159 minutes is a long time to do anything. Or in this case it is a long time to not do something. Like…oh…I don’t know…maybe…score a goal?

In this final edition of the Todd Wright Lightning Playoff Podcast, Todd takes you through those final 159 minutes of the Eastern Conference Finals where the Capitals (Not the Collapsitals) outscored Tampa Bay, 9-0. Sure, the Lightning had the better goaltender, but they clearly did not have the best player on the ice and perhaps they had a group of defensemen who simply were not built to beat a team like Washington over seven games. Todd also looks at the future for this Lightning roster and one big name in particular, while also reminding Lightning fans and those making lame excuses that a guy named Marchessault is still playing and actually scoring goals as the Stanley Cup Final begins on Monday.

From the HC to stars and line-depth, we were inferior in every single way when it matter the most–but that’s quickly becoming the book on this team. It’s going to take some serious soul-searching and roster evaluation to see if this team, as currently configured, has what it takes to win the cup. Cultural reflection too. It’s not that we lost, it’s how we lost. The malaise of Game 6 is simply inexcusable. Being shell-shocked 64 seconds into Game 7 is equally pathetic. Where was the passion? Where were the stars? Where was the Captain? Sure, he scored during the series, but he didn’t will his team like Ovie willed his. Where was Vasy? Hung out to dry too often.
Stevie Y, this roster needs to get a hell of a lot bigger, stronger and tougher- you see that, right?

First let me thank the Joes for for these PODCAST and everyone connected for doing them. Yes please continue them and cover our Lightning with both of them. The Lightning Insider is about all I have and that is not as good as these.
Not only do we need player changes but possibly a couple coaching changes. Cooper is fine. But no scoring in the final 2 games is unacceptable. Vasy has carried this team all year and 5v5 scoring was not it’s strong point. I also think in today’s NHL this team is undersized and it showed. But that is just my opinion.

Weird series. We stole some games in which the Caps were vastly outplaying us in terms of possessions / opportunities / shots (3/4 and particularly game 4). Then the opposite seemed to occur in game 6 and especially game 7.
We were dominating possession / opportunities most of the game. I don’t even think the team played bad really but got absolutely no bounces in terms of a single rebound being around any of our players; while Washington got a complete freak pass bounce for their 2nd goal. The first goal given up was a bad defensive play; but other than that I thought the team did well enough the first 2 periods to be up 2 or 3 to 1; but didn’t get a single bounce.
When the pass by Hedman in front of the goal was somehow not put in I just told my wife the hockey gods are sh1tting on us right now.
