if not a district attorney would be all over him as Joe is typing this. — Joe] He was accused of raping another young woman, and used the same witness on the investigation, that was caught lying for the most recent case. Caught stealing on camera. Has to be restrained from attacking a referee. Assaults another player. Stands on a table, surrounded by hundreds of video taping stendents- chanting “ f**k her in the pu**y” over and over-WHILE UNDER
    INVESTIGATION FOR RAPE!!!

Yeah man who created billion dollar business, or a bonehead who cant stay out of trouble, with hundreds of millions on the line.

    Yeah. A little different.

  39. Roy T. Buford Says:

I like all the comparisons of this to Trump. First, I’ll say Trump has always been a scumbag at a personal and business level IMO. I dididn’t vote for him in the primary but when the general election came around, it was about the lesser of the two evils…a vulgar, foul mouthed jerk (kinda like DB55 with money, a brain, and a job) or a zoned-out radical socialist egomaniac who is a threat to national security. And I liked the issues Trump brought up, so that’s how I went. And he’s done a good job since. There is nothing he’s done while in office that we put him in (far as we know) to want him gone. Four years ago, Winston came in with baggage too, promised he’d be the model guy, told us to judge him for who he is going foward, and he’s done nothing but disappoint on and off the field, and is a proven liar and the NFL thinks…sex offender. So that’s the big difference…Winston goofed after being put in the position….

  40. Orlampa Turd Says:

Capt Tim sounds like a Gator fan.

  41. Buccfan37 Says:

The league could start a released for time served exconvict group of teams if they wanted. Pumped up nonviolently convicted brawlers would put on a good show, the Tampa Bay Maulers sounds good. The stadium would be full.

  42. stpetebucsfan Says:

We do not need to be so distracted by the he said she said and all the lying from Jameis and his posse.

It really gets down to making a decision for future….do you consider the past or not? Does a pattern mean anything.

Are those who do not learn from history doomed to repeat.

BTW the ONLY poster I’ve read here who genuinely looked at this from Jameis perspective was AlteredEgo. Do any of us care about what happens to Jameis the human being. He clearly has ISSUES. Perhaps a year off would give him a chance to reflect and redirect.

That’s the only happy ending that I can cheer for. Jameis himself grabs control of his career and says HE”s decided to take a year off to think through some things and redirect his life.
